I visited again after three years to enjoy the full tiger puffer course. It is delicious every time, and I never get tired of it. The hassun, soup dish, and takikomi rice were also excellent, and I ended up drinking quite a lot again. Of course, the ara course and other courses are also very tasty, but I still think Yoyokaku’s tiger puffer course is the best. The staff and everyone at the Accommodation were very pleasant, and the building and garden felt spacious and relaxing, so I was able to unwind once again. Thank you for upgrading us to a wonderful Room.

Every summer vacation, we stay at this seaside Hotel. The Rooms in the East Wing and the amenities are truly wonderful, and we always look forward to them. One small disappointment was that last year there was a bottle of water by the sink in the bathroom, but this time it wasn’t provided. Also, the staff’s service was excellent. In the morning, when my child and I were swimming in the sea, I’m not sure if it was a staff member or a volunteer, but someone was carefully picking up litter on the beach. It was wonderful. Thanks to that, there wasn’t any trash at all on the beach in front of the Hotel, and we could swim comfortably. We’ll be back again next year. We hope it will be even more upgraded—haha.

This was not just a clean Accommodation, but a place that felt like a “second home,” filled with warmth and thoughtfulness. In every corner of the Room, we could feel the host’s care and affection, and throughout our stay we felt comfortable and genuinely welcomed. The meals were also truly outstanding. Each dish was prepared with great care and sincerity—delicious, and an unforgettable taste. We had a truly wonderful time and are sincerely grateful. We would love to visit again.

The Room had a great view, and the large public bath was very relaxing. Also, being able to use the rental bicycles was helpful, as it allowed us to visit places that are difficult to reach on foot.

This was my first stay. Located right by the sea, the live squid sashimi enjoyed while watching the sunset was outstanding. The building is a bit old, but the detached annex is two stories and offers a nice sense of privacy. The location is great, and I was able to relax at a leisurely pace. Even before check-in, they kindly let a family member who wasn’t feeling well use a resting area, for which I’m very grateful. I’d love to stay again and have already shared it with friends.

Family stay After check-in, we could relax in the lounge. All-inclusive—plenty of snacks, too! Dinner had wonderful Kyushu flavors. Saga beef, sashimi, desserts, and even turban shells at breakfast. We ate so much, and the pancakes were amazing. After the bath, there was a soothing relaxation area with amazake available—it was truly calming. It made us want to come back again.

I came all the way from Hokkaido because I wanted to try Yobuko’s live squid. It turned out to be an excellent Hotel. Not only was the live squid cuisine outstanding, but the Room with its beautiful, expansive window overlooking the sea was also amazing. Next time, I’d love to visit again on a clear day. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

This was my first stay here (date of visit: August 17), and it far exceeded all expectations—it was a truly wonderful experience. We arrived around 4:00 p.m., and the staff welcomed us with warm smiles. From the moment we arrived, even before check-in, we could already feel their exceptional hospitality. I was also impressed by their thoughtful attention when they told us “today’s sunset time” as they guided us to our Room. We took a walk along the beach right in front of the Accommodation before sunset, and the pleasant sea breeze made it the perfect refresh. After our walk, we enjoyed the bath in our Room with a view of the beach. The sunset over the Genkai Sea from there was simply breathtaking—an incredibly beautiful panorama that left us speechless! We also bathed at night and again in the morning; spending time surrounded by clear ocean views and soothing wave sounds was pure relaxation at its best. The sushi kaiseki dinner “MURASAKI” was outstanding from start to finish, filled with careful craftsmanship throughout. Every dish showcased seasonal ingredients beautifully—such as lightly seared grunt fish from Genkai, steamed longtooth grouper custard-style, and overnight-dried sweetfish whose charcoal aroma stood out wonderfully. The main course of Saga beef grilled on magnolia leaf with miso, a comparison tasting of three kinds of tuna, and tilefish served with citrus vinegar were all exquisite—and I was completely satisfied all the way through dessert (Karatsu milk and cheese pudding). Breakfast surprised me even more. Beautifully arranged dishes were presented in a two-tiered jubako box; everything tasted amazing, with a level of luxury and quality far beyond what you’d expect from “breakfast.” Thanks to how attentively and kindly the staff checked on us throughout, we started our day feeling truly happy. With its location, spectacular baths with incredible views, superb cuisine, and warm hospitality—all perfectly delivered—this is an exceptional Accommodation. I will definitely return.

My family stayed in the Premium Ocean View Room. The renovated Room was very comfortable, and the bench seating by the window was especially convenient. The live squid we were looking forward to was served as frozen squid due to the weather, but it was still delicious and we were fully satisfied and stuffed. It was a shame that the water in the large public bath was lukewarm, but overall our satisfaction level was high. The location is not easy to reach by public transportation, but if you transfer buses well you can get right to the front of the Ryokan (on the way back, we walked to Yobuko Port).

As this building is a renovated former Ryokan, sound insulation is limited and you may hear noise from neighboring Rooms or the shared hallway. However, the in-room amenities have been updated, and the shower water pressure was stronger than at typical Hotels—no issues at all. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, and we enjoyed freshly grilled fish that changed daily. More than anything, the male staff were wonderful—thoughtful in every detail, from nearby sightseeing recommendations to dining suggestions and even checking on the air conditioning in the breakfast venue. After checkout, since we had time before the bus to Karatsu Station, they kindly told us we were welcome to wait inside. We also had a pleasant chat with the owner, and time flew by. There are impressive Hotels nearby such as Mercure and Seaside, but if you want to relax while looking out over the river, Karatsu Castle Hotel is highly recommended. It was a great Accommodation that made us want to stay again when visiting Karatsu. Thank you very much.

The dashi, seasonings, ingredients, tableware, and hospitality came together in perfect harmony to create dishes that truly warmed the body and soul. We were able to fully enjoy the Karatsu-yaki ceramics. The seasonal flowers displayed throughout the Accommodation were graceful, and the garden pines stood proudly—immaculately maintained. This is a culinary Accommodation where you’ll want to savor every last drop.

After arriving at the Accommodation, we borrowed an electric scooter and took a stroll along the seaside. Back in the Room, we worked up a sweat in the wood-burning stove sauna and felt refreshed, then enjoyed ice cream in the lounge while playing Pac-Man (lol). For dinner, we savored dishes featuring superb live squid and Saga beef with Tiger Beer, then went to sleep in a spacious bed while gazing out at the sea. Breakfast was also excellent—the rice was sweet and delicious, paired with local specialties like mirin-dried fish and squid shumai that you can only find here. After that, we took a cruise ship around Kabeshima Island. In the calm summer Genkai Sea, on the far side of Kabeshima we saw columnar joints like natural stone walls, listened to stories about islands near and far, and felt the wind as the boat sped along. We truly enjoyed an exceptionally special time. There are still so many great points I can’t even write them all—this all-inclusive Plan is simply amazing. On our way back they drove us to Karatsu-Nishi Station, making it easy to get to Hakata as well; it’s surprisingly accessible even without a car. This is an Accommodation I’ll keep remembering fondly long after returning home.

We stayed as a family of four with our pet. The four-person room, pet-friendly policy, and the ability to dine with our pet were excellent. It was especially helpful since our dog is elderly. Thank you for handling the forgotten item as well. It was a delightful stay for all four of us together after a long time.

The Room was clean and comfortable, and it was well equipped with appliances and tableware, so we could relax as if we were at home. We didn’t rent a car this time, but it was convenient to have a convenience store and Times Car Share nearby. The provided dishwashing detergent didn’t remove grease very well, so it would be even better if you could provide a commercially available one.

We chose this Ryokan because our 7-year-old wanted to try fishing, and we also wanted to eat live squid. The Facility itself felt like a classic Showa-era Ryokan—an older building with what seemed like quite a lot of Rooms—but it appears they currently limit reservations to only 2–3 parties. Since I work in real estate, I found myself imagining how challenging it must have been in the past to serve meals and accommodate large numbers of guests here. As for the fishing, the proprietress kindly taught us step by step, which was a huge help. However, perhaps due to the heavy rain, we only caught one small fish. Still, our child was thrilled, and it became a wonderful experience. For dinner, we thoroughly enjoyed the squid we had been looking forward to, and they also served our catch as fried fish. We were very satisfied. Saga Prefecture is far from where we live, so I’m not sure when we’ll be able to visit again—but if we get the chance, I’d love to return. The area around the Facility felt a bit quiet due to an aging population, but I hope this traditional Japanese Ryokan continues for many years.

A magnificent traditional Japanese house standing quietly in a hilly area. It seems to have opened recently, and with no Reviews at all, we made our Reservation based on the photos and description on the booking site. The result: absolutely the right choice! It brought back memories for the first time in decades of visiting a relative’s beautiful old home when I was a child. Spacious, spotless, and so much fun—we adults found ourselves walking around the Accommodation again and again. All Facilities, including the bathroom areas and appliances, are completely up to date. The price is unbelievably reasonable, so I honestly wasn’t expecting much in terms of amenities (sorry!), but everything is provided—you don’t need to bring anything. We also gratefully enjoyed the water, breakfast bread, and coffee. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend having a barbecue in the garden. There’s also a supermarket nearby. Basically it’s self-service. However, since everything you need is there, I think this is an ideal Accommodation for anyone who wants to do things at their own pace. By the way, it was online check-in so we didn’t get to meet them, but we heard it’s run by a couple. Their warm personality really came through in our email exchanges beforehand—I would have loved to meet them in person—so that’s my only regret. It isn’t an easy trip from Kanto, but it’s a wonderful place I’d love to visit again someday. Finally, I’m sorry this Review is so late.

Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious, and our child was very satisfied! Since you stay at a guesthouse expecting great food, it absolutely met our expectations! We want to eat squid again!

It was our first time staying in a trailer house, so we were a little nervous. It exceeded our expectations, and we were able to relax. The staff were kind, and it seemed my elderly parents enjoyed it as well. If I had one request, the bed was a bit too high and getting in and out was inconvenient; ideally, it would be around adult waist height. Thank you for taking care of us.\nThe view overlooking Imari Bay was also wonderful.

Overall, it was very good. However, please note that parking is first-come, first-served and you may end up parking far from your Room. The coin laundry is closed from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. These were the two things that caused me a bit of trouble this time. I used it for work, so I checked in early and didn’t return until after 11:00 p.m. Since it closes at midnight, I couldn’t do my laundry. My car was also parked in the farthest spot. The Room and the bed were very good. It was also nice to receive a frozen bento meal—you can eat it whenever you like. Having a microwave in each Room is very convenient!

Stayed at Karatsu Kimura Chaya to try squid The squid was very fresh and delicious. The simmered fish head, abalone, and sea bream chazuke for breakfast were all excellent. The view from the window was wonderful, and seeing Karatsu Castle while having breakfast—along with the cherry blossoms in full bloom—made it an unforgettable trip to Karatsu.
