I was impressed by the hospitality, the in-house services, the meals, and the breathtaking scenery that looked like a painting wherever I looked. I’m truly glad I chose this Hotel for my first stay in Hakuba. Next time, I’d love to visit this Hotel again during the autumn foliage season.

We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay in August, and everything was outstanding! First, the food: starting with peach soup with lobster on the first day, followed by artistically beautiful and delicate dishes. On the second day as well, from the prosciutto and Shine Muscat appetizer to char, wood-fired lamb… everything was perfect through dessert—we truly enjoyed every bite. The garden is spacious and beautifully maintained, with wonderful views. The open-air rock bath was amazing. The Room was also spacious and spotless, allowing us to relax at our own pace—it was pure bliss. The staff’s greetings were warm and pleasant, and this is an Accommodation we definitely want to return to. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

We stayed at this Hotel because it is close to the gondola for trekking at Hakuba Happo-One. The interior was simply charming, and we relaxed on the lobby sofas in the evening—the high ceilings made it feel like an overseas Hotel. Many of the staff were from abroad, but everyone was friendly and provided excellent service, making our stay very pleasant. We visited in summer this time, and would love to come back in winter as well.

We stayed for one night after trekking to Happo Pond via the Happo Gondola. I had stayed here once about 20 years ago, and I still remembered how pleasant the bath was and how clean the Room felt. This time, I had the same impression. The building has aged, but the Rooms are still clean and the bath is just as relaxing as ever. Dinner may have improved now that all-you-can-drink alcohol is included. As for dinner, there were quite a few items that seemed like frozen foods (such as pasta and fried chicken), but for our eldest daughter—who is a picky eater—the flavors were reliably familiar, and she was happy that she could eat everything (lol). After trekking, being able to take a bath, have a meal, sleep in an air-conditioned Room on freshly washed sheets—and at this price—was extremely satisfying. It may not be ideal for those looking for a stylish highland resort experience.

It’s been eight years since our last stay, and this was our first visit back in a while. We returned because it’s one of our favorites, but here are a few things we noticed for next time: - We would like one more face towel at the washbasin in the Room, since two of us are staying. - Toiletries such as lotion are provided, but my wife said she would like emulsion/moisturizer as well. - A few dishes tasted quite salty to us—such as the breakfast soup, grilled salmon, and pickles. We had heard that Nagano Prefecture has been reducing salt recently. Despite these comments, this remains our favorite Accommodation thanks to the excellent hospitality of the staff. Thank you for taking care of us. We will visit again.

The Room had a simple yet comfortable atmosphere. All the staff were friendly. However, the sink was a bit too high for washing your face. Breakfast was so delicious it felt like something you’d get at a café.

Rather than spending the trip staying inside a Hotel or Ryokan, I was able to fulfill every wish: enjoying delicious food in the great outdoors, taking in the mountains and starry skies, soaking in the Onsen, and truly refreshing both body and mind. The entire Facility was impeccably clean and comfortable, and above all, I was delighted by the staff’s warm hospitality. Many of them are young, but it was clear through every interaction how well trained and knowledgeable they are. Their thoughtful attention to detail made the stay enjoyable from start to finish—I’m so glad we came. With the wine pairing at dinner, we were able to enjoy a variety of wines, and the kinki (rockfish) acqua pazza was especially outstanding. The Shuttle Service from Nagano Station also made getting there worry-free, resulting in two very satisfying days. Thank you very much. I feel the Accommodation rate is well worth it. Next time, I’d love to visit with my son as well.

Hakuba Happo Onsen is located at the western edge of the Fossa Magna, and its rare mineral composition—due to exposed serpentinite—is said to be unusual in Japan. As it was the off-season (summer), I was able to relax and enjoy the large public bath on my own. Dinner was authentic French cuisine, and breakfast featured galettes. The one-night Plan with dinner and breakfast for one person, priced just under 20,000 yen, felt both luxurious and great value. In winter, many international skiers visit, so Hakuba may have plenty of Hotels and lodges where you can enjoy excellent meals. The Accommodation owner kindly came to pick me up at Hakuba Station even for a single guest. While being served by a wonderful madam during dinner, I enjoyed Nagano-produced wine. The Hotel itself is quite old, but even taking that into account, it was a very good-value stay. It was also conveniently located—about 1–2 hours by bus or train—to Nagano, Matsumoto, and Itoigawa Station on the Sea of Japan side along the Itoigawa–Shizuoka Tectonic Line. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

We stayed with our dog. The Accommodation was very clean and spacious, and we were able to relax comfortably with our family. The only thing we noticed was that there was no partition wall for the shower, so water splashed out when using it, but everyone in our group, including our family members, was very satisfied. We would like to stay again. *Regarding hospitality and service, everything—including check-in and check-out—was handled remotely, so we had almost no direct interaction with staff.

This is a family-run guesthouse operated by a couple. On the day of my stay, it was almost just me, so I was able to spend a quiet, relaxing time after coming down from the mountain. If I had to ask for one thing, having a bath towel would have been helpful... Overall, I was very satisfied with the service. I’d love to stay here again when I visit Hakuba for hiking. When I asked about the return bus schedule, they kindly provided Shuttle Service to the station, which was a huge help in the rain. It’s an Accommodation where their warm hospitality really shows, and I would recommend it.

Excellent access and a relaxed, hassle-free stay.

It was a quiet and relaxing accommodation. The lobby and terrace were also beautiful. In most hotels, the air conditioning doesn't work well, making it too cold or too hot at night, which often disrupts sleep, but this place was very comfortable.

This is our fourth summer stay, and Hakuba Mountainside never disappoints no matter how many times we visit. The Facility is always kept clean and comfortable, and the front desk and housekeeping staff are polite and friendly, making every stay truly pleasant. The kitchen is also very well equipped, with plenty of cookware for anyone who wants to enjoy serious home cooking. Our summer holiday starts with waking up to birdsong in the morning. We then enjoy a walk, followed by a leisurely lunch with fresh local vegetables and naturally leavened bread. In the afternoon we take a nap, and in the evening we head to Happo-no-Yu, famous for its highly alkaline waters. Soaking slowly while taking in the view from the open-air bath is pure bliss. At night we go to bed early with a book—this luxurious, peaceful day is something we repeat every year. And by the end of our trip—perhaps thanks to Happo-no-Yu—our skin feels wonderfully smooth and makeup goes on surprisingly well, which has become one of our annual pleasures too.

We stayed for two nights in mid-October with three generations of our family and our beloved dog, and we had a very comfortable stay in the spacious room. The cleanliness was exceptional, making it hard to believe it was a pet-friendly accommodation. The large living room and kitchen allowed us to enjoy cooking together as a family. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of cookware and tableware, so we had everything we needed. (We bought ingredients for dinner at a nearby supermarket.) The separate toilet and bathroom made it convenient for everyone to use without any hassle. It was also helpful that basic dog supplies like a cage and pet sheets were provided. Although pets were not allowed in the bedrooms, our dog relaxed comfortably in the living area. The location right in front of the slopes (Happo-One Ski Resort) was perfect for walking our dog, especially during early morning strolls which were incredibly refreshing. It was also easy to drive to Kurobishi-daira, where we enjoyed stunning autumn foliage—this year seemed to be an excellent year for fall colors! We would love to visit again during summer when the greenery is lush. Traveling with three generations of family members—and especially with a pet—can make choosing accommodations challenging, but this place exceeded all expectations. It's highly recommended for families traveling with small children (grandchildren), as you can relax comfortably in your room while enjoying quality time together!

As mentioned in other reviews, check-in took some time, but it was fine once we got used to it. The room was spacious and clean, with a bathroom area larger than at home. Towels were replaced without us noticing, which was great. The location is convenient with a supermarket, park, and gondola nearby. It’s very suitable for families with small children. However, it was disappointing that we couldn’t figure out how to turn on the lights in the shared space at night and had to move around in the dark. Clear instructions on how to operate the shared space lighting would be helpful.

The Room was very clean, and the staff at the reception provided excellent service. However, my wife was disappointed as the body soap had solidified into a gel. Since women tend to be particularly meticulous about amenities like body soap, showers, and bathrooms, I believe stricter cleaning checks would be beneficial. The partnered yakitori restaurant was also very delicious and highly satisfying. We look forward to staying again!

I love the scent of wood when you first enter. The Room felt very clean, the towels were fluffy, and I had a comfortable stay. The weather was great, and the forest view from the large window directly in front of the bed, along with the morning sunlight streaming in, felt wonderful.

The tableware and essential kitchen items were well stocked, and the place had been thoughtfully aired out before our arrival, so overall it was a great stay. The kids were thrilled with the loft bunk bed, and we were able to enjoy a fun vacation-home experience.

Located in the upper area of Wada-no, it was very quiet and pleasant. The exterior and interior were stylish as well. However, the built-in washing machine and kitchen appliances like the microwave were foreign-made; while they looked elegant, their usability was a bit confusing. Additionally, during summer nights, countless insects were attracted to the lights and stuck to the windows. Other than that, it was a chalet I would love to visit again.

Mid-October 2024 2 nights and 3 days for a couple The building was a renovated traditional house. There were luxurious rooms, and although there were parts we didn't actually use, it was spacious enough to be comfortable. The air conditioning, ventilation, and floor heating were all fully equipped, making it comfortable. The onsen bathroom was very tastefully designed, with windows that could be fully opened, creating a semi-open-air feel, which was pleasant given the season. A rental villa with an onsen in Hakuba is quite rare, isn't it? The amenities, including bathrobes and towels, were well-prepared, and we were very satisfied. There was also a washer-dryer, which I think is great for long stays. There seemed to be a drying room for ski and snowboard gear, making it perfect for skiing at Happo-One. The only downside was the lack of a view, so it would be even better if there were a wooden deck or something to allow access to a shaded terrace during the good seasons, with some maintenance of trees and plants. One major disappointment was that during our stay, before checkout, several men entered the facility using an electronic key. They were not acquaintances, of course. This is something that would never happen at a hotel. Our vehicle was parked in the facility's designated parking lot on the premises, and it seemed they parked right next to it (a domestic SUV with Nagano plates), so it should have been clear that there were guests in the building. The person who unlocked the door seemed to be a real estate-related agent, as they started showing the building while talking. We were preparing to check out, so we were presentable, but we were very surprised when strangers suddenly entered our private area. In a hurry, I explained that we were still staying and about to proceed with the electronic checkout, and asked them to leave. However, in this dangerous world, I became very anxious about how the facility manager was handling the electronic key management. During our stay, we went out several times, so if anything happened, like theft of personal belongings or facility equipment, or damage, it would be a problem. After adhering to the checkout time and completing the electronic checkout, just as we were leaving the parking lot, a maintenance person arrived in a small truck. They might have been the cleaning staff. I still don't know who the person who entered during the time was, and honestly, it's unsettling. We really liked the facility, but it left us with security concerns.
