From the moment we boarded the elevator to the Ryokan from in front of Sounzan Station, it was an exciting experience. The Accommodation and all the staff welcomed us with a warm atmosphere, and everything—the Room, the carefully prepared meals, the Onsen, and the views—was wonderfully soothing. We were able to spend a slow, quiet, luxurious time. Thank you very much.

We visited this Accommodation for the first time in March after it received the strongest “Absolutely!” recommendation among several options, and it was the first time in a while that we felt completely satisfied in every respect. From the courteous and accurate communication during the Reservation process, to the atmosphere, use of space, staff professionalism, and cuisine—everything met our expectations. With an Accommodation of this caliber, I wasn’t particularly worried about the food, and I had already seen photos of the interior on the website so I assumed there would be no surprises. In the end, however, what matters most is “people.” With group stays, requests often cause inconvenience and there are usually one or two small oversights on the day—but here everything was perfect. This time we came as individuals. We returned both to confirm our impressions and to be moved all over again. The entrance—still fresh in my memory as a favorite—is spacious and quiet. It harmoniously blends cutting-edge design with traditional charm despite being complete opposites. Personally, it may be my favorite part. Our Room this time was more compact than last time but more than sufficient for one night. The open-air bath is also spacious and easy to use even though it has privacy screening. The private dining room felt almost too large for just two people. The timing of each course and the staff’s warm smiles made for a truly comfortable—and delicious—meal. Overall, what stayed with me is how rare this Facility is: an excellent balance of new and old, genuine warmth from people, and employees who approach their work with sincerity—all coming together in perfect harmony. Newer Accommodations with a full resort feel are wonderful in their own way as well; however, as an Onsen Accommodation, this is a place I can confidently recommend as a distinctly Japanese stay where timeless tradition is beautifully integrated. We stayed with our baby, and it was such a wonderful Accommodation that we’d love to visit again even as adults only. The chic, calming interior was beautiful, and you could feel the attention to detail in every piece of furniture, appliance, and decor. The Room had adorable children’s chairs and slippers, a yoga mat, DVD rentals, a star chart, and more. The space itself was so comfortable that simply spending time at the Accommodation felt truly restorative. At the front desk there was a complimentary drink service including alcohol such as beer and sake, as well as delicious decaf coffee that pregnant guests and breastfeeding moms can enjoy. On top of that, all drinks and snacks in the in-Room refrigerator were also free—such a thoughtful touch that made us feel genuinely cared for. The private open-air bath attached to the Room was a solid rock-built bath with an impressive presence; soaking slowly while surrounded by nature was incredibly relaxing. Most memorable of all was the view from the Room: refreshing mountains stretching out before us, with Sagami Bay visible beyond. Just staying in the Room while gazing out the window felt luxurious—we lost track of time and truly unwound. Each dish showed great care and craftsmanship; everything was delicious and we were completely satisfied. Although we stayed with a child, thanks to the warm hospitality of all the staff we were able to spend our time very comfortably.

My mother and I stayed for one night in August 2026. After we arrived, we were shown to the larger Room. We truly appreciated this unexpected kindness. The garden was beautifully maintained, and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing time there. Every dish was delicious, and the portions were just right—not too much. The cuisine was classic and seasonal. After the bath, we went to the lounge, where there was a wonderful selection of art books and magazines, and the complimentary drinks were excellent. The mountain views and garden from there were so beautiful that they made us forget our everyday fatigue. The service felt just right—neither too close nor too distant. Since it was drizzling the next day, we were also grateful for the service of being driven to the Hakone Open-Air Museum. One suggestion: it would be even better if the labels for the shampoo and conditioner in the bath area were easier to understand (other older guests also seemed confused). I would love to visit your new Accommodation near Mt. Fuji as well. Thank you very much.

Before the renovation, I stayed about three times in “Kumo” on the 4th floor. This time, I enjoyed a Multiple Night Stay in “Ten.” The Room was spacious and comfortable. I loved the Japanese-style atmosphere with Ryukyu tatami and shoji screens. The Onsen had a silky feel, and the temperature was just right. Both the Japanese cuisine and my first teppanyaki experience were excellent. I was truly able to relax and unwind. Thank you very much to all the staff. One thing I would like improved is the shower water pressure in the bathroom—it was a bit too weak. I have made a Reservation for a three-night stay next year as well. Thank you in advance for your continued hospitality.

This time, we visited Lake Kawaguchi and Hakone for the first time, looking forward to seeing Mt. Fuji as part of my wife’s birthday trip. Although it was too cloudy to see the Mt. Fuji we had hoped for, we stayed at Setsugetsuka Bettei Suiun in Hakone and were able to fully enjoy the area. Our Room was a Standard Fourth, and it was very practical and well maintained with thorough cleaning, so we had a comfortable stay. The Onsen was at just the right temperature for me and left me feeling refreshed from the core, and it was also great to be able to use L’OCCITANE shampoo. For dinner, being able to choose the main dish and rice during the meal felt like a thoughtful service that let us decide based on our appetite. Breakfast offered such an abundant variety that we were so full we couldn’t even eat lunch afterward. The after-bath lounge area, along with complimentary drinks and snacks on each floor, was also a welcome service whenever we felt a little hungry. The staff’s hospitality was polite and easy to understand, which left a strong impression on us as well. After checkout we went to Gora Park, and at that time a parking staff member kindly advised us that taking the mountain railway one stop would allow us to walk downhill from top to bottom more easily—very helpful advice for an older couple like us. We hope to come back soon for our “I want to see Mt. Fuji with my own eyes!” revenge trip, and when we do, we would love to stay with you again.

We chose the Surprise Plan for a celebration, and the communication was very courteous. The Room and open-air bath were spacious, relaxing, and very clean. We were also happy to have plenty of free drinks. We chose the wagyu course, and everything was delicious. The staff were friendly, and we enjoyed chatting with them as well. Being able to adjust the open-air bath ourselves meant we could always soak at just the right temperature, which was a great feature. Breakfast was also excellent. We felt refreshed in both body and mind, the surprise was a success, and we’re truly glad we chose this place. We’d love to stay in one of the other Rooms too!

We always stay here when we visit Hakone. This was our third time, and since our son had been saying he wanted to come again and again, we looked forward to enjoying a family stay. From the matcha served at check-in, to the Japanese garden with a koi pond on the way to our Room, taking off our shoes before entering the Accommodation building, and then stepping into a simple tatami Room reminiscent of a tea room, decorated with wildflowers. The calm sense of security in the Room and the beauty of the Japanese garden seen from the open-air bath truly soothe us. The meals are wonderful every time, and we are grateful that you also serve such luxurious dishes for children. By chance, it was also the day of Lake Ashi’s fireworks, so we went to see them as well, making our family summer memories even more vivid. Thank you very much for your hospitality. We would love to return.

The building, Rooms, and all shared areas are stylish and spotless. The services and meals are excellent. There is nothing around the Hotel, so I was able to relax quietly in the in-room Onsen.

With only a few Rooms, it was quiet and very comfortable. The in-Room bath was spacious—large enough for about three adults to bathe comfortably. I liked the in-Room bath more than the public bath and used it many times. The amenities were well stocked, which I think many women will really appreciate. All of the meals were delicious, and the portions were just right—filling without being too much. The staff’s attentiveness was excellent, making this an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

Although we stayed for only one night, we were very satisfied. We were able to forget the hustle and bustle of the city, relax, and enjoy being surrounded by nature. The staff were wonderful, and it was an Accommodation we would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

This was my third stay. It was my first time visiting in summer, and the lush greenery outside the window was very soothing. There are many international staff members, but everyone works hard and it never feels out of place. This time, I ordered cake and coffee to go from the café lounge, and I really appreciated how a Japanese staff member carefully packed the cup in the cake box so it wouldn’t tip over—such thoughtful attention to detail. I’ll be back again. Thank you very much.

We were very satisfied with everything—the staff’s service, the atmosphere of the Accommodation, and the meals. We had an unexpected issue on our side, but they responded kindly and supportively, and we are truly grateful.

We stayed here on our silver wedding anniversary trip after a day of golf. With in-room dining, we were able to relax at a leisurely pace, and since the bath in the Room is also an Onsen, we could enjoy it whenever we liked. The staff were attentive in many ways, making the stay very comfortable. When we stayed previously, the manager remembered that I get cold easily and prepared extra bedding for us, so I slept comfortably. The Facility is old and there is no open-air bath, but it’s rare to find an Accommodation with such high-quality Onsen water, a charming pond where carp swim, and convenient access. We would love to stay again.

We stayed in a first-floor Room, and both the Room and the Onsen were spacious, allowing us to relax in great comfort. The tea served at check-in in our Room was truly delicious. It was the first time we’ve stayed at an Accommodation where we could freely enjoy such carefully selected tea and black tea. The selection of welcome drinks and snacks in the Room was also plentiful. I love drinking tea with good water, so having 2L of water provided was a personal highlight. I also appreciated having both yukata and loungewear. The staff were very kind. We had a wonderful stay and would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

[From Check-in to the Room] We arrived by car and were warmly welcomed. After check-in, we were escorted to our Room while enjoying tea and sweets. [Attractions] We chose one of the two activities and whisked matcha ourselves, then enjoyed tea on the Sky Corridor for a perfect digital detox. There was also a surprise arranged by my wife and the staff for me, which truly moved me—thank you so much. [Dinner] As the title suggests, the meal featured carefully selected ingredients gathered along the Tokaido route and a strong focus on water quality. We’ve enjoyed excellent cuisine at many places (Sekaie, Miwa, Karaku, Mayufutahari, Honbako, Hoshino Resorts, etc.), but this surpassed them all. From the dashi to rice served multiple ways with different textures and aromas, everything delighted all five senses—and our conversation with the staff made time fly by. Personally, I especially loved the rare bonito cutlet and Tajima-Gen beef shabu-shabu with chilled chawanmushi. [Breakfast] It began with wake-up tea. We had two kinds of dried fish (including horse mackerel), both outstanding. As with dinner, rice cooked in a clay pot was excellent—not only as white rice but also as crispy scorched rice enjoyed in hot water (“kogashi-yu”), which was a new discovery for us. Personally, I especially enjoyed the dried fish and simmered vegetables. [Room] A functional Room with thoughtful touches such as aroma oil for stone warming and three types of tea. Since it’s designed for digital detoxing there is no TV. We relaxed slowly in the semi-open-air bath in our Room. [Service] Everyone provided exceptional service—from those who helped arrange our surprise from Reservation through arrival day, to those who whisked matcha together with us as beginners; from dinner service by someone who shared my wife’s name to breakfast staff who kindly accommodated an unexpected request. Each moment became a lasting memory. [Overall] We will definitely return—next time in autumn or spring would be ideal. With such comfortable hospitality from everyone here, this Accommodation is deeply soothing and easy to recommend. Since it has only recently opened up: personally speaking it would be nice to have insect screens on the outer windows by the semi-open-air bath; also given how much care goes into tea and ingredients it might be great to have a small space where guests can buy souvenirs such as tea leaves teaware or dried fish as keepsakes.

Feel the closeness of nature and listen carefully: the rustling sound of bamboo leaves swaying in the wind, the chirping of insects and birds, and the moon floating in the vast sky. It was a time when my heart resonated quietly, deeply healing my soul. The open-air bath had water at just the right temperature, while the indoor bath was enveloped in a soothing aroma of cypress. The large sauna and cypress cold bath were also relaxing, and stepping out onto the terrace revealed an extraordinary view reminiscent of Bali or an overseas resort. This liberating accommodation where you can walk around freely feels truly unique. In the spacious living room, we enjoyed conversations at the counter, while in the large bath I shared luxurious moments talking with my daughter. Convenient for sightseeing as well—morning walks through silver grass fields, cycling visits to Hakone Shrine and Kuzuryu Shrine. We rode on Motomiya Ropeway, had a Japanese lunch at Yamano Hotel after checkout, followed by a leisurely time at a café. We fully enjoyed our trip to Hakone to its fullest extent. The accommodation was impeccably clean everywhere we went, making it comfortable throughout our stay. It’s an unforgettable experience that made us say “perfect” countless times from our hearts. We would love to visit again!

After 20 years, the bath was still great, and although meals were previously served in the Room, the food was excellent. The staff were all very pleasant. The garden remains as beautiful as it was 20 years ago. While I like the nostalgic feel of the building, a bit more renovation might be better.

It was a truly wonderful Ryokan with a nostalgic, traditional atmosphere while still feeling very clean. I especially recommend the private open-air bath in the guest room—it was incredibly relaxing. We had both breakfast and dinner, and they were excellent in both taste and portion size. Also, even though it was last-minute, I asked on the day for a surprise plate for my wife, and they kindly arranged it for us. I don’t usually return to the same place when traveling, but this is somewhere I’d like to visit again next year. Highly recommended.
