I stayed for three nights and was completely satisfied!! The Hotel was spotless throughout—bright, clean, and beautifully maintained. The front desk staff and housekeeping team were friendly and welcoming, which created a great atmosphere. The amenities were refined, and I was especially happy to have organic coffee. One small note: the complimentary mineral water in the Room refrigerator had to be picked up at the front desk from the second night onward. It would be even better if it could be placed in the Room during cleaning. The Room was bright and clean, with no odors in the bedding. I’m a bit particular about cleanliness, but there was nothing that bothered me here—I felt very comfortable. The bath area and changing room were also very clean, and the open-air bath was wonderful. The ReFa hair dryer and other amenities such as shampoo were great as well. I especially loved the post-bath lounge and terrace. I think this is one of the best Hotels in this price range. I already have a Reservation for next month. This time I had a Room with a view of Mt. Asama, and the sunrise was beautiful. I’d be happy if I could have a mountain-view Room again next month—can I request that? Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Although the price was a bit higher during the Obon season, it was a very clean Hotel. The bath was also great, with an open and relaxing outdoor bath. Breakfast had a wide selection and was very delicious. The cleaning was thorough as well. I would like to stay again.

From the small amenities to the staff who warmly enhance the service throughout the Hotel, everything reflected thoughtful attention and a relaxing sense of hospitality. This Accommodation, standing by Lake Matsubara as a continuation of a previously built Hotel, is one of my favorite places I have ever stayed. Thank you very much.

It’s a wonderful Hotel. The Facility is a bit old, but it is very clean and well maintained. Perhaps because there aren’t many Rooms, we were able to relax without running into many people in either the restaurant or the baths. The staff interacted with us at just the right distance. Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. This time, we asked just one day in advance for special consideration for one person’s meal, and despite our demanding request, they kindly accommodated us with perfect dishes. Thank you very much. Thanks to you, we had a wonderful family trip. We would definitely like to stay again.

Following last year’s lunch visit, we stayed overnight this time. We chose the Plan that includes the Moss Forest guided tour. The moss observation tour offered not only explanations about moss, but also insights into the history of Shirakoma Pond and environmental conservation, which was very informative. The cape gooseberry cheesecake served at tea time after the tour was also delicious. It’s a great-value, enjoyable tour that I highly recommend. Of course, breakfast and dinner during our stay were plentiful as well. Everything was truly delicious. The new building was nothing like the image of an old mountain lodge—it was very comfortable. The bath in particular soothed our hiking fatigue, and we really appreciated it. Next time, we’d like to visit in a different season.

We stayed here for our family trip at the end of summer vacation. It was a special Room—the only one of its kind in the Hotel. It had the space of two Rooms plus a living area, and an exceptionally large bathroom—about the size of another Room—with a spacious bathtub where you can fully stretch out, as well as a separate shower room. The bubble-bath function had been removed, but features such as the marble flooring gave it a very luxurious feel. There were also private stairs, a ramp, and an exclusive corridor leading to this special Room, with outstanding attention to privacy. From the Room, we enjoyed breathtaking views over all of Lake Megami and the surrounding mountains. There were three large TVs, which delighted our children, and we could use the air conditioning as well, so we stayed comfortable throughout our visit. The public bath included an open-air bath and even two saunas, and the lockers were clean. From the open-air bath we could look out over Lake Megami and the mountains while relaxing in the Onsen. We enjoyed cooling off in the cold bath, watching clouds drift by, and taking our time to fully appreciate Tateshina Onsen. As it was peak season, both dinner and breakfast were buffet only; while there weren’t many items overall, each dish was truly delicious. The coffee did not seem to be freshly drip-brewed from a machine like those found at some buffets, so having a coffee machine would be nice. Next time we are very much looking forward to trying kaiseki cuisine at the basement-level restaurant as well. As an IKYU.com Diamond member benefit I requested late check-out; unfortunately it wasn’t possible due to peak season demand. Still, this is such a wonderful Hotel that we wanted to stay even longer—the Room was beautiful, spacious, and impressive in every way. Thank you also for the Diamond member gifts (a bottle of wine and souvenirs from Nagano). Since in Parking Lot No. 1 the wheelchair-priority space is shared with EV charging spaces, I think it would be better to separate them so that enough spaces can be secured to meet nighttime EV charging demand while keeping accessible parking available at all times. We arrived at 11:00 and completed check-in procedures first; the front desk staff were excellent. We requested early check-in but it wasn’t possible due to peak season; however when keys became available before 3:00 p.m., they were handed out in order of completion of procedures—so arriving early was worthwhile for us after all. We will be staying in this same Room again in the future as well; thank you in advance from our whole family for your continued hospitality. Thank you very much to all staff members.”

It’s great that a breakfast buffet is included by default at this price. I’ve stayed at various AZ properties, but this was my first time with bunk beds. Even though I was traveling alone, it was useful as a place to put my luggage.

I had a very comfortable stay. It was great to have so many Onsen. I would love to stay again.

The natural Onsen spring water was available and very relaxing. The washing area also had ReFa showerheads, and the fine bubbles made washing my face feel great. The cake buffet was enjoyable as well, with cakes and Japanese sweets such as arare rice crackers and mitarashi dango, plus many kinds of drinks.

I booked with some worries because the negative Review stuck with me. In conclusion, if you don’t expect too much, you can be satisfied. The sukiyaki catering was generous and very satisfying. Breakfast was served individually rather than buffet-style, so we could eat at a relaxed pace. Drinks, rice, and pork miso soup were self-serve with free refills. Since it was a cool day—almost chilly—our dog stayed in a crate in the car. Honestly, it was a hassle that check-in/out and breakfast were at a Hotel about 5 minutes away by car. You’re given a map for the cottage, but it’s extremely hard to understand. I’d like them to place arrows or signs at key turning points on site to make it clearer. The roads are narrow, and at night you’ll definitely get lost. The short set of steps from where you park to the cottage is tough. With lots of luggage for both people and our dog, you can’t use a cart either. It probably depends on the Room, but there was a full set of kitchen items, which was very convenient. No seasonings are provided. The large refrigerator and having plastic wrap available were small but helpful touches. The tap water is drinkable as-is, but if that bothers you, it’s better to bring your own drinks. The refrigerator is empty. It was inconvenient that there was only one bath towel and one smaller towel (the size you take into an Onsen bath area) per person. I’d be happy if there were two of each. Also, please provide newer towels—the ones for dogs were fluffier, and I honestly couldn’t tell which were meant for people. I was very concerned about dampness in the closet where the bedding is stored and in the connected wardrobe area. It would be better managed with a dehumidifier. The insects I worried about were within an acceptable range; given the surrounding environment it can’t really be helped, so if you can’t handle bugs you should look for another Accommodation. The building itself is honestly old, but the Facility has been updated and everything was kept clean. Because it’s a detached building unit-by-unit style accommodation , it was very quiet and we could relax slowly. There are no loungewear sets and amenities are minimal so it’s different from staying at a Hotel , but checkout is also at 11:00 so we could take our time; we were very satisfied being able to spend time at our family’s pace . It might also be good to choose no meals , shop at supermarkets like Tsuruya or roadside stations , then prepare everything yourself . That way , you can stay with your dog all day too .

I stayed here while accompanying my child on a sports trip to Saku and Ueda. It felt like a long-established Hotel quietly standing in a charming, nostalgic town. The building was clean, and the staff were very helpful. I also appreciated the lemon water service at the front desk. The Room was a standard single type. It was well cleaned and kept tidy. The mountain views from the Room window were very relaxing. There are a few restaurants nearby, but they didn’t seem to be open late—maybe because it was Sunday? It’s about a 10-minute walk to the nearest convenience store. Breakfast was buffet-style with plenty of options, and everything was delicious. I always end up taking too much and regret it halfway through—this time too—but I enjoyed it all without leaving anything. This Hotel offered excellent value for money. I’d love to stay again if I have the chance.

After completing the Reservation, the confirmation email included a message asking us to adjust our appetite to match dinner time. After dinner, we immediately understood why. From appetizers to dessert, everything was carefully prepared using seasonal local vegetables and meat, and every dish was delicious—we wanted seconds. Breakfast was also wonderful and made us feel like it would be a great start to the day. Our stay was on August 5. It was extremely hot during the day at 34°C, but it suddenly cooled down from evening. While we were having dinner from 18:30, a pleasant autumn-like breeze came in from outside. At night, with the windows closed, it was a comfortable 24°C—just right—and after being in air conditioning every day, our bodies felt relieved to be free of it. It was very comfortable overall. On the second floor there is a shared refrigerator and a dispenser with natural water that you can drink freely.

The Room was spacious and clean, and there were various bath options, making for a relaxing stay with pleasantly warm water. It was a Hotel with excellent value for money.

The Room was spacious with high ceilings, and we could see the forest from the window. The windows were large too, giving it an amazing open feel! The welcome daifuku (handmade by your daughter, I heard) was just as delicious as rumored—perfect since I was a little hungry. I was the first to use the bath, and the changing area was very spacious and extremely clean, so I could relax and enjoy it comfortably. Every meal was made with such care and tasted wonderful! I ended up having three glasses of wine. I was traveling solo, but the host and hostess kindly chatted with me, which made dinner truly enjoyable. Even though it was my first visit, they treated me no differently from regular guests, which genuinely made me happy. Unexpectedly, I came down with severe muscle soreness from hiking downhill, and they prepared cold patches, Tiger Balm, and even magnesium for me. Thanks to that, I didn’t need to go to a pharmacy—and by the day I left, going up and down stairs had become much easier. I’m truly grateful for such a warm welcome. I will definitely come again! Next time, I’d love to try your hamburger as well! Lastly, the peach tart served two nights in a row was incredible! You said it was handmade from the crust up—the buttery pastry really stood out, and there were two kinds of cream inside the peaches. It was absolutely delicious. It turned into a truly wonderful stay. I’ll be back again—thank you so much!!

This was our third stay. We visit Tateshina to unwind from the stresses of everyday life, and each time we are most comforted by the meals and the thoughtful hospitality of the couple. I love the stylish atmosphere throughout the pension, and from the moment I make a Reservation until the day we go, I look forward to it with excitement every day. No matter how many times we visit, it’s a place that always makes us want to come back.

It was a new, clean Hotel and consistently comfortable throughout my stay. The bathroom was also thoroughly cleaned, and I never found any dirty areas no matter when I used it. I was disappointed that there was no shower cap among the amenities and that the vending machines didn’t have snacks.

A companion had a trouble with their bike tipping over, but we were helped to lift it up, which was very appreciated. With No Meals Included and a bath available, it's rare to find such an affordable place at this price. If there is another opportunity, I would like to stay here again. Thank you very much.

This time, we stayed in a villa with a sauna. It was a surprise trip for my partner, and he loved it—we’d like to stay again. The view was just as beautiful as in the photos, and the staff were very courteous. The dinner explanation seemed to be given by a new staff member, but they explained everything carefully even though they were nervous. The food was delicious, the Room was spotless, and we could see beautiful mountains and sky from the window. We also really appreciated that the sauna has a window. At night, we even got to experience a campfire—something we don’t usually get to do—making it a truly fulfilling getaway that felt wonderfully out of the ordinary. It was such a lovely Accommodation that I’d like to recommend it to others as well. Thank you very much.

A secluded Accommodation in the forest—quiet, with crisp, clean air. The Room was spacious, and the Japanese-style room with beds was wonderful. The meals were carefully prepared with quality ingredients, and everything we had for both breakfast and dinner was delicious. The accommodation rate was also affordable, and for this price we were able to enjoy a relaxing stay. I’d love to stay again.
