It had been since last autumn, but this is an Accommodation that soothes me no matter when I visit. Of course, the Room and the Onsen are wonderful, as are the meals—modern French with witty, thought-provoking menus each time, and a Japanese breakfast made with carefully selected ingredients—but even more than that, I’m always delighted by the staff’s quiet attentiveness everywhere, including turndown service during both dinner and breakfast. I go outside the rear entrance to smoke each time, and there was a small bench that hadn’t been there before. Near the exit were several mats you can use on the bench. I was moved by these little touches and found myself even more captivated by Kokon. I’m already looking forward to deciding when to visit next.

Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and the ayu served at dinner this time was especially outstanding. The bath in the Room was also spacious, allowing us to relax and soak comfortably. We were soothed by the greenery in the garden, and we were also happy to see wild deer. We would love to visit again.

I’ve been wanting to visit in every season since my last stay, but our schedules never lined up, so we ended up returning in July again. The cedar-lined path from the Accommodation to Hakone Shrine felt cool and refreshing even under the strong sun, and we were lucky enough to hear the evening cicadas singing—reminding me once again how wonderful Hakone is. Even during dinner we could occasionally hear them; together with the thoughtfully prepared dishes with elegant seasoning and the recommended sake, it made for a truly luxurious time. The next day, after enjoying a healthy breakfast carefully prepared, we were kindly driven to Motohakone Port. From the deck of the pirate ship, we cruised while looking at Mt. Fuji and fully enjoying the cool breeze. We’ll be back again.

This Accommodation has become more upscale in recent years and is now a bit of a splurge for me, so I visited this time to take advantage of a great deal. As always, the Onsen was wonderful, the meals were delicious, and the Room was spacious and very comfortable. I was also happy that you remembered my various requests from previous stays. Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality again—I’d love to visit again when I find another opportunity.

I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, but I may have never felt this comfortable anywhere else. We decided to go to Hakone on short notice and made a Reservation. The food was beyond words—watching it disappear was genuinely sad (in the best way). When my father dropped his napkin and I went to pick it up, a staff member immediately came over and brought a fresh one. Even though our Reservation was last-minute, they also prepared an anniversary message plate for my parents. This is true hospitality! The open-air bath in the Room was pure luxury, and the water felt wonderful. This is an Accommodation I definitely want to return to. Thank you so much!

Now in my 40s and with my parents in their 70s, I stayed here for a special parent-and-child trip. Unfortunately, it rained, but in the end we had an extremely satisfying stay. The sense of history, the tasteful architecture and furnishings, the staff’s hospitality, the wonderful meals (we dined at Le Trianon for both dinner and breakfast), and the cleanliness of the large public bath—plus the stunning view from the open-air bath—were all outstanding. My parents were truly delighted as well. In particular, Le Trianon’s breakfast course was the best we have ever had on any trip! Each dish—from the egg dishes to the smoothies—was carefully explained to us, making it a memorable experience (I was especially impressed that they used eggs from my hometown). Recently I stayed at newer luxury hotels in Karuizawa and Atami in a similar price range to this Hotel, but this historic Hotel clearly stands apart in terms of service and atmosphere. I hope to return with my family someday. Thank you very much.

We visited this Accommodation for the first time in March after it received the strongest “Absolutely!” recommendation among several options, and it was the first time in a while that we felt completely satisfied in every respect. From the courteous and accurate communication during the Reservation process, to the atmosphere, use of space, staff professionalism, and cuisine—everything met our expectations. With an Accommodation of this caliber, I wasn’t particularly worried about the food, and I had already seen photos of the interior on the website so I assumed there would be no surprises. In the end, however, what matters most is “people.” With group stays, requests often cause inconvenience and there are usually one or two small oversights on the day—but here everything was perfect. This time we came as individuals. We returned both to confirm our impressions and to be moved all over again. The entrance—still fresh in my memory as a favorite—is spacious and quiet. It harmoniously blends cutting-edge design with traditional charm despite being complete opposites. Personally, it may be my favorite part. Our Room this time was more compact than last time but more than sufficient for one night. The open-air bath is also spacious and easy to use even though it has privacy screening. The private dining room felt almost too large for just two people. The timing of each course and the staff’s warm smiles made for a truly comfortable—and delicious—meal. Overall, what stayed with me is how rare this Facility is: an excellent balance of new and old, genuine warmth from people, and employees who approach their work with sincerity—all coming together in perfect harmony. Newer Accommodations with a full resort feel are wonderful in their own way as well; however, as an Onsen Accommodation, this is a place I can confidently recommend as a distinctly Japanese stay where timeless tradition is beautifully integrated. Thank you once again for taking such great care of us. We are truly grateful for a relaxing stay that healed both body and mind. Thank you very much.

We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary, and everything was exceptional. Being able to soak in the wonderful Onsen at any time, surrounded by the soothing scent of hinoki cypress, was pure bliss. The meals were outstanding—especially breakfast. We were truly impressed by the carefully prepared dishes made with delicious dashi, and ended up eating far more rice than usual. Every staff member was kind and attentive with just the right sense of distance, allowing us to relax throughout our stay. We would love to return again. With more newly opened Hotels in Hakone, we have stayed at several, but after visiting Hiramatsu again for the first time in a while, we truly rediscovered how comfortable it is. My mother and I enjoyed a relaxing, unhurried stay, and we were very satisfied with both the quality and quantity of the meals. We will definitely return. Thank you again for everything.

We stayed with our baby, and it was such a wonderful Accommodation that we’d love to visit again even as adults only. The chic, calming interior was beautiful, and you could feel the attention to detail in every piece of furniture, appliance, and decor. The Room had adorable children’s chairs and slippers, a yoga mat, DVD rentals, a star chart, and more. The space itself was so comfortable that simply spending time at the Accommodation felt truly restorative. At the front desk there was a complimentary drink service including alcohol such as beer and sake, as well as delicious decaf coffee that pregnant guests and breastfeeding moms can enjoy. On top of that, all drinks and snacks in the in-Room refrigerator were also free—such a thoughtful touch that made us feel genuinely cared for. The private open-air bath attached to the Room was a solid rock-built bath with an impressive presence; soaking slowly while surrounded by nature was incredibly relaxing. Most memorable of all was the view from the Room: refreshing mountains stretching out before us, with Sagami Bay visible beyond. Just staying in the Room while gazing out the window felt luxurious—we lost track of time and truly unwound. Each dish showed great care and craftsmanship; everything was delicious and we were completely satisfied. Although we stayed with a child, thanks to the warm hospitality of all the staff we were able to spend our time very comfortably.

Although it was my first stay, the price was affordable and I was very satisfied with the meals, the Onsen, and the location. It was a little out of the way, so it felt like being in the forest and I could relax at a leisurely pace. Thank you very much.

We stayed in a 14-tatami room with the Beef Shabu-Shabu Plan. We drove there, and after check-in they kindly provided Shuttle Service to Togendai. Dinner featured beautifully marbled beef shabu-shabu, which got the whole family excited, and it was delicious. Although we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji even once due to afternoon thunderstorms on both days, we were very satisfied with the great hot spring bath and tasty meals.

We had seen a Review saying the pool temperature was low, and since it was a chilly day we were worried, but it was comfortably warm. The first-floor flooring is also not slippery, so I think it’s dog-friendly. If possible, it would have been even better if the second-floor flooring were made of similarly non-slip materials. The quality of the free-flowing Onsen water was great as well, and it was a wonderful Accommodation that makes not only dogs but also people want to come back.

I stayed here with my wife for our wedding anniversary. The Room and the in-room bath were very clean, and we were able to relax and enjoy a wonderful time. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious no matter what we tried, and we were truly impressed. All of the staff were kind, and greeted us every time we saw them, so even though it was just a one-night stay, we felt very comfortable throughout. If we have the opportunity, I sincerely hope to stay here again. Thank you very much for providing such a wonderful experience.

The Okinawa Fair and the tuna carving show were amazing! This was our second visit during summer vacation, and it was so delicious that we’d love for you to hold it again next year. The open-air bath in the Room was also very comfortable, and no matter how many times we visit in a year, we never get tired of it. The warm smiles and attentive hospitality from the proprietress and all the staff are so comforting and relaxing that every time we come, we find ourselves wanting to return again soon. We’ll be back before the end of the year—thank you very much.

It was a wonderful Accommodation. The Room size and the open-air bath were both just right for relaxing. The staff were also lovely, with the perfect sense of distance, and it was very soothing. I’m quite strict about cleanliness, but it was flawless. I’d love to stay again. For this price, the quality makes me want to come back.

We stayed in the largest Room. Even the bath in the Room had a view of Lake Ashi. For dinner, our second son wanted Western food, so we chose French cuisine. It was delicious!! He especially liked the bread. The women’s bath was amazing too, with an open-air bath and a mist sauna!! We happened to stay on a day when there were fireworks. We went to watch from a spot where you can see them from the observation deck and the bridge below. They looked absolutely beautiful! In the evening, the lounge becomes a free lounge where you can enjoy drinks and snacks! At check-in, we also booked in-Room massages for all four of us!! I fell asleep halfway through. For breakfast, we chose Japanese cuisine. The grilled fish was horse mackerel and it was delicious!! It’s a Hotel I’d love to stay at again when visiting Hakone.

KUON’s concept is “a place where people in their 20s and 30s can feel a little more grown-up than yesterday.” This time, we’re sharing our impressions from the perspective of guests in our 50s and above, including tips for an even more comfortable stay. [An Outstanding Experience] 1) The food is exceptional! Above all, we were truly impressed by the chef’s cuisine. Each dish—unlike anything you’ll find at other hotels—was so beautifully presented that it made us gasp “Wow!” The combinations of ingredients were fresh and creative, and everything was delicious. A full 11-course menu (including two desserts) comes with a pairing: one drink for every two dishes, totaling about 5–6 drinks (non-alcoholic options available). 2) You can travel light With amenities provided—including a Dyson hair dryer—as well as loungewear, tabi socks, and slippers, we were able to relax comfortably without bringing much. 3) All-inclusive Drinks in the in-Room refrigerator are free, with a wide selection including alcohol. We also enjoyed yuzu tea served at night in the lounge, along with nuts and chocolate. 4) Enjoy flowing Onsen water in your Room Being able to enjoy natural Onsen water flowing directly into the bath anytime you like is a major highlight. Even in a Standard Room, opening the window creates a semi-open-air bath experience—and it was great that you can close the window if insects are an issue. [Tips for an Even More Comfortable Stay] 1) Getting to the Hotel The Hotel is located slightly away from tourist areas, up a narrow and steep road without sidewalks. If you have concerns about walking or if the weather is bad, taking a taxi from the station is recommended. 2) Bath setup There are no handrails by the bath area and the stool is on the smaller side, so older guests may want to take extra care. 3) Seating for meals The dining area offers both table seating and counter seating with high chairs. If you’d like to dine at ease or if you’re older, requesting “table seating” in advance will give peace of mind. 4) For light eaters The pairings are excellent but add up to quite a bit of liquid. If you don’t eat much or prefer fewer drinks, it helps to share your preferences regarding drink quantity ahead of time. [Helpful items to bring] - Coffee (recommended if you’re particular about it) - Post-bath loungewear (there are no bathrobes; having your own makes things more comfortable) - Earplugs (recommended if noise bothers you) [Summary] This was a highly satisfying stay that made us want to return for its relaxed pace and outstanding cuisine. A truly one-of-a-kind Hotel we’d love to visit again in another season.

From the moment we boarded the elevator to the Ryokan from in front of Sounzan Station, it was an exciting experience. The Accommodation and all the staff welcomed us with a warm atmosphere, and everything—the Room, the carefully prepared meals, the Onsen, and the views—was wonderfully soothing.
