Although it’s a secluded Accommodation deep in the mountains, it’s relatively easy to access by car and not difficult to reach. The Accommodation features classic, traditional Japanese architecture, yet it feels clean and has been thoughtfully renovated for comfort and ease of use. It was clear how much care goes into its upkeep, which I truly admire. The surrounding nature is lush, and the greenery and gentle sound of the river are very soothing. That said, the bedding mattress felt a bit firm for me personally, which was a small minus point (I didn’t wake up sore the next morning, so this is purely my personal impression). The hot spring source is around 37°C and lukewarm, but there are also heated baths, so it wasn’t an issue. If I had one wish: since I’m not fond of lukewarm water, I would have liked the heated tub to be larger. Meals were mainly simple countryside dishes, but everything was very delicious. Younger guests might find it a little light; in that case, I recommend ordering additional dishes. For us it was just the right amount—and we could get refills of rice—so we were very satisfied. Many of the staff were young, but they were always smiling and pleasant, with excellent attentiveness and consideration. This is an outstanding Accommodation that makes Japanese guests feel at ease—I hope it never changes. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Thank you very much for such a wonderful stay. At check-in, the front desk staff kindly and thoroughly explained the in-house Facilities and services, which allowed us to start our stay with complete peace of mind. My wife has a shellfish allergy, and we are truly grateful that the restaurant’s head chef thoughtfully adjusted the menu for us. In particular, dinner on the second night was even more outstanding than the first, and we were deeply moved by the extra care put into each dish. While we were taking photos inside the property, a seasoned and very kind staff member noticed us and spoke to us. They gladly took photos for us, thanks to which we were able to keep wonderful memories of our trip. We are foreigners and can hardly speak Japanese. Even so, throughout our stay we received warm, attentive service that made us forget any language barrier. This stay reminded me once again of what I felt when I first visited a Japanese Ryokan years ago: uniquely Japanese hospitality that truly cherishes travelers and makes them feel as safe and comfortable as if they were at home. It is truly an excellent Ryokan. We sincerely appreciate the heartfelt hospitality of all the staff. We would definitely love to visit again. Thank you again for such a wonderful time.

Dear Kamon Team, To celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary, we stayed here for the first time, choosing your Accommodation based on Reviews around the Hakone area—and it turned into the best anniversary we could have hoped for. My wife and I are truly grateful. From check-in to check-out, we received impeccable hospitality in every way. Starting with the attendant whose wonderful smile looked after us, every member of staff was exactly as described in the Reviews—flawless in their manners and attentive to even the smallest details. The beautifully renewed design blending Japanese and Western styles was delightful, and everything throughout the Facility was thoroughly cleaned and well maintained, creating an exceptional sense of freshness and comfort. As lovers of traditional Ryokan stays, both my wife and I were completely satisfied. We were also impressed by the wide selection of stylish women’s yukata—and it felt almost too wonderful to receive a cute drawstring pouch filled with amenities as well. When we mentioned in advance that we were visiting for our anniversary, thoughtful touches awaited us at dinner: a framed red-and-white crane mizuhiki decoration, chopstick rests marked with celebratory characters, sekihan served in an adorable bowl with “good fortune” written on it—and even a commemorative gift of a ceramic tumbler set. The dinner course itself was outstanding: exquisite ingredients beautifully presented on elegant tableware, with staging that delighted all five senses. We could truly feel the aesthetic sense and craftsmanship of everyone in the kitchen team throughout. Of course, there was nothing to fault—the taste, portions, hot/cold balance, and perfectly timed serving and clearing were all impeccable. We have stayed at many luxury Ryokan and heritage Hotels every year for our anniversary, but there is no doubt that Kamon has become an unforgettable Accommodation for us. Even on our way home we couldn’t stop talking about your hospitality together. We would love to return again—thank you very much in advance when we do. After five years, we finally had the chance to stay at Otogi no Yado Komeya. Over the past five years, we made several Reservations but had to Cancel the Reservation due to circumstances. This time, determined to make it happen, we went on a summer Onsen trip. The Room, hospitality, and cuisine were all outstanding. The free-flowing Onsen in particular felt like a high-quality lotion. We left feeling refreshed in both body and mind. This is our number-one Accommodation that we would love to visit again. Thank you for taking such great care of us.

We stay here mainly for Arashi no Yu, and every time it’s one moving experience after another—thank you again for this visit. The table tennis & darts Room was a hidden gem, and the kids were thrilled! If I had one request, it would be to have some board games the kids can enjoy (even something like UNO) in the table tennis Room or at the front desk—then children wouldn’t get bored even during a Multiple Night Stay. In any case, thank you as always for another wonderful experience.

This luxury Japanese-style Ryokan with views of Mt. Fuji offered exceptional service. The view from the Room was stunning, and the windows were polished to a shine, which showed true hospitality. Both the in-room bath and the large public bath were comfortable and deeply relaxing. The meals were also delicious. The attentive service made our children happy as well. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

Each villa has its own indoor bath and open-air Onsen, so even elderly guests were able to relax and enjoy it at their own pace. The Room was very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. The garden and reflecting pool were also beautifully maintained and a pleasure to look at. The meals were excellent in both ingredients and preparation, and everything was delicious. The dashi was rich in flavor, and we were truly impressed by the chef’s careful work. The staff welcomed us with wonderful smiles and kindly assisted our elderly guest with luggage, meal service, and more. We felt refreshed both physically and mentally. Thank you very much. We stayed with my parents and husband—four adults in total. There was a complimentary alcohol service available until 10:00 p.m. (there was even beer in the Room refrigerator!), and the all-inclusive drinks with meals included a great selection of alcohol. We could even enjoy sparkling wine at breakfast—perfect for my father and me, as we both love drinks. Every summer, we stay one night at an Accommodation in Fukushima to coincide with my mother’s visit home, and my father really loved this place, saying, “Let’s stay here again next time—let’s make it our regular.” From the bath to the lobby to the Room, everything about the interior design and use of space was wonderful no matter where you looked. The staff were also warm and welcoming while still polished and professional. It was our first trip gifting my parents a stay, so it became a truly memorable experience for us. Thank you very much.

This was a wonderful Accommodation that made my first trip to Niigata truly special. While the building and furnishings showed their age, there were programs where we could enjoy local culture, such as shamisen performances and readings about the snow country, and thoughtful amenities like sake lees face packs, Japanese sake, and coffee, making it an Accommodation where we could fully enjoy Yuzawa. All of the staff, as well as the shamisen instructor, were outstanding. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

We chose this Accommodation with a private open-air bath fed directly from the hot spring source to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary and to rest after a fracture. A place we usually consider beyond our reach—but this time we decided to splurge. We were absolutely delighted! The cuisine was delicious and beautifully presented in elaborate dishware, with an impressive variety. One highlight was a whole deep-fried rockfish served with sweet-and-sour sauce—so tender we could even eat the bones. We enjoyed not only dessert after the meal but also my favorite coffee as well. We are truly grateful for the thoughtful celebration of our golden wedding anniversary. The bath was also wonderful: a spacious, free-flowing hot spring available 24 hours a day. Even when we felt sleepy, having it attached to our Room meant we could step in right away—completely satisfying. All the staff were genuinely kind: the Shuttle Service (with such attentive care), the cheerful guidance, and the meal service (their movements felt like a true calling—thoughtful attention and pleasant conversation), as well as everything related to the food. We were so happy to be able to relax at length. We hope to work hard so that we can come again.

We stayed here during my 7th month of pregnancy for a maternity trip. It was our first time staying in Gora, and while choosing among the many Accommodations, we decided based on the availability of an in-room open-air bath, Reviews of the food, and the high level of service—and it was absolutely the right choice. Every dish was delicious, and from check-in to check-out we had a truly comfortable experience. It was our last trip as a couple before welcoming our baby, and it became a very memorable journey. My husband also said that although he has stayed at many Accommodations before, this one left a particularly strong impression and he was very satisfied. We would definitely like to stay again.

I stayed for one night and two days. Rooms & Amenities → The in-room open-air bath was clean and very relaxing. Hospitality & Service → I was warmly welcomed from check-in, and the staff responded pleasantly whenever I needed anything, which made me very happy. Onsen Baths → The large public bath was spacious, and the outdoor open-air bath area was also clean. I also appreciated the service of having drinks and towels available in front of the sauna room. Dining → I only had breakfast, but it was delicious.

This was my second stay—last time with my family, and this time with my mother and siblings. The ocean is right in front of you, the Room is spacious, and the hot spring source is just behind the property. The number of dishes, the staff’s service, and everything about the Onsen—its quality, cleanliness, and variety—are all just right. It’s a truly wonderful Accommodation. It seems like New Year’s holidays are decided by lottery, but I’m hoping we get selected.

This was my second stay. It is close to the station, and both the Room (and the entire property) were very clean, making for a comfortable stay. The castle was illuminated, and I could see it from the Room the whole time. I will definitely stay again.

I seem to have booked an accessible room without realizing it, and was shown to a first-floor guest room. The in-room bathroom was an impressive stone design with great attention to detail, and the tub had plenty of continuously flowing water. The stone flooring was also slip-resistant, which felt reassuring. The clear Onsen water was silky-smooth—an excellent bath overall. That said, because the first-floor room is almost level with the embankment, bamboo grass has been planted for privacy and the room felt a bit dark, which was disappointing. With the special blinds set at just the right angle, views from outside are well blocked. Whether it was the mattress or something else, I slept very soundly. The large public baths are on the 3rd floor (women), 2nd floor (men), plus there are additional baths in the basement including a granite bath and an open-air rock bath. It’s fun to enjoy a variety of baths around the Accommodation from morning onward, and my companion was very satisfied as well and seemed refreshed. There are stairs to reach some of the basement baths and the open-air rock bath, so even younger guests should take care. Dinner featured local specialties such as salt-grilled ayu sweetfish, followed by more unpretentious yet delicious dishes—overall a very positive impression. Breakfast was also served seated in private or semi-private rooms, so we could enjoy it calmly. After flood damage, tasteful renovations have been done throughout; starting with the lobby, everything felt comfortable overall. However, since it isn’t newly built, there were slight slopes here and there in places like corridors. Being along the riverbank also means small insects can’t be completely avoided in summer. A Facility where you can feel the atmosphere of a classic Onsen inn. If I have another chance, I’d like to stay in a guest room on either the 2nd or 3rd floor.

This was my first stay here. The staff’s hospitality and attentiveness, the well-kept garden, the delicious meals, the atmosphere of the open-air bath, and even the adorable cats made it truly special. Everything was outstanding. I would love to visit again.

I loved everything—the location of the Accommodation, the beautiful and calming interior, the spacious and impeccably clean Room with a semi-open-air bath, and the lush Japanese-style garden full of greenery. We chose the “Izu Seasonal Kaiseki” Plan, and both dinner and breakfast were outstanding in quality and generous in portion size. The free-flowing Onsen water could be enjoyed at our leisure in the private open-air bath, the large public bath, and in our Room. The Onsen water—said to be 120°C just five minutes earlier—was carefully temperature-controlled so it reached the tub at a perfect temperature: neither too hot nor too lukewarm. I also appreciated the thoughtful services such as matcha tea and traditional sweets at check-in, a pot of iced water delivered to the Room during dinner, and sherbet or coffee served in the lobby after bathing—but above all, what impressed me most was the attentive hospitality of every staff member. With unstable weather and days of rain leading up to our stay—and rain forecast for our dates—I was worried at first. Fortunately, we had good weather for both days we were there, and staying at such a wonderful Accommodation with such high service standards made this trip truly relaxing. Thank you very much. Of course I would love to return here again, and I also feel like visiting “Izu Kawazu-hama Isoaruki no Yuyado Shiogumo” and “Omuro no Mori Gyokusui.”

I stayed here again for the first time in five years. The food and service felt much improved, which was a pleasant surprise. For example, the rice at breakfast was excellent—among the best I’ve had in Yamagata. I also enjoyed chatting with the staff and had a great time. I’d like to visit again soon.

After watching your YouTube video, we thought it looked wonderful and made a Reservation. Even though it was the peak summer holiday season, we were incredibly lucky to secure a Room. As expected, there were many families and large groups, but thanks to the staff’s quick and well-organized coordination, there were no bottlenecks and my spouse and I truly enjoyed our stay. The baths were amazing, with so many excellent tubs to choose from. I especially soaked often in hopes of easing my chronic lower back pain and nerve pain. Shimobe Onsen has helped improve the numbness in my right hand and nerve pain in the past, so I feel deeply grateful for it. We would definitely like to come again for therapeutic bathing. Next time, we would love to stay in a suite Room with a private open-air Onsen bath.

Thank you for your thoughtful emails even before our stay. On the day, our flight was suddenly canceled and we had to take the ferry, but you quickly adjusted the rental car arrangements. The food was cooked right in front of us, and both the taste and portions were excellent; the drinks were delicious too. The hot spring water quality was great, and we were able to truly relax in both body and mind. Everything was perfect!
