Pros: - It’s a reasonably priced Hotel, but as you’d expect from the Banyan Tree chain, the service felt comparable to a high-end Hotel. Even though I stayed only one night, the front desk staff remembered my name, and every staff member was quick and professional in their manner. After checkout, I asked if they could keep some food refrigerated with my luggage, and they kindly agreed. - A shower-only setup may be a matter of preference, but since it was midsummer it was perfectly comfortable. If anything, it made the Room feel more spacious. - The tatami raised seating area is also very relaxing. I would have preferred floor cushions (zabuton) rather than regular cushions, but that may be aimed at international guests. Cons: (All minor points—nothing decisive) - The nearest station is Sanjo Keihan, so I wouldn’t say access to all of Kyoto is ideal (though the exit is right there, so it’s a great location if you plan to explore nearby areas). - The in-room TV remote has buttons for Netflix and other services, but the TV isn’t connected to the internet so you can’t use them—disappointing. - This is common in Ryokan-style setups, but the ceramic washbasin has a rough texture; when washing your face it can feel slightly painful if your fingers brush against it. - I used the spa; since it seems to be set up in renovated standard guest Rooms and you step out into the guest Room corridor from reception first, it may feel a bit less “special” or immersive. The treatment itself was very good.

The staff were kind and welcoming, and their friendly smiles made me feel at ease. The refined amenities were more than sufficient, so you can stay comfortably without bringing much. In particular, having the bath and toilet separate was very convenient and allowed me to unwind.

Located in an excellent spot at Kawaramachi Takoyakushi, it is an ideal base for sightseeing in Kyoto. The Room is spacious, and the layout with a vanity sink in the center is very convenient. With a sliding door separating the bedroom and utility area, we were able to sleep very quietly.

This was my second stay when attending a performance at Minamiza. The location is excellent, and it was also convenient for visiting Uzumasa Koryu-ji Temple. As with my previous stay, the attentive service was much appreciated. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, with a different menu each day.

The location was right in the heart of the Kawaramachi downtown area. It was close to the station, with many restaurants nearby, which was great. The Room and bathroom were very clean, so I felt comfortable staying there. The wall-mounted TV felt a bit small. It’s a Hotel with great value for money, and I recommend it.

I stayed on February 1. The service that delivered my luggage from your affiliated Hotel near Kyoto Station to the Hotel in Kawaramachi was convenient and very helpful. In the Room, it was inconvenient that the washbasin was in the bedroom and there was no changing area. I also noticed dust on the floor next to the bed. We stayed for New Year's Eve for two consecutive years. We were grateful for the accommodating response to our requests for in-room dining. It was also delightful that the staff remembered us from last year. We enjoyed our traditional New Year's Eve activity of watching the "Kohaku" with delicious food, and towards the end, we could hear the Joya no Kane from Chion-in, making it a wonderful New Year's celebration. We also appreciated the prompt response to our request for a stay certificate afterward.

Although the layout suggests it may once have been a love hotel, the property has been fully renovated and feels nothing like that. Above all, everything is spotless down to every corner; even the hallways are air-conditioned, making it comfortable, and the scent is like that of a high-end Hotel.
