Free drink bar (including alcohol), plus post-bath ice bars and probiotic drinks, and manga. Amazing! The bath water quality is great, and the rooms are clean. An Onsen stream runs alongside the Hotel and is beautifully illuminated. Dinner was a buffet, and they even had meaty snow crab. I couldn’t help but overeat. A highly recommended Accommodation.

There were thoughtful touches throughout, such as a basket for carrying towels and a change of clothes to the bath, and tabi socks provided for use inside the property. The food was also delicious.

This was my second visit. I felt the meals were even more satisfying than last time. When I asked, I was told that the proprietress herself stands at the pantry. Her heartfelt hospitality truly came through. I enjoyed the lovely flowers in the room, as well as the charming children’s drawings displayed throughout. As I was drawing water outside before leaving, they kindly filled my brought-in plastic bottles at the sink—so much heavy water to carry. They also showed me a back route to Norikura Eco Line, an exciting road. Thank you for everything. The milky-white hot spring water was wonderfully fragrant; its scent lingered for quite a while. Hoping to return again, and wishing everyone happiness.

We chose Horohoro Sanso in Kitayuzawa for our family of four for the first time in about 20 years! Before making a Reservation, I read Reviews on various sites, and as someone who loves food, I was especially drawn to posts about the meals. The building does show its age, but you can see many renovations throughout, and the Onsen in particular felt impressive and luxurious. Most importantly, the food was full of creative ideas—and the seasoning was far better than at some famous Hotels! From the DIY hot pot and mixed rice to salt-grilled char and individual buffet dishes… every item reflected great ideas and a chef’s confident touch, and we were truly satisfied. Even the small spices and original condiments served with each dish were delicious. As for the baths, one of the advantages of a smaller Hotel is that it never felt crowded no matter when we went in; we could relax without worrying about others in the ceramic-style bath, jacuzzi, and open-air bath. Our Room was spacious, with air conditioning and Wi-Fi provided, so it was very comfortable. Above all, all staff members were kind and helpful, including international staff who treated us with great care. There are many famous Onsen Hotels around Hokkaido where baths can be packed like sardines or meals look fancy but rely heavily on mass-produced ingredients; here at Horohoro Sanso, even if some items are frozen foods, they clearly add an extra touch to make everything taste great—something that speaks to the chefs’ skill and effort (my wife also praised it highly—she works with food every day). There’s so much more I could write, but what our whole family said together on the drive home was: “Let’s come back again!”

During my four-night trip to Hokkaido, this was the most satisfying of the four places I stayed. I booked the Canyon Suite. Since it was called a suite but wasn’t particularly expensive, I didn’t expect much—but I was amazed as soon as I walked in. First, the beautiful gorge view through the large windows. Then, the spacious room and tasteful furnishings. I immediately regretted staying only one night. The food was also excellent: it’s buffet-style, but every dish had a thoughtful twist, and the quality stood out far above other hotels. The staff weren’t “polished hotel professionals” so much as genuinely warm and kind, which made me feel very comfortable. It’s a place I truly want to return to for the first time in a while.

Surrounded by mountains, this Hotel is quiet and offers a relaxing, unhurried stay. At the front desk, you can borrow items such as soccer balls and badminton equipment. In summer, the indoor pool is also available, making it a comfortable choice for families with children to enjoy with peace of mind. The buffet felt slightly limited in variety, but everything tasted great and I went back for seconds several times. Depending on the season, there are also dishes featuring crab or abalone, giving the impression that guests of all ages can enjoy it. One small point to note is the shop: while there is a wide selection of souvenirs, there are fewer options for snacks and alcohol. You may want to buy those in advance at a convenience store or supermarket on the way. Also, because the building uses centralized air conditioning, there are no individual air conditioners in each Room. If you are sensitive to temperature changes, bringing lighter or warmer clothing may help you stay more comfortable.

I found Sugatani Onsen while looking for an Accommodation where I could stay with my pet, without knowing the name beforehand. It was very comfortable. I brought pet pads, but if possible, I would like you to provide some spares. There is no need to lay out the futon during meals; I worry my dog might bark, so it makes me more concerned. The air conditioner noise felt a little loud. The meals were very delicious. It is a quiet location away from the crowds.

This was a highly satisfying Hotel stay from check-in to check-out. What surprised me most was the wide variety of drinks and ice cream available in the complimentary area. Guests can enjoy unlimited drinks, from alcohol to soft drinks, and I also loved making my own ice cream—it was a lot of fun. The staff kindly guided me through the Room and breakfast information at check-in, and they responded quickly to an unexpected situation during my stay. Breakfast arrived at my Room right on time and was wonderfully warm and delicious. I truly feel this was the best Hotel I have ever stayed at. Next time, I’d like to stay in a different Room and discover something new! Thank you very much!

I realized I had an extra day off during my trip and made a same-day reservation. Even though it was last-minute, you kindly accommodated me. I had long wanted to stay here after seeing the Auberge Association website, and I’m truly glad I did. I’ve visited many different types of auberges, but the food here was beyond what can be described as simply “delicious”—I was extremely satisfied. The homemade ham and sausages were so good they practically melted in my mouth. The room was calm and comfortable, and I was able to rest well. Next time, I’d like to try the open-air bath as well. I was completely satisfied—thank you very much.

While looking for an Accommodation where we could stay with our dog, we discovered “Wa no Ie” and stayed there as a family. It’s surprisingly easy to find pet-friendly Hotels, but since we were going to Karuizawa, we wanted a place that truly felt luxurious and where we could enjoy time with our pet both indoors and outdoors. That’s when we found Wa no Ie—an outstanding piece of architecture surrounded by nature—and after seeing the photos, we decided almost immediately. When we arrived, the harmony between the building and the natural surroundings was even more beautiful than in the pictures. The greenery visible through the windows and the way light streamed in made it an incredibly comfortable space. Because we were traveling with a child and a dog, our only concern was the number of stairs. However, before our stay they had already set up baby gates for us, so both our child and dog could relax safely without any worry of falling. We really appreciated this thoughtful attention to detail. The interior was spotless, and the area around it was truly quiet. Away from the bustle of town, it felt like we were the only ones in the forest—something I personally loved. In the morning, I woke up naturally with sunlight and found myself thinking, “How long has it been since I last woke up like this?” My wife and child baked sweets and played games while our dog lounged with us—it was a place where you end up wanting to enjoy simply spending time there rather than going out sightseeing. If possible, I honestly wished we could have stayed for several more days—living there while working remotely. A private rental that offers nature, luxury, and an environment where you can stay comfortably with your pet is hard to find. We would absolutely love to stay here again whenever we visit Karuizawa. This was my first time staying at this Ryokan, and I loved the atmosphere and the view from the Room. The staff were wonderful, and the hostess’s hospitality was especially impressive. Every dish was delicious; my favorite was the clear soup, which I would love to enjoy again if I have the chance.

I stayed here with my elderly parents. All of the staff were very pleasant and welcoming, and we were able to spend our time feeling relaxed and at ease. The Onsen was beautifully decorated with umbrellas, and we enjoyed bathing there many times. The freshly made breakfast pancakes were delicious. However, some guests seemed unsure how to use the setup and gave up, which was a bit disappointing. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

I have stayed here before. The Accommodation, Onsen, and other Facilities are clean, and it is conveniently located near the main road.

We visited as three generations. The Facility, baths, and meals were all very satisfying, and it became a wonderful memory. Thank you to the staff member who took a photo for us as we were leaving on a busy morning. We look forward to enjoying the many autumn maple leaves. We will visit again.

Whenever we visited Oku-Nikko and Yumoto, we would stop by Senjogahara or the ranch, and this Accommodation had always caught our eye. After turning 60, my spouse and I stayed here for the first time. The Onsen and the breakfast and dinner were wonderful, and it was a relaxing summer holiday to see many couples around our age dining in the restaurant. After ringing a bear bell and walking around Senjogahara for over an hour, we headed to Nikko Toshogu Shrine!

Our first trip to Shimane and Tottori as a couple. It was also our first time at Misasa Onsen. And our first stay at Ryokan Ohashi. Throughout our stay, we were able to relax at a leisurely pace, and it has become an Accommodation we definitely want to visit again. The service was flawless, and since there happened to be few guests staying that day, we felt lucky to have the chance to chat and learn more about the place. The meals were also impeccable—abalone, Wagyu beef, a wide variety of dishes, and above all, you could really feel their commitment to quality ingredients. That alone would have been more than enough, but the Onsen was on another level: the rock baths (Upper Bath, Middle Bath, Lower Bath), the open-air bath on the opposite side—this radium spring truly warms you through and through and feels effective for therapeutic bathing as well. We were told that crab dishes in the colder season paired with this radium spring are even more highly recommended, so we’re already looking forward to it.

From the warm welcome to the meals and the open-air bath in the guest room, every aspect of the service was fully satisfying. Perhaps because it was raining, there were fewer insects as well.

The complimentary drinks in the lobby lounge, the Room, the Onsen, the parking service, and access to the shopping mall were all excellent.
