I have stayed at many Hotels and Ryokan with ocean views, but this was one of the most memorable. The views from the Room and the open-air bath were outstanding—thanks to the Hotel’s hilltop location with nothing obstructing the scenery, as well as the serene beauty of the Seto Inland Sea itself. There are very few man-made structures nearby, and the landscape created by the scattered islands is truly stunning. In the distance, we could see bridges of the Shimanami Kaido and parts of Imabari’s townscape, while boats passing below from time to time added a lovely touch to the view. I felt this Hotel is well worth staying at even just to relax and take in this scenery. Because it was listed as “Casual” on IKYU, I initially imagined a standard Hotel that simply highlights its views. In reality, however, we experienced warm, unpretentious hospitality from all staff members. Dinner was not a typical set menu; it showed thoughtful creativity throughout and was delicious. Breakfast was buffet-style, and in particular, I still remember how wonderful the locally harvested blueberries were. This time we rented a car at Hiroshima Station: on our first night we stayed at a Ryokan on Etajima; on day two we toured Takehara before taking a ferry over and enjoying beautiful Setouchi island views from Mount Kamimine prior to check-in. The next day we visited Okunoshima to spend time with its rabbits, then headed home via Mihara to Hiroshima Airport. The Hotel was also extremely convenient as a base for sightseeing routes starting from Hiroshima City toward Kure, Takehara, and Mihara—and we were fully satisfied with every aspect: scenery, dining, and hospitality.

They also stored my luggage before check-in. There was one washing machine in the women’s large public bath, so I felt comfortable doing laundry. The bread at the breakfast buffet was delicious.

I have stayed here more than five times.\nAlthough the building shows some minor wear, it is kept very clean.\nNear the lobby, you can choose from a selection of shampoo and conditioner, and an Onsen Facility is located next door. The Onsen includes bubble baths, a sauna, and an open-air bath, so you can really enjoy it.\nThere is also a small welcome drink near the elevators, so you can sit on the chairs across from the lobby and relax while looking outside.\nThe Room is fairly spacious, and even if you book No Meals Included, you can still dine at the restaurant on the second floor for around 1,000–2,000 yen.\nThere is also a microwave in the Hotel, so you can bring in food from outside. On the second floor there was an area with vending machines plus tables and chairs where you can heat food in the microwave and eat right away.\nIt’s not right in the city center, but it’s convenient—you can reach both Hiroshima City and Onomichi in under an hour.

I always stay here the night before my departure from Hiroshima Airport. This time as well, I was able to relax in the welcome lounge, and I really enjoyed the delicious breakfast. I request the Shuttle Service between the airport and the Hotel every time, and this time the flowers in the lobby were even more beautiful than usual—I couldn’t help but stop and admire them. I’ll definitely stay again!

Five of us stayed over the weekend of 7/25–26. We debated for a long time between this place and another Hotel, but chose this one because the Onsen was a big draw. Since it was a weekend after summer vacation started, we were worried it would be crowded—whether we could get into the bath at a good time and whether we’d be able to enjoy the breakfast service—but in the end our timing was perfect. We were able to relax in the bath, and we were very satisfied with the complimentary breakfast. We also enjoyed the welcome drink, and considering how affordable it was, we were extremely happy with all the services. From now on, whenever we travel, if there’s a Hotel like this at our destination, we’ll definitely choose it. At breakfast, one of the female staff members kept everything well stocked and moving smoothly. It seemed there was an issue with the miso soup machine, so she kindly came around to each table asking if anyone wanted miso soup. She was friendly and warm-hearted, which left a great impression. If we ever come back to Hiroshima again someday, we’d love to stay with you again.

We booked the “Chef’s Choice Kura Twin” Plan and stayed in Room 101 of the MOSO building. The Room was a very comfortable size for two people. The beams, the safe room, and the steep stairs were all experiences you don’t usually get to have, so they felt truly special. The dinner we had been looking forward to was delicious. In particular, the rich flavor of Togeshita beef and the vivid colors of the corn bavarois appetizer left a strong impression. We chose an anniversary Plan, and we were delighted to see our requested message along with a ribbon. At breakfast as well, staff offered refills at just the right time, and they also knew we were staying on an anniversary Plan and kindly took photos for us—making it a very pleasant time. It was a stay that made us feel truly welcomed—both by the Accommodation and by the town! We also loved the Takehara Campbell juice listed on the lounge and restaurant drink menus. It’s grape juice, but I’d never tasted one with such clarity before. We had it again at a roadside station after checkout—and even bought more to take home. A couple of small things we noticed: Dust had collected in the basket in the washroom. Each time we entered to use the sink, the toilet lid sensor reacted and opened automatically; we would prefer it without automatic opening/closing.

Welcome drinks, especially the cold sake, were a delightful touch appreciated by the host. Although the walk to the bath was a bit long, guests could choose their yukata, and the men's and women's baths alternated daily for added variety. The Room was a spacious Japanese-Western style, and dinner was served in just the right portions. After check-out, guests could relax in the lobby or garden at their leisure.

I stayed for one night with my parents (three of us total) with both dinner and breakfast included. The Accommodation had a calm atmosphere centered around hinoki cypress, and I felt truly relaxed while enjoying the scent and warmth of the wood. The French dinner was carefully prepared dish by dish, and I was completely satisfied with both the presentation and the taste. Breakfast was also delicious, made with local ingredients, so I thoroughly enjoyed the meals throughout my stay. I also used the on-site public bath; since it was a weekday it wasn’t crowded, which allowed me to soak at a leisurely pace. Most memorable of all was the staff’s hospitality. Everyone greeted us with a smile and kindness, and their thoughtful attention to detail made me very happy. I felt comfortable from start to finish, and it was such a wonderful place that it naturally made me want to come back. My family loved it as well, and it became a great memory for us all.

Unfortunately, the desired Room was not available, but the view of Setoda, characteristic of the island, was wonderful. Dinner was plentiful, and I ended up eating too much. Thank you for your warm and homely hospitality and for your many kindnesses.

We visited with our children. It was an extremely hot day during summer vacation. Since we arrived early, we had lunch at the restaurant and enjoyed soft-serve ice cream at Usanchu Cafe. The restaurant’s limited “Takehara Fish Rice” (only 10 servings per day) was also delicious. The staff member who explained how to eat it was very pleasant, which left a great impression. To be honest, we didn’t have high expectations for the breakfast and dinner buffets because it’s island food, but everything was very tasty. The sea firefly observation event from 8:00 PM and the morning walk were meaningful experiences that helped us learn about Okunoshima’s history. The former principal’s talk also seemed fun for the kids. Touring the island on the C Walk was another enjoyable experience for our children. I would highly recommend this Hotel to families with kids and to rabbit lovers.

I was very satisfied with the great value of my stay. Everything was wonderful, and in particular, the open-air bath in the Room was fed directly from the hot spring source. I only noticed after making my Reservation, which made me even happier. The water quality was excellent—my skin felt moisturized and my body stayed warm. The meals were delicious and the views were beautiful, making for a truly lovely time and a great trip. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

I’ve stayed in dormitories several times, and this was the most comfortable experience I’ve had so far. The bedroom was similar to other places, but the shared spaces were spacious, relaxing, and very comfortable to use.\nThe location was also very convenient—right in the middle of Shimanami—making it easy to get around.

This is the only Hotel I’ve stayed at in Takehara, but it always feels like a clean Hotel in a relatively new building. This time I stayed in a single Room, but I recommend the double Room, which is 1,000 yen more. Not only is the bed better, but the bathroom and toilet are separate and the bathtub is spacious—worth paying a little extra for the difference.

My cycling trip at an advanced age—traveling with my son. The gently seasoned meals were kind to my tired body, suited me very well, and I thought they were excellent. The seawater bath was also wonderful. A moment before bedtime. The head chef’s beautifully toned flute performance. Bravo. If I ever ride again... will that happen? If so, I would love to stay here again.

This was my second stay. Whenever I come to Mihara, this is the Hotel I choose without hesitation. Women receive amenity sets that include face masks, and from 4:00 PM there are free drinks, rice balls, and even shaved ice. From 6:00 PM, one beer per person is free, and from the second beer onward it’s only 300 yen, which is a great deal. What was disappointing this time was the strong smell of cigarettes around the front desk area—it made me feel sick.

Despite the sudden Reservation at a late hour, you responded with such kindness that I felt truly sorry. It was very helpful. Thank you very much. If I have the chance, I would love to visit Mihara again, which I adore. I am deeply grateful.

The Room’s interior, Facilities, size, and location were all excellent. I wish I could end my review there, but there was one very disappointing issue. On the morning of the third day (Saturday) of our two-night stay, I found a spider about 10 cm in diameter in the bathroom during a morning bath. The spider itself may have come in when opening or closing the door or windows, and given the natural surroundings—and since I noticed it right before checkout—it wasn’t a major problem. The real issue was what came next. Since new guests might be staying that day, and some people may dislike insects or small children might encounter it (it was large enough to surprise even me), I worried it could ruin their trip. I called the published phone number, but only reached an automated message saying it was outside business hours. I also checked the pre-stay email guidance but couldn’t find any emergency contact information. I understand this Accommodation operates differently from a Ryokan or Hotel, but for situations where guests need to contact someone immediately during their stay (it doesn’t have to be public), there should at least be an emergency contact number provided to guests. In this case, I hope housekeeping removed the spider so the next guests could stay comfortably. However, please recognize that not being able to resolve urgent issues smoothly by phone can potentially ruin a trip, and consider setting up proper emergency contact arrangements. As mentioned at the start, this is an excellent Facility overall—but this one drawback alone makes me hesitate to book again.

Stayed for 2 nights and 3 days at the end of July 2025. Surrounded by lemon groves and located near the seaside, it was a perfect spot to relax. The optional sea kayaking experience was enjoyable even for beginners, thanks to the kind guidance provided, and our children were thrilled. For meals, we had a barbecue on the first day and ordered a gourmet box on the second day, which included fresh vegetables and wild boar meat—absolutely delicious! We also enjoyed the sauna and campfire, making it a wonderful summer vacation!

I stayed at Mihara Kokusai Hotel as a base for a road trip around the Setouchi area and the Chugoku region. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a gentle, nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere that’s simply irresistible. It has a retro, calming charm you won’t find in newer, spotless hotels—and I liked it so much that I’d happily make it my go-to Hotel whenever I visit Mihara. While the building and Facility do show their age in places, everything is meticulously cleaned and clearly well cared for, so there was no discomfort at all. If anything, the nostalgic ambiance softly melts away travel fatigue and makes you feel as relaxed as if you were in your own Room. The unhurried pace and warmth of this place are rare qualities these days. During my stay, I accidentally left some belongings behind—without realizing it myself until the Hotel contacted me. Even though I caused them trouble, their phone support was truly excellent. They showed genuine concern for my situation and guided me quickly and accurately through what to do next. It didn’t feel like a routine procedure; their warm, heartfelt response let me leave everything in their hands with complete peace of mind. I’m sincerely grateful. For those arriving by car: I’ll add a note about parking. On your first visit, the entrance layout and parking spaces might make you think, “This could be a bit tricky.” But once you get used to it, coming and going is smooth and stress-free. You just need to be slightly careful at first—nothing to worry about. Overall, this is an extremely satisfying Hotel where any downside of an older building is more than made up for by outstanding hospitality from the staff and its one-of-a-kind retro appeal. I’ve grown even fonder of this place thanks to its warmth and kindness. The next time I’m driving through this area again, I’ll book here without hesitation. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The view of the calm Seto Inland Sea was breathtaking. Having a golf course right in front added excitement as I imagined playing the next day. Above all, I deeply appreciate the staff's kindness in bringing my husband's forgotten valuables to the station. We are truly grateful for your help and apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will definitely visit again!
