The dining menu has switched to the autumn selection, and I went to try it right away. The chef’s signature black curry—my absolute favorite—was, as always, outstanding. Every dish on Oyama’s autumn menu was also superb, featuring carefully selected ingredients and masterful seasoning by the head chef. Next time, I’ll be back to enjoy the Italian autumn menu—I’m really looking forward to it.

This was my first stay. The welcome drink included alcohol, and it made a fantastic first impression. After checking in at the compact yet open and airy lobby, I headed to my room. It was efficiently laid out, spotless, and so well designed that it felt like my home had been upgraded. The semi-open-air hinoki bath smelled wonderful, the water temperature was easy to adjust, and I was able to relax fully at just the right temperature. The amenities were excellent, and I was especially happy to try a Kinujyo hair dryer for the first time. Dinner was a creative kaiseki course and truly outstanding. The Inaho dish had an addictive flavor, the apple gratin was delicious, and the hamo (pike conger) and duck dobin-mushi was exceptional. They kindly made rice balls from the matsutake rice I couldn’t finish, and even the late-night inari sushi snack was delicious—everything felt thoughtfully prepared with no shortcuts. The clam soup at breakfast was so good that I asked for seconds. I also appreciated that service at both dinner and breakfast was attentive yet unobtrusive—not overly pushy—which can be hard to balance. Check-out being at 12:00 allowed me to enjoy the hot spring again after breakfast. I had a wonderfully relaxing time enjoying both the hot springs and the meals, and I would love to stay again.

We stayed here to celebrate our dog’s first birthday. It was our first family trip with the puppy we had just welcomed home, and we had many worries, but thanks to the kindness of the staff and the well-stocked amenities, we were able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay. And above all, the meals were delicious!! We had both breakfast and dinner, and both left us completely satisfied—full in body and heart. The Onsen in the large public bath was wonderful as well. The open-air bath in our Room is not an Onsen, but it was spacious and relaxing. Our family has already been saying how we want to come back again soon.

From the warm welcome on arrival to the heartfelt send-off at departure, it felt like a dream. The service was exceptionally attentive, and the food was truly delicious—we were completely satisfied. The hot spring was wonderful; we enjoyed a relaxing soak at night under the stars and in the morning while basking in the sunrise. We will definitely stay again. Thank you very much.

I had a wonderfully comfortable and relaxing stay. Every staff member had a lovely smile, and their service felt truly professional and well trained. There were many international staff as well, but everyone was excellent and spoke Japanese very well. The meals were all delicious and beautifully presented, with perfect tableware and plating. This is an inn that makes you want to return, and I would gladly recommend it to my friends. Since there are Fufu properties across Japan, it might be fun to visit different locations for comparison. We usually travel as a couple a few times a year, mainly to Hakone, but this time we stayed one night at “Rinpo Kiryū” for our first family trip, including several celebrations. We have had the chance to visit many Accommodations, but we have never encountered one as wonderful as this—everything from start to finish was truly moving. We arrived about an hour before check-in time, yet we were warmly welcomed without hesitation. From the lovely commemorative photos for our celebration to the heartfelt message card with a photo, we were touched by the surprise hospitality and thoughtful care. We are genuinely grateful to have made so many unforgettable memories for our family trip. Thank you very much. Above all, what deserves special mention is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. From greeting us on arrival to seeing us off at the end, every moment was outstanding, and we were able to spend a truly relaxing time. Our assigned staff member was incredibly kind and always smiling; we enjoyed chatting with them, and our whole family was impressed by their attentive care down to the smallest details. The guidance around the property—like a paradise far removed from everyday life—was also thorough and considerate, and everyone we met greeted us with warm smiles that put us at ease. The Room was very spacious and kept beautifully clean. The bed was also ideal for us—comfortable without sinking in or feeling overly soft. (My wife is quite particular about beds and rarely says this at other Accommodations; I was surprised when she said she wanted to stay another night and didn’t want to go home yet.) During our stay, there was a private open-air Onsen bath exclusively for our Room with free-flowing water from 100% natural source spring water—no added water or heating—from the rare Dogashima Onsen source said to be “legendary,” so we could enjoy an Onsen soak anytime we liked. In addition, there is an indoor hinoki Onsen bath, a private sauna, and even a pool, which allowed our family to enjoy many different experiences together. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious; each dish was beautifully presented with great care and full of creative ideas from the chef. There were also many staff members on hand—the service felt perfect. In my experience so far, it’s rare to find an Accommodation where service is this attentive in every respect. More than anything else, being able to stay at “Rinpo Kiryū” became a wonderful experience for our family. Thank you again very much. We would love to visit again.

Due to a change in our Hakone travel plans, we urgently looked for an inn near the Sengokuhara Grassland Walking Trail, so we arrived without high expectations. From the moment we arrived, I felt uneasy because the parking lot was some distance away, but the staff’s hospitality was excellent throughout—better than expected from the start. We had heard the room was small, but it actually felt more spacious than expected. The food at both dinner and breakfast tasted good, though younger guests might find the portions a bit light. Dinner was udon, so if that feels insufficient, I recommend adding a bowl of rice for 300 yen. The beef steak was cooked perfectly. There are two indoor baths and one open-air bath; however, the tubs are small and the area is surrounded by fencing, so it feels fairly standard. That said, perhaps due to the hot spring’s benefits, my skin felt smooth after bathing. Overall, with its great location just a 5-minute walk to the Sengokuhara Grassland Walking Trail and reasonable rates, it turned out to be a much better stay than expected—choosing Hakone Fuga was absolutely the right decision for this trip.

We have stayed with our dog at many luxury hotels in Japan and abroad, and this was honestly one of the very best—easily competing for No.1 or No.2. If I were to compare it overseas, it’s hard to say which is better: this or the Manor at Capella Singapore. It was a truly outstanding detached villa suite that stands shoulder to shoulder with the world’s top luxury hotels. We stayed for two nights from 9/20 with three family members and our dog. Because a typhoon was approaching, we arrived early, but the staff handled everything politely and smoothly and kindly escorted us to our room about two hours earlier than usual. Before our stay, I read every review on Ikkyu, and it felt like many of the past concerns had been addressed. I was also impressed by how sincerely you seem to take guest feedback. Since this two-night stay cost around JPY 1,000,000, I was slightly worried about whether it would truly feel worth the price—but the sense of exclusivity in the detached villa (No.100) exceeded all expectations. A dedicated parking space, an approximately 300 m² private dog run, a two-story/two-bedroom layout, in-room dining available only for this villa, complimentary champagne and drinks in the refrigerator, private dining rooms when using the restaurant—every detail felt thoughtfully elevated in a way that made perfect sense. The meals were especially exceptional—clearly a step above any hotel we’ve stayed at before. The matsutake course and clay-pot rice were superb, and on our second night you prepared an entirely different menu from the first. To truly experience RETONA at its best (ideally in this villa suite), I strongly recommend staying at least two nights. (I’m sure other rooms are wonderful as well.) It became an unforgettable three days worthy of my daughter’s 12th birthday and our dog’s 6th birthday. We are deeply grateful to all staff members for your warm hospitality—including your attentive email communication even before arrival. If I may mention just one small point: there was a spider web on the ceiling above the sink area. We fully understand that insects are common given the natural surroundings—and it was minor enough for us to remove ourselves—but checking higher areas as well would make everything even more perfect. Next time we will definitely return as a family to stay in the same room again—perhaps in spring or summer—to enjoy seasonal dishes in another time of year. This has become one of my favorite luxury hotels; thank you very much for everything.
