Even after setting the navigation system, the destination disappeared along the way. Feeling a bit uneasy, we followed the signboards and drove deeper into the mountains on narrow roads—then suddenly, there was the Accommodation entrance. The warm light that appeared in that moment was a real relief. The staff’s welcome and service were also very courteous. We headed straight to the private indoor bath in our Room. Just as I was about to soak in the retro-style tub that felt like an old hot-spring cure retreat, a large hornet—stuck and unable to get out through the window—greeted us first. We somehow dealt with it using the free-flowing natural hot spring water (quite hot). Once adjusted to just the right temperature, it felt amazing on the skin and was incredibly relaxing. When my wife took her turn, this time a rhinoceros beetle stopped by to say hello. Just as explained in advance by the Accommodation, we had a rare experience surrounded by rich nature. From the scenic open-air bath, we enjoyed views of mountains stretching out as if they were ours alone. The meals were also carefully prepared. We were able to spend a truly unhurried time here. Thank you very much.

I have visited Harvest in Old Karuizawa many times, but this was my first stay in Naka-Karuizawa. With the Hotel’s spacious, open interiors and a courtyard with wonderful views, I was able to enjoy a calm, luxurious time for adults while taking a stroll around the grounds. The “Tsumugi Course” dinner was not only delicious but also beautifully presented and a delight to the eyes. At the breakfast buffet, there was an “Autumn Vegetable Dashi Shabu-Shabu,” which was excellent. I also couldn’t resist the tasty multigrain rice porridge and the wide variety of breakfast breads and sweet buns—and ended up eating far too much. It was a wonderful Hotel that let me fully enjoy Karuizawa hotel life, like an adults-only hideaway. I would definitely like to stay again.

Thank you again for a wonderful stay. This was our first drive in our new car and also our first stay at Gora Kadan, but we were met with heavy rain. Even so, thanks to the warm welcome from all the staff, your help with loading and unloading our luggage, and your thoughtful care for my mother-in-law, all of our worries disappeared and we were able to enjoy a comfortable stay. The view from the Room was amazing—we could see the ski jump. It was forecast to rain from that day, but we had a brief spell of sunshine, which made us feel refreshed. There was an Onsen and an open-air bath as well, and it was very soothing. The meals were a real treat for vegetarians. It was a very relaxing one-night stay, and the Room was clean, but it was a bit disappointing that there is a step up to reach the toilet; at night, it felt like something elderly guests could easily trip over. Other than that, it was a Hotel we were fully satisfied with.

I had a very comfortable stay! There were a few minor housekeeping issues, but the Room and the Hotel overall were clean. I was very satisfied with the meals as well! I thought it might be nice to use even more of my favorite Nagano ingredients. I’d love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Since the full renovation, every facility has been spotless. I was satisfied with everything, but I was especially surprised at how spacious all four private baths were—and they were impeccably clean. The water was excellent, with no unpleasant chlorine smell overpowering the sulfur scent. The Nordic-style sauna was also very relaxing. The meals were delicious and just the right amount. This is a Ryokan I would definitely like to visit again.

I love Niigata in midwinter, but I also really enjoy Niigata in the season of wild mountain vegetables after the snow melts. In terms of Onsen Ryokan within the prefecture, I have previously stayed at Satoyama Jujo, HATAGO Issen, ryugon, Hinano Yado Chitose, and Rankei-so. Each Accommodation was unique and charming, and this time I was finally able to visit Shiki Yuzawa QUATTRO, which I had been curious about for a while. As you can probably tell from the above, we travel around various Accommodations because we like places with great food. From that perspective—this is how my spouse and I both felt—the breakfast side dishes were good, but not “exceptionally delicious.” As for the seaweed (“nori”), it had a color and taste we had never seen before, which made us wonder: had this processed product changed over time? Or is this its intended final form in terms of appearance and seasoning? It left us feeling a bit uneasy. Perhaps for guests who usually select ingredients carefully and cook at home on a regular basis, it may not be especially impressive. That said, we truly appreciate that they prepared such a large number of dishes at the in-room chair-and-table seating area and offered their very best hospitality. We felt they were doing everything they could to provide a comfortable stay despite limited staff and time. We would recommend it more to guests with a hearty appetite who have no concerns about their legs or knees. This is because getting into a bathtub without handrails can become difficult as you get older. Both the indoor bath and open-air bath in the room continuously supplied Onsen water, so we could soak at a comfortable temperature again the next morning. We also enjoyed relaxing on the second-floor terrace. Since this season is neither too hot nor too cold—and there are no bugs—why not plan a trip now? The room seemed renovated and was very clean, and there was also a hair straightener in addition to the hair dryer. We were satisfied with the amenities! Thank you to everyone for your kind assistance throughout our stay. The large public bath at Sakura-tei was also nearby, so getting there was easy.

We stayed for two nights from 7/18 (Sat) in a Japanese-Western Room with a large open-air bath. Just as advertised as “the largest in Hokuriku,” the open-air bath was spacious—a luxurious space where adults can fully stretch out their arms and legs. That said, it does require some consideration for women. Across the river is a long-established restaurant; during business hours their windows are left open, so you do feel conscious of being seen. About 30–50 cm around the tub has no screening at all, so I felt it would be helpful to have reed screens or bamboo blinds available so guests who are concerned can adjust them themselves. My husband didn’t mind at all and was completely satisfied—he still says it was the best open-air bath he’s ever had. Since there was no explanation on arrival, we weren’t sure at first, but we were amazed (and impressed) that we didn’t run into other guests in the elevator. The Room layout was extremely practical. Right next to the elevator is a walk-in closet with air conditioning, so you can hang clothes on one side and use the other side to dry wet towels and such. There is also a separate door and staircase used by attendants to bring in-room meals directly to the tatami living area without passing through. Because the living-room windows face near Korogi Bridge, people crossing the bridge could look down and make eye contact with us—shy guests might find this uncomfortable. About inside the Accommodation: there is a quiet, relaxing lounge on another floor. Each chair has great taste; I loved the design so much that I kept stopping by whenever I thought of it. There’s also a terrace overlooking the night sky and nature—it felt wonderfully open. The food was excellent—truly nothing to complain about. There were also hearty meat dishes that younger guests would enjoy; everything was delicious and we finished it all. In casual conversation with our attendant, we learned that the homemade desserts are made by the young proprietress herself. The melon bread panna cotta and strawberry mousse were incredibly good. They were so good that my plan to take leftovers from family members who don’t like sweets fell through (laugh). Overall, this Accommodation was perfect for resetting both body and mind. It was well worth driving eight hours each way in our own car. Thank you to my husband—and sincere thanks as well to everyone at Korogi-ro for your kindness and attentive service. Our attendant’s warm personality and gentle consideration were truly soothing. Even shop staff around Yamanaka Onsen town kindly spoke to us when we seemed lost. I stayed for one night with my sister. The Room was very clean and well maintained, easy to use, and we enjoyed the in-Room bath many times (we even did laundry!). We had our meals at a charming traditional house restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was delicious, right up to the final sushi! Thanks to the warm hospitality, we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. We also really enjoyed the snacks and gelato provided in the Room. We were blessed with great weather, making it a wonderful trip. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us—we will definitely be back!

This Hotel is very cozy and located in a quiet riverside area. It’s a short walk to the center of Jozankei, but it’s perfect for a post-meal stroll, and you can also enjoy the illuminated Toyohira River. The meals focus on quality over quantity; each dish made the most of its ingredients, and everything was delicious. The Onsen bathing area is on the smaller side, but since this Ryokan has only a few Rooms, it never felt crowded (weekday Monday stay during Obon week).

We stayed here the day after visiting Ikaho Onsen. When we arrived, a staff member was sprinkling water at the entrance, so we asked where to park. As we headed over, a cat unexpectedly guided us to the parking area—such a heartwarming welcome from the start. The Accommodation, the pleasantly warm Onsen, and the meals were all excellent. Another Accommodation we’d love to return to has been added to our list. Thank you very much.

We visited as three generations of our family. The children enjoyed the latter half of summer vacation with marshmallows by the campfire, badminton and fireworks in the garden, and the pool. It was also great for parents to have tasty water and coffee available self-service in the lobby. The buffet at this Accommodation was thoughtfully varied, so the children never got bored and were very satisfied. The tempura and roast beef at dinner, as well as fried bread and banana milk at breakfast, were all delicious. The staff were also very pleasant. This is an Accommodation we would like to visit again.

We stayed here for our elementary school-aged daughter’s birthday trip. She requested a buffet, so we looked for a place with a menu that both kids and adults could enjoy, and this is where we ended up. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes featuring local ingredients, and we were very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. Not only that, but check-in and check-out were smooth, the welcome service was excellent, and the playroom—clean and well stocked with plenty of activities—was always lively with guests. The Onsen was slightly lukewarm, which was perfect for our family since we don’t like very hot baths. The staff kept a comfortable distance; there wasn’t much small talk, but whenever we asked something they responded very politely, which made our stay pleasant. The next day we took a walk through Sosenkyo Gorge right in front of the hotel. It was easy to access, and we were able to enjoy ourselves even after checking out. Thank you very much. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be that the parking lot felt small for how busy it gets; when larger cars line up, getting in and out can be difficult. It would be even more comfortable if it could be expanded or improved.

We stayed as a two-generation family of four. Since my mother has difficulty walking and a barrier-free Room happened to be available, we chose this Room. It was very convenient, on the same floor as the lobby lounge. The Room was furnished as shown in the photos, but some pieces felt a bit in the way for moving around. The toilet door was heavy, and for an in-room toilet it felt oddly like a hospital-style door. There was also a large mirror directly in front of it; the placement wasn’t great because it was on the wall by the toilet and could be seen from the sofa while resting, which I didn’t like. The Room itself is very spacious, which is great. You can step out onto the balcony through the bay window and enjoy fresh forest air, which felt wonderful. The view wasn’t great since we were on the 3rd floor, but in return, the view from the 6th-floor bath area was unbelievably beautiful—something I’d never seen before—and I highly recommend using the baths. The food offered many dishes, and because the lobby area is spacious, getting around during meals was smooth—it really felt like being at a resort. Drink servers were set up so you could get beverages in various areas, and overall service was excellent. We could feel thoughtful service at every moment and truly enjoyed all-inclusive stay. For activities, there seem to be table tennis, karaoke, tennis, etc. Overall, it felt like most guests were Japanese.

Although the weather was fine down below, up in the mountains it was foggy and rainy, so unfortunately even after taking the ropeway it was a completely white world. The open-air bath at the mountain Hotel was great. I was especially lucky to see Mt. Yari appear above the clouds from the mixed-gender open-air bath where you wear a bathing garment. Next time, I plan to come in October to observe the starry sky.

I was extremely satisfied with this wonderful Hotel. The Room, bath, view, and food were all outstanding! Without a doubt, it’s the best Hotel or Ryokan I’ve ever stayed at. It’s quiet, and the adults-only environment is excellent. We also enjoyed the lovely bar—it felt like a waste to leave after just one night. Next time, we’ll come to Hokkaido just to stay here!

It was our first time visiting Oigami Onsen, and the three of us stayed here with my elderly mother. This Accommodation is the only one set on such spacious grounds, and it was obvious at a glance how different it is from the others. Dinner was thoughtfully prepared, and the Joshu beef steak in particular was tender and delicious. The only slight disappointment was that the souvenir shop inside didn’t have much variety, so there wasn’t anything I wanted to buy. I would have appreciated a wider selection of food items. I also became curious about Senkyo’s history and ended up looking it up. Thank you very much for taking care of us.
