In conclusion, this Accommodation offered outstanding value for money! I had made separate one-night Reservations for different Rooms, but when availability opened up, I was able to stay in the same Room for two nights. I chose the Deluxe Japanese-style Room, and upgrading was definitely the right decision. The first thing I did after arriving was head straight to the Onsen. The water quality was incredible—silky and pleasantly smooth—and it genuinely felt like it left my skin refreshed. The washing area is spacious, and the indoor bath is more than large enough. The open-air bath is a bit smaller, but the water was so clean and soothing that it didn’t matter at all. I would happily come back just for this Onsen. The meals were also excellent. Although it’s a buffet, it wasn’t the typical “hotel buffet” with mass-produced dishes. Instead, each item felt carefully prepared. There aren’t countless options, but both the taste and quality were more than satisfying. I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights, and the initial plated dish (separate from the buffet) featured different ingredients on each day—both were delicious. Some buffet items also changed on day two, so I never felt bored even with dinner twice in a row. The wood-fired pizza was especially good—I ended up eating too much on both days. Honestly, if you ate this dinner every day you’d definitely gain weight (in a good way). It was nothing like an ordinary hotel buffet that simply reheats frozen food. Breakfast was just as good. The view from the Room was amazing as well, which made me even happier that I chose the Deluxe Japanese-style Room. By luck I was on the top floor (5th floor), with a full view of Happo-One Ski Resort—including the ski jump—so it felt fantastic. I honestly think this Accommodation has one of the best vantage points in the area in terms of seeing over the entire resort and how close it feels to the mountains. Switching to two nights in this Deluxe Japanese-style Room was absolutely worth it. If you’re unsure which side to choose, I highly recommend a ski-resort-facing Room. The Accommodation itself may be somewhat older, but there wasn’t a single place where it felt old (or dirty). If anything, it feels very clean throughout. Even my window had been thoroughly cleaned, so I could enjoy their proud ski-resort view through spotless glass. All staff members were kind and welcoming with genuine smiles, which made my stay even better. I would absolutely like to stay here again.

The room was excellent. There was plenty of space between the beds and between the bed and the wall, so I could relax comfortably. The placement of the chair and desk was also very good. It was the first time I’ve ever been this satisfied with a room.\nThe hot spring was very clean, but I noticed a chlorine smell. It also seemed slightly cloudy, which made me wonder about it as a hot spring. A colleague who specializes in chemistry said, “If there are impurities, it warms you up,” so I convinced myself and enjoyed warming up.\nI would like to stay again.

This was our first time staying at a Hotel in Tsunan with our dog. We used to stay in cottages with our children, but after we started keeping a dog, it was hard to visit Tsunan. Thanks to the pet-friendly Room and the new dog run, we were able to fully enjoy comfortable autumn days in Tsunan. The all-inclusive plan was also appealing, and comparing different types of Japanese sake was a lot of fun. Next time, we’d like to visit in winter for skiing and lanterns. Thank you very much.

Since it is right in front of Echigo-Yuzawa Station, getting around was easy with almost no travel needed. I was able to use the foot bath and enjoy cake at the cafe as well. I chose a plan with breakfast only, without dinner. Breakfast felt a little less satisfying than before. Overall, I was satisfied. I booked a Room with an open-air bath and was able to use it many times.

A large Hotel that appears as you steadily climb the mountain after passing through Azumino’s peaceful countryside. It was my first visit in several years, and it had been renovated—the lobby, front desk, and large public bath were all new and spotless. After the sauna, relaxing on the outdoor terrace surrounded by forest air was incredibly refreshing. Meals are served on a terrace overlooking the woods. In particular, in the morning I enjoyed coffee and pancakes while being soothed by birdsong and the scent of the trees. (I also had grilled rice balls and curry.) We stayed in a maisonette Room, which was spacious and perfect for a relaxing stay. I’m planning to return again in a different season.

If you’d like the rice and miso soup served earlier at dinner, it’s best to ask. (I’m not sure about the Ryokan’s unspoken rules, but if you don’t say anything, they seem to ask near the end—just before dessert—and will bring them if needed.) Breakfast had a bit more pickles and pre-made dishes than expected, so I would have appreciated a few more freshly cooked warm items.

Dinner was delicious as well—an unusual style of half-buffet with robatayaki grilling—and the large public bath with an open-air bath was very relaxing. The staff were courteous and attentive, which we really appreciated. The Facility is a bit old, but we chose this Accommodation in Tateshina as the place to commemorate reuniting with my wife for the first time in 50 years, and we were very satisfied. I made an Accommodation Reservation to visit the permanent exhibitions of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale. I chose this place because I thought it would surely be fully booked around the time of next year’s event, and I wanted to stay here before then. On the way there, I used the Shuttle Service bus. Since it’s quite a distance from the station to the Accommodation, using it was definitely the right choice. After arriving, I was able to relax with a welcome drink and sweets while enjoying the view outside, and spent a very peaceful time. The bath is small, but soaking while watching the sky darken and looking out over the forest was wonderful. Dinner featured shabu-shabu as the main dish. The rice was delicious in a way that really reminded me this is Niigata, and there was also a great selection of sake and wine. I enjoyed my meal while taking in the slowly fading scenery. It seemed like all of the other guests staying there looked happy as well. The items provided in my Room were minimal—nothing unnecessary—and I actually appreciated that. (I forgot to bring makeup remover, but they had Sekkisei amenities, which really helped! I use it regularly too, so that made me even happier.) One request: I would have liked a small step stool near the washer & dryer area. Since I’m not very tall, I couldn’t reach far enough into the dryer. Breakfast looked and tasted exactly like what you’d call “a Japanese breakfast,” and I was very satisfied. Thank you very much.

For vacations of two days or more, I choose a vacation rental rather than a Hotel or an Onsen Ryokan. From my experience with several rentals, prices and the quality of Facility management vary widely depending on the operator. This property is well maintained with no musty smell inside, towels can be replaced if you go to the management office yourself, the price is reasonable, and the area is quiet—I'd happily stay here again.

The private bath is a semi-open-air outdoor bath with a roof, yet it still feels wonderfully open. Spacious and recommended for large families as well. One of the highlights is our friendly, affectionate cats.

While Marriott Hotels are often associated with polished service, perhaps because this is not a large-scale Hotel, the hospitality here was friendly and warm, and every staff member we interacted with had a wonderful smile. I’m sorry for the trouble we caused when my son’s Switch wouldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi. They even contacted a service provider to get it connected, and my son was truly grateful. The Room also felt very Hakuba—woody and simple, but exactly my taste. The ReFa shower head in the bath and the amenities were excellent as well. The meals were also incredibly elaborate and detailed; I was especially moved by the appetizer inspired by Hakuba’s scenery. I often can’t finish a full course meal, but this time I was able to enjoy every last bite. In winter, it seems we’ll be able to see a completely different landscape in many ways, so this is an Accommodation I’d love to revisit during ski season.

Although the building is old, the facilities were clean and well maintained, and my stay was comfortable. With unlimited Asahi Super Dry included at the dinner buffet, plus a breakfast buffet, I was satisfied with the price. I would like to stay here again.

It rained all day, which was disappointing, but the hot spring and delicious dinner at Misuzuso were so relaxing that it turned into a wonderful day. We used the coin laundry. We weren’t sure how to use it, but the staff kindly showed us, and everyone was very courteous. Thank you again.

I stayed here to visit Kiyotsu Gorge. It was my first trip to Niigata. Perhaps because it was a weekday, there weren’t many guests, so I could relax and take my time. At the Premium Lounge, drinks such as beer were all-you-can-drink, and the Onsen’s open-air bath was wonderful. Dinner was a course meal, and breakfast was a buffet— both were very filling! It’s right in front of the ski slopes, so it’s a perfect location for skiing in winter. The station is within walking distance, but they kindly drove me back to the station on my way out. They took great care of everything, and I was very satisfied. Thank you very much.

We stayed here on the day we visited Kurobe Dam. It was conveniently close to the Ogizawa parking lot. Check-in was a little busy, but after that it never felt crowded, and we were able to take a relaxing bath and enjoy our meal at an unhurried pace, which helped us recover from sightseeing fatigue. The staff member who assisted us during dinner appeared to be from overseas, and their explanations and service were perfectly timed and very pleasant.

I stayed on the Shinshu Beef Plan. The meat was more generous than expected and absolutely delicious. There were also plenty of fresh vegetables, and the simple preparation let me fully enjoy their natural flavors. The Facility is old, but it has many furnishings that convey its history, and the overall atmosphere lets you immerse yourself in a Showa-era vibe. Perhaps due to energy-saving measures, some corridors and the post-bath lounge felt a bit dark at night and were slightly unsettling, but I can imagine how challenging it must be to maintain such large-scale facilities. The Onsen is one I want to visit again and again—please keep up the great work!

We stayed during the Obon holidays. The building is old, but it’s well maintained and very comfortable. The meals were delicious, and we tried yamame trout sashimi for the first time. The bath had dim lighting, which made it very relaxing. We also used it in the morning, and it felt wonderful surrounded by trees. We really enjoyed the evening event hosted by the staff.

Due to the typhoon forecast, our plans for the playland on the 2nd changed, but we relaxed in the Onsen and in our Room instead. The kids played inside the hotel, and we also enjoyed the festival games. The meals were good, but breakfast was very crowded, so empty plates stood out. I didn’t want to wait in line, so I just took what was available, and it was still enough. The staff were kind and guided us well. However, due to aging facilities, there were stains on the Room carpet and dust around the windows, as well as on the refrigerator and air conditioner… If you think of it as part of its history, it may not bother you too much.

We don’t usually return to the same places because we like to travel around, but my spouse and I agreed that we want to come back here—and plan to visit again next year. The private bath, the meals, and the owners’ warm hospitality were all wonderful. We’ll be back next year, and we look forward to seeing you again.
