I visited Hiiragiya again. I had made a Reservation for a Room with a bath and toilet, but I was first shown to a Room without them. It was still very comfortable, but when I asked to Check Reservation, I was told there had been a mistake, and you kindly arranged for me to stay in the Room associated with author Yasunari Kawabata. Thank you for your thoughtful care. Once again, I enjoyed Kyoto’s summer flavors—chilled edamame soup topped with sea urchin, pike conger sashimi, grilled tilefish with crispy scales, jellied soft-shelled turtle broth, Kamo eggplant with sesame sauce, and more—then fully enjoyed Yoiyama and fell asleep thinking of Mr. Kawabata before continuing on to the Gion Festival. Kyoto is changing little by little, but this is the beauty of Japan—and the spirit of Japanese hospitality—that I hope will be passed on to future generations.

Its kaleidoscopic beauty resonates deeply in the heart. Exquisitely prepared with sincere care, the cuisine is truly delicious. A beautiful garden that reflects the seasons—so captivating you could gaze at it forever. Elegant summer décor that lets you fully experience Kyoto’s traditional culture. Hanging scrolls, ikebana, and a beautifully arranged Room down to every detail. The head chef, attendants, the young proprietress, and the proprietress herself offer warm, attentive hospitality with genuine grace. Thinking that all of this beauty is an expression of love for each guest fills me with freshness and gratitude. At Kikkawa, you can feel the refined spirit of Kyoto—an appreciation for making everyday life beautiful and joyful. It began as an Accommodation I hoped to stay at at least once in my life; before I knew it, this was my 11th visit. A superb culinary Ryokan I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who truly loves Kyoto.

I think this Accommodation is perfect for a stay during the Gion Festival. I also enjoyed both the Italian and Japanese cuisine. Watching a maiko dance during my stay became a wonderful memory—thank you very much. It seems that, in exchange for opening the lounge, the drinks in the refrigerator have been limited to mineral water only. However, because the lounge has short opening hours, it was not very convenient. I usually stay at Hiramatsu-level Accommodations, but this was the first time I had to buy sparkling mineral water at a convenience store during my stay. That said, it is still a great Accommodation, and I would be happy to stay again.

I was deeply relaxed in this luxurious space where I could feel Kyoto in every detail. The bath also had a genuine herbal soak, letting me enjoy a truly indulgent Onsen-like experience. The amenities were well stocked, and the futon and pillows were fluffy, so I slept soundly. It was a wonderful trip that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would definitely love to stay again. Although I live in Kyoto City, I chose this Hotel because I wanted to enjoy an Onsen and a delicious breakfast close by without traveling far. The result was a truly wonderful stay that left me completely satisfied and thinking, “I definitely want to come back!” The cute yet elegant, almost overseas-like atmosphere lifted my spirits the moment I arrived. The door leading to the guest Room floors requires you to tap your Room key card, which felt secure and luxurious. I also enjoyed the organic drip coffee in my Room as a welcome drink, and it instantly made me feel relaxed and happy. As for the Onsen—what a treat! I enjoyed it three times: in the evening, before bed, and again in the morning. I was especially delighted by the complimentary beer service at the spa lounge available with bathing until 6:00 p.m. I drank about half in the lounge and took the rest back to my Room; enjoying it while watching Kyoto’s cityscape shift from dusk into neon-lit night through the window was simply perfect. What impressed me most during this stay was breakfast! When entering the venue, as soon as the receptionist greeted me cheerfully, all of the staff inside welcomed me with “Good morning,” which instantly made me feel excited. Even though I was dining alone, their thoughtful hospitality felt warm, and I remained comfortable throughout. Every dish—Japanese and Western—was truly delicious. From freshly made dashimaki tamago prepared by the chef to Kyoto-style obanzai side dishes and detox water, I enjoyed sampling many different items little by little. Their smart service—quietly clearing empty plates each time I stood up—was also very pleasant, and before I knew it, an hour had passed as I savored breakfast. This may have been one of the most satisfying breakfasts I've ever had. Since checkout is at 11:00 a.m., it was also a great memory being able to visit nearby Rokkakudo Temple after breakfast. This is truly a treasure of a Hotel—easy to reach by public transportation, with high-quality Onsen facilities and an outstanding breakfast that leaves you feeling refreshed. I'd love to recommend it to friends around me, and I'll definitely be back myself! Thank you for such a lovely time.

I was able to fully enjoy the Gion Festival. Last year I stayed at a Hotel near Kyoto Station, and getting around by subway was a hassle, so this time I chose this place near the Yamaboko-cho area. I had stayed here back when it was Mitsui Garden, so I already knew my way around and had a comfortable, stress-free stay. All of the Hotel staff were pleasant and greeted me with smiles. Just one thing: after the first night, housekeeping may have been missed—there was only a bag of towels hanging on the doorknob, and the trash bins in the Room were left as they were. Also, the loungewear and bath mat weren’t in the bag, so I went to pick them up myself. The next day, I proactively put out the trash bins and used towels into the hallway before going out. I wasn’t sure how the housekeeping system worked, but it was within what we could handle flexibly on our side, so it wasn’t an issue. For the Gion Festival, this is my only choice—I felt like it’s a Hotel I’d like to return to again next year. Thank you very much.

Great location with easy access—close to both the station and the bus stop. Both the Facility and the Room are new and spotless. You can eat and drink in the lounge 24 hours a day, and there are plenty of board games that kids will love. The front desk staff also provided excellent service— nothing to complain about!!! I’ll definitely stay here again when I travel to Kyoto!! This time it was just my son and me, so it felt very spacious, but for a family of four it might be a bit tight. Next time we’re four, I’ll choose a suite room.

Kyoto was experiencing extreme heat day after day, but the time I spent at the Hotel and ShinPuhKan was very comfortable, allowing me to enjoy my stay without overexerting myself. The breakfast in particular exceeded my expectations. Each dish was carefully prepared, and I could really taste the quality of the ingredients. Everything was delicious, and it became one of the highlights of my stay. The location integrated with ShinPuhKan was also very appealing. During the hottest hours I relaxed at the Hotel, then once it cooled down I enjoyed walking around the area—overall a truly pleasant experience. All of your staff were warm and welcoming, and I would definitely like to stay again when I visit Kyoto. Thank you very much.

Right after arriving, we enjoyed tea time with Sadaharu Aoki petit cakes and macarons. Just as the Reviews said, everything was delicious. The champagne at cocktail time was excellent, and the selection of snacks and dishes was even better than the Reviews suggested. Not only was the breakfast omelet great, but the ochazuke was also delicious. We would definitely like to visit again.

In addition to 24-hour lobby service with coffee and cold tea, we also enjoyed wine from 15:00 to 20:00 and shaved ice, which was a very thoughtful touch. The location was extremely convenient for getting anywhere, and since it’s right by Exit 1, we really appreciated not having to walk far to the station in the summer heat. We would definitely love to stay again.

I really appreciated that the Room was ready before check-in and I was able to enter early. Since it was a single Room, it felt small and a bit dated, but the bathroom was new, clean, and very comfortable to use. I was slightly concerned that the Wi-Fi connection was unstable. The location was convenient, and it was a warm and refined Hotel unlike chain Hotels, making my stay very comfortable. The French toast at breakfast was also very delicious. The front desk staff were helpful as well. I will stay here again.

This was my second stay. It was a Multiple Night Stay, and I really appreciated that complimentary water was included along with the replacement towels. Many places don’t offer that these days. The building was clean and comfortable to stay in. However, the hallway felt a bit too dark.

I always stay here when visiting Kyoto. The staff are always quick and smooth in their service. This time, they gave me a Room with a view from the window, which made it bright and I was very happy!

It had been a while since I last stayed at this brand’s Hotel, and I was satisfied. First, the location: it is convenient, yet not in a noisy area. The Room size, Facility features and amenities, and the staff’s service were all excellent. Check-in was smooth, and the hospitality—such as welcome drinks—was also great. The price was appropriate, and I feel I received an experience well worth it.

I celebrated the New Year here after a long time. This was my third stay. As always, the room and bath were truly comfortable, and I enjoyed the delicious drinks and alcohol in the lounge. With fewer rooms, it’s quiet and perfect for a relaxing stay. Being part of the Tokyu Stay group, it naturally has a washing machine and microwave, but this accommodation even has a freezer, which is a great bonus! Highly recommended.

Thank you again for your hospitality. Just three stops from Kyoto Station and also close to Karasuma Oike, it’s convenient yet quiet and comfortable. There are complimentary drinks, and alcohol is available at certain times. I’d be even happier if there were some Kyoto-style tea as well! I’ll be back again!

The station and a convenience store were both very close by, which was really helpful. The room felt more spacious than expected, with calming modern colors, and everything was very clean, making for a comfortable stay. I also appreciated the wide selection of amenities available at the front desk. It’s rare to see corn soup among the drink options, and it was nice to have something slightly salty to choose from. Overall, I felt it offered excellent value for money. I had booked a Plan without breakfast, but when I returned to the Hotel around lunchtime to pick up my luggage, I noticed they offered lunch. It came with salad, dessert, and coffee at a reasonable price, and I could enjoy my meal at a relaxed pace—it felt like a great deal. I’d definitely like to stay again if I have the chance.

I’ve tried several nearby Business Hotels, but this Hotel offers the best value for the price, and it has recently become my regular choice. As others have mentioned, all the staff are pleasant and welcoming. Soundproofing is also decent. Personally, I like that there is a water dispenser on each floor (instead of complimentary bottled water), disposable slippers are provided, the shower water pressure is strong, and the roller shade plus curtains can completely block outside light (since I tend to wake up late). Also, while many Business Hotels have a 10:00 check-out time, this one is 11:00. I’d like to thank the staff for supporting such a comfortable stay.

The travel schedule was postponed, leading to a need to rebook the hotel. By chance, we chose this place and it turned into a wonderful experience. The service was attentive, and every staff member greeted us with a smile throughout our stay. We also booked dinner here—what a surprise! The restaurant's reviews were so good that it felt like hitting the jackpot. Before dining, we were taken to the kitchen for an introduction to the day's ingredients. During meals, each group has their own private space without worrying about being disturbed by others (this applies to both breakfast and dinner). Unfortunately, due to language barriers (poor English and no Japanese), we missed out on opportunities for an even better experience. As expected with older buildings, soundproofing could be improved; activities upstairs caused some noise from above. The bathroom had only partial bamboo screens around the bath area—it felt slightly exposed as gaps allowed views of neighboring spaces... Overall though, it was an amazing experience! Next time, I’d love to try staying in a second-floor room if possible!
