We wanted to stop by Chuson-ji at the end of our Tohoku trip, and were able to stay at the Accommodation we’d had our eye on—Oshu Hiraizumi Onsen Ryokan—at a great price with an Iwate discount coupon. Just as the Reviews said, every dish made with local ingredients was delicious! From the Maezawa beef at dinner to the sake and local craft beer, everything went down so smoothly. The hattō soup for breakfast and “Ihatov” Onsen rice were beyond our expectations. On top of that, the staff were always smiling and made us feel truly welcome. The self-serve coffee in the lobby was also excellent! The Onsen was at just the right temperature, and through the open window frame we looked up at the Mid-Autumn full moon floating above a courtyard lightly touched with autumn colors—what a luxury. We enjoyed a blissful moment. We talked as a family about wanting to stay again, but since we’ve already visited Chuson-ji twice, we immediately started searching for other places in Iwate we’d like to visit next time—and wondered if we could stay here again since it’s only about an hour away. Thanks to your wonderful hospitality and cuisine, we could perfectly wrap up our 4-night, 5-day Tohoku trip. Thank you very much. Thank you as well, IKYU, for introducing us to such a great Accommodation.

My husband, our daughter, and I stayed as a family of three. Dinner was luxurious and every dish was delicious, and the hospitality from all the staff was wonderful. We could truly feel your warm desire for us to enjoy the meal. Thanks to you, we had a wonderful trip to Iwate. Thank you very much.

This is a stately, traditional Hotel. Even the hallway carpets evoke a sense of its history. The baths were very spacious and relaxing. Since a lift is installed on the stairs leading to the baths, they can be used by guests with limited mobility or elderly guests as well. The open-air bath was also wonderfully open, and we could hear the sound of the river flowing through Genbikei Gorge nearby, which made it especially relaxing. The meals were carefully prepared. Breakfast in particular featured a wide variety of items beautifully arranged, making it both delicious and enjoyable. As we traveled by Shinkansen this time, we really appreciated the Shuttle Service bus to Ichinoseki Station. We also heard that you place special emphasis on Chinese cuisine, so I would like to try it on our next stay.

In contrast to the cramped feel of the city, the building is spacious throughout, and I was able to stretch out and sleep comfortably on futons in a Japanese-style room. The thick beams and pillars that evoke a sense of history gave me the solid presence of a traditional house, and it offered a rich experience quite different from staying at a Hotel. The staff who assisted us were friendly, and we enjoyed lively conversations about local topics that people from other prefectures would never know. Not just at mealtimes—I found myself wanting to talk more and learn even more about Iwate. We stayed with only family members, but it was also nice not having to worry about disturbing others. It seems perfect for an overnight get-together with close friends or even a BBQ with your company team. Recommended for anyone who wants to fully enjoy time in nature!
