True to its claim of being an “auberge,” this Accommodation’s cuisine was genuinely outstanding. The presentation, tableware, and seasoning—everything was superb, and I’d rate the food among the very best of anywhere we’ve stayed. We were told even the small details, like dressings and ponzu sauce, are handmade, and you could feel the care put into every single dish. Each piece of tableware had its own character as well, making it a feast for the eyes. The dining area features calm table seating that feels like semi-private rooms. Each course was explained carefully, and my husband and I were so impressed we lost count of how many times we said “delicious” and “amazing.” The portions were more than enough—we were both completely full. We also ordered the recommended extra horse sashimi, which was excellent. Breakfast is Japanese-style as well—beautifully arranged like a kaiseki set—and we were very satisfied with everything from a salad made with fresh local vegetables to drinkable yogurt and even after-meal coffee. My husband was especially impressed by how good the rice was, while I really enjoyed the rice porridge. The Onsen is true free-flowing natural spring water; every time we entered the bath, hot water overflowed generously from the tub—a luxury we enjoyed again and again. The two private baths are also spacious and felt wonderful. You can sense some age in the building and Facility features, but everything is well maintained and spotlessly clean throughout. That said, the air conditioner is an older model and difficult to adjust; in particular, it was hard to control airflow in the upstairs bedroom of our maisonette room type, which was a bit disappointing. Also, for greater peace of mind regarding hygiene, it would be reassuring if the in-room fabric slippers were either disposable or came with clearly indicated sanitation management. All staff members were courteous; their explanations—even for delicate details about each dish—were easy to understand, and we never felt any stress in communication. There were a few minor Facility-related points that stood out, but they were more than outweighed by our satisfaction with the cuisine, Onsen experience, and service. The food especially left such a strong impression that my husband and I still talk about how truly delicious it was. It was late summer then with lively cicada songs still filling the air—but we would love to return to enjoy seasonal dishes at another time of year as well.

It’s a bit far from Tokyo, but I’m truly glad we stayed here! The property was very clean, and the lounge had plenty of drinks—my excitement started the moment we arrived. For dinner, we ordered horse sashimi and a three-sake tasting set separately, and it was amazing. Highly recommended. Breakfast was also delicious across the board. The Onsen was relaxing since it was always empty whenever we went (not just the private one), and we were also able to use the baths at a larger affiliated Hotel, which made us very satisfied. The Room was comfortable, and I slept soundly. Above all, the warm hospitality from all the staff made us feel at ease. We’ll definitely be back again. Thank you for taking such great care of us.

Although it is an older building, it is well cared for and kept very clean. Thank you very much to the proprietress and all the staff. If checkout were at 11:00, we could have had a more relaxed morning... We would love to stay again.

The Room also has a private Onsen bath, and there are four private baths as well—an impressive level of facilities for a pension. The meals offered many dishes, were beautifully colorful, and were very satisfying. We felt thoughtful attention to detail throughout. This is an Accommodation we’d like to return to. We requested an after-bath beer at check-in; we probably should have put it in the refrigerator. It would have been nice to have local craft beer, and we only realized later that we could exchange the in-house wear size, so we rated it 4—but overall it’s basically all 5s. We could also see Lake Inawashiro from the Room.

I was able to spend a relaxing, luxurious time and truly feel refreshed. Although there aren’t many washing stations in the bath area, each one is separated by partitions, which made it easy to use at my own pace without worrying about others. There was plenty of space, and I enjoyed a very comfortable soak. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and everything from the appetizers onward was delicious. At breakfast, I appreciated being able to choose between rice or rice porridge; the sansho-seasoned baby sardines and lightly seasoned eggplant were especially memorable. The staff’s hospitality was warm and attentive, making my stay comfortable from arrival to departure. I’m truly glad I chose Shikisai Ichiriki.

Butterbur Shinoda rolls, vinegared dried taro stems, and the breakfast pumpkin soup—everything beyond the main dish was also delicious, with the chef’s kindness and sure touch coming through. The in-room dining service, delivered with just the right timing and a comfortable sense of distance (without over-explaining), is especially appealing. The Onsen in the Room was silky and seemed to cling to the skin; even after returning home, I felt my skin looked “whiter” and noticed a brightening effect. Highly recommended.

It was our first stay, and it was a wonderful Accommodation that made us want to come back. The entire building has tatami flooring, so there’s no need for slippers, which made it comfortable even with children. Everything felt very clean, the food was delicious, and we also enjoyed being able to choose what we liked from the half-buffet. Above all, the staff’s hospitality was truly warm and memorable. They were kind to our child as well, making it an Accommodation where our family could relax without any worries.

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Overall, it was comfortable. The bath on the 7th floor had a fairly lukewarm tub, which was great because soaking in it after the hotter tub let us enjoy a longer time without overheating. On the other hand, the bath on the 1st floor has only four washing stations. While there are multiple tubs, most are so small that they barely fit one or two people, so I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you visit on a quiet day or specifically want to try several small baths. Meals (both breakfast and dinner) changed between the first and second night, so even with a Multiple Night Stay we didn’t get bored. You can enjoy many different dishes in small portions, and there’s also a special, creative feel to them. Everything was tasty, but not so impressive that it’s worth setting your expectations too high. The fish dishes were average; the meat dishes were very good. It was also nice that you can order Fukushima sake and other drinks for an additional fee. All staff were warm and welcoming. The Room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. We could see nature through large windows, and the amenities/Facility were well equipped: a large desk with a sturdy chair, a powerful hair dryer, a full-length mirror (stand mirror), tea and coffee, etc. However, it was disappointing that the desk drawer hit the chair armrests making it hard to pull up close to the desk, and that the light on the stand mirror had dead batteries. Since we stayed during Obon season there were many families with children, so it may not suit those looking for a quiet adults-only atmosphere. Also, since it said “no cleaning unless requested” for Multiple Night Stay guests we didn’t ask for anything—but staff still entered our Room to replace amenities without warning us first. This part of their guidance is unclear. There are hardly any shops nearby such as convenience stores, so it’s not ideal if you plan to sightsee only in the immediate area. It seems better suited either for going out toward the station area or for relaxing at this Accommodation. We didn’t use it ourselves, but they also appear to offer a free Shuttle Service bus to another affiliated Onsen.

We stayed as a family to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our wedding anniversary. From the moment we checked in, we were amazed by the spacious, wonderful Room you prepared for us. When we checked out, we learned that it had been upgraded free of charge, which truly moved us even more. At dinner, you even prepared a fruit platter to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our anniversary—thank you so much. Our whole family was touched by your warm thoughtfulness. The Onsen also offered a great variety, and we enjoyed bathing many times. Most memorable of all was the dinner buffet. Not only was every dish delicious, but each time limited-quantity items were announced one after another, we found ourselves excitedly wondering what would come next as we enjoyed our meal. Thanks to the Room, the Onsen, the meals, and above all the warm hospitality of your staff, this trip became an unforgettable memory for our entire family. After returning home, my husband and children told me, “Thanks to you, Mom, it was such a wonderful trip. Let’s do it again.” That made this trip especially joyful for me as well. I sincerely appreciate all of your kindness and consideration. We look forward to visiting again as a family someday. Thank you very much.

I stayed here after hiking Mount Bandai. I was looking for an accommodation with a good view and reasonable price. As mentioned in other reviews, the view of Lake Inawashiro was excellent, and the facility was clean and comfortable. Before my stay, the staff kindly provided recommendations on where to eat and directions to a supermarket. Despite rising costs of goods and labor these days, this accommodation offers comfort at an affordable price through thoughtful efforts. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance. The room is also spacious.

The open-air bath at 6:00 a.m. was amazing. The clear weather was wonderful too. Being wrapped in morning mist—like bathing in the clouds—was also incredible. We’ll definitely be back.

On October 29th, I stayed with my partner. As a Kyoto resident, I have a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, and without a doubt, Manyotei is the best accommodation. We set an average budget of 50,000 yen for two people per night with two meals included. We travel six times a year for a total of 12 nights annually and have continued this tradition into our 74th year. Looking back on our experiences, this accommodation definitely ranks in the top three. The reasons are: 1. The dinner and breakfast are exceptionally delicious. 2. The natural Onsen springs at pH 2.1 and nearly 70°C (the morning open-air bath is especially popular). 3. Breakfast starts leisurely at 7:30 AM due to its proximity to Mount Bandai's surroundings. 4. All guests were Japanese (perhaps because it’s a Ryokan or by coincidence?). 5. The staff's hospitality was impeccable. This is truly one of those rare accommodations we want to visit again! Highly recommended for retired couples traveling together. Manyotei is an ideal choice for those who enjoy Nyuto Onsen or Myounoyu Onsen. We will definitely return—thank you very much!

The service exceeded the price, and we were very satisfied with the meals. The evening events—Aibase! and Odoransho—were interactive and a lot of fun. We’d love to visit again in a different season. They also offer a great selection of local Fukushima sake, which is wonderful for anyone who enjoys Japanese sake.

This trip was planned as a motorcycle touring trip with an overnight stay. When I arrived at the Accommodation, the front desk staff kindly guided my motorcycle to a covered area and even provided an umbrella, which I really appreciated. The bath wasn’t large, but it was more than satisfactory. Above all, I can highly recommend the meals. Dinner was very satisfying, like a course meal—from meat and sashimi to pudding for dessert. And breakfast? It also offered a variety of delicious items such as grilled fish, and just like dinner I went back for seconds of rice. I’d like to stay here again when visiting the Fukushima area. From the Room I could see Lake Inawashiro; it was quiet around there and I slept very well.

I stayed here last year as well and am a returning guest. The baths are great, the meals are excellent, and while the Facility isn’t new, it feels well maintained and cared for. The staff were pleasant and attentive, and I was very satisfied. I was able to relax, but the enjoyable time flew by. I’d like to come again in a different season.

There was no comb in the Room, so I had to go to the large public bath to get one. It was my first time staying at an Accommodation that didn’t provide a comb in the Room, so that’s the only amenity I’d rate -1. Other than that, my family and I were very satisfied and able to relax at our own pace! Both the in-room open-air bath and the large public bath have skin-beautifying hot spring water, and my skin felt wonderfully smooth—very happy with it!

I stayed here for the Onsen, but the food was delicious, and the staff were very kind. The building and the room were old, but I liked the nostalgic atmosphere. When leaving, the grandmother of the Ryokan waved until my car was out of sight, which touched my heart. I had a wonderful time.

We stayed as a family during the Obon holiday. It was a charming Japanese-style accommodation with a cozy atmosphere, beautifully decorated with carefully selected furnishings, and impeccably clean hallways that sparkled! Since it accommodates only two groups per day, it was quiet, and we enjoyed having the onsen all to ourselves. Dinner featured plenty of local dishes, though I couldn't finish everything and felt sorry about it. The only downside was running out of cold water and having to go buy some early in the morning. One concern was that the sound of the flush from the room's toilet echoed throughout the room at night, making it hard to sleep. I believe this might be due to structural issues but found it bothersome!

It was quiet and relaxing! Thank you very much. The kitchenware was well-equipped, which was very helpful! It would have been nice to have some plastic wrap, though! I should have brought some myself. Thank you for your hospitality.

We stayed for three nights during the New Year holiday for skiing. The bath operates on a time-sharing system, allowing families to relax together. The large bathtub was perfect for warming up our tired and cold bodies. The meals offered a wide variety of dishes, and both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. The staff kindly accommodated even our small requests, which was very helpful. Thanks to this, we had an incredibly enjoyable ski trip. Thank you so much! The ski resort is a bit far on foot, so traveling by rental car was more convenient.
