The cuisine was outstanding. Each dish conveyed the chef’s heartfelt hospitality and was truly exquisite. Local ingredients were crafted into wonderful flavors. A taste that even supports the local community—I ended up buying local products at roadside stations on the way home. The Onsen was also excellent, and I could faintly see stars from the open-air bath in my Room. The view from the Room, comparable to a panoramic route, was also great. The cats were adorable too.

This was an Accommodation I’d wanted to visit for a long time. I was hoping for the riverside bath and a starry sky, but due to the river running high and cloudy weather, it didn’t happen. Still, the Accommodation was wonderful, so I was completely satisfied. At check-in, we were served delicious homemade sweets: hanamame beans with shiratama in kinako and kuromitsu. The proprietress and staff were very pleasant, and the hot spring bath—fed directly from the source—overflowed generously and felt amazing. The meals were beautifully presented using local ingredients, and we were happily full. The Room was clean and relaxing, with the sound of the river (it was quite loud this time because of the high water, but I’m sure it’s usually soothing). It was also lovely to see small wildflowers displayed throughout. It’s an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again and again. We will definitely return.

Thank you for the wonderful service—it made our stay truly exceptional. First, I accidentally made a Reservation with the wrong gender, but you quickly brought us yukata in different sizes, which was very helpful. With fewer guests staying, the attentive, personalized service really stood out. We also enjoyed the complimentary pudding—it was delicious. The Onsen was available at night as well, so we could relax and take our time. The bed felt a bit firm and slightly uncomfortable to sleep on, but other than that we had no complaints at all. Also, it was pouring rain at checkout, and you kindly handed us towels—this helped us so much. We truly appreciated your thoughtful attention to detail. We would love to stay here again when we visit Kusatsu.

Only 10 Rooms on a spacious property. The grove garden right in front of you is a private view (guests cannot enter), giving you the true feel of a vacation home. We were completely satisfied with everything—the Room, the semi-open-air bath in the Room, the open-air bath at the large public bath, and dinner featuring an array of premium ingredients considered luxurious in Japanese cuisine, as well as breakfast with just the right portion size. If we had to make one small request, it would be that the bath towels were a bit thicker.

We stayed for one night during the Obon holidays with my daughter’s family. My son-in-law was visiting Kusatsu Onsen for the first time, and he really enjoyed the delicious meals and the yumomi experience at the Ryokan. All of the staff were kind, and even our 9-month-old grandchild was able to enjoy it, making it a wonderful trip. We would like to stay at Sakurai Ryokan again.

This Accommodation’s Onsen was simply outstanding. The large public bath is divided into “Toki-no-Yu” and “Inishie-no-Yu,” and there are so many options—including indoor baths and open-air baths—that you can’t enjoy them all in just one night. There’s also a sauna, so it’s highly recommended for anyone who wants to sweat and unwind. Another small delight is the complimentary drink (Yakult) provided after your bath. Our Room had twin beds. It wasn’t huge, but it was calm and relaxing. When we opened the window early in the morning, we could hear birds singing—an experience you don’t usually get in the city center. It was such a wonderful Accommodation that we wanted to extend our stay.

Although the building is historic and compact, the cuisine—and even the tableware it is served on—are outstanding. The hot spring water comes from both the Yubatake source and the Ryokan’s own private source, each offering a distinct bathing experience. The staff are wonderful and exceptionally attentive. This is an Accommodation you will want to stay at again and again.

My spouse and I stayed in a log cabin for two nights with our Toy Poodle. Although the cabin is pet-friendly, it was very clean and well maintained, and we were able to relax comfortably. The large public bath and restaurant are in the main building, but there is an easy shortcut, so it only took about 3–4 minutes from our cabin and was no problem at all. Dinner was a carefully prepared kaiseki meal—delicious and more than enough. The breakfast buffet also featured many handmade dishes using local ingredients, which we really enjoyed. The woman at the restaurant was cheerful and kind, creating a pleasant atmosphere during our meals. With plenty of greenery, it was a great environment for our dog as well, and he looked happy on his walks. We would love to visit again with our dog.

This was our second stay, the first in two years. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, including local specialties unique to the area. Both the buffet staff and the front desk staff were very kind and attentive, which made our stay truly comfortable. In particular, the buffet staff explained things in a way that was easy for our child to understand and spoke to us in a friendly manner, which we really appreciated. When we stay in Kusatsu again, we would love to choose this Accommodation. Thank you very much.

We stayed in the Yuri Room, which comes with a semi-open-air bath. It features free-flowing Jizo hot spring water, one of our favorite sources in Kusatsu Onsen. The private Onsen was too hot to relax for long, but the in-room Onsen was at just the right temperature and very comfortable. We could enjoy both dinner and breakfast in the in-room dining area; it was a bit pricey, but choosing this room was absolutely worth it. The meals were not extravagant, but the portions were just right and the seasoning suited our taste.

To all the staff at Karuizawa Club Hotel 1130, thank you as always for your kind support. My family has stayed here many times over the past few years, and this time we were finally able to make a Reservation for the Premium Family Suite Room we had long hoped for, so we stayed yesterday. As its name suggests, it was the highest-grade Room among the many Rooms at Karuizawa Hotel 1130. There was an open-air jacuzzi bath on the balcony, and two indoor baths inside as well. There were also two restrooms, and four separate rooms in total—one of them a bedroom with a skylight that lets you gaze up at the sky. Because every space was so luxurious, my whole family was thrilled the moment we stepped into each room. We had reserved Japanese kaiseki at Yamaboshi well in advance, but it was changed to a buffet Plan. Just like in Hewitt Resort’s TV commercial, the buffet venue was beautiful and the selection was extensive. From the live kitchen at dinner to freshly made rice balls at breakfast, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff were all courteous and kind, which helped us greatly. We also visited the open-air bath at Onioshi Onsen; it had been renovated and made it easier to access directly from the indoor bath area. We will be staying one more night later this month as well, and we are looking forward to enjoying the same Premium Family Suite Room again. Each time we stay, this wonderful Hotel continues to evolve even further—and it has become our family’s favorite. I hope other guests can experience that same sense of excitement too. My spouse and I stayed here after a round of golf. Being able to stay at the adjacent Hotel after golf was very convenient, with no travel needed. It was also great to be able to soak in the Onsen after golf and relieve our fatigue. Dinner was a buffet, but it was in the same venue as lunch during golf, so we thought choosing a course meal might have been better. At breakfast there was someone cooking omelets, so we feel having a live kitchen at dinner as well would improve the quality of the buffet. While temperatures in the Kanto region were around 35°C, Tsumagoi Village had a high of about 28°C, which made it very comfortable. We would like to visit again as a summer retreat.

I was finally able to visit “Ura-Kusatsu Tou,” a place I’d been curious about for a long time. Located in the Ura-Kusatsu area, just a short distance from the bustle of Yubatake, the moment you step inside you’ll find a beautifully curated space where traditional craftsmanship and modern design come together. Every corner of the Accommodation is picture-perfect. From interiors accented with traditional crafts to warm, inviting lighting, you can feel the attention to detail throughout. It was an Accommodation with a calm atmosphere—perfect for an adults-only getaway. Relax from the core with “Jizo Gensen” The greatest highlight here is, of course, the Onsen fed by “Jizo Gensen.” Among Kusatsu’s many hot spring sources, “Jizo-no-Yu” is said to be rare due to its low output. Its gentle feel on the skin and subtle milky hue were wonderfully soothing, and I could truly relax from deep within. Not only in the large public bath but throughout the building, there are thoughtful touches that create a sense of gentle “sway,” making it feel as if everyday fatigue simply melts away. Dinner and breakfast were served in a serene dining space. Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious enough to make you happy with each bite. Breakfast also felt luxurious: colorful small plates lined up alongside freshly cooked rice. An Accommodation where you can fully enjoy both the Onsen and the cuisine—I left completely satisfied in both heart and stomach. The Room was spotless and comfortable—functional yet designed with a calming Japanese aesthetic. The staff maintained just the right level of attentiveness; thanks to their courteous service, my stay was pleasant from start to finish. It had been some time since my last visit to Kusatsu Onsen, but this trip helped me rediscover its charm all over again. This wonderful Accommodation lets you experience both the excellence of Jizo Gensen and modern comfort at once—somewhere I would love to return again.

I was able to stay in a private room at an affordable price. The building isn’t new, but you can enjoy a retro Showa-era vibe. The bath felt like it was all to myself, and it’s close to Yubatake!

I was a little unsure what an Onsen Accommodation that allows dogs would be like, but after staying there it was very comfortable and I was completely satisfied. The surrounding area is great for walks with your dog, and the breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of delicious dishes that made me feel happy from the morning. Of course, the Onsen water quality was excellent as well, and I was able to relax and enjoy my stay. I made wonderful memories with my dog. I would definitely like to stay again.

I stayed here this time because I wanted to relax in the Onsen. The large public bath fed by the Shirahata source was especially wonderful. The private bath with Yubatake water was hot, but I could take my time and unwind at my own pace, enjoying it while opening the window to cool off. I had seen in other Reviews that dinner is plentiful, so I held back from trying street food while exploring the area. As rumored, I was very satisfied with both the portion size and the taste. While I was dining, they prepared my futon and also thoughtfully replaced items like teacups and provided iced water—coming back from the Onsen to a refreshing drink of water was truly delightful. Stylish Accommodations such as Resort Hotels are popular these days, but this stay reminded me that a Japanese Ryokan feels most relaxing for Japanese guests. Thank you for a wonderful memory.

Good Points: - The building is well-constructed, so noise from neighbors or upstairs was hardly noticeable. - The staff paid attention to details, which was greatly appreciated. - The Room was odorless and clean. - Wi-Fi worked properly. - My request for a low pillow was accommodated perfectly. Areas for Improvement: - All the towels seemed to have an oily film and did not absorb water as well as new towels would. A fellow guest at the bath also mentioned that they had never encountered towels with such poor absorbency before. - The mirror was folded inside the closet, and I only noticed it at checkout when I wanted to use it. It would be helpful if it were placed in a more noticeable location.

We stayed on the Couple Plan, and we truly appreciated several services that were not listed in the Plan details, which were extremely helpful for sightseeing in Kusatsu. Services not mentioned in the Plan details: - Shuttle Service to Yubatake after dinner - Free yukata rental - Drop-off to the terminal at check-out - Complimentary coffee, chocolates, and massage chairs in the lounge - Free ice cream in the freezer In addition, both breakfast and dinner were excellent, with great attention to detail throughout—from presentation and side dishes to cooking methods. If we visit Kusatsu again, we would definitely like to stay here again.
