We stayed for one night and two days with our grandchild. As mentioned in Reviews, the building and the Room itself are indeed old, but everything was properly cleaned, so there were no issues. With the all-you-can-play passport, we fully enjoyed bowling, the pool, craft-making, festival-style games, quizzes, a stamp rally, and more. The free shuttle bus from the Hotel to Yubatake at night was extremely helpful; it was my first time seeing the Yubatake illuminations, and I was surprised by how many tourists there were. Even though it was summer, walking around Yubatake felt pleasantly cool—almost a little chilly—which was wonderful. The next day we used the Hotel bus again because I wanted to treat them to street food and a yumomi experience. I had only ever visited Kusatsu in winter before, so this was my first summer visit. While news reported extreme heat in Tokyo, I was amazed at how cool and comfortable Kusatsu is in summer. At night we didn’t need air conditioning in our Room—if anything, it felt slightly chilly. Summer in Kusatsu is great. The meals were delicious, and everyone at the front desk and each reception counter as well as the shop—especially the international staff—were very polite and pleasant; every staff member provided excellent service and I was truly impressed. This Hotel is highly recommended for families with children as well. We would like to visit again. One drawback is that the Hotel is so large that it’s easy to get lost—especially when trying to find the baths; as noted in Reviews, we did get lost after all. Still overall it was a wonderful Hotel. I was finally able to visit “Ura-Kusatsu Tou,” a place I’d been curious about for a long time. Located in the Ura-Kusatsu area, just a short distance from the bustle of Yubatake, the moment you step inside you’ll find a beautifully curated space where traditional craftsmanship and modern design come together. Every corner of the Accommodation is picture-perfect. From interiors accented with traditional crafts to warm, inviting lighting, you can feel the attention to detail throughout. It was an Accommodation with a calm atmosphere—perfect for an adults-only getaway. Relax from the core with “Jizo Gensen” The greatest highlight here is, of course, the Onsen fed by “Jizo Gensen.” Among Kusatsu’s many hot spring sources, “Jizo-no-Yu” is said to be rare due to its low output. Its gentle feel on the skin and subtle milky hue were wonderfully soothing, and I could truly relax from deep within. Not only in the large public bath but throughout the building, there are thoughtful touches that create a sense of gentle “sway,” making it feel as if everyday fatigue simply melts away. Dinner and breakfast were served in a serene dining space. Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious enough to make you happy with each bite. Breakfast also felt luxurious: colorful small plates lined up alongside freshly cooked rice. An Accommodation where you can fully enjoy both the Onsen and the cuisine—I left completely satisfied in both heart and stomach. The Room was spotless and comfortable—functional yet designed with a calming Japanese aesthetic. The staff maintained just the right level of attentiveness; thanks to their courteous service, my stay was pleasant from start to finish. It had been some time since my last visit to Kusatsu Onsen, but this trip helped me rediscover its charm all over again. This wonderful Accommodation lets you experience both the excellence of Jizo Gensen and modern comfort at once—somewhere I would love to return again.

Among the many Accommodations, we chose Taira no Ie because of the breakfast and a Room with a view of Yubatake. It wasn’t a typical breakfast—suiton, chimaki, and dessert waffles were available for seconds, and we were completely full. Everything was delicious. The Room was spacious and clean even for four adults, and it was great to have two sinks. The staff were young foreigners, but their service was excellent; they spoke Japanese earnestly and it was charming. The Onsen water was very hot, but it left our skin feeling smooth. It was right in front of Yubatake, so it was convenient for walking around, but getting up to the Accommodation by car was difficult because of the steep slope and crowds. Still, we’re glad we chose Taira no Ie. We fully enjoyed Kusatsu Onsen. Thank you very much.

It was worth extending our trip from Karuizawa to Kusatsu Onsen just to visit Kimuraya. We truly enjoyed a relaxing time, and the Shirahata no Yu with its free-flowing Onsen water was so smooth it felt like it embraced the body. Even my husband, who isn’t particularly fond of hot springs, seemed to appreciate its charm and went in multiple times. The staff members were all wonderful as well.

Recommended for guests who want to fully enjoy skiing. The paid First Track option before regular operating hours is well worth it. You can also take a bath after check-out, and there are four washing machines available free of charge, which is very helpful for longer stays. The Room is small, but if you think of it as a ski training camp, it’s comfortable.

Conveniently located near Yubatake. The hot spring water was excellent, and I fully enjoyed Kusatsu. Thank you!

The only downside was that it’s a bit far from Yubatake, but otherwise our stay was truly comfortable and satisfying. In any case, the interior is spacious, clean, and stylish. There are two types of baths plus a sauna, and there’s even a projector in the living room—our kids had a great time. It’s a Room that made us think, “We want to live in a place like this!” We’d love to stay again someday!
