The entire property was spotlessly clean, which made our stay very comfortable. All the staff were polite and pleasant. Both the first-floor lounge and the third-floor common room had a relaxing atmosphere, so we could unwind not only in our Room but also in other areas. The tasteful floral arrangements that weren’t too showy were also a lovely touch.

It was my first visit in a while, and once again the Onsen was wonderful—I thoroughly enjoyed soaking in two different natural hot spring sources. The meals were delicious and very satisfying. The guests were considerate, and it was very quiet, so I could truly relax. The staff were kind as well, and I recommend this place to anyone who likes a small, cozy property. Thank you for taking such good care of me. I will visit again.

We stayed here a few years ago and loved it, so we returned for a group trip to celebrate our 60th birthdays. With a Room overlooking the Yubatake, high-quality Onsen baths, and delicious meals, our friends were very satisfied and it became a wonderful trip. The large public bath was outstanding as expected, but we were also impressed by how well stocked the amenities corner in the changing area was. They even had face sheet masks. We wanted to take our time with dinner this time, so we chose the dining venue “Kimi no Roman.” The food was delicious, and we also enjoyed learning about the ingredients thanks to the staff’s thoughtful explanations. Breakfast was buffet-style. There were many creative dishes featuring local ingredients, and everything was excellent. We felt that even if we had chosen the dinner buffet, we would have been satisfied. Since we needed to go to an annex building for the large public bath and breakfast, we walked back and forth along the connecting corridor. The furnishings and Facilities were polished to a shine, with beautiful ikebana displays throughout. There were also impressive arrangements in the large public bath area itself, giving a sense of refinement that only a long-established Accommodation can offer. All staff members were kind; when we asked for photos, they even took them from atop a step ladder so they could include the Yubatake in the shot. This is an excellent Accommodation with attentive hospitality in every detail—both in its services and its upkeep. The souvenir shop on the first floor is large with an extensive selection, so you can find everything there. They also have a corner featuring Asama Shuzo (my favorite), where I was able to buy various items. Guests who spend 2,500 yen or more receive delicious cookies.

Only 10 Rooms on a spacious property. The grove garden right in front of you is a private view (guests cannot enter), giving you the true feel of a vacation home. We were completely satisfied with everything—the Room, the semi-open-air bath in the Room, the open-air bath at the large public bath, and dinner featuring an array of premium ingredients considered luxurious in Japanese cuisine, as well as breakfast with just the right portion size. If we had to make one small request, it would be that the bath towels were a bit thicker.

We stayed here for a family trip during the Obon holidays. They kindly provided taxi pick-up and drop-off to Nagano Station, which was very helpful. The staff were attentive, and the facility was clean and pleasant, making our stay truly relaxing. The meals were also excellent. We would love to visit again in a different season. First of all, we truly felt the hospitality of the proprietress and the staff. We were convinced they genuinely think, “Thank you for coming,” from the bottom of their hearts. The Onsen is, of course, outstanding. Gazing at the rocky surface overflowing with natural hot spring water, you can feel an immense sense of history. The meals were also absolutely wonderful. We were completely satisfied with both the taste and the portions. Just when we thought it would be a classic kaiseki course, there were creative twists that made it even more enjoyable. The tableware was also exceptionally refined and inspiring. It’s true that features such as the age of the building and facilities, and having only stairs with no elevator, may come down to personal preference depending on your generation, but for us as a couple they were not drawbacks at all. If you’re visiting Kusatsu Onsen, we think this is an Accommodation you should stop by at least once.

The breakfast was surprisingly luxurious. I would like to stay here again.

The food is delicious. There is crab, but that’s not all. The roast beef, cheese pasta, and special mapo tofu are freshly made and tasty. The other dishes are also very satisfying. Breakfast is well prepared and satisfying too. If you stay here, we recommend booking a plan with both dinner and breakfast included. The Onsen has pleasantly cloudy water.

Beautiful scenery, a resort-like atmosphere throughout the property, and carefully prepared seasonal dishes. The service was attentive, courteous, and truly pleasant. The cool natural air made strolling around enjoyable, and I’m genuinely glad I visited. Breakfast was also brought to our table, allowing us to relax and enjoy the meal at ease. The Shuttle Service from Yudanaka Station was much appreciated, and taking a short break in the lounge was a wonderful time. Although we traveled during the heat, I felt refreshed and ready to get through the summer with renewed energy. I will be turning 77 this year. I hope to continue enjoying wonderful trips—dressing up and savoring stays at Resort Hotels and Ryokans as well.

My husband and I stayed one night in the Nadeshiko Room. The Accommodation is quite far from the familiar sights of residential areas and shops, but it’s in a wonderful location surrounded by the greenery of Takayama Village. After seeing Raiden Falls, we were truly moved by the nature there. The Accommodation isn’t large and has a historic feel, but the interior has been nicely renovated. After check-in, simply relaxing in the lobby with a bowl of matcha while looking out at the trees right in front of us was incredibly soothing. The Nadeshiko Room we stayed in was especially spacious and barrier-free, so we could unwind comfortably. This time it was just the two of us and we’re still doing fine physically, but with this layout, we felt we could come back even when we’re older—and also imagined how nice it would be to visit with our son and his wife. Above all, the Onsen was absolutely amazing! We’ve stayed at many Onsen Accommodations, but here we could soak in a free-flowing hot spring bath with yunohana floating on the surface while enjoying seasonal views through the window. With its size and cleanliness, this Onsen is hands down our best experience ever. We were informed in advance, but the water temperature is quite hot, so if you prefer a milder bath you may need to adjust it. The meals were simple yet delicious dishes that made great use of ingredients unique to a mountain Ryokan—everything felt wholesome and nourishing. The river fish had no odor and tasted great; however, since there are only a few Rooms, I would have loved it served more freshly grilled. It was slightly firm, so my husband wondered if it might have been smoked. Overall, it was an ideal Accommodation for escaping everyday noise and spending time at ease. Choosing this place from all the options we researched before our trip was absolutely the right decision. Thank you very much.

I stayed at this Accommodation during the summer season.\nThe entire building had undergone major renovations, and it was very clean, making for a comfortable stay.\nThe food was delicious, and the chef-made omelets at the breakfast buffet were outstanding.\nIn addition to the large public bath, there was also a private family bath, and I could use the free massage chairs. After bathing, it was wonderful to cool off in the evening on the balcony on the third floor while enjoying a beer.\nIn winter, staying in the Ichinose area offers better access to the ski resort, so I would love to stay here again if I have another chance during summer.

We always stay here when visiting Shiga Kogen for ski trips. This is our third season. Such a great price for accommodation so close to one of Japan's top ski resorts! Includes breakfast and dinner, has an onsen, spacious rooms—completely satisfied. The onsen has been renovated and is clean, with excellent maintenance. The meals offer a surprising variety for being in the mountains. This time we had set meals, but the warm dishes and refillable rice left us full and happy. Both the front desk staff and dining area staff were kind, making our stay very pleasant. There may be some negative comments from others, but with this level of service at this price point, isn't it asking too much? Considering rising costs of goods, fuel prices, and labor expenses—it must be challenging to maintain such a warm facility in the freezing mountains. We truly appreciate being able to stay at such an affordable rate. This is an excellent accommodation!

Ideally located for skiing, with very convenient access to the bus stop and ski lifts. The Facility is old, but the service is good and it has the nostalgic charm of a traditional Ryokan. Meals are served individually (not buffet-style) using local ingredients, which felt like excellent value for money and very satisfying for middle-aged and older guests like myself. I’d like to make it my regular Accommodation for skiing.

It’s still disappointing that the Room toilet does not have a bidet, but using the shared toilets is not an issue. Last year, one of the two shared toilets had a squat-style toilet (unacceptable), but this year both have bidet seats, which is a major improvement. They look like the same new model, so they may have been replaced at the same time. Breakfast and dinner are buffet-style, and it was excellent that there was no overlap in side-dish selections between Day 1 and Day 2. It’s subtle, but you can see the effort. Also, as a small detail, it’s reassuring that drinks in the vending machines are sold at normal prices rather than marked up for a tourist area.

The dinner course is exceptional and worth the trip on its own. A perfect balance of authentic Japanese cuisine and French dishes alternates beautifully, creating an outstanding dining experience. Additionally, the female staff are incredibly hardworking, the Onsen is excellent, and being located over 1500m above sea level makes it a perfect summer retreat. Despite the Facility being older, it is clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable. The Onsen was truly amazing as well. Shiga Kogen offers plenty of summer activities, and consulting with the Hotel staff provides a wide range of options to enjoy. It was a fantastic experience overall.
