We stayed here during my 7th month of pregnancy for a maternity trip. It was our first time staying in Gora, and while choosing among the many Accommodations, we decided based on the availability of an in-room open-air bath, Reviews of the food, and the high level of service—and it was absolutely the right choice. Every dish was delicious, and from check-in to check-out we had a truly comfortable experience. It was our last trip as a couple before welcoming our baby, and it became a very memorable journey. My husband also said that although he has stayed at many Accommodations before, this one left a particularly strong impression and he was very satisfied. We would definitely like to stay again.

From the warm welcome on arrival to the heartfelt send-off at departure, it felt like a dream. The service was exceptionally attentive, and the food was truly delicious—we were completely satisfied. The hot spring was wonderful; we enjoyed a relaxing soak at night under the stars and in the morning while basking in the sunrise. We will definitely stay again. Thank you very much.

The hospitality was wonderful. We were on a family trip with my pregnant daughter, and we truly appreciate the room upgrade, the maternity loungewear and pregnancy pillow, and the thoughtful attention during meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation. One thing that disappointed us was that after breakfast and before checkout, many staff members were unable to answer questions about the souvenir shop, which took some time. Thank you very much. We stayed here to coincide with my husband’s refresh leave for his 5-year work anniversary. Because it’s in a quiet location and has only a small number of rooms, it was the perfect place for us as a dual-income couple to escape our busy daily routine and enjoy truly luxurious time together. The in-room bath was very spacious, and we could relax comfortably as a couple. Above all, the hot spring water felt wonderful and left our skin silky smooth. Since it’s a semi-open-air bath, we found it especially comfortable. At many other inns, private open-air baths or in-room open-air baths often have the washing area outside as well, but here you can simply open the window to make it semi-open-air—so we didn’t end up shivering while washing. During our one-night stay, we used the bath five times; even at checkout, we wished we could soak one more time and were sad to leave. The washbasin area was also spacious, so we could both get ready slowly in the morning. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious: sashimi with carefully crafted sauces, many bite-sized seasonal dishes served in a basket arrangement, and seasonal chestnut rice cooked on the spot. Breakfast was also very filling—the grilled fish and tofu were especially good. Yukata were provided as loungewear, but since I tend to get a cold stomach easily, I thought it would be nice if there were pants-style options like samue. Also, since this trip fell during our wedding anniversary month, I felt an anniversary plan would be appreciated. It wouldn’t need to be elaborate—something simple like an celebratory message on a dessert plate or taking a photo and gifting it in a small frame would make for a lovely keepsake. All of the staff were courteous and warm-hearted in their hospitality, which made this trip extremely satisfying.

This was my first stay, and I was able to spend such a fulfilling time that it hardly felt like just one night and two days. Rather than feeling formal or routine, it truly felt like they valued each guest as an individual. The Room had a calm atmosphere, and best of all was the open-air bath attached to it. The luxury of being able to soak in the Onsen slowly whenever I wanted was exceptional—it felt so good that I wanted to go in again and again. Enjoying the open-air bath while taking in the surrounding garden and nature helped me forget everyday fatigue. Each dish was prepared with great care, and I could enjoy not only the flavors but also the presentation and sense of seasonality. The meal itself became one of the highlights of my trip—it was that satisfying. The overall atmosphere of this Ryokan is also wonderful. It is quiet and relaxing, and simply being inside made me feel naturally at ease. Everything is well maintained down to the smallest details, making it a perfect space for enjoying an escape from everyday life. Although it was a short stay of one night and two days, by checkout I felt surprisingly refreshed both physically and mentally—I was able to truly recover from my fatigue. This is a Ryokan where you can honestly think, “I want to stay here again.” If you are looking for Accommodation in Hakone, I highly recommend staying here at least once.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip. From the moment we arrived until the very end, we truly had a wonderful time. The Room was spacious and spotless, with thoughtful attention to every detail. It was so comfortable that we honestly wished we could stay there forever. We were also delighted to receive a Room upgrade this time—thank you so much. Above all, the meals were beyond words—absolutely delicious. Every single dish was outstanding, and the dining experience itself became a special memory. Because it was our anniversary, you even prepared a surprise dessert plate for us. We were deeply touched by your unexpected kindness. All of the staff were warm throughout our stay, full of attentive care and hospitality, and we found ourselves thinking again and again how glad we were to have chosen this place. The Room, the meals, the Onsen, and especially the staff’s thoughtfulness—everything was exceptional. We couldn’t be more satisfied with our stay. We have stayed at many Accommodations over the years, but this is without a doubt the best one we have ever experienced. We are truly glad we chose “Hakone Gen” for such an important anniversary. When we visit Hakone again, we would love to stay here again. Thank you very much for such a wonderful time and unforgettable memories.

This time, we visited Lake Kawaguchi and Hakone for the first time, looking forward to seeing Mt. Fuji as part of my wife’s birthday trip. Although it was too cloudy to see the Mt. Fuji we had hoped for, we stayed at Setsugetsuka Bettei Suiun in Hakone and were able to fully enjoy the area. Our Room was a Standard Fourth, and it was very practical and well maintained with thorough cleaning, so we had a comfortable stay. The Onsen was at just the right temperature for me and left me feeling refreshed from the core, and it was also great to be able to use L’OCCITANE shampoo. For dinner, being able to choose the main dish and rice during the meal felt like a thoughtful service that let us decide based on our appetite. Breakfast offered such an abundant variety that we were so full we couldn’t even eat lunch afterward. The after-bath lounge area, along with complimentary drinks and snacks on each floor, was also a welcome service whenever we felt a little hungry. The staff’s hospitality was polite and easy to understand, which left a strong impression on us as well. After checkout we went to Gora Park, and at that time a parking staff member kindly advised us that taking the mountain railway one stop would allow us to walk downhill from top to bottom more easily—very helpful advice for an older couple like us. We hope to come back soon for our “I want to see Mt. Fuji with my own eyes!” revenge trip, and when we do, we would love to stay with you again.

Thank you again for a wonderful stay. This was our first drive in our new car and also our first stay at Gora Kadan, but we were met with heavy rain. Even so, thanks to the warm welcome from all the staff, your help with loading and unloading our luggage, and your thoughtful care for my mother-in-law, all of our worries disappeared and we were able to enjoy a comfortable stay. We sincerely appreciate your attentive hospitality. We would love to stay again.

The building, Rooms, and all shared areas are stylish and spotless. The services and meals are excellent. There is nothing around the Hotel, so I was able to relax quietly in the in-room Onsen.

Although we stayed for only one night, we were very satisfied. We were able to forget the hustle and bustle of the city, relax, and enjoy being surrounded by nature. The staff were wonderful, and it was an Accommodation we would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

This was my third stay. It was my first time visiting in summer, and the lush greenery outside the window was very soothing. There are many international staff members, but everyone works hard and it never feels out of place. This time, I ordered cake and coffee to go from the café lounge, and I really appreciated how a Japanese staff member carefully packed the cup in the cake box so it wouldn’t tip over—such thoughtful attention to detail. I’ll be back again. Thank you very much.

We chose the Surprise Plan for a celebration, and the communication was very courteous. The Room and open-air bath were spacious, relaxing, and very clean. We were also happy to have plenty of free drinks. We chose the wagyu course, and everything was delicious. The staff were friendly, and we enjoyed chatting with them as well. Being able to adjust the open-air bath ourselves meant we could always soak at just the right temperature, which was a great feature. Breakfast was also excellent. We felt refreshed in both body and mind, the surprise was a success, and we’re truly glad we chose this place. We’d love to stay in one of the other Rooms too!

The room was wonderful and thoughtfully appointed down to the smallest details, and the in-room hot spring bath was outstanding. Being able to relax and enjoy the hot spring at our own pace, along with delicious meals, made for a truly satisfying stay. We stayed with our family and relatives, bringing two children. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a waterfall, and crossing stepping stones on the way inside added an exciting touch. The welcome drink service—complete with a choice of traditional Japanese sweets—was also a lovely gesture. The room felt spacious even with three beds, offering a refined “modern Japanese” atmosphere. The hinoki-scented bath in the guest room was especially appreciated when traveling with children, as we could enjoy the hot spring whenever we liked. Dinner had a clear concept behind each dish and was said to represent the journey from beginning to end through cuisine. Everything was delicious and generously portioned—each course made us look forward to what came next. On top of that, during dinner our table attendant even entertained our child; we were genuinely moved by such thoughtful hospitality. This is an inn where adults can fully enjoy themselves even when traveling with children. Highly recommended for family trips or travel with relatives—we would love to return.

It was a truly wonderful Ryokan with a nostalgic, traditional atmosphere while still feeling very clean. I especially recommend the private open-air bath in the guest room—it was incredibly relaxing. We had both breakfast and dinner, and they were excellent in both taste and portion size. Also, even though it was last-minute, I asked on the day for a surprise plate for my wife, and they kindly arranged it for us. I don’t usually return to the same place when traveling, but this is somewhere I’d like to visit again next year. Highly recommended.

After 20 years, the bath was still great, and although meals were previously served in the Room, the food was excellent. The staff were all very pleasant. The garden remains as beautiful as it was 20 years ago. While I like the nostalgic feel of the building, a bit more renovation might be better.

Feel the closeness of nature and listen carefully: the rustling sound of bamboo leaves swaying in the wind, the chirping of insects and birds, and the moon floating in the vast sky. It was a time when my heart resonated quietly, deeply healing my soul. The open-air bath had water at just the right temperature, while the indoor bath was enveloped in a soothing aroma of cypress. The large sauna and cypress cold bath were also relaxing, and stepping out onto the terrace revealed an extraordinary view reminiscent of Bali or an overseas resort. This liberating accommodation where you can walk around freely feels truly unique. In the spacious living room, we enjoyed conversations at the counter, while in the large bath I shared luxurious moments talking with my daughter. Convenient for sightseeing as well—morning walks through silver grass fields, cycling visits to Hakone Shrine and Kuzuryu Shrine. We rode on Motomiya Ropeway, had a Japanese lunch at Yamano Hotel after checkout, followed by a leisurely time at a café. We fully enjoyed our trip to Hakone to its fullest extent. The accommodation was impeccably clean everywhere we went, making it comfortable throughout our stay. It’s an unforgettable experience that made us say “perfect” countless times from our hearts. We would love to visit again!
