I stayed here for the first time in decades, bringing my parents along. The draft beer welcome drink was perfect after arriving in the heat and helped us relax right away. Our Room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable, and the pleasant music playing when we entered made us feel truly welcomed. We were able to enjoy both Onsen baths at a leisurely pace without running into many other guests. The Onsen on the lower floor in particular had excellent water quality, and the ice cream after bathing was delicious. Both dinner and breakfast featured many local ingredients, and everything—vegetables, seafood, and meat—was wonderful. I was especially impressed by the shelled gazami uni (sea urchin), which is hard to find in the Kanto area. Before dinner, we were also shown around the wooden dining building; it was outstanding, and I hope it will be carefully preserved for years to come. After dinner we had drinks at the bar, where the calm atmosphere made it easy to unwind. From check-in to being driven back to the station on departure day, everyone—including the proprietress and all staff—was courteous with just the right sense of distance. It was a truly satisfying stay, and I would love to return.

I stayed here again for the first time in five years. The food and service felt much improved, which was a pleasant surprise. For example, the rice at breakfast was excellent—among the best I’ve had in Yamagata. I also enjoyed chatting with the staff and had a great time. I’d like to visit again soon.

This was my first stay. (Room name: Akebono-an) It was extremely comfortable, and I was able to relax and take my time. All of the staff were very kind, and it left a strong impression on me how they always greeted me with a smile. In particular, the staff member in charge of our Room supported us thoughtfully in every way—from day-to-day needs to sightseeing advice and suggestions—and I truly appreciated it. They also kindly accommodated a change to the Shuttle Service pickup/drop-off location due to our circumstances, and they handled food allergies properly as well, so we were able to stay with peace of mind. The Room had a modern, sophisticated design and was wonderful. Everything was thoroughly cleaned down to the smallest details, and it felt very fresh and spotless. I was also happy that it even had a mist sauna. Above all, the mountain views from the Room were spectacular, and we could spend time leisurely while enjoying the open scenery. Also, because meals were served in-room, we could relax in a quiet environment without worrying about surrounding noise—this was another highlight. The amenities (such as Touvert lotion) were high quality as well, and you could feel the attention to detail throughout. On the other hand, there were a few points that I felt could make it even more comfortable. If a hair iron were provided, it would be more convenient for women. Also, for indoor slippers within the building: rather than using them only up to the shoe cabinet partway down the corridor, I felt it would be clearer if guests could wear them all the way to each Room entrance—so you don’t have to walk barefoot or risk slippers being mixed up. Regarding the Room design: I thought removing closet doors and making it open would not only improve usability but also better match the current modern and refined atmosphere. The lighting around the washbasin area was slightly dim, which felt somewhat inconvenient when getting ready. I moved a tabletop mirror into the dining area to do my makeup; if that area could be made brighter around the sink counter, it would be easier to use. Also regarding shower fixtures: having an additional holder positioned at a height suitable for showering while standing would be even more convenient. I’ve listed several requests above; however overall this was an extremely satisfying stay. Thanks to everyone’s warm hospitality among your staff members at this Accommodation , we were able to spend our time comfortably and at ease. We would love to visit again.

We stayed as a family gathering with relatives, including five preschool children. The entire Accommodation (lobby, Room, etc.) was kept very clean, so our stay was comfortable. Since the children were constantly full of energy, we requested a private dining room for meals. You provided a very spacious room, and the food was refined and delicious, using local ingredients. Everyone’s hospitality was wonderful and welcoming, and we would like to stay here again for our next family gathering. Thank you very much for your thoughtful care in many ways.

It has been a while since the head chef moved, but we visited Daichu this time because we thought we could enjoy the chef’s cuisine there. We also wanted to try sea urchin in this season. Until last year, we went to the annex for it, but we assumed it would be the same and chose Daichu instead. (We had visited several times before for the private day-use baths.) We were able to spend a truly enjoyable time, meeting familiar staff as well as new faces. It really felt like coming back again. There is no bath in the Room, but you can use any of the three private baths whenever you like, and we enjoyed delicious sea urchin, great drinks, and obanzai as well—completely satisfied. We were also finally able to see the head chef again. He looked well, which put us at ease as we headed home. We would love to visit again in a different season.

The room was clean and comfortable. Above all, the breakfast was excellent. I was surprised to see beef tongue served for breakfast. Although I usually don't eat much breakfast, I had seconds of both rice and beef tongue. The beef curry was also delicious. If I visit Shiroishi again, I would definitely like to stay here again. We arrived a little after 3:00 pm, and they were waiting to welcome us at the entrance, which gave the place a classic, long-established feel. The building has a sense of history, and the Showa-era atmosphere was very comfortable for me. There was an abundance of food, and as seniors we couldn’t finish it all—what a shame (laugh).

A prior Review mentioned that there were many foreign staff, and it felt like most of the staff were non-Japanese. However, their Japanese was very good and the service was fine, so it didn’t bother me. Amenities are placed in the lobby and you take what you need yourself. They had plenty, including toner, makeup remover, shampoo, etc. You can drink coffee and tea for free at the cafe corner, which was a nice service. The meals were mainly Japanese cuisine and were delicious. Personally, I loved the stylish and cute small plates used for the dishes. The bath was pleasant too, but I felt there weren’t enough hair dryers. Especially for women who need more time to dry their hair, I ended up thinking I’d have to wait my turn… and that it might be faster to go back to my Room with wet hair and dry it there. The view from the Room was great and was the best part. The mountains and river looked beautiful—wonderful scenery.

On my first driving trip to the Tohoku region, I wasn’t sure what time I would arrive at the Hotel, but they were very accommodating and helpful even though I arrived well past the check-in time.

The price is incredibly affordable, and breakfast is included. Above all, the staff are very friendly, so I would like to stay again if I have the chance. Just one thing: while sleeping in bed, I could hear mosquitoes. Honestly, it may be unavoidable, but I felt it would be helpful if the Room had mosquito coils or other preventive measures.

Everything was excellent, including the surrounding environment. The staff and the proprietress were all impeccable in their hospitality. Thank you very much. We will visit again in November to see the autumn leaves.

Stayed after visiting Matsushima! The kids enjoyed making prayer beads at Entsuin Temple. We also lined up for 30 minutes before opening to try the famous Sendai beef tongue, and it was worth the wait—delicious! Check-in and check-out times being separate was a bit inconvenient. We received a breakfast coupon and took out drinks on our way back—thank you! However, it would have been even better if that discount could be applied to the Room rate instead. The Onsen was amazing and left us impressed. It would have been perfect if there were one more bedroom. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the stars due to rain, but the kids loved the large bed—thank you so much!

Although we arrived later than planned and felt uneasy in the dark due to the rain, we managed to reach safely. Having streetlights or lights in the parking area might have made parking easier. The room had a thoughtful message, and the lights and heating were already on, which made us feel at ease. Thank you very much. The Onsen was perfect, especially since it was cold. As it rained the next day as well, we chose to relax in the room and enjoyed soaking in the Onsen from the morning. We were very satisfied with both the atmosphere of the room and its facilities. Next time, we hope to enjoy dining on the terrace on a sunny day. Thank you for your hospitality!
