    It was great after all.

    I stayed here once quite a while ago, and I’d been hoping to return the next time I came to Sapporo. As expected, it was great again. The main building is wonderful. The elevator area, corridors, Room—even the clock—had a lovely classic atmosphere. And the elevators arrive quickly! One thing: although I was shown to my Room, it was my first time having to carry my own luggage (it wasn’t much, but other hotels usually help). The location is convenient, and breakfast was delicious—there was soup curry, and even apple pie. Also, it was disappointing that all the hairdryer settings had the same airflow strength. I wanted to relax in the Room longer, but I’ll visit again next time.

    Highly satisfying lounge service!

    I stayed here to enjoy the lounge, and the executive lounge exceeded my expectations. The drinks, sweets, and savory items were all high quality with a great selection, and the calm atmosphere made it even better. In the Room, there were two sets each of four different types of towels—more than enough for a solo stay. I also appreciated the lavender bath salts and the comfortable bedding. It was also easy to access from Sapporo Station via an underground passageway, so I arrived without getting wet in the rain or getting lost. It was convenient for going out to nearby Facilities around the station as well. The only drawbacks were that it has a unit bath and that there was slightly limited information about lounge access. Even so, overall satisfaction was high, and this is a Hotel I can recommend to anyone who prioritizes lounge access near Sapporo Station.

    Staying for lounge access purposes

    I stayed for two nights because I was looking forward to the lounge. By chance, it wasn’t crowded, so I was able to relax and take my time. (I may have spent more time unwinding in the lounge than staying in the small Room.) All of the Hotel-made savory items, sweets, bread, etc. were delicious. The convenient location with direct underground access from Sapporo Station was also a big plus. If you want to fully enjoy your Hotel stay, I recommend booking a Room with lounge access!

    The lounge is wonderful.

    During what seemed to be the Lilac Festival, hotel rates were soaring for the weekend, so after much thought I booked a Room with club lounge access—something I normally wouldn’t choose. Whenever I visited, there was the Grand Hotel’s signature apple pie and ice cream, plus a great selection of locally made Hokkaido alcohol. It wasn’t crowded, and the clientele was in a completely different league from the lounge at a certain U.S.-based chain Hotel. It was expensive, but the quality was outstanding and it was fantastic.

    Executive Floor Stay

    We visited for the Snow Festival and stayed with my wife on the Executive Floor, which I’d been curious about for a while. The Executive Lounge location wasn’t explained in the Room or on any card, so I was a bit confused at first. At tea time, foreign guests were freely helping themselves to beer and wine from the fridge, but I hesitated and stuck to coffee and soft drinks. (I did enjoy the ice cream with apple pie—delicious.) At cocktail time, I had wine and sparkling wine, and also tried Croft gin. It was unusual that there was no tonic water, so I had it on the rocks instead. I really liked the half-bottle Hokkaido wine. There were various snacks and everything was tasty; my favorite was the handmade blue cheese. If they sold Hokkaido wine and that blue cheese at the shop, I would have liked to buy them. There is also a Plan with breakfast included. Since I enjoyed the Japanese breakfast last time, I chose that Plan again and had Japanese cuisine—it was as delicious as ever. I also took a quick look at the breakfast lounge, but breakfast in the lounge is more of a light meal. If I have another chance, I’d like to book an Executive Floor Plan again—but if I’m meeting friends, I can’t make use of cocktail time, so it might feel like a waste.

    Reliable and secure

    From the first contact, I left my luggage twice and the service was excellent. The Facility is old but clean. Breakfast let me fully enjoy Sapporo, Hokkaido. This may be difficult, but here is a suggestion. For breakfast: Sapporo ramen and jingisukan (grilled mutton). Rather than sticking to the usual breakfast concept, I suggest offering a “Enjoy Sapporo at Sapporo Grand Hotel” experience.

    I stayed in a Room with lounge access, and I had a wonderful time enjoying afternoon tea and happy hour in the lounge. Everything I ate was delicious. I would definitely like to stay again. The bathroom was standard, as I stayed in a Room with a typical unit bath.

    An Accommodation that embodies tradition and elegance

    I stayed for one night with a breakfast-included Plan. This was my second time staying on the GRAND IN GRAND floor, and I was especially impressed by the high quality of the club lounge. Compared to my previous visit, the club lounge service felt even more refined. The room was also impeccably cleaned, making for a very comfortable stay. In particular, during turndown service, they thoughtfully prepared new slippers and ice before I even had to ask—attention to detail like this truly stood out. As expected of a first-class Hotel! Thank you very much.

    Everything was excellent!

    The Room had a separate bath and toilet, and there were two sinks, so the two of us could stay comfortably. The Japanese breakfast was delicious, and it was quiet as well. The buffet had so many tasty options that we ended up eating too much, and we were able to fully enjoy Hokkaido. The Hokkaido Government Red Brick Office is very close by, and the Clock Tower is also nearby. Even though it was a bit difficult to walk due to my bad legs, we were able to take our time getting around.

    It was excellent.

    I stayed for three nights with my daughter to attend a live concert, and other family members stayed for one night. The service and meals were excellent. The layout of the toilet and washbasin area was a slight concern, but we had a comfortable stay. My father used to stay here regularly years ago, which brought back fond memories. When I visit Sapporo again, I would definitely like to stay here.

    Good

    It was the best Room. The East Wing had a separate bath and toilet, which was great. The Room was spacious, and it made for an amazing trip.

    The Executive Lounge was quiet and pleasant.

    This was my second stay this year, and once again the front desk staff were courteous and helpful at check-in. This time I stayed in a Deluxe Double (Non-Smoking) on the Executive Floor. Aside from the toilet and vanity area, the room—including storage—was thoughtfully designed and very functional. The round jet bath in the room was compact, but more than sufficient for one person. The Executive Lounge on the 4th floor of the East Wing has no windows and subdued lighting, creating a calm atmosphere. It may come down to personal preference, but it’s well suited for guests who want to spend time quietly. Services were well organized by time slot: Morning Time (8:00–10:00), Tea Time (10:00–12:00), Afternoon Tea Time (12:00–17:00), and Happy Hour (17:00–21:00). Breakfast was a Japanese/Western buffet at Northern Terrace Diner from 6:30, with a fairly wide selection, allowing me to enjoy a relaxed meal in the morning. There was also an IKYU.com Diamond Member benefit of late check-out (normally 11:00 → 12:00), which made for an unhurried stay. PS 1) I hope to see the French restaurant “Grand Chef,” which I used often when I was younger, return someday. 2) Given current conditions, the Accommodation Fee is relatively reasonable for a Hotel of this class (which is greatly appreciated as a guest).

    As expected, the impeccable hospitality of a world-class Hotel.

    Both the front desk and the bell desk provided outstanding service. The bell desk, in particular, was impressively quick to respond. The room was also clean, and I was very satisfied. At a time when traditional Hotel service is gradually disappearing, I was reminded that this is a Hotel representing The whole country—one that is committed to securing and developing staff, which is the most challenging task of all. During my 2-night, 3-day stay, I enjoyed an exceptional time thanks to your heartfelt hospitality. Thank you sincerely.

    It was wonderful.

    We stayed for two days during Golden Week. The Room was very clean, the meals were delicious, and we had a comfortable stay. The staff were wonderful, and we would like to stay again next time. Thank you very much for helping us look for my lost mouthguard. We truly appreciate it.

    Unfortunately.

    Check-in took far too long. I think it would be better if the staff stopped chatting and worked together. During guidance, I saw someone get caught in the elevator right in front of me, but the staff did not react at all—this is unacceptable. The air conditioning was poor, and I couldn’t sleep. Inside the Hotel, a staff member spoke to me because they mistook me for a foreigner.

    I think the club lou...

    I think the club lounge is No. 1 in Sapporo. It was wonderful and so relaxing that I could have stayed there all day. Many guests seemed to be enjoying it for quite a long time. There were also plenty of original sweets from the Grand Hotel, and I wanted to buy some after returning home, but they don’t seem to be available online. I’d love to visit again when I want to unwind.

    A Satisfying One-Night Stay

    When I think of a Hotel in Sapporo, Hokkaido, I think of the Grand Hotel, so I always stay here when I travel. The staff are always very kind and helpful, and I truly appreciate it. This time, the staff member’s service felt more heartfelt than ever—perhaps the best so far. Thank you so much. I also heard that you will soon be leaving for an overseas training program for about a year. Please study hard, and after you return to Japan, I look forward to even more wonderful service than before—best of luck.     Thank you for your continued support.

    Whenever our family stays in Sapporo, we choose the Grand Hotel. This time we stayed in a Room on the 5th floor, and every time we stepped into the hallway, there was a sulfur-like smell. Also, the coffee at the breakfast venue is made by machine, but it felt like there is room for improvement (it tasted watered down). In the end, both my mother and I ended up using the coffee provided in our Room each day. The food itself always satisfies us! This time we also had the chance to enjoy Chinese cuisine within the Hotel, and the service at that restaurant was excellent. We look forward to staying again next time.

    Be sure to use the Executive Lounge.

    1) Executive Lounge The Executive Lounge was outstanding, offering Hokkaido wines, beer, soft drinks, snacks, sweets, and light meals across three time slots. As a wine lover, it felt like a luxury to enjoy carefully selected Hokkaido wines from the morning. There were two whites and two reds, all served as half bottles. In the evening there was sparkling rosé as well as red and white wines from France—so many that it would be hard to try everything even over two days. In the morning: Hotel bread (go early or it sells out), fruit, salad, and ham At lunchtime: 5–6 kinds of Hotel-made baked sweets, Hokkaido treats, a small cake set, ham and other light bites In the evening: ajillo, mozzarella with basil, falafel, salmon dishes, tuna carpaccio-style dishes It was wonderful to sample so many delicious local specialties in small portions. There were moments when I saw an arrogant guest being unreasonable toward the staff. It made me think that if this is a renovation aimed at inbound travelers, perhaps raising the lounge’s tier could help prevent petty complainers from coming—but I’m sure management has their own considerations. I truly hope the staff will not be discouraged and will continue their excellent service. 2) Staff Everyone provided attentive but not excessive service—quietly noticing cues such as when to clear plates—which made the experience very comfortable. 3) Exterior and Interior It was a rainy day, but the exterior looked beautiful under Sapporo’s distinctive orange streetlights. It reminded me of bittersweet scenes from Netflix dramas. The interior also conveyed refined elegance with its classic atmosphere and meticulous upkeep. It reminded me that “new” isn’t always better—there was even something reminiscent of Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel in its sense of dignity. Overall satisfaction for the price was very high—especially the lounge selection. After this experience I can’t imagine going back to lounges in Tokyo that cost twice as much; I’d rather pay for a flight just to come here again. It may not compare with lounges at ultra-luxury Hotels costing hundreds of thousands per night per stay (in yen), but it is highly recommended for treating yourself or enjoying a slightly more indulgent getaway.

    Room odor

    I often stay here when visiting Sapporo. This time, however, the Room had an unpleasant odor, possibly from the drain. I checked in late at night and checked out early in the morning, so I didn’t mention it at the time, but the smell persisted until morning.

    It is a wonderful Hotel.

    We stayed here for our honeymoon. The bell staff guided us very smoothly, but the male staff member at the front desk seemed inexperienced, and we felt a bit uneasy about his Japanese. However, we were very satisfied because the Room was wonderful and the breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options! The lounge had long opening hours, plenty of food and drink choices, and it was spacious and quiet, which we really liked. When we visit Hokkaido again, we would definitely like to stay in the same Room!

    Old, but well maintained and thoughtfully updated.

    The building itself is quite old, but it has been well updated and is comfortable. The heating works well, and there are no issues with hot water. The staff are top-notch and welcoming, making you want to stay again. The only drawback is the thin walls. Voices from the neighboring Room are easier to hear than in other Hotels. Since the building is old, it may be unavoidable, but this is something I wish had been addressed during the main building renovation.

    As always, it’s a relaxing and comforting space.

    It was my first stay in Sapporo in a while, and I was truly happy to be welcomed so warmly as always. Thank you for upgrading me to a spacious Room, which allowed me to relax and enjoy my stay. There are many Hotels in Sapporo, but a long-established Hotel offers an unmatched sense of reassurance. I’m planning to visit again in September. I’m also looking forward to enjoying breakfast made with Hokkaido ingredients again.

    Conveniently located near both the station and the downtown area! Parking is also available, making the location excellent! The Room is spacious for the price and feels great!

    Executive Lounge!

    I stayed at a Hotel in Sapporo with a Plan that includes access to the lounge. The lounge has no windows, but with calm lighting and spacious seating it feels luxurious, and the staff were very pleasant—truly what you would expect from a long-established grand hotel. The homemade apple pie and cakes were especially delicious, and I also enjoyed the snacks served from 5:00 PM. There was also a wide selection of alcoholic drinks. This time I booked No Meals Included, but if you are fine with a light breakfast, the drinks, salad, fruit, and bread available in the lounge were more than enough. It was also nice to be able to enjoy alcohol from the morning.

    The perfect base in Sapporo with an excellent location and outstanding staff service

    Guests who leave high ratings likely choose the Executive Floor. The older Rooms felt like a standard Business Hotel level. Even so, this long-established Hotel still offers an excellent stay overall. I truly appreciated the attentiveness and professionalism of all the staff.
