A luxurious Facility where extraordinary koi swim. We were able to enjoy a sand bath, a ceramic bath experience, and a private open-air bath at no additional charge. All staff were kind and provided attentive service. The Japanese cuisine served at the Yakusugi cedar counter was exquisite, with tropical fruits used throughout that were as beautiful to look at as they were delicious. The entire property was spotless and impeccably maintained, and the star-filled sky we gazed at late at night from the free-flowing natural hot spring open-air bath in our room was beyond words.

I had always thought that if I were to stay in Hakone, it would be at Suishoen, and my wish finally came true—I was able to visit at last! It was exactly the Accommodation I had imagined, and I could truly feel the high quality in every aspect, making for a very fulfilling stay. I was especially looking forward to the meals—not only were they delicious, but they were also a feast for the eyes. Both dinner and breakfast were wonderful. That said, the corn rice at dinner felt a bit overdone; I think simple corn would have been enough. The Room was more spacious than I expected and very relaxing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the bath with a footbath feature. Above all, the staff’s thoughtful hospitality was outstanding—this was an Accommodation where I felt truly comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed the heartfelt cuisine at both dinner and breakfast. From the ingredients and preparation to the tableware, service, and explanations of each dish, every aspect of the dining experience was highly satisfying. Including the Onsen, our Room, and the attentive hospitality of all staff members, everything from check-in to check-out fully matched what my spouse and I expect from an Onsen Ryokan, making our stay truly comfortable. We would like to express our gratitude and respect for providing such wonderful service. We hope to stay with you again.

Over the past few years, this Accommodation has become a place our family wants to visit at least once a year, and both kids and adults are always completely satisfied. This summer vacation we weren’t planning a trip to the Izu area, so we thought a summer stay might not be possible—but when we learned about the summer vacation discount offer, we knew we had to go and made a last-minute Reservation. With prices rising everywhere, we truly appreciate this thoughtful gesture from the Facility. As always, every staff member—from arrival to departure—shows wonderful hospitality that makes for a genuinely relaxing stay. The Facility is also very clean. The summer vacation pop-up stalls were unexpectedly enjoyed more by the adults than the kids; it was fun seeing everyone feel like children again. It was disappointing that we couldn’t play tennis due to construction on the tennis courts, but there were so many enjoyable activities that we barely had enough time. We also love the surrounding satoyama countryside nature, so next time we’d like to stay in spring.

I have stayed here several times, and everything was wonderful again this time. I accidentally left something behind when checking out, but the staff noticed it and it was a great help. Thank you for everything. This is the Accommodation I always recommend whenever friends ask for a place to stay. I will be back again.

During our stay at Hanaogi, we loved the pleasant atmosphere throughout the Accommodation, and above all, we were touched by the warm hospitality of every staff member, which allowed us to spend a truly relaxing time. The Onsen was wonderfully soothing—both the open-air bath in our Room and the large public bath helped us unwind completely. The cuisine also captured a strong sense of seasonality, with excellent overall balance in both pacing and course order, bringing out the natural flavors of each ingredient—it was outstanding. To everyone at Hanaogi, thank you for creating such wonderful memories. We would love to visit again.

We’ve stayed several times, so both my wife and I can relax with peace of mind—this is our favorite hot spring Accommodation. The family staying with us was also very satisfied, making it the perfect vacation. Since one of our group had difficulty walking, we truly appreciate you accommodating our various requests. After something great happened at work, I wanted to celebrate by relaxing on my own at an Accommodation with a view of Mt. Fuji, so I decided to stay solo. The staff assigned to my Room took wonderful care of me throughout my stay, the food was delicious, and I was able to spend a truly relaxing time. Mt. Fuji can be unpredictable and I could only see it in the early morning, but it was so beautiful that waking up at 5 a.m. didn’t feel like a burden at all. When I consulted in advance about wanting to celebrate and have cake, they arranged one from a nearby cake shop, and I was able to enjoy it in my Room together with champagne as a welcome drink. The head chef was also very thoughtful, which made me very happy. Adjusting the temperature of the Onsen in the Room was a bit tricky, but other than that there were no issues and I was completely satisfied. You can clearly see Mt. Fuji even from the Room—this Accommodation’s location is truly incredible.

This was my first stay. Both dinner and breakfast offered a great variety of high-quality ingredients, and we also enjoyed a late-night snack, so we were truly very satisfied. I would definitely like to visit again.

It was an extremely satisfying trip. The service was refined, courteous, and pleasantly discreet. In particular, the veteran staff member with sommelier credentials made superb selections of sake and wine, which made our meals and conversations all the more enjoyable. The plaster walls in the room created a comfortable atmosphere that felt truly soothing. We would love to return again. Thank you very much.

We stayed during Silver Week. There were lots of dinosaurs everywhere as part of a collaboration, and even though it was a trip for three adults, it was exciting. The baths were great. It was a shame we couldn’t use the open-air bath in the morning, but we still enjoyed the baths three times in total. Dinner was delicious across the board. For breakfast, there was something like a half-buffet where you could freely take bread, salad, and more, and we ended up eating too much. The Room was clean, and this is an Accommodation I would recommend. It was a Japanese-style room with beds, and even with three people they prepared a bed for the third person instead of futon bedding, which was appreciated. We also visited nearby Unzen Jigoku; it was spectacular. This may not be related to the Accommodation, but we were surprised it’s free to enter. It must cost money to maintain and manage it, but it’s so spacious and well maintained that I think it would be fine even if there were an admission fee.

We chose Horohoro Sanso in Kitayuzawa for our family of four for the first time in about 20 years! Before making a Reservation, I read Reviews on various sites, and as someone who loves food, I was especially drawn to posts about the meals. The building does show its age, but you can see many renovations throughout, and the Onsen in particular felt impressive and luxurious. Most importantly, the food was full of creative ideas—and the seasoning was far better than at some famous Hotels! From the DIY hot pot and mixed rice to salt-grilled char and individual buffet dishes… every item reflected great ideas and a chef’s confident touch, and we were truly satisfied. Even the small spices and original condiments served with each dish were delicious. As for the baths, one of the advantages of a smaller Hotel is that it never felt crowded no matter when we went in; we could relax without worrying about others in the ceramic-style bath, jacuzzi, and open-air bath. Our Room was spacious, with air conditioning and Wi-Fi provided, so it was very comfortable. Above all, all staff members were kind and helpful, including international staff who treated us with great care. There are many famous Onsen Hotels around Hokkaido where baths can be packed like sardines or meals look fancy but rely heavily on mass-produced ingredients; here at Horohoro Sanso, even if some items are frozen foods, they clearly add an extra touch to make everything taste great—something that speaks to the chefs’ skill and effort (my wife also praised it highly—she works with food every day). There’s so much more I could write, but what our whole family said together on the drive home was: “Let’s come back again!”

We stayed in the Kozu Room. The Room was spacious and comfortable. Although the facilities are mostly shared with Kowakien, they are clearly separated in various ways, which was great. The meals were delicious and more than we could finish. All the staff were courteous, and we had a wonderful time. This is an Accommodation I can recommend.

I loved everything—the location of the Accommodation, the beautiful and calming interior, the spacious and impeccably clean Room with a semi-open-air bath, and the lush Japanese-style garden full of greenery. We chose the “Izu Seasonal Kaiseki” Plan, and both dinner and breakfast were outstanding in quality and generous in portion size. The free-flowing Onsen water could be enjoyed at our leisure in the private open-air bath, the large public bath, and in our Room. The Onsen water—said to be 120°C just five minutes earlier—was carefully temperature-controlled so it reached the tub at a perfect temperature: neither too hot nor too lukewarm. I also appreciated the thoughtful services such as matcha tea and traditional sweets at check-in, a pot of iced water delivered to the Room during dinner, and sherbet or coffee served in the lobby after bathing—but above all, what impressed me most was the attentive hospitality of every staff member. With unstable weather and days of rain leading up to our stay—and rain forecast for our dates—I was worried at first. Fortunately, we had good weather for both days we were there, and staying at such a wonderful Accommodation with such high service standards made this trip truly relaxing. Thank you very much. Of course I would love to return here again, and I also feel like visiting “Izu Kawazu-hama Isoaruki no Yuyado Shiogumo” and “Omuro no Mori Gyokusui.”

We stayed with No Meals Included, but we were able to enjoy complimentary late-night ochazuke. The broth was rich and very delicious. There were three of us, and since the washing area for the private open-air bath was a separate shower booth, we ended up taking turns one by one. However, the Onsen itself and the mist shower were both very pleasant. Next time, we’d like to stay again with meals included!

We stay here mainly for Arashi no Yu, and every time it’s one moving experience after another—thank you again for this visit. The table tennis & darts Room was a hidden gem, and the kids were thrilled! If I had one request, it would be to have some board games the kids can enjoy (even something like UNO) in the table tennis Room or at the front desk—then children wouldn’t get bored even during a Multiple Night Stay. In any case, thank you as always for another wonderful experience.

I seem to have booked an accessible room without realizing it, and was shown to a first-floor guest room. The in-room bathroom was an impressive stone design with great attention to detail, and the tub had plenty of continuously flowing water. The stone flooring was also slip-resistant, which felt reassuring. The clear Onsen water was silky-smooth—an excellent bath overall. That said, because the first-floor room is almost level with the embankment, bamboo grass has been planted for privacy and the room felt a bit dark, which was disappointing. With the special blinds set at just the right angle, views from outside are well blocked. Whether it was the mattress or something else, I slept very soundly. The large public baths are on the 3rd floor (women), 2nd floor (men), plus there are additional baths in the basement including a granite bath and an open-air rock bath. It’s fun to enjoy a variety of baths around the Accommodation from morning onward, and my companion was very satisfied as well and seemed refreshed. There are stairs to reach some of the basement baths and the open-air rock bath, so even younger guests should take care. Dinner featured local specialties such as salt-grilled ayu sweetfish, followed by more unpretentious yet delicious dishes—overall a very positive impression. Breakfast was also served seated in private or semi-private rooms, so we could enjoy it calmly. After flood damage, tasteful renovations have been done throughout; starting with the lobby, everything felt comfortable overall. However, since it isn’t newly built, there were slight slopes here and there in places like corridors. Being along the riverbank also means small insects can’t be completely avoided in summer. A Facility where you can feel the atmosphere of a classic Onsen inn. If I have another chance, I’d like to stay in a guest room on either the 2nd or 3rd floor.

I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath with a two-meal plan. I only realized after arriving at the station that there was no shuttle bus in the 2 p.m. hour, so I took a city bus instead. It was very helpful that you were able to process my check-in early.\nThe bath in the Room had a pleasantly silky texture and I could use it anytime. I also love manga, so having them set up right outside the Room was perfect.\nBreakfast and dinner were buffet-style. Dinner was enjoyable enough, but I wish breakfast had offered a bit more variety. There wasn’t much I wanted to eat, and even the salted bread—the one item I did want—sold out while I was waiting in line, even though it wasn’t yet 8:00 a.m.… which was disappointing.\nI assume the shuttle bus schedule avoids peak times for check-in and check-out because it gets crowded, but the timing feels a bit awkward. If you arrive early to enjoy Manyo Club, or if you plan to continue using it for an additional fee after check-out, then it shouldn’t be an issue.\nI liked this Onsen Facility more than the one in Kobe, so I would like to stay again.

We had the pleasure of staying at Yumoto Yukomaso, a member of the Japan Association for Protecting Secluded Hot Springs. The location, Onsen, and meals were all in perfect harmony at a consistently high level, allowing us to fully enjoy everything this Accommodation has to offer. What left the strongest impression was the Onsen overlooking lush spring greenery in a wonderfully rustic setting. Soaking in the water while surrounded by birdsong and the crystal-clear air of Mt. Asahidake was truly exceptional. The cuisine was also outstanding, showcasing the chef’s dedication—deeply flavorful dashi that brought out the best in each ingredient, and beautifully presented dishes plated with great care that conveyed genuine craftsmanship. Our Room was Superior Twin Room 401. We were soothed by birdsong and a refreshing breeze through the window, and thanks to their carefully selected spring water and comfortable mattress—together with the benefits of the Onsen—we felt deeply restored both body and mind. Our walk around Mt. Asahidake is also an unforgettable memory. This has become one of our favorite Accommodations, and we will definitely return.
