From the outside it is a simple Western-style building, but once you step inside, it feels grand and luxurious. The location is excellent: Lake Suwa spreads out right in front of you, and every room comes with its own open-air hot spring bath with free-flowing natural spring water. The water quality is wonderful, and every carefully selected furnishing is of exceptional quality. I also appreciated the in-room massage chair, and the coffee setup was great—you can grind the beans yourself and brew a delicious cup while enjoying the aroma. I worried that such a fluffy bed might hurt my back, but it was truly comfortable. The feather pillow was perfect as well; I slept soundly and woke up refreshed the next morning. With your stay, you also receive complimentary bathing tickets for Katakurakan. In addition, there are free-flow drinks available in the 3rd-floor lounge—soft drinks, rooibos tea, and even wine (just a tasting portion). Dinner can be enjoyed as a full course meal, and they selected local wines for pairing; it was an outstanding experience. I was also touched when the chef came to greet us personally. They were very flexible with the course menu as well—we were able to choose different courses for each of us, which really showed how accommodating this hotel is. Car-wash service—which has disappeared at many places—is still offered here, which impressed me again. Seeing my car polished to a shine the next morning genuinely made me happy. I have stayed at many renowned hotels and ryokan over the years, but receiving this level of service at this price point makes this an easy choice for my go-to hotel from now on. There are so many more memorable moments that I could not possibly write them all here—but I hope everyone experiences it for themselves and discovers what makes this hotel so special. We stayed here for our second night. We were blessed with great weather—it was perfect. Since we arrived early, we visited Otaki Falls nearby, but the valley was deep and the elevation changes were intense, leaving us completely exhausted. (There were some fallen trees and rockfalls, so we had to take a detour.) This is a wonderful auberge, just as reputed. That day it was only our group, so we fully enjoyed the private bath, and the Room was lovely—we could relax and truly enjoy a cool summer getaway. Every dish was delicious, and the wine at dinner was outstanding. We were especially impressed by the peach dessert. The owners’ warm hospitality was exceptional—this has become an Accommodation we definitely want to visit again.

The food was delicious and wonderfully unique! Clear soup with junsai and clams (in addition to a hearty miso soup!), plus plenty of seasonal fruit (Shine Muscat grapes, red and green-fleshed melon), Matsumoto watermelon, and more. Everything felt more thoughtfully prepared than what I’ve had elsewhere, and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

My husband and I stayed at this Accommodation for one night during a two-day drive from Tokyo to Suwa and Narai-juku. Everyone on the staff was truly kind and attentive, and thanks to their warm hospitality we had a wonderful, enjoyable time. Right by the lakeside, we were able to relax in the open-air bath in our Room and fully enjoy the luxury of free-flowing natural hot spring water. The rooftop infinity bath was also very pleasant. The meals featured locally sourced ingredients, and we enjoyed dishes that felt uniquely Shinshu. There were many tableware items, furnishings, and pieces of furniture that matched my taste. We would love to visit again in a different season. The pass tour visiting four shrines was also excellent.

It was my first stay in two months. Everything was clean, and I had a comfortable stay. The Room mirror had been changed to a different one than before, and it was very convenient for doing my makeup. Also, the gentleman at the front desk greeted me with a wonderful smile, which made me feel welcome. I’m planning to visit again in autumn.

The location right in front of Lake Suwa was excellent, and the room was clean. The meals, featuring mainly local specialties, were very delicious. We also really enjoyed the bus tour visiting the four major Suwa shrines—the guide’s explanations were thorough and easy to follow. We would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.

I had a very comfortable stay. Both the property and the Room were clean and well maintained, with thorough housekeeping. The meals were delicious and served in just the right portions. The staff’s service was naturally friendly and made me feel at ease. The only disappointment was that I was looking forward to a beer after my bath, but there was no shop or vending machine, so I had to wait until dinner. That said, this is a rather indulgent request given how well stocked the drink bar in the lobby is. It was an Accommodation I would like to visit again.

I stayed here to relax and unwind on my own. From the exterior alone it was exactly my style, and the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the wonderful scent of wood—perfect. Although it’s surrounded by nature, there are shops nearby, so I felt safe and comfortable even traveling solo. The room was spotless and very comfortable. I was thrilled by the new, beautiful building. The minibar-inspired table setting in the room made it feel like a special escape from everyday life. Dinner featured luxurious ingredients such as foie gras, truffles, and sea urchin, and the requested Omi beef tenderloin steak was perfectly sized and wonderfully tender. From start to dessert, it was an unforgettable dining experience. The fresh salad and fruit at breakfast were excellent, and above all, the French toast was outstanding—like a soft, custard-like pudding inside a baguette. I could truly feel the thoughtful hospitality of every staff member reflected in the meals, the room furnishings, and throughout the entire property.

Thank you very much for your prompt and kind support when my wife’s condition suddenly worsened and required emergency assistance. We are also truly grateful for your thoughtfulness in preparing a breakfast box for us when we returned from the hospital. The room was new and very clean, and they kindly stored our luggage both before check-in and after check-out. The staff were very friendly and helpful. For breakfast, you can choose either kamameshi (rice cooked in an iron pot) or toast; we chose the kamameshi, which was hearty and delicious.

We decided to stay here the day before. The food and rice were delicious, and we were truly impressed by the many dishes thoughtfully created to pair perfectly with the rice. The menu wasn’t overcomplicated, which was wonderful. The clean, beautifully prepared dishes—centered around locally grown vegetables—were outstanding. The bath had no steps, so it felt safe and reassuring for bringing my elderly mother. The complimentary beer service was also excellent. There wasn’t a single negative point. Thank you for a wonderful time and experience.

The Room and the entire property were very clean, and we also enjoyed the garden view from the hallway. Although it was a Japanese-style Room, it had a desk and chair, which made it easy to do my makeup. After soaking in the Onsen, my skin felt so smooth the next day, and I was able to check out feeling truly happy!

The room was lovely, and the lobby had a charming, calming atmosphere. The rattan chair in the room was incredibly comfortable—the springiness of the carefully handwoven backrest was excellent. We had to leave early in the morning for golf so we couldn’t have breakfast, but we were pleasantly surprised by how high the standard of dinner was. It wasn’t served in the room, but we were able to enjoy it at a relaxed pace in a private dining room. The couple traveling with us also loved it. Highly recommended for adults-only stays. We’ll be back.

From the moment we arrived, the staff warmly welcomed us, and check-in was smooth. Everyone was highly professional, and the property was spotless, making our stay very comfortable. The meals were delicately flavored, and the portions were just right—not too much or too little. Both dinner and breakfast felt perfectly balanced. The baths are cleaned once between check-in and the next morning, with a switch between men’s and women’s times, but we were happy that we could use them multiple times even late at night or early in the morning.

The Room had a wonderful atmosphere and was very clean! The loungewear was also very comfortable—excellent! Since it is free-flowing hot spring water, the bath temperature was around 43°C and too hot for our child to soak in, which was a bit disappointing. But other than that, we have no complaints.

We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath during Silver Week. The Room was on the 2nd floor of the annex, and it was just the right size, clean, and well maintained, so we were able to relax in the in-room open-air bath. Dinner was a special kaiseki course and everything was delicious, and the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes—especially the thick-cut tuna sashimi and sweet shrimp, which were very fresh and tasty. If we visit Suwa again, this is a Hotel we would like to stay at again.

We stayed here to celebrate a birthday trip. They delivered an externally ordered cake from their partner Kazeka to our Room exactly as requested, and everything—the Room, the open-air bath, the meals, and the hospitality of the staff—was truly wonderful. It was a very satisfying stay, and we would love to visit again if we have the chance. Thank you very much.

This Accommodation is very popular and hard to book, but I was lucky to get a Reservation and this is my second stay. The building is old, so you can hear noise from outside the Room, but once you get used to it, it’s not an issue. The meals are generous and delicious—I almost worry it’s okay to stay at such a low price. I still haven’t seen all the nearby sights, so I’d love to come again.

We stayed with our 5-year-old daughter to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were originally looking for an auberge around the Yatsugatake area, but there are only a limited number of Accommodations that welcome small children. This Accommodation not only allows children (they truly make them feel welcome!), and I had long been interested in aqua tourism, so we decided right away. It turned out to be the perfect choice! We were moved by the open, expansive view from the living room and impressed by the tasteful touches throughout. Soon after arriving, we walked to a nearby field for the vegetable harvesting experience our daughter had been looking forward to. Surrounded by clear air at the foot of Yatsugatake’s magnificent nature, she touched the soil and picked colorful seasonal vegetables—an incredibly fresh and valuable experience that’s hard to have in the city. Our daughter is usually very shy with strangers, but she quickly warmed up to the owners’ kind personalities. We were amazed to see her happily harvesting vegetables with the husband on her own, away from us. The meals honored the natural flavors of each ingredient, and our whole family was genuinely impressed. The husband mentioned his cooking isn’t flashy, but it was truly exceptional—food that conveyed his love for ingredients and his desire to share deliciousness with others, nourishing both body and soul. They also pay great attention to tableware, so it was a pleasure enjoying not only the food but also admiring each piece. They prepared a children’s meal plate for our daughter, but it was so delicious that she also ate from our dishes—and even had seconds at breakfast and finished everything. Before checkout on day two, we joined a herbal tea blending experience. The wife taught us gently and carefully, and our daughter enjoyed it as well. It was educational, and her calm presence made it a soothing time. At checkout, while we were busy getting ready to leave, they kindly kept our daughter company. Seeing how attached she had become truly touched us. The couple’s warm personalities and thoughtful care, wonderful food, rich surrounding nature setting,, beautiful interior details—everything was outstandingand left us feeling warm inside.. I think this is an ideal Accommodation for relaxing slowly at your own pace. Onon thhe way home,, myy daughteer murmured,, “I won’t getto see big brotherand big sister anymore?
