This was our first stay with my husband, a friend, and two dogs. The Room was spacious, and although it rained both nights, we were able to relax and take it easy. The dog run was covered with wood chips, so our dogs’ paws didn’t get muddy. Having a free-flowing hot spring bath in each villa was very appealing, and my Onsen-loving husband took many baths and was very satisfied. This time we chose the No Meals Included plan, but we bought cheese and bread from the shops introduced in the in-room guide for this Accommodation, and everything was delicious. We’ve been talking about staying for three nights next time. We’re looking forward to staying again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

This was our first stay as a couple with our dog. From the moment we arrived, the owner and all the staff welcomed us with thoughtful care and warm smiles, and any tension quickly melted away, leaving us feeling at ease and at home. We were soothed by the free-flowing natural hot spring Onsen in our room, and enjoyed the calm retro-modern atmosphere throughout the property that felt like stepping into an anime or fairy-tale world. While savoring outstanding, healthy, locally sourced cuisine, we could almost feel impurities gently leaving our bodies and energy returning. We were able to truly relax both body and mind. We will definitely be back.

We stayed here on a family trip with my parents. The Room was spacious and airy, and the greenery visible from the window was truly beautiful—so we were able to relax from the moment we arrived. This time we stayed in two Rooms, “Sono Ichi” and “Sono Yon,” and both had large baths and were wonderful spaces where we could unwind completely. The staff’s thoughtfulness also left a strong impression. They responded attentively whenever needed, while maintaining a comfortable sense of distance that never felt intrusive. They warmly celebrated my mother’s birthday, which made my parents very happy. They even sent a forgotten item to our home, and we remained grateful until the very end of our stay. The meals were unforgettable as well. The cutlet was light yet full of rich lean-meat flavor, and absolutely delicious. And the ayu sweetfish was so good that everyone in our family agreed it was the best ayu we had ever had. From the Room and bath to the food and hospitality, everything was flawless. Thank you for making our precious family trip even more special.

We stayed in one of the few Rooms with a private open-air Onsen bath. The interior was very stylish and lovely! Because it’s not a large Facility, we rarely ran into other guests. The staff were also very friendly and made us feel at home. The meals were more than satisfying for us as a couple, and hot dishes were served at just the right time so they wouldn’t cool down. We’ve visited many Onsens, but the milky Onsen here felt so wonderful that we’d love to soak in it again. We were truly impressed to have found such an excellent Accommodation where we could fully enjoy the Onsen!

I stayed with my mother in her 80s. A Resort Hotel in the forest—we were able to relax quietly and take our time. The lobby, arranged with stone and wood, had a dignified, substantial atmosphere. The Room had plenty of indirect lighting, which felt very calming. However, if you want to read, it would be better to have a reading light. It was also nice to have a bath in the Room. The sulfur hot spring left my skin feeling smooth. At bedtime, the sound of running water was slightly noticeable. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented, and everything was delicious. It was also great that drinks were complimentary in the lounge. There is a large window in front of the counter, so you can feel close to the trees and nature outside. The staff were kind and very pleasant as well. I’d like to stay again.

I stayed for two nights after a long time. On the second night, I had the “Shinpu” course dinner at the restaurant. The food and service were excellent when I visited before, and that memory stayed with me—this time was just as satisfying. The dishes were truly delicious and outstanding, and the service was also impressive with wonderful hospitality. Maintaining such high quality in both cuisine and service must take great effort, but thanks to you, I was able to make another great new memory. Thank you to the chef and all the staff. Thank you as well to everyone outside the restaurant. I would love to stay again.

Once again, we had the pleasure of staying in a Room with an open-air bath. The Room has beds, and at the back there is a spacious armchair where you can sit comfortably while looking out at the garden. I was able to relax there—enjoying tea and reading at leisure. With the beds, it’s easy to lie down and rest right away, which brings a real sense of comfort. Last time we stayed over New Year’s with family, but this time it was wonderful to enjoy the garden as it shifted from summer into autumn while soaking in the open-air bath in the Room. Sanraku is also well known for its baths; in particular, the open-air baths are highly recommended—you can feel the natural breeze even in your heart as you bathe amid mountain scenery. As for the cuisine, there has been a new head chef, and it felt like a fresh new breeze had come to the menu. While Sanraku’s original attentive seasonal Japanese cuisine remains, I could sense new initiatives as well. The dishes were served freshly prepared, and I felt they put great thought into ensuring guests never grow tired of what is offered. Our attendant provided detailed explanations of each dish and showed wonderful hospitality. An attendant who had looked after us previously also took a moment to speak with us. The front desk and welcoming staff remembered our previous stay as well, making this an Onsen Ryokan where you can truly relax and feel at ease. I sincerely hope that such hospitable Japanese Ryokan will continue their history for many years to come. For IKYU Diamond members, there was a gift of half a bottle of wine along with shopping vouchers—great-value tickets that could be used both for drinks with meals and for souvenirs. This is a Ryokan I would love to visit again.

The bath was excellent. The staff were very courteous, and I would like to stay again. If I had to mention one drawback, there are many stairs, so I would appreciate a ramp.

We were surprised to be served a welcome drink at check-in and to complete the procedures on the sofa, but both the Room and the food were incredibly stylish and amazing. There was no TV, which really made it feel like an escape from everyday life, and we thought that was part of what made it such a special space. From the moment we walked in, I feel like we said “Wow” about 20 times. We’d definitely love to come back again.

Because the property is operated by a small team, there were a few minor things I noticed, but the meals were delicious and served in just the right portions, and I was able to enjoy the bath to my satisfaction with a Reservation. I’d love to come back in autumn to see the fall foliage.

First time visiting. All the staff were kind and courteous, and check-in was quick, so we were able to get into our Room early and relax. The steak and roast beef set meal brought to our Room was very delicious. In the morning, we also enjoyed breakfast, including egg dishes such as a tasty omelet. The large public bath and open-air bath felt too hot for me. Even the indoor bath somehow felt a bit hot as well. There was also a sauna and cold plunge pool, so we were able to enjoy the Onsen. Although the facilities are old, they are well maintained, and we could feel thoughtful attention to detail everywhere.

I’ve stayed here several times. The Room is wonderful—clean, comfortable, and easy to use—and the view is amazing. The Hotel staff provide exceptionally high-quality service, making it a very relaxing place to stay. The dinner and breakfast buffet are outstanding; everything is truly delicious. It’s far beyond typical buffet food! This time as well, the staff provided memorable service, and I’m truly grateful. I will definitely come again. Thank you very much.

It was a wonderful, very comfortable Accommodation. The Room layout and atmosphere were excellent, and simply gazing at the forest view from the window was soothing—I lost track of time. The in-room Onsen was easy to use, and the water temperature was perfect whenever I bathed. The staff who assisted us were also wonderful. The meals were delicious, and the portions were just right. I would love to stay again in a different season.

The luxury of having an open-air bath in the Room. I found myself soaking again and again—at night, in the middle of the night, and in the morning. The meals were beautifully presented and more than plentiful, and I also enjoyed a variety of local sake. And there was the coolness unique to the highlands. In every way, it was a wonderful trip where I truly felt relaxed and unhurried. Thank you very much.

It is a wonderful Accommodation where you can truly relax. We would love to visit again if we have the chance. It was our first time staying in Nasu, and it became a lovely memory for us. In particular, the male attendant’s lighthearted talk at dinner made everyone smile and created a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you very much. We couldn’t hear pets from other rooms, and our dog seemed to relax and enjoy the stay. Having a private open-air bath made it easy to use at any time, which was wonderful. The meals were delicious, but since there were many hot pot dishes on a warm day, we felt that a few more chilled options might have been nice—overall, we were very satisfied.

I was truly soothed by the open-air bath attached to my Room. Listening to the evening cicadas and feeling the breeze, I enjoyed soaking in the Onsen with an indescribable sense of calm. I would love to visit again when I return to Japan. Some of the staff were international, but everyone spoke Japanese very well, which made me feel at ease. Thank you very much.

On my first trip to Nasu-Shiobara, I stayed at Laforet and was able to relax in a Hotel set in a wonderful natural environment. The Shuttle Service driver and the front desk staff were very helpful, and the meals were delicious with a well-balanced menu. The staff who served the food also had excellent manners, which made the experience even more pleasant. The sulfur bath soothed my fatigue. The room was well cleaned and maintained, and I was satisfied with everything at an affordable price.

We were able to stay with our dog and had a wonderful time. The meals were delicious, and the golf course greens viewed from the Hotel were dazzling.

A unique accommodation where you can enjoy a campfire. The Tenger Stay offers an extraordinary experience, perfect for escaping the ordinary. We recommend renting traditional Mongolian attire for an added touch. The meals exceeded expectations and were very delicious. At night, you can enjoy a short horsehead fiddle performance (about 30 minutes). The bath is a large public bath, and the Onsen's quality left the skin feeling moisturized. Basic skincare products from Sekkisei are available here. Please note that there is no toilet in the room, and it requires a short walk, which might be inconvenient for those who need frequent access. However, hygiene was not an issue. Sandals are provided in the Ger, so there's no need to wear shoes inside. The staff were all very friendly and provided excellent hospitality. I would love to visit again in a different season.
