Thank you again for your wonderful hospitality. We were thrilled to stay for the first time in a Japanese-style room with a jacuzzi, which is usually very hard to secure a Reservation, and my cousin and I were overjoyed. We could also admire the Mid-Autumn full moon through the large open picture window at the front—it was an unforgettable, moving moment. Throughout the property, we were impressed by the thoughtful touches everywhere: simple arrangements of wildflowers and fine pieces on display that we could enjoy as we walked to the restaurant and public bath. The moon-viewing décor in the lobby lounge, as well as the magnificent folding screen and large floral arrangement at the entrance, were all wonderful. Next time, I would love to visit with my husband and family, including my son and his wife. Thank you very much.

This was my second visit, and it was wonderful again. The cuisine, the Room, the baths (the in-Room Onsen), and everyone’s hospitality—everything was simply outstanding. It is truly an Accommodation that makes you glad you came back. Above all, the proprietress’s warm hospitality stayed with me. She welcomed us so kindly once again, and her attentiveness during meal service and at departure made us feel at ease. It made me want to see her again, so I’m hoping to visit next spring. I look forward to seeing you then.

Its kaleidoscopic beauty resonates deeply in the heart. Exquisitely prepared with sincere care, the cuisine is truly delicious. A beautiful garden that reflects the seasons—so captivating you could gaze at it forever. Elegant summer décor that lets you fully experience Kyoto’s traditional culture. Hanging scrolls, ikebana, and a beautifully arranged Room down to every detail. The head chef, attendants, the young proprietress, and the proprietress herself offer warm, attentive hospitality with genuine grace. Thinking that all of this beauty is an expression of love for each guest fills me with freshness and gratitude. At Kikkawa, you can feel the refined spirit of Kyoto—an appreciation for making everyday life beautiful and joyful. It began as an Accommodation I hoped to stay at at least once in my life; before I knew it, this was my 11th visit. A superb culinary Ryokan I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who truly loves Kyoto.

At first, the parking area felt a bit scary. There are wheel stops, but if you come in with too much speed, it feels like you could end up in the river. There were three private baths, all a good size. If they were available, we could use them as much as we wanted, and one of the private baths even had a sauna. Amenities are the type you take what you need to your Room, and there was a wide variety. After bathing, they also had ice cream and black soybean tea available. Since it’s all-inclusive, drinks were set out on both the 1st and 2nd floors, which was convenient. On the 2nd floor where the Rooms are, there were two massage chairs that we could use freely. Dinner was a white squid course; it wasn’t live squid so it wasn’t at its sweetest, but there was still sweetness—and for two people it was more than enough quantity (half might have been plenty). We came for nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), and we assumed one fish for two people, so we were surprised that each person got one. It was delicious. The Room was very clean, and the whole Ryokan smelled wonderful. Even though winter is crab season—and I expected everything to smell like crab—it felt very refined with a pleasant woody scent instead. There are no windows so don’t expect any views; however, the space with the sofa (with TV), bed, and washbasin area is very comfortable. The downside is that you can’t tell what the weather is like outside. But if you’re looking to enjoy an escape focused on eating and relaxing indoors, that may not be a bad thing. Breakfast was excellent across the board—the rice cooked in an earthenware pot was great, and so was the mirin-dried horse mackerel. On our way out we also tried grinding coffee with a stone mill for ourselves for once again enjoyed truly good coffee after a long time.

My mother, who stayed with me and uses a wheelchair, received thoughtful and warm support, which was a great help. I only get to see my mother, who lives far away, a few times a year. I’m truly glad we were able to spend our precious time together here in comfort and at ease. My mother was very happy as well, so we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

The Facility and service were excellent, and it’s a place where I’d like to stay one more night or visit again. This is a recommended Accommodation. Unfortunately, there were two issues: 1. The shower in Room 106 had almost no water pressure, so I couldn’t wash my hair. I went somewhere else in the middle of the night to wash my hair. I would like enough water pressure in the Room shower to be able to wash my hair. 2. There was no lobby with staff on site at the Accommodation; if anything happened, I was told to scan a QR code and talk via smartphone. However, I could not access the system from my phone no matter how many times I tried. Even though I went there to relax, I had to struggle for a long time with setting up a smartphone system that didn’t work. Please place a telephone in the Room.

We stayed for two nights with three generations, and everyone was thoroughly satisfied—not only with the magnificent views from the lobby and our Room, but also with the wonderful hospitality and delicious meals. The staff’s attentive, warm service and smiles were especially memorable, and we felt a gentle, clear, pleasant atmosphere throughout the Hotel. Shizuoka has many sightseeing spots, including a history museum that children can enjoy and Shizuoka Municipal Nihondaira Zoo (this zoo has many thoughtful touches and is truly recommended), so every generation can have a great time. After check-out, we also went to Shimizu Port to enjoy dining and shopping. We visited several attractions including Toshogu Shrine, but there was so much to see that next time we would like to stay at this Hotel again and take more time to fully enjoy both the places we visited this time as well. My spouse and I stayed for one night and two days. We love traveling and usually stay at luxury hotels, and this Hotel was truly wonderful! We stayed in the Deluxe A type. The Room was very spacious and spotless. All minibar items (snacks, coffee, drinks in the refrigerator, etc.) were complimentary, and everything felt carefully selected with no compromises—really enjoyable. The best part was the in-room Onsen with an open view! Since our Room was on the first floor, there were no tall fences or glass panels, so all we could see was the forest scenery—it felt incredibly open. It was one of the best open-air bath experiences we’ve ever had. All staff members were kind and attentive, without the forced politeness or stiffness that can be common at Hotels. Thanks to that, we felt comfortable throughout our stay. We also used the private bath, which was great as well. It could be used contactlessly with a dedicated card key, cold water was prepared in the refrigerator, and there were coffee milk drinks and ice cream placed along the hallway—thoughtful services clearly designed with guests in mind. This time we made a Reservation for the shabu-shabu Plan, and we were surprised by how much food there was. We assumed it would be a simple course with a small appetizer plus shabu-shabu, but it turned out to be more like a full standard course meal with shabu-shabu served as the main. It felt like more than double a typical course portion size, so I recommend arriving very hungry. Breakfast—both Japanese-style and Western-style—was delicious, with plenty of variety and satisfying portions. One regret is that both dinner and breakfast were served in an inner private dining room, so we couldn’t enjoy any views while eating. Out of three parties who arrived around the same time as us, two were seated by windows while only we were guided to an inner private room—that was a bit disappointing. I understand window seats are limited so it may not be avoidable; still, if we have another chance next time I’d love to dine by the window. Overall, it was an amazing two days enjoying exceptional service and our in-room Onsen. We would definitely love to return!

The room and bath, the cuisine, and the service were all excellent—this was an inn with outstanding hospitality. In particular, the private dining room was a wonderful space full of artistic sensibility. The reflection of the waterway on the navy-blue walls created a truly magical atmosphere. I also felt it would be nice to raise the blinds a little at breakfast to enjoy it even more. The locally made cookies provided in the room were also delicious. It’s an inn where I’d love to stay again in a different room.

It was rare for our whole family to be together, so we decided to stay on short notice. After check-in, we headed to our Room with a complimentary drink from the lobby (non-alcoholic) in hand. The Room was more spacious than expected, well stocked with amenities, and the view was wonderful. The bedside light brightness can’t be adjusted, but it wasn’t an issue. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes. The freshly grilled Wagyu steak made to order was delicious, but the best was the made-to-order tempura where you can choose the ingredients to be fried. There were also many types of all-you-can-drink alcohol options, which we enjoyed. For breakfast, you can choose the fillings for your omelet, and there were plenty of both Japanese and Western options as well. Towels were provided at the large public bath, and the free ice cream after bathing was great too! All staff provided polite service—especially the restaurant staff, who spoke gently and kindly—and it felt like they paid close attention to guests. After checkout, my daughter was touched by a woman who greeted us cheerfully at the car drop-off area and waved both hands as she saw us off until we left; it made for a very pleasant departure from the Hotel and a wonderful stay overall.

From the moment we arrived until we left, the hospitality was truly wonderful and deeply impressed us. The proprietress quickly remembered my daughter’s name and even came to greet us at dinner, and the staff who served our meal had such warm smiles. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food. We were also able to relax and fully enjoy the Onsen. I was happy that we could take a photo with the proprietress when we checked out. We would love to visit again, and we appreciate your continued hospitality.

We stayed for one night and two days. We made a Reservation with the Anniversary Plan, and it was wonderful to be able to consult freely from preparing the surprise through the day itself. Thanks to you, the surprise was a success—thank you very much! The staff were also very attentive, and we had a comfortable stay. The food was delicious as well, and we were able to enjoy an amazing day.

From check-in to departure, the attentive service was excellent and we were very satisfied. The only drawback was the condition of the access road; we encountered oncoming cars once on arrival and twice on departure, but managed without any issues. If given the opportunity, we would like to stay again.

Moving around the property in samue was also very convenient. Lately we have often stayed at foreign-owned Hotels, so we were able to truly relax thanks to your warm and thoughtful hospitality. We would love to visit again.

This was my first time staying here. The quiet, relaxing atmosphere, pleasant service, and lush green surroundings... It was a very comfortable Hotel. I stayed after attending my daughter’s wedding, and I was able to unwind and relax. I didn’t have much time for sightseeing this time, so next time I’d like to stay here longer and enjoy sightseeing as well. Thank you very much.

A relaxing, tranquil Accommodation for adults. Watch the ever-changing sky, sea, and forest, and the sparkling stars; soak in the Onsen whenever you like; and enjoy high-quality meals... Above all, the staff’s hospitality is outstanding. During my stay, they never once asked for my name or Room number, and they even adjusted the end time of dinner to fit my spa Reservation. Thanks to their seamless communication and thoughtful care, I felt completely at ease throughout my stay. I will be back again. Thank you very much.

My spouse and I stayed for one night. It would have been even better if our Room had a sofa, but the bath was indoors and an Onsen, already filled for us. The staff member who guided us also provided a thorough and helpful explanation. The meals were wonderful both dinner and breakfast, and we truly felt pampered. Since we dined in a private room, we couldn’t eat while looking out at the sea, which was the only disappointment. We have stayed at many Hotels, but this had the best food of all. We happened to visit Shimonoseki this time and found this Hotel by chance, but next time we will travel specifically to stay here.

The Onsen was outstanding, the hospitality was exceptional, and we found a truly wonderful Accommodation. The coffee we were served was authentic and incredibly delicious. It seems the space is designed so you can relax without worrying about time. However, not being able to find a clock anywhere was a bit inconvenient. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

The Room, meals, Sea of Japan view, atmosphere, and the staff’s thoughtful hospitality—everything about this Accommodation was perfect. Warm, comforting touches were sprinkled throughout, making our stay truly happy. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again when we have the chance.

The location is simply outstanding. From anywhere on the property, I could see Mt. Bandai beyond Yairoku Pond, and I was moved again and again. In addition, the service, dinner and breakfast, open-air bath, cleanliness, and the lounge’s ease of use were all excellent and comfortable. I’m glad I chose Urabandai Kogen Hotel for my commemorative trip. The nature that changes with each season must be wonderful as well, so next time I’d love to visit in a different season.
