It was the hot season, so we stayed here on our first trip to Kita-Karuizawa. Since it was raining, we quickly visited Shiraito Falls and checked in after 3:00 pm. They said they installed air conditioning for the first time last year, but the window screens and fan were enough for us. There are two baths, and families can reserve them for private use; I enjoyed soaking twice by myself. The water felt soft and very pleasant. The Room also had POLA amenities, which was a nice touch. The refrigerator is shared, so you write your name on your items. Dinner uses local and homegrown vegetables and fruit, and everything was delicious. For the main dish there is beef or pork; the barley-fed pork roast was outstanding. The sauce was great, but it was delicious even with just salt and pepper. The salad dressing at dinner was also excellent. There are about 50 kinds of wine, and both extra coffee and alcoholic drinks are very reasonably priced. The breakfast bread was placed in a bag with warmed stones (?) inside, so it stayed warm and crispy—really tasty. The owner’s wife shared lots of information about nearby farm stands and the area around here, so on our way back—once the weather cleared—we stopped again at Kubo Farm, Tsuruya Karuizawa store, and the outlet mall before heading home. Vegetables and fruit are inexpensive there, making shopping really fun. I’ve come to love Kita-Karuizawa, and I think we’ll be staying here again next year as well. Thank you very much.

I stayed at Zen in Kusatsu Onsen, and while many accommodations now cost over 10,000 yen even with no meals included, this place was under 6,000 yen. The amenities were well-equipped, and the private rooms ensured privacy, which made me very satisfied. Additionally, there are day-use onsens nearby where I could fully enjoy Kusatsu Onsen. I would love to stay here again when touring in Kusatsu Onsen.

The Onsen is on the small side, but since there are only about eight guest groups, you can relax and enjoy it at your own pace. Meals are served in semi-private dining areas, so you can dine comfortably. The menu is more than satisfying, with pork shabu-shabu, a sashimi platter, and tempura. You can also enjoy the outdoor Onsen—just as you’d expect from Kusatsu Onsen.

This was my first stay here. At check-in, the owner kindly explained the area using a map, covering dining options, Onsen facilities, and everything from convenience stores to drugstores. The Facility is old, but it is well cleaned, and the bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water was great. The Room had new tatami mats, and the futon bedding was clean and comfortable. I would love to stay here again when I visit Kusatsu Onsen.

The Room was spacious, clean, and equipped with air conditioning! There is no Onsen at the Accommodation, but there is an Onsen nearby, and we were grateful to be able to purchase tickets for Otaki-no-Yu at 20% off. It seems you can also purchase tickets for Goza-no-Yu and Sai-no-Kawara Open-Air Bath at 20% off. They also stored our luggage even after check-out.

I stayed here for one night on the second night of my five-night solo trip to Kusatsu Onsen from Fukuoka, and I’m glad I was able to get a Reservation. I had heard that Kusatsu Onsen has various types of spring water, so I chose this Ryokan because it has a great reputation for its water quality and allows solo guests to enjoy the Onsen. Just as expected, the Onsen was truly wonderful, and I enjoyed soaking many times. I also visited several public baths—hot, tingling springs like Jizo-no-Yu felt great—but Gokurakukan’s comfortably warm Onsen was perfect for a long soak. It’s also recommended for those who don’t like very hot water. Towels were available in the Room as well as in the changing area by the bath, which was very convenient. Another nice point was being able to go to the Onsen without passing through the front desk, making it easy even early in the morning. The Room was clean, and the toilet was exceptionally spotless. I was happy to find Matsumura manju served with tea snacks. The free breakfast was delicious—the bread was wonderfully chewy. I also had dinner at the restaurant on the second floor; both the curry doria and carrot salad were excellent. At check-out, the owner and staff kindly gave me detailed sightseeing tips around Kusatsu. Thanks to them, I learned about Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano Prefecture and went there using car sharing. After waiting about 30 minutes, I was lucky enough to see monkeys soaking in an Onsen—it was amazing. The next day, I used car sharing again and enjoyed Ikaho’s hot spring buns and Mizusawa udon as well. It became a truly memorable solo trip. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, and next time I’d love to stay with my family—thank you very much.

We were able to fully enjoy the quiet, slow passage of time in the forest. The ceramics displayed like art pieces can also be used to serve food! A cottage in the woods that offers an experience you rarely get elsewhere. Thank you for a luxurious, soothing stay by the wood-burning stove. We’d love to visit again in a different season.

Good Points: - The building is well-constructed, so noise from neighbors or upstairs was hardly noticeable. - The staff paid attention to details, which was greatly appreciated. - The Room was odorless and clean. - Wi-Fi worked properly. - My request for a low pillow was accommodated perfectly. Areas for Improvement: - All the towels seemed to have an oily film and did not absorb water as well as new towels would. A fellow guest at the bath also mentioned that they had never encountered towels with such poor absorbency before. - The mirror was folded inside the closet, and I only noticed it at checkout when I wanted to use it. It would be helpful if it were placed in a more noticeable location.

It was difficult to find a property where we could stay together as a family, so I always left my elderly mother with my sister when traveling. The biggest issue was the toilet. However, there were two very clean and easy-to-use toilets, so our whole family could stay. My second daughter is not fond of public baths and couldn't often enjoy onsen, but she was very satisfied with the private onsen. The room was also very clean and easy to use, and the barrier-free facilities were appreciated. Thank you for fulfilling our family's wish. The owner was also very kind. We definitely want to use it again.

It was quiet, and the staff were kind. The place was well cleaned and very tidy. Buying groceries as a family and enjoying a meal in a different living room than usual was fun. What concerned me was that the washing machine lid seemed to have poor contact, so it wouldn’t go through to the spin cycle, and the living room air conditioner remote had dead batteries.

We stayed with four people and one Maltipoo. It is a little far from the Yubatake, but there is also a dedicated parking lot near the Yubatake that guests can use, which was very helpful. Until check-in, we left our dog at a pet hotel a few minutes’ walk from the Accommodation and enjoyed the Onsen at the Yubatake; after check-in, we all relaxed in the spacious Room. The parking area was also large and easy to park in. Thank you very much.

A traditional Onsen Accommodation. The Room has no air conditioning and feels very retro, but it is very comfortable. The bath is on the hotter side, but the water is very soft, so even if it’s hot you can soak for a long time. Breakfast was also very delicious. The staff were very kind and welcoming. I really like this kind of Accommodation.

We stayed here for a three-generation family trip. We had a very pleasant stay throughout our trip. The Accommodation was well stocked with amenities and supplies, and we were comfortable with everything we needed. The young children especially loved the outdoor hammock, the indoor darts, and the card games. We also had the chance to meet the owner, who was very kind, so we felt at ease during our stay. We all agreed that we would definitely choose this Accommodation again when we are in the area. Thank you very much.

Both the Facility and the Room were very clean! Even cleaner than other well-maintained Accommodations. The meals were delicious, and after gradually getting used to Kusatsu’s characteristically hot Onsen, I felt refreshed for the first time in a while and slept soundly. I was surprised at first that there was no air conditioner, but with the windows fully open and using a fan and a handheld fan, it was not a problem at all. I stayed with my daughter, and we will definitely return. Thank you very much.

I’m a returning guest. Following last year, I stayed again this year for a workcation. The kind couple made our stay wonderful, and our dog was very happy too. I hope to come back again next year. Thank you very much for everything!

I stayed here this time because I wanted to relax in the Onsen. The large public bath fed by the Shirahata source was especially wonderful. The private bath with Yubatake water was hot, but I could take my time and unwind at my own pace, enjoying it while opening the window to cool off. I had seen in other Reviews that dinner is plentiful, so I held back from trying street food while exploring the area. As rumored, I was very satisfied with both the portion size and the taste. While I was dining, they prepared my futon and also thoughtfully replaced items like teacups and provided iced water—coming back from the Onsen to a refreshing drink of water was truly delightful. Stylish Accommodations such as Resort Hotels are popular these days, but this stay reminded me that a Japanese Ryokan feels most relaxing for Japanese guests. Thank you for a wonderful memory.

This Accommodation has only five Rooms, yet it has two private baths, and you can use them anytime if they are available. I used them four times. The hot water was excellent. It’s a 4-minute walk to Yubatake, but there are many slopes, so it was great to relax in the Accommodation’s private baths. There is also a convenience store nearby. The breakfast was generous and delicious! All the staff were very kind.

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days with two adults and one dog. The high ceiling created an amazing sense of openness the moment we entered the Room, and the greenery spreading across the windows was even more beautiful than we imagined! We had a relaxing time cooking with ingredients bought at a local supermarket, listening to music, and unwinding—it was truly refreshing. We would love to stay again.

We arrived early, but the car navigation showed the wrong Hotel location, and we got lost in the snow. The sign was also hard to see because of the snow, so I think it’s better to check on a smartphone map. The room and meals were very good, with warm homemade food. We visited Suwa before coming, and I didn’t expect Gunma to have so much snow. Last year there wasn’t much snow, so we came with regular tires; next time we’ll come with studless winter tires. We made it home safely.

It was worth extending our trip from Karuizawa to Kusatsu Onsen just to visit Kimuraya. We truly enjoyed a relaxing time, and the Shirahata no Yu with its free-flowing Onsen water was so smooth it felt like it embraced the body. Even my husband, who isn’t particularly fond of hot springs, seemed to appreciate its charm and went in multiple times. The staff members were all wonderful as well.
