In-room dining and a private open-air bath in the Room made it a completely private space. The meals were delicious. This Accommodation was great for families with small children, as you can relax and enjoy your stay without worrying about others. It was a bit difficult to do makeup, so having a handheld mirror would be helpful.

Dear Kamon Team, To celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary, we stayed here for the first time, choosing your Accommodation based on Reviews around the Hakone area—and it turned into the best anniversary we could have hoped for. My wife and I are truly grateful. From check-in to check-out, we received impeccable hospitality in every way. Starting with the attendant whose wonderful smile looked after us, every member of staff was exactly as described in the Reviews—flawless in their manners and attentive to even the smallest details. The beautifully renewed design blending Japanese and Western styles was delightful, and everything throughout the Facility was thoroughly cleaned and well maintained, creating an exceptional sense of freshness and comfort. As lovers of traditional Ryokan stays, both my wife and I were completely satisfied. We were also impressed by the wide selection of stylish women’s yukata—and it felt almost too wonderful to receive a cute drawstring pouch filled with amenities as well. When we mentioned in advance that we were visiting for our anniversary, thoughtful touches awaited us at dinner: a framed red-and-white crane mizuhiki decoration, chopstick rests marked with celebratory characters, sekihan served in an adorable bowl with “good fortune” written on it—and even a commemorative gift of a ceramic tumbler set. The dinner course itself was outstanding: exquisite ingredients beautifully presented on elegant tableware, with staging that delighted all five senses. We could truly feel the aesthetic sense and craftsmanship of everyone in the kitchen team throughout. Of course, there was nothing to fault—the taste, portions, hot/cold balance, and perfectly timed serving and clearing were all impeccable. We have stayed at many luxury Ryokan and heritage Hotels every year for our anniversary, but there is no doubt that Kamon has become an unforgettable Accommodation for us. Even on our way home we couldn’t stop talking about your hospitality together. We would love to return again—thank you very much in advance when we do. We sincerely wish you continued prosperity going forward.

We stayed here during my 7th month of pregnancy for a maternity trip. It was our first time staying in Gora, and while choosing among the many Accommodations, we decided based on the availability of an in-room open-air bath, Reviews of the food, and the high level of service—and it was absolutely the right choice. Every dish was delicious, and from check-in to check-out we had a truly comfortable experience. It was our last trip as a couple before welcoming our baby, and it became a very memorable journey. My husband also said that although he has stayed at many Accommodations before, this one left a particularly strong impression and he was very satisfied. We would definitely like to stay again.

We stayed at “Iroukan” during the Obon holidays. Since we were traveling with our dog, we chose Iroukan based on Reviews while searching for a pet-friendly Accommodation. The hospitality exceeded our expectations—the warmth and smiles from every staff member were truly wonderful. Of course, the food was just as highly rated: incredibly delicious and very generous in portion size. From the moment we arrived at the Accommodation’s parking lot, the staff’s kindness and attentiveness stood out—helping with our luggage, welcoming us at the entrance, and even greeting us with a charmingly retro Showa-era style that surprised us in the best way. Everyone clearly loves dogs, and our dog also seemed completely at ease throughout our three-day stay. The Onsen was also fantastic, with free-flowing natural hot spring water and both indoor and open-air baths to enjoy. It’s hard to sum up in just a few words how memorable the service was—and even the head chef’s unique personality gave us a good laugh. The building has an old-fashioned feel that reflects its history, but it’s exactly what you’d hope for in a classic Ryokan—an excellent place where you can truly relax. There is so much more I’d love to share, but if you’re going to Izu, please stay at Iroukan at least once. It’s absolutely worth experiencing. If we have another chance, this is definitely an Accommodation we would love to stay at again.

From July 20, we stayed for two nights again. We traveled by train with two dogs. We’ve gotten completely used to it now, and that’s all thanks to the warmth and kindness of everyone at the Ryokan. I couldn’t make it without the Shuttle Service from the station. Thank you, as always, for your wonderful Shuttle Service. The meals reflected the season, and each dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. I rated the bath 4 stars because the stairs to and from the bath, and the airflow around that area, felt a bit uncomfortable for this time of year. The bath temperature was perfect for me. Thank you so much to all the staff for your kindness. We’ll be back again.

This was my first visit, and I was completely satisfied. While many places operate with a small team these days, I was surprised by how many staff members there were here. The Room I reserved was excellent—an in-room bath, a massage chair, and an unbeatable view. The three baths each had a different atmosphere, which I really enjoyed. The guests were calm and respectful, so I could relax and take my time. This has become an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

Meals were served in the Room, so we could relax and enjoy them without worrying about other dogs. The seasoning was excellent, and we were served freshly cooked rice—it was truly delicious. The amenities were well stocked, and we were happy that jinbei were provided instead of yukata. Every staff member was pleasant, and we had a wonderful vacation. We would definitely like to visit again.

Both the in-room meals and the Onsen enjoyed while gazing out at the sea felt truly extraordinary. We could also watch the fireworks festival from the Room window.

Not only are the Facilities outstanding, but the dining is also of an unparalleled, top-tier standard. We stayed at Fugaku Gunjo as a couple during a summer holiday we were able to take at short notice. Away from the bustle of everyday life, we were able to spend unhurried time together in a quiet setting. Even though it was a short stay, it felt deeply fulfilling. Although we were blessed with clear weather on the day of our stay, the typical summer haze meant we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly during the daytime. Then, around 6:00 the next morning, I happened to glance outside and there it was—Mt. Fuji standing out in crisp detail. Its powerful, beautiful summer presence—so different from its snow-capped 모습—left a lasting impression. Listening to cicadas, simply taking in the view and enjoying time doing nothing. Even moments when we would normally keep ourselves busy felt like a luxury here. It was an experience unique to Fugaku Gunjo, where only the sounds of nature blend into the stillness. The dining was also exceptional. The French kaiseki dinner showcased each ingredient with great care, and every course was a pleasure. Japanese and French elements came together naturally, creating refined dishes that remained enjoyable through to the end. Breakfast was equally memorable. The rice cooked in a traditional pot was truly delicious—we realized we had finished every last bite between us without even noticing. We also learned that some of their rice and vegetables are grown on their own farm, and we were impressed by how seriously this Accommodation values its ingredients from the very source. Not just presentation but attention to these details is what elevates the entire stay. What especially stayed with us this time was the hospitality of all staff members. From Shuttle Service to check-in and dining, everyone we met was friendly and welcoming with genuine smiles—and their sense of distance felt perfectly comfortable as well. Their warm hospitality never felt formal or scripted; it put us at ease again and again throughout our stay. Though it was only one night and two days, everything from arrival to departure felt consistently pleasant. Beyond the spectacular views, beautiful rooms, and wonderful food—from growing ingredients on their own farm to thoughtful attentiveness by staff—you can feel careful dedication throughout this Accommodation. Looking back on this trip, it feels less like “an Accommodation you stay at for sightseeing somewhere else,” and more like “a place you travel for in order to spend time here.” Next time, we’d love to visit in another season—and enjoy a trip where staying at Fugaku Gunjo itself is our main purpose once again as a couple.

We stayed here for a maternity trip and to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We were impressed by Atagawa’s charming entrance and the refined elegance of the interior. The hinoki indoor bath, stone open-air bath, and luxurious amenities such as Sekkisei and Acca Kappa made our stay feel truly indulgent. Walking through the quiet stone garden to the dining venue, “Donkon,” we found an atmosphere so sophisticated it would suit a stylish wedding ceremony. The cuisine was lavish and beautifully prepared, and we enjoyed every moment. Two things especially moved us during dinner. One was the proprietress’s warm personality—graceful yet friendly—and she kindly explained highlights of each dish. The other was their thoughtful accommodation for pregnancy. When making our Reservation, I didn’t request any changes, thinking it would be easier to have my husband eat anything I couldn’t. However, upon arrival, the staff proactively offered an alternative and changed my sashimi to miso-grilled spiny lobster. It was delicious, and we were deeply touched by their consideration. We would love to return once our baby is born.

We stayed in late August as a family of four (with a toddler and an infant). We have traveled to Izu many times and stayed at various Accommodations, but considering the price, this Accommodation was the best in Izu! Just as advertised, the entire building was tatami-matted—and we were surprised to find tatami even inside the bath area. Everything was spotless and very clean, and our children were happy to be able to walk around barefoot. The staff were also exceptionally courteous, and it was refreshing these days that everyone was Japanese. The food was delicious with a wide variety of dishes—we kept saying as a couple, “There’s more!?” From the Room we could see the ocean, and it’s also within walking distance. There is a foot-washing area and towels provided, so we were able to enjoy the sea both while staying in the Room and when going outside. It was a wonderful Accommodation we’d love to stay at again. We will definitely return!

Although this is a historic Onsen Ryokan, the property is impeccably maintained throughout, and we felt thoughtful attention to detail and quality in every corner. Our family of four enjoyed a truly wonderful stay with dinner and breakfast included. Above all, the Room was fantastic! It was very spacious, with plenty of room for each of us to relax comfortably, while also being perfect for gathering together as a family to chat and enjoy tea and sweets. The in-room beverages were also well stocked—the coffee and tea were excellent—and of course the private open-air bath in the guest room was amazing. We had both dinner and breakfast in a private dining room. The staff member who took care of us was highly professional and kind; everything from the timing of each course to the explanations of every dish and overall service was flawless, allowing us to enjoy our meals comfortably from start to finish. And finally, the greatest highlight here is definitely the Onsen! There are many different types of baths on site—so many that we seriously discussed “the best order” to try them all (laughs)! We were so busy enjoying the Onsen that we didn’t have time to relax with drinks in the lounge. That just gives us an excuse to come back. In short, our family of four thoroughly enjoyed this stay with dinner and breakfast included. The Room, cuisine, service, and Onsen—all exceeded our expectations. This Accommodation comes highly recommended for anyone who loves hot springs or wants a relaxing time at an Onsen Ryokan. We would love to stay again!

From the moment we boarded the elevator to the Ryokan from in front of Sounzan Station, it was an exciting experience. The Accommodation and all the staff welcomed us with a warm atmosphere, and everything—the Room, the carefully prepared meals, the Onsen, and the views—was wonderfully soothing. We were able to spend a slow, quiet, luxurious time. Thank you very much.

Perched on a hill near Kawana Station, this Accommodation has a wonderful sense of charm. Even though it is upscale, the attendants were warm and approachable, making our stay truly comfortable. The Onsen baths are available both indoors and outdoors, and we could enjoy them at the same time; the water quality was excellent. The kaiseki dinner was outstanding—as expected of a renowned Ryokan—and we enjoyed it so much that we even had the late-night snack. The peaceful atmosphere, with occasional birdsong, was so soothing that we didn’t want to leave. We will definitely return.

We had a very pleasant stay at this long-established Ryokan, with attentive service, carefully prepared dishes, spacious rooms, and tasteful furnishings that were elegant without being overdone. We especially loved the open-air bath with just the right temperature, set close to the mountains. We would definitely like to stay again.

I keep coming back again and again because I look forward to the meals. Every dish reflects the chef’s dedication—beautiful to look at, delicious to eat, truly outstanding. Both breakfast and dinner offer a wide variety of handmade dishes, all of them excellent. As there are stairs throughout the property, it may be difficult for elderly guests or anyone with mobility concerns.

This was our family’s third stay. Thank you again for taking such great care of us. As always, the property was very clean and we had a comfortable stay. We especially enjoyed the complimentary drink bar, which we could use freely; the selection changes between morning and evening, so there was plenty to choose from and we could relax and enjoy it. At dinner, we were surprised by how large the abalone was, and we truly enjoyed such a luxurious meal. Our whole family had a wonderful time again, and we were very satisfied. Everything—from the cuisine and the Onsen to the private dining room prepared for our meals—was wonderful, and we were able to truly relax from the bottom of our hearts. The food in particular was exceptional; each dish reflected careful craftsmanship, leaving us deeply satisfied. Above all, the Onsen was truly outstanding, and we enjoyed it three times during our stay. The water felt wonderfully gentle on the skin, bringing a soothing warmth that seemed to melt away tension from deep within. We were able to fully savor the blessings of Yugawara’s hot springs. This was my first stay, and I was very satisfied with both the large public bath and the breakfast. The Room didn’t feel cramped at all, and I was able to relax comfortably. Walking around town was fun, but it was hotter than expected, so I ended up drenched in sweat and completely exhausted. After rinsing off in the large public bath, I really didn’t feel like going back out, so the complimentary late-night soba service was truly appreciated. (The half-size portion was perfect as a light supper after eating out.) At breakfast, I loved being able to enjoy small portions of local specialties, and it felt like a great value. This is an Accommodation I would definitely like to stay at again.
