From the front desk with a panoramic view of Hakone’s great natural scenery to the Room with a private open-air bath, everything was excellent! The food was also very satisfying. The incense service and drink service were plentiful and much appreciated. The staff were very kind as well. We’ll be back!

The cuisine, Room, Onsen, and service were all excellent. It truly made us want to come back! At the end of our summer vacation, we made wonderful memories here and felt motivated to work hard again. We have stayed at other Accommodations in Ikaho several times, but Kogure is the best. Please continue your warm hospitality and bring comfort to many more guests.

The meals were luxurious and delicious, the Room was spotless, and the bath was wonderfully relaxing—there was nothing to complain about. The staff member in charge was very friendly and kind, so we felt completely at ease throughout our two-day stay. The massage was excellent as well; even though the weather wasn’t great, it didn’t bother us at all, and it turned into a truly satisfying trip. Thank you very much. We would love to visit again.

It was a pity that the entrance gate was still under construction, with cones and blue tarps scattered around (I understand that unexpected earthquakes and heavy rain can take up manpower). This time, the meals were upgraded and were a delight to both the eyes and the palate. For breakfast, I would have been even happier if there had been a choice of bread. I will visit again—thank you very much.

Although we arrived in rainy weather, we were warmly welcomed by many staff members, making for a wonderful start that almost felt more than we deserved. The building, designated as a Tangible Cultural Property, has a rich sense of history, yet it is meticulously maintained throughout, allowing us to relax in complete comfort. In addition to the pleasantly warm and soothing Onsen, the cuisine was truly outstanding. On departure, they even took a complimentary commemorative photo and later sent it to our home—such a thoughtful gesture that made this an unforgettable memory. Everything was exceptional, including the hospitality, and this is an Accommodation we would love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

After something great happened at work, I wanted to celebrate by relaxing on my own at an Accommodation with a view of Mt. Fuji, so I decided to stay solo. The staff assigned to my Room took wonderful care of me throughout my stay, the food was delicious, and I was able to spend a truly relaxing time. Mt. Fuji can be unpredictable and I could only see it in the early morning, but it was so beautiful that waking up at 5 a.m. didn’t feel like a burden at all. When I consulted in advance about wanting to celebrate and have cake, they arranged one from a nearby cake shop, and I was able to enjoy it in my Room together with champagne as a welcome drink. The head chef was also very thoughtful, which made me very happy. Adjusting the temperature of the Onsen in the Room was a bit tricky, but other than that there were no issues and I was completely satisfied. You can clearly see Mt. Fuji even from the Room—this Accommodation’s location is truly incredible.

This was our first stay as a couple with our dog. From the moment we arrived, the owner and all the staff welcomed us with thoughtful care and warm smiles, and any tension quickly melted away, leaving us feeling at ease and at home. We were soothed by the free-flowing natural hot spring Onsen in our room, and enjoyed the calm retro-modern atmosphere throughout the property that felt like stepping into an anime or fairy-tale world. While savoring outstanding, healthy, locally sourced cuisine, we could almost feel impurities gently leaving our bodies and energy returning. We were able to truly relax both body and mind. We will definitely be back.

On my first trip to Kusatsu Onsen, I stayed for two nights in the private open-air bath guest room “TAKASAGO.” Guest Room (TAKASAGO) The layout is wonderfully spacious, with the bedroom and tatami-style living area separated, creating a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Personally, I felt the room was a little dim due to limited natural light depending on its orientation, and I would have loved a larger sofa where you can really sink in rather than a low table—but overall it was an expansive, truly luxurious space. The tatami room with the low table faces a private garden and had a lovely sense of traditional charm. The maisonette-type rooms looked brighter and seemed to have more comfortable sofas as well, so I’d like to try one next time. Onsen Two different hot spring sources—Jizo Gensen and Bandai Kosen Gensen—are supplied here, making for an indulgent bathing experience. In addition to enjoying high-quality spring water anytime in the in-room open-air bath, the three private reservable baths each had their own distinct character and conveyed refined Japanese aesthetics. I thoroughly enjoyed soaking in Onsen throughout my stay. In particular, I loved “AWASE,” where three tubs are lined up from low to high temperature so you can experience a traditional bathing method—I went back again and again. Breakfast As dinner service was suspended during my stay, breakfast was the only meal offered—but its quality was outstanding, easily on par with dinner. I often stay at cuisine-focused Ryokan, and this was among the best I’ve experienced: creative composition of dishes, cooking that brought out the best of each ingredient, and thoughtful selection of tableware that elevated every course. Hospitality & Service The staff’s attentiveness and perfectly balanced approach—present when needed but never intrusive—left a strong impression and made my stay very comfortable. While there are a couple of minor preferences regarding the guest room setup, overall I was extremely satisfied with every aspect: Onsen, food quality (breakfast), and hospitality. I would absolutely love to return when visiting Kusatsu again.

We stayed here on a family trip with my parents. The Room was spacious and airy, and the greenery visible from the window was truly beautiful—so we were able to relax from the moment we arrived. This time we stayed in two Rooms, “Sono Ichi” and “Sono Yon,” and both had large baths and were wonderful spaces where we could unwind completely. The staff’s thoughtfulness also left a strong impression. They responded attentively whenever needed, while maintaining a comfortable sense of distance that never felt intrusive. They warmly celebrated my mother’s birthday, which made my parents very happy. They even sent a forgotten item to our home, and we remained grateful until the very end of our stay. The meals were unforgettable as well. The cutlet was light yet full of rich lean-meat flavor, and absolutely delicious. And the ayu sweetfish was so good that everyone in our family agreed it was the best ayu we had ever had. From the Room and bath to the food and hospitality, everything was flawless. Thank you for making our precious family trip even more special.

It was an extremely satisfying trip. The service was refined, courteous, and pleasantly discreet. In particular, the veteran staff member with sommelier credentials made superb selections of sake and wine, which made our meals and conversations all the more enjoyable. I stayed here with my parents and cousin. It was my first time in Kurokawa Onsen, and it’s a truly wonderful place. Among the many Accommodations, “Yamamizuki” was a Ryokan that left us extremely satisfied. [Setting & Baths] The rain we had been worried about never came, so we were able to relax and take our time. Since it was the perfect season, we were moved to be able to watch fireflies from the bath. I also recommend visiting in June. [Meals] Both the portion size and taste were ideal. Rather than the over-the-top extravagance that can be common at a Ryokan, the dishes felt genuinely “just right,” with thoughtful attention throughout. [Hospitality & Service] There seemed to be many international staff members, but their sincerity really came through, and their service was pleasant. With a comfortable sense of distance—not too close, not too far—the hospitality was also exactly “just right.” My parents and cousin were delighted as well, which I think says it all. I would love to stay again if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

We chose Horohoro Sanso in Kitayuzawa for our family of four for the first time in about 20 years! Before making a Reservation, I read Reviews on various sites, and as someone who loves food, I was especially drawn to posts about the meals. The building does show its age, but you can see many renovations throughout, and the Onsen in particular felt impressive and luxurious. Most importantly, the food was full of creative ideas—and the seasoning was far better than at some famous Hotels! From the DIY hot pot and mixed rice to salt-grilled char and individual buffet dishes… every item reflected great ideas and a chef’s confident touch, and we were truly satisfied. Even the small spices and original condiments served with each dish were delicious. As for the baths, one of the advantages of a smaller Hotel is that it never felt crowded no matter when we went in; we could relax without worrying about others in the ceramic-style bath, jacuzzi, and open-air bath. Our Room was spacious, with air conditioning and Wi-Fi provided, so it was very comfortable. Above all, all staff members were kind and helpful, including international staff who treated us with great care. There are many famous Onsen Hotels around Hokkaido where baths can be packed like sardines or meals look fancy but rely heavily on mass-produced ingredients; here at Horohoro Sanso, even if some items are frozen foods, they clearly add an extra touch to make everything taste great—something that speaks to the chefs’ skill and effort (my wife also praised it highly—she works with food every day). There’s so much more I could write, but what our whole family said together on the drive home was: “Let’s come back again!”

This was our first stay here on a trip with four friends. The Room, the meals, and above all the service from all staff were outstanding. Every staff member was courteous and kind, and we truly felt first-class hospitality—worthy of a five-star Accommodation. The clean and comfortable Room, the wide variety of delicious and thoughtfully prepared buffet dishes, and the wonderful Onsen—all exceeded our expectations. Everyone in our group was very satisfied with this trip. When we visit Kusatsu again, we would definitely like to stay at Hotel Ichii again.

I had long wanted to visit this Hotel, but it was a bit far and I rarely had the chance. This time, I was finally able to stay for two nights. The sky was cloudy and looked like it might rain, so I was a little worried about whether we could enjoy the view, but there was no need to worry at all. We were able to take in stunning scenery, and it was well worth the effort to make the trip. The meals and baths were excellent, and all of the staff were very pleasant, making our stay truly comfortable. It is a wonderful Hotel that makes me want to visit again.

We stayed with No Meals Included, but we were able to enjoy complimentary late-night ochazuke. The broth was rich and very delicious. There were three of us, and since the washing area for the private open-air bath was a separate shower booth, we ended up taking turns one by one. However, the Onsen itself and the mist shower were both very pleasant. Next time, we’d like to stay again with meals included!

The staff’s hospitality, attentive care down to the smallest details, delicious meals, and well-maintained Facility all made this an outstanding Ryokan with nothing to fault. The Onsen was wonderfully smooth, free-flowing from the source, and because the temperature is relatively low, you can enjoy bathing many times. We had a truly elegant stay. Highly recommended. Iya Bijin is an Accommodation famous for soba. I had carelessly forgotten this, and since my son has a severe buckwheat allergy, we made a last-minute request to remove all foods related to soba. During our stay, they took great care with the meals, and both dinner and breakfast were wonderful—such as ayu sashimi and dekomawashi—and my son ate so much it surprised even us. Of course, he had no allergic symptoms at all. Thank you very much.

We’d been looking forward to staying here because of its great reputation for food. Every dish was carefully prepared, and the homemade sweet bean paste in the dessert was lightly sweet and delicious. We wanted to eat it again, so we made a Reservation for November. At the large public bath “Kawa-no-Yu,” you can enjoy natural hot spring water while watching goldfish. There is also a private bath on the 3rd floor of the main building. You can also use the private baths at the annex Tamaya, making this Accommodation perfect for amazing food and Onsen!
