Everything was comfortable.The staff, lobby, meals, Room, and bath were all clean and relaxing.The meals were thoughtfully prepared, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. However, it would have been even better if there had been a dinner menu.At other places I’ve stayed, they compile the menus into a file for easy reference.The illustrated breakfast menu was great.I quickly framed it with my watermelon eraser stamp and displayed it in my living room.It looks wonderful in the frame.

This was my third stay. Last time I stayed in a newly renovated Room, but this time I chose the same Room as my first visit. It does feel a bit dated in places, but the in-room bath and washroom are spacious, and I might actually prefer this one.The large public bath is nice too, but the changing area isn’t very big, so it can get crowded depending on the time of day.The only thing I’d like improved is that the shoji screens in the Room let in a lot of sunlight, so I wake up early. I wish there were curtains or something similar.We had the live squid course meal again and, as always, it was delicious. The portions were more than enough and very satisfying. The rice is great (at breakfast too), so I end up eating more than I should. The pickled plum has that traditional salty taste—excellent.We also received a discount coupon for a melon smoothie at next door’s ICHJO and tried it right away—it was very good. All of the staff were pleasant, and we had a comfortable stay. We always come for squid, but next time I really want to visit during crab season.
