The parking lot is less than a 1-minute walk from the Accommodation, but cars cannot be brought right up to the entrance, so the proprietress came to our car to pick up our luggage. Dinner was the Shige-no-Ie group dining Plan; the hot pot was served with their homemade broth instead of ponzu, and it was very delicious. The soba rice porridge served at breakfast was also very tasty. However, we chose a room with an open-air bath, but perhaps due to its age, one tile had come off and there were quite a few dirty bits of sealant and debris floating in the water, which was disappointing. There were several other spots that felt loose when touched, so I think they should be repaired before more tiles come off. My husband used it and said both the Onsen and the garden were wonderful, but my daughter and I couldn’t use it because it felt unclean, which was unfortunate. All of the staff were easy to talk to and spoke to my daughter every time they saw her; everyone was very friendly and it was great.

This was my first time visiting Togura Kamiyamada Onsen. The proprietress kindly showed me to my room, and I was already in relaxation mode after being served delicious pickles and tea. The hot spring is 100% free-flowing from the source, available 24 hours a day. The water was wonderfully smooth with a gentle sulfur scent, and I enjoyed it many times—after arrival, at night, and again in the morning. And then the meal I had been looking forward to! Every dish was carefully prepared and truly delicious. I also tried the seasonal strawberry liqueur; it wasn’t overly sweet, and the fresh strawberry aroma was delightful. The proprietress served me with a warm smile, and our small conversations were so enjoyable that even though I was traveling solo, I had a wonderful time dining. I also appreciated being able to relax over my meal in the newly renovated private dining room. This was my first visit to Togura Kamiyamada Onsen, and both the baths and the cuisine were outstanding—I’d love to return in another season. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for taking care of us at Kamiyamada Hotel! The bathing facilities were wonderful—starting from the entrance to the large public bath, there was plenty of hinoki cypress, and it paired perfectly with the soothing scent of sulfur. The washing area was neatly divided into sections of just the right size and felt very clean, and we were also satisfied with the free-flowing hot spring water. In the open-air bath, the temperature was just right; it warmed us through to the core and left our skin silky smooth. The water quality was excellent, and with its charming atmosphere, it was a calm and relaxing space. We would love to come back again.

The Room was on the 3rd floor of the annex. I expected a river view, but there was a cedar tree blocking it, which was disappointing. There were no higher floors available at the time of my Reservation. The Room has a shower room, but there were no bath towels. The refrigerator in the alcove is noisy. It might be better placed in the veranda area. I chose to have dinner in the dining venue, and they arranged a private room for us, so we could enjoy our meal in a relaxed setting. There are towels and bath towels available at the large public bath, so it’s nice to be able to go without bringing anything. Next time, I would like to stay on an upper floor of the main building.

The hot spring water quality is excellent.

From check-in to check-out, your attentive and kind hospitality made our trip truly wonderful! We were a bit anxious because we were traveling with our dog, but we had no inconveniences at all and were able to stay comfortably—thank you so much. Thank you as well for kindly accommodating our request to adjust the meals. We would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.

The location is quite difficult to reach by public transportation. We visited by rental car, but the winding mountain roads made me carsick (I’m prone to motion sickness). Even so, it was an Accommodation that I’m glad we chose. Dinner came with many small side dishes—perfect as snacks with drinks. The complimentary tempura was delicious, too. Alcohol was inexpensive; I believe a medium draft beer was around 500 yen. The portions were generous, and it felt very fair to find alcohol priced this reasonably at an Accommodation these days. The Room was spacious and relaxing. The bath has neither a sauna nor an open-air bath, so it’s not really a place you can soak for a long time (you may get bored). The staff were kind and pleasant, and I’d like to visit again if I have the chance.

It’s a quiet, old-fashioned Onsen town, but the Onsen is simply outstanding! The water quality is irresistible for Onsen lovers. The building is clean, and the service is courteous. There’s not much around due to the location, but it’s one of those Hotels you’ll want to visit again.

This was the best Itoen hotel I’ve stayed at so far. The dining area was clean and pleasant. The room was spacious and spotless, with a great river view, and we were able to relax in the open-air bath in the room. I’d like to stay here again.\nThe only downside was that the refrigerator switch was hard to find.

The Ryokan was clean, and above all, the Onsen was amazing! The hot spring water is top-notch!

This price was more than sufficient for two adults. We stayed as a couple in our 50s. The Room was spacious and had air conditioning and a TV, the toilet had a washlet, and the sulfur Onsen was wonderful. We were also able to enjoy an Onsen tour at the sister properties. There is also a retro hot spring town nearby, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The woman at the front desk was also very kind. Thank you!

This trip was with my parents and my son. Since one of my parents has difficulty walking, I chose this Accommodation hoping they could watch the Kamiyamada Fireworks Festival from the Room. We reserved the top-floor Room (5F Executive Floor Suite), convinced we would be able to see the fireworks. When we arrived, the front desk staff guided our car and prepared a wheelchair for my mother. Dinner was included; there was so much that we couldn’t finish it all, but everything was excellent and delicious. The baths were also wonderful, with great-quality water that everyone enjoyed—my son went in four times. As for the fireworks, they were absolutely perfect. We could see the launch site clearly, and it was truly beautiful. The only disappointment was that there were several steps inside the Room. I also thought handrails would have been helpful. Still, with such great food and a perfect fireworks view, I’m glad we stayed in this Room. Thank you to all the staff as well. I’d love to stay again.

Convenience stores and supermarkets are a bit far away. The complimentary drinks included not only coffee but also non-alcoholic options and sake, which was great. The staff were also responsive and pleasant.

On our way there, we got lost and contacted the property in a panic because we were running late for check-in, but they kindly adjusted our dinner time. Thanks to that, we were able to continue with peace of mind. Along the way, lots of deer greeted us here and there—our first moment of relaxation. After arriving, we were smoothly shown to our Room. Since it’s in the mountains, we were worried about insects, but nothing bothered us; the Room was very clean and comfortable. All amenities are picked up individually from a designated corner. We recommend leaving your luggage in your Room first and then going to get them. The bath temperature was by far the best of any Accommodation we’ve stayed at, and we could soak slowly and truly relax. It seems they operate with a small staff, but everything—from meal timing to guidance—was stress-free, and they provided a genuinely soothing space. Both dinner and breakfast had just the right amount and variety, and even the fish was boneless, so those who don’t like fish can eat it without worry. The weather was bad on the day we visited so we couldn’t see it, but they told us that the starry sky viewed from their large parking lot is wonderful. The staff were polite and left a great impression—this was an excellent Accommodation where you can truly unwind.

This was my second visit to Kamiyamada Onsen, and this time I was able to relax while reminiscing about my previous stay around 10 years ago. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and thanks to the rotation of the large public baths, we were able to fully enjoy both. The sulfur Onsen felt light and gentle on the skin. The meals were delicious with seasonal ingredients, and the tableware was lovely as well. It is a traditional, charming place that makes me want to visit again.

This trip had us constantly checking the weather, but we came with our kids, believing there might still be a chance to stargaze at the observatory. It was cloudy and forecast to clear after midnight, so we arrived early with mixed feelings. Before check-in, we were allowed to play mallet golf for free, and the kids ended up running around nonstop on the playground athletics course in the park. After check-in, we relaxed in the large public bath. It was very clean—it's not an Onsen, but it was great. Dinner was at the restaurant from around 19:00. The food was delicious and very generous; our kids couldn’t finish it, which we felt bad about. We really appreciated that the portions were adjusted for younger and older elementary school children. Then came what we’d been waiting for: stargazing! Unfortunately, because of the clouds, it switched to the planetarium instead. But thanks to those clouds, some guests apparently canceled—and unbelievably, everything ended up being completely private just for us! The director’s friendly talk and quizzes had our kids excited from start to finish. He also projected images of what you can see on a clear night, and it turned into an incredibly satisfying 45-minute journey through space! On our way out, each of us got to choose one favorite photo from the director’s collection taken at the observatory. When we stepped outside afterward, we could faintly see the moon and one or two stars starting to appear. Lights-out was at 21:30. We woke up at 2:00 hoping for a miracle—real stars—and somehow even the kids managed to get up too. Looking out through the large south-facing window, my child shouted “The Milky Way!!” I thought it might be a mistake—but it really was the Milky Way!! In the planetarium earlier, we’d heard that Scorpius is a “miracle constellation,” visible in that alignment only from Earth—and that seeing even its tail requires conditions that are rare even here at Ogawa Observatory… yet there it was as well!! We were so moved and happy that I fell asleep peacefully afterward! Breakfast was also excellent—again our kids couldn’t finish everything (sorry!). All of your staff were friendly and welcoming too; it was a truly satisfying trip! I actually stopped by about 20 years ago while visiting filming locations from *Hakusen Nagashi*, but I only briefly passed through back then—so this time left me deeply impressed.

With no plans for the Obon holidays, I was browsing various Ryokan websites just to get into the travel mood when... By chance, I found Sagirisou’s last-minute deal, and it was such a bargain that I booked immediately. Since it was so affordable, I didn’t expect much, but... The Room was more than satisfactory! (The futons were already laid out.) The bath temperature was just right! (The morning bath was amazing too.) Dinner was pork shabu-shabu! (I was so full that I even canceled the soba—there was more than enough food.) Breakfast was buffet-style, and everything I tried was delicious. Above all, the staff at the Ryokan were wonderful with their warm smiles! The service deserves more than 5 stars lol. Next time, I definitely want to enjoy the jingisukan. Our whole family was satisfied and we really enjoyed sightseeing in Nagano. Thank you very much.

At night, we could see a beautiful moon and stars from the open-air bath, and in the morning we enjoyed views of the Northern Alps mountain range—overall, we were able to fully enjoy the Onsen. With plenty of greenery around, it’s a place I’d like to visit during a long holiday. As for the Facility and breakfast, they felt average—neither particularly good nor bad.

It was a truly wonderful Hotel. We are deeply grateful for the thoughtful care shown by the staff. Thank you for accommodating our difficult Shuttle Service request, for allowing us to enter the room even though we arrived early, and for serving both dinner and breakfast in a private room, which allowed us to enjoy a calm meal. As it was an inexpensive Plan, we feel very appreciative. We would love to visit again.

This Accommodation is attached to a roadside station. There are Rooms in the main building, and there are also trailer houses behind it; one of the four units allows guests with dogs. It seems you can enjoy BBQ except during the winter season. The reception staff’s kindness and smiles were especially memorable. There were no dog amenities in the Room. Since it is a dog-friendly Accommodation, I didn’t expect too much, but it was kept very clean—by far the cleanest dog-friendly place I’ve stayed at so far. The Room even had an open-air bath and underfloor heating, so we were very comfortable. We could also use the on-site bathing Facility for free. The bath with Hokutolite warmed me through to the core, and it was well cleaned too. There were quite a few day-use visitors as well, which shows how popular it is. We didn’t eat here this time, but dinner seems to be available at the dining hall from 5:00 PM. I’d like to try it next time. Done! Thank you very much.
