It took four hours on Japan’s longest route bus to get here, but it was absolutely worth it. First of all, as rumored, the Totsukawa-no-Yu hot spring (strictly speaking, the water at this inn is from the Totsukawa Onsen area) was wonderful. Both the large public bath and our detached guest room had an indoor bath and an open-air bath, so we enjoyed a total of four tubs with pleasantly hot sulfur spring water. In particular, the view from the open-air bath in the public bath—vivid trees on the mountains right nearby—was incredibly soothing. Both dinner and breakfast featured plenty of locally sourced ingredients, and each dish was beautifully presented. The flavors were slightly mild but delicious, and the portions were more than enough for me. The in-room facilities were easy to use, and everything was spotless—like new. On our way back, we had lunch at an affiliated café about 40 minutes away by bus, then took on Tanize Suspension Bridge nearby. I heard it’s Japan’s longest suspension bridge used for daily life—and it’s also quite high. With spots where the planks seemed to sag and plenty of swaying, it was thrilling. I’d love to visit again.

I was very satisfied. The meals were delicious.
