This was our second stay, and even though we arrived nearly two hours later than planned, thank you very much for welcoming us so kindly. Both the Room and the bath were very clean. We were a bit concerned about mosquitoes given the season, but effective measures with a wonderful fragrance were in place, so we felt completely at ease throughout our stay. The sound system in the loft theater room was excellent—it truly felt like being in a movie theater. We were also shown to a private dining room, which allowed us to relax and enjoy the delicious food at our own pace, almost like in-Room dining. All of the staff were courteous from start to finish, and we had a truly wonderful time. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much for everything.

I had a wonderfully relaxing stay at a comfortable pace. It was quiet and spotless throughout, and the Onsen was incredibly open and wonderful. Every meal was deeply delicious. The staff were also very pleasant and welcoming. I feel as if both my body and mind have been refreshed. I can hardly believe how reasonably priced it is. Thank you very much. The delicious meals and everyone’s warm hospitality were truly soothing. In particular, thank you to the person in charge of our dinner for your thoughtful care in so many ways. This is a wonderful Accommodation, with a spacious public bath and an open-air bath where the greenery of the trees and mountains feels almost within reach. The garden open-air bath was at just the right temperature, and perhaps thanks to thorough insect control even in summer, we weren’t bothered by insects at all. Although it was fully booked, maybe our timing was good—the public bath was almost private, and we enjoyed it to the fullest. After returning home, my husband and I are quietly aiming to try every Room with a garden open-air bath. We would love to visit again, and we appreciate your continued kindness when we do. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

The building is elegant and the interior is stylish—I felt excited from the moment I arrived. All the staff were consistently pleasant, and their thoughtfulness really came through, making the stay extremely comfortable. We traveled with a child, and they were so kind to our little one as well, which truly warmed my heart. The beer in the lobby was incredibly good—I couldn’t help but keep drinking it. Dinner was delicious across the board…especially the tuna and Wagyu steak!! I had high expectations, but it exceeded them. The staff were wonderful, it’s all-inclusive, everything was spotless in both the lobby and our Room, and the views were fantastic—honestly, I don’t think there are many Accommodations as lovely as this. If you’re traveling to Izu, I highly recommend this Accommodation. You’re guaranteed to have an amazing trip! I’m still thinking how I should’ve eaten more and enjoyed even more…haha! After checkout, I realized I’d left something behind and contacted them—they kindly shipped it to my home. It arrived the next day, and their quick yet courteous response truly warmed my heart. Although it’s a bit far from Shimoda Station, they offer not only a Shuttle Service from the station but also a Shuttle Service to Sotoura Beach. If you plan to relax nearby, you won’t feel inconvenienced at all even without renting a car. There is a complimentary drink bar inside the property, and it was great that we could even enjoy beer and highballs. The pool is also available, and all the staff were very kind and helpful. What stood out most was the excellent service for children. They handed out “Rock-Paper-Scissors Rally Cards,” and if kids won three times against staff members, they received fireworks. At night, we used them to have fun on the beach, and our child was absolutely delighted. Just as the Reviews we checked in advance said, this really is a wonderful Hotel. If we have another chance to visit Shimoda, we would definitely stay here again.

Thank you very much for taking such great care of us. The open-air bath and toilet in the Room were very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. We were also surprised that even the indoor bath was an Onsen. As we traveled with our grandchild, the pool was wonderful and our grandchild was delighted. Since this time was only a one-night stay, everyone was very disappointed, and we are thinking of staying longer next year. Although one of us became unwell, thank you sincerely for your attentive support. The Facility is new, yet it is a wonderful Accommodation that preserves traditional Japanese hospitality and service.

We stayed here as a couple. In addition to the in-room open-air bath and the Onsen, we were especially impressed by the ocean view from our Room, and we were able to relax and unwind in a quiet setting. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and we also enjoyed meals and drinks via room service; the dining space itself was wonderful as well. The overall atmosphere and interior design throughout the property felt calm and comfortable, making it a stay where we could truly enjoy the luxury of doing nothing. Above all, the hospitality from all staff was exceptional—their service was both attentive and warmly welcoming, which left a lasting impression. The views, the Room, the food, and the staff’s care all exceeded our expectations. Although it was only one night, we had a truly lovely time that became an unforgettable memory. We would definitely like to return, and we highly recommend this Accommodation to anyone looking to spend special time with someone important.

I’m a repeat guest. Although this Accommodation has a 100-year history, the in-house Facility, garden, guest Rooms, baths—everything is beautifully maintained, and you can feel the attention to detail throughout to ensure a comfortable stay. The staff service is also excellent. Their sense of distance—stepping in smoothly when needed—felt very pleasant, and I was able to truly relax. The meals were delicious as well, and the tableware and presentation are beautiful and exciting. I feel the dining alone offers more than enough value for the price. Also, since there are relatively few Rooms and no children staying, the atmosphere inside is calm, which I love because I can relax anywhere in the Accommodation. These days, perhaps due to rising costs, I’m often disappointed when food quality or service declines on repeat visits—but I sincerely hope Gyokuhokan will remain unchanged when I visit next time. I will definitely return.

We were truly satisfied with both the meals and the Room! We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and the Onsen was incredibly relaxing. It was wonderful to be able to soak anytime without worrying about the time! The staff member who served our meals was very kind, and even in the morning, he shared helpful information before we headed out. He also saw us off until the very end, and we are sincerely grateful. It made for a truly wonderful trip. This is our No. 1 Accommodation we want to stay at again.

This was our first time staying as a family of six. We stayed in the annex, and the building was clean and a great environment for families with children without worrying about noise. The bath was spacious, and we loved that it had free-flowing natural hot spring water. The Onsen pool was also large, and the kids really enjoyed it. The night pool had a magical atmosphere as well. It turned into a wonderful trip.

I stayed here two years ago and it was amazing. This time, even though it was raining due to back-to-back typhoons, it didn’t matter at all—our stay was wonderful again. I heard the interior was fully renovated about a year and a half ago, and the Room has been updated with a modern feel. It’s stairs up to around the 5th floor, but each step is low, so getting around isn’t difficult. Our two dogs get excited the moment they arrive when they like an Accommodation, and they were thrilled this time as well. They even used the provided toilet just like at home. Since they’re timid, we didn’t use the dog run. I tried three Onsen baths, and all of them were perfect—the temperature was just right. The food is simply outstanding. The sashimi is expertly prepared, and there’s more than enough overall—I couldn’t finish everything. I especially love how Shiki no Kura serves abalone, and it was truly delicious again this time. Even compared with top Hotels and Ryokan across The whole country, this place ranks among the best. Breakfast was also excellent: a selection of side dishes that anyone would enjoy paired with rice cooked in a clay pot. The staff’s guidance and conversation were great, as were their thoughtful touches in the Room. After breakfast I took a nap and checked out at 11:00—honestly, I relaxed even more than my dogs did. The building itself does feel old in places; when I wiped the floor it came up dirty. But everywhere has something these days due to staffing shortages, so it didn’t bother me. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that prices fluctuate quite a bit during Kawazu cherry blossom season and other peak times. If it were always reasonably priced, I’d make this my regular go-to (laugh). I will definitely be back again.

The kids’ meals and amenities were excellent, and the Facility environment was wonderful for keeping children entertained. The kids’ room is open 24 hours, so even children who wake up early and are full of energy could enjoy themselves to the fullest. When our older grandchild fell ill on the second day, you were a tremendous help—preparing gentle-on-the-stomach meals and promptly taking care of the bedding. The adults who enjoy drinks also thoroughly enjoyed the all-inclusive plan. We would love to visit again. Just one request: we would feel safer if an additional lock for access to the open-air bath and footbath area could be installed higher up as well. Our 4-year-old can unlock doors on their own, and we felt anxious about them accidentally stepping out onto the terrace and potentially falling into the river. Thank you for considering this.

The free-flowing natural Onsen was amazing. In particular, the “Isaribi” Room with a scenic open-air bath was exceptional—soaking while gazing out at the ocean was truly special. I was also impressed to be served a whole grilled splendid alfonsino. The Room was very clean and comfortable, and my one-night, two-day stay left me feeling refreshed in both body and mind. A wonderful Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

All the staff provided excellent service. The meals were delicious, featuring mainly local fish, including sashimi. The coffee mill was a nice touch as well. We will visit again.

As we did last year, we visited again during the summer holidays this year. All of the staff were kind and attentive, and we were able to spend a truly pleasant time. The kids’ events unique to the summer holidays were also fantastic. The meals and baths were flawless. Thank you for a stay that made us want to come back again!

Third visit I accidentally made a Reservation for the Japanese restaurant, but they kindly accommodated my last-minute change. When I mentioned during the Reservation that it was my daughter’s birthday, they surprised us at dinner with a beautiful bouquet and a special dessert plate. We were truly satisfied with their warm hospitality. Above all, we enjoyed what felt like a private beach far from any crowds, along with the infinity pool and sauna. Surrounded by crystal-clear sea and sky, we had an unforgettable time. The food was delicious as well! We’ll be back again.

Thanks to the warm and courteous service, I felt at ease throughout my stay. The location is very convenient if you are traveling by car. For guests arriving by train, a Shuttle Service was also available to Shimoda Station. Because I have many food allergies, I chose a Plan without meals. However, the Accommodation staff kindly recommended local restaurants, and we were fortunate to get a Reservation. I was able to enjoy an outstanding simmered kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), which was absolutely delicious. The young international staff were wonderful as well—their smiles were lovely, their Japanese was excellent, and they worked with great dedication. As someone who can only speak Japanese comfortably, I truly respect them. The bath was also fantastic: the Izu stone in the indoor bath glowed a beautiful blue, and its soft texture felt very pleasant on the skin. The night view of Shimoda Port and the sunset outside the window were stunning. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

As we did last year, we stayed again during the Obon holiday this year. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Four friends and I enjoyed a girls’ trip in our late 40s to early 50s. We took walks along the coast, enjoyed the foot bath and the Onsen, and although we only had breakfast, we truly had a wonderful time. If we have another chance, we would love to visit again.
