There are three types of Onsen: a private open-air bath, a family bath, and a large public bath—all of which were very satisfying. The meals were also delicious. We were able to spend a quiet, relaxing, and happy time.

I stayed here with my two sons while traveling around Hiraizumi.\nThe welcome drinks were a self-serve free-drink setup where you could mix and match—beer, chilled sake, wine, various liqueurs, and more. In addition, the lobby corner was packed with nostalgic snacks, bar bites, shaved ice, ice cream, and other treats.\nThe large public bath included an open-air bath and was a decent size. I was disappointed there wasn’t a sauna.\nWe used a Room for up to four people with three of us, so it felt very spacious. However, it was an accessible care Room: one bed was a nursing-care bed, and there were ceiling rails leading all the way to the bathroom. I felt that guests using wheelchairs could stay here with peace of mind.\nOne disappointing point was that when we woke up in the morning, the bathroom light had dimmed to about nightlight level. It had been normal until bedtime, but I couldn’t find any adjustment button even after looking for one, which made getting ready in the morning a bit inconvenient.\nWe enjoyed all of the meals—dinner, the late-night snack (tantanmen), and breakfast.\nSince we live far away we may not stay at this Hotel again, but I would like to try other Kamenoi Hotels.

My first stay. The large public bath was spacious, and I enjoyed the Onsen at a leisurely pace. The guest Room had high ceilings and an open-air bath; there was a Japanese-style room next to the bed, and each room had a TV, so I could truly refresh. The meals were kaiseki cuisine—sashimi, tempura, grilled fish, a small hot pot, chilled chawanmushi, and more—everything was very delicious, and I also had two large draft beers.

My spouse and I visited Wakasa for the first time from Tokyo. A hidden Accommodation quietly nestled in a very peaceful fishing village. From our Room, the beautiful Sea of Japan stretched out below us. Listening to the waves crashing against the rocks, we enjoyed a truly luxurious time watching the sun slowly sink into the endless horizon. The view from the bath was also outstanding. The meal was a kaiseki course featuring plenty of fresh local fish and vegetables, and we were left speechless by the rich flavors—something you could never experience in the city. We were able to fully enjoy everything Wakasa has to offer. We look forward to staying again.

This trip was to celebrate my mother’s birthday. She requested to see the Onsen she had visited with my late father during their honeymoon, and also the snow monkeys at Jigokudani Monkey Park. We chose this Accommodation because Reviews repeatedly mentioned the private family bath and a homey, relaxing atmosphere. True to the Reviews, it was a wonderfully quiet and peaceful place. The warm glow of washi paper lamps displayed throughout was beautiful, and we could feel the proprietress’s thoughtful care in every detail. And the food—absolutely delicious! Dinner just kept coming (laugh). Every dish was freshly made and served hot. The best of all was the kake soba hand-made by the chef that very morning. I love soba and visit many places, but I’m sorry—this was truly the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Breakfast also made us happy with piping-hot dashimaki tamago. The highlight of breakfast was the miso soup—I wanted to take home the whole pot. As we’ve gotten older, we choose our trips carefully based on both meals and Accommodation quality, and this place offered outstanding value for money. More than anything, we made unforgettable memories here. On our way out, I bought one of the lamps that were on display at the Accommodation as a gift for my mother. Thanks to you, it became the best birthday present possible. We’ll come again in winter—and again for her birthday next year too. We stayed here for a family trip. We love Hida furniture, and we were delighted with the table and sofa in our Room. As for amenities, we wished there had been a towel for washing the body. We only had breakfast, but some dishes were served in small bowls, which made them easy to pick up. Everything was delicious. It’s a Hotel we would like to stay at again.

We stayed for two nights as a base for sightseeing and were able to rest well thanks to the quiet atmosphere and comfortable beds. This time we focused on sightseeing and only had breakfast, but the morning buffet was delicious. The spacious, easy-to-use parking lot also left a great impression.

I stayed here on my first trip to Hokkaido in a while. I was extremely satisfied with the outstanding location, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the exceptional hospitality of everyone at the Hotel. The view from the open-air bath was also wonderful, and I would definitely like to stay here again. Thank you very much.

We stayed here because you can eat crab even in summer, and it’s very close to the Accommodation with fishing available nearby. Even without any gear, they lent us equipment for just the cost of bait, and we caught horse mackerel and wrasse one after another—our child was thrilled. They also cooked the fish we caught and served it at dinner. The crab portions were so generous that one person couldn’t finish it all. Since it was summer I was a bit worried, but the meat was firm and it was very delicious. I may have made a mistake by using the bath late at night—the hot-water spout into the tub had been turned off, so the water was lukewarm. If you prefer hotter water, you may want to bathe earlier. Breakfast was also more than we could finish; their reputation as a cuisine-focused Ryokan is well deserved. Because the forecast showed a typhoon heading straight for the area, I contacted them the day before as I was worried about traveling there. They provided clear local information, which reassured us and allowed us to head out with peace of mind. Thank you very much.

We stayed on May 2, right in the middle of Golden Week. The traffic and bustle on the way to the Accommodation disappeared the moment we arrived—it felt like another world. We relaxed in the in-room bath to soothe our fatigue, and my wife even took a peaceful nap until dinner. Dinner, which we had been looking forward to, exceeded our expectations and left us completely satisfied. The portions and variety were excellent, and no matter how much there was, it still didn’t feel like enough with the kamado-cooked rice. (Breakfast was also outstanding.) We were able to spend our time without coming into contact with other guests. Finally, from arrival to departure, we were greeted with warm smiles throughout. Both body and mind were refreshed, making it a truly wonderful trip. We would definitely like to visit again.

The front desk staff were very courteous, and the Room was clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. I would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

Shizukatei True to its name, this Accommodation was wonderfully quiet and relaxing, far removed from any hustle and bustle, and surrounded by peaceful rural scenery. The road to the Accommodation was a narrow farm lane where passing other cars required care, but clear signs were placed at key points, and as we got closer, banners guided us along the route. Soba-an I had high expectations for the 80/20 soba served at dinner, but it easily surpassed them—it was exceptionally delicious. In addition, many dishes were prepared using plenty of seasonal vegetables, carefully cooked and beautifully presented. We enjoyed a wide variety of flavors and textures, as well as the visual appeal. Breakfast was also an excellent Japanese set meal with plenty of vegetables and a generous number of dishes. Oshu Hiraizumi Onsen The free-flowing natural Onsen water was a little hot, but we thoroughly enjoyed it together with the open-air bath. Finally, what impressed me most during this stay was the staff. From check-in to being shown to our Room; since dinner was served in-room, their smooth service and efficient delivery; after the meal, clearing everything away and then laying out the futons with equally outstanding efficiency; checkout was completed without any waiting time, and they even came outside to see us off afterward. This was our first visit during Golden Week as part of a family trip service day, and my family was truly happy and satisfied. We were deeply impressed by the professionalism of everyone involved.

I stayed in a non-smoking twin room with breakfast for one night. It is conveniently located about a 5–6 minute walk from Iyotetsu Takashimaya, and I was surprised at how affordable the accommodation was. The facility is not new, but it is kept clean so it didn’t bother me. The Hotel staff were kind, and I had a pleasant stay. I would like to stay again.

I stayed here because of its convenient location for enjoying a concert at Ohga Hall. This Hotel has a quiet atmosphere that lets you feel Karuizawa’s history. Thanks to the kind and attentive service from the staff, I was able to relax and enjoy my stay. Thank you very much. However, I felt that seniors should be careful of the step in the bathroom.

Return Visit Stayed for two nights a few years ago and was amazed by how incredible the Moor Onsen was. They even had our past stay history on record, which really showed their professionalism. At the time, we were a bit bothered by some odors in the Room and Onsen, so we “cheated” for a while with a newer Accommodation nearby (laugh). This time, we made a Reservation for a newly renovated Room. Bottom line: it was excellent! I’m not really into saunas, but I enjoyed it because you can adjust the temperature in various ways and even listen to music. There were plenty of towels, and bathrobes were provided as well. The only downside was that the open-air bath was slightly too hot. The food was delicious, and the service was flawless. If they renovate more guest rooms, we will definitely stay again.

The Accommodation and our Room were very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. There were many Onsen options—an in-room scenic-view bath, the Facility’s large public bath, an open-air bath, and a family bath—so my Onsen-loving husband and our 6-year-old son enjoyed them so much they went four times a day (laugh). The hospitality of the proprietress and staff was wonderful. I was pregnant, but I was able to truly relax and take it easy during our 2-night, 3-day stay. Also, there is a river very close by where children can play and enjoy nature, so both adults and kids never got bored. It’s an Accommodation we would love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

The food was simply outstanding. There were so many dishes that we couldn’t finish them all. The bath is small, but there is also an open-air bath, and everything was clean; it warmed us up nicely. We enjoyed chatting with the proprietress and her daughter, and had a pleasant, comfortable stay. We’re glad we chose Minami Ryokan.

The roads in Arima Onsen are narrow, and they kept getting narrower on the way to the Hotel parking area, which made us a bit anxious, but we arrived safely. The staff were kind and attentive, and there were snacks and drinks in the lobby, so we could relax. The Room was also clean and well prepared; we took a short rest and enjoyed a walk around the Onsen town, which was fun. Since we requested a later dinner time, we were able to enjoy the bath at a leisurely pace. We thoroughly enjoyed plenty of meat with our meal. The other dishes also felt carefully prepared and were delicious. It was also nice that we could enjoy dessert in the lobby later in the evening after taking some time. If I had to mention one thing, it would have been better if breakfast items like bacon and sausages were served hot. We thought this might be our first and last trip to Arima Onsen, but now my spouse and I would like to visit again. We were happy with the Room upgrade—thank you very much.

While looking for Kurokawa Onsen, I came across Yamazaki Ryokan. I stayed there during my visit, and it was an even more wonderful Accommodation than I had imagined. I would definitely like to stay again! - The Shuttle Service to and from the Kurokawa bus stop was available, which I really appreciated. - The building itself was very clean and well maintained, and housekeeping was thorough. It felt reassuring—like coming back to my family home—and I was able to relax in comfort. - All of the staff welcomed us with smiles at all times, and their service was truly outstanding. The warm, homey atmosphere throughout made it very pleasant. - During my stay, I could enjoy the Onsen anytime as much as I wanted, at whatever time suited me. It really helped soothe away my fatigue afterward. - Dinner was generous in portion size, each dish showed thoughtful creativity, and everything was genuinely delicious. - Breakfast also featured many carefully prepared dishes, and I was very satisfied. Overall, I could truly feel the staff’s hospitality throughout my stay and enjoyed a wonderfully luxurious time. If I have the chance to visit again, I would absolutely like to stay here.

Despite being in Beppu City, this Accommodation is wonderfully quiet. Because it’s a small Accommodation, we didn’t run into anyone at all. We were told the building is old, but it has been fully renovated—the Room and baths were outstanding. Truly lovely. The amenities are well stocked, and there’s also a coffee machine. All drinks in the refrigerator are free as well. If your Room doesn’t have an in-room bath, you can use one of the three private baths. They are not by Reservation—if one is available, you can use it. Personally, I recommend “Nadeshiko.” The changing area is stylish and really lifts your mood! I was able to relax and enjoy it with my husband without any worries. Meals are served in your Room, which is rare these days. Everything was brought at just the right timing. Every dish was carefully prepared and genuinely delicious. We couldn’t finish everything, so they packed the yellowtail and wild vegetable rice for a late-night snack. And checkout is at 11:00! We’re grateful we could stay until the very last minute. I’ve stayed at some fairly nice Accommodations in Yufuin as well, but this Accommodation felt like a much better value and was far more comfortable. I highly recommend it for couples, married couples, and families with small children.
