Compared with my memory of staying at a Super Hotel in Okayama about 27 years ago, it has evolved unbelievably—and it was fantastic. Since hotels in central Tokyo are expensive on Fridays, I’m glad I chose this Akabane location a little outside the center. The room had a wide lower bed and a loft bed you climb up to, but we were basically just sleeping there, and both were fluffy and comfortable. The trash bin was large and clearly separated for sorting. Even though the room is compact, it’s fine for two people for one night—there were two outlets by the tissue box as well, and with a power strip it’s more than enough. Here are the highlights: The breakfast buffet is inexpensive yet very satisfying and delicious. The Tokyo milk, croissants, eggs, and other dishes were all great. Even though space is limited, there’s a carbonated public bath—and you can use it continuously from night through morning, which is wonderful. Of course I went twice. I was exhausted, but soaking first thing in the morning woke me right up. There are plenty of amenities available at the front desk; I like higher pillows so I could borrow one, and they even had sheet masks. The loungewear comes as separate top and bottom pieces (like at a massage place), with multiple sizes to choose from. No checkout procedure needed. Breakfast has become incredibly luxurious compared to what it used to be (just bread and coffee). The bedding is fluffy. Just one request: the room lighting is quite dim. For makeup application, I’d really appreciate having even just one very bright white light near the TV area. I brought my own lighted mirror so I managed fine, but without one it would be difficult. It’s also convenient—one train line from Tokyo Station and close to the station—so honestly better value than paying high prices in central Tokyo. Having twin beds (not just doubles) for two people was great too: enjoy breakfast buffet options galore after picking up amenities at the front desk before heading to that relaxing public bath! Even the disposable shampoo/conditioner quality was perfectly fine. I’m glad we didn’t force ourselves into an overpriced hotel downtown. Also worth mentioning: there’s a tasty champon restaurant on the way from the station to the hotel that’s open until 10:30 p.m.

Honestly, I liked it so much that I almost don’t want to spread the word through Reviews (lol). This time, I prioritized access from the station and price, and since my stay was short, I made a Reservation with almost no expectations for the Hotel. But in the best way possible, it completely exceeded them. All of the staff are simply wonderful. Stylish but not pretentious, with a comfortable sense of distance—they naturally check in on you at just the right moments. The amenities in front of reception are well stocked, and you can select everything you need. They even have pajamas, and the amenities selection is so complete you’ll think, “Is there anything missing?”! The welcome tea set made me go, “Wait—why is this so stylish?” Everything was delicious. You can really feel how much care went into that welcome tea set. Absolutely amazing! The burgers at the first-floor café were also surprisingly good. Room service hours had already ended, so I had one for lunch instead! I didn’t use it this time, but apparently there’s all-you-can-drink beer from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM!! And above all, the handwritten guide introducing Yanesen around the Hotel was fantastic. It’s handmade by staff and covers everything from restaurants to cafés to sightseeing spots—you can truly feel their desire for guests to enjoy the neighborhood. Depending on your purpose, a Hotel often ends up being just a place to sleep—but here, for the first time in a while, I felt that “staying at the Hotel itself is fun.” …That said, I kind of don’t want it to become too famous and crowded (lol). Next time I’m in Tokyo, I definitely want to stay here again.
