It’s about a 20-minute drive to Takachiho Gorge, but we chose Kijiya because it’s an onsen Accommodation. We had reserved the first boat ride at Takachiho Gorge the next morning, so we stayed with dinner only. Dinner was delicious, with salt-grilled yamame trout, sashimi, tempura, and more. As expected, the onsen was wonderful. We checked out early in the morning, but it’s a great Accommodation where you can truly relax.

In early August, five adults stayed for one night in a Japanese-Western style Room. The Room was spacious enough, and we enjoyed evening drinks around the table together. Our grandfather, who has been needing the toilet more often lately, also felt reassured having a Room with a private toilet. We used the large public bath at 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM; it was almost private for men, and since the men’s and women’s baths switch between morning and evening, we were able to enjoy both. Dinner with the Hamayu Plan was more than sufficient, with a satisfying variety of dishes. Breakfast was around 8:00 AM; it was crowded so we had to wait in our Room for a short while, but it was very delicious. They also seem to have a table tennis area and a bar. My recommendation is Shimago Beach, just outside next to the lobby entrance. Because there is an imperial villa nearby, it is very quiet, with calm waves. Take one of the free loaner chairs and try sitting on the beach in the morning.

I can’t share the details, but they accommodated our requests. We truly appreciated all your help! Meals were breakfast only, buffet-style with a good variety and very tasty. We had dinner at the restaurant inside the same Hotel. There was a live fish tank, which was perfect for my husband and me as we love sashimi! Since our child doesn’t eat sashimi, we ordered chicken nanban instead, and it was delicious. They also had plenty of à la carte dishes and many kid-friendly options. I did notice some dust on the bathroom exhaust fan, but the staff were very helpful, and overall we were satisfied.

This trip had us constantly checking the weather, but we came with our kids, believing there might still be a chance to stargaze at the observatory. It was cloudy and forecast to clear after midnight, so we arrived early with mixed feelings. Before check-in, we were allowed to play mallet golf for free, and the kids ended up running around nonstop on the playground athletics course in the park. After check-in, we relaxed in the large public bath. It was very clean—it's not an Onsen, but it was great. Dinner was at the restaurant from around 19:00. The food was delicious and very generous; our kids couldn’t finish it, which we felt bad about. We really appreciated that the portions were adjusted for younger and older elementary school children. Then came what we’d been waiting for: stargazing! Unfortunately, because of the clouds, it switched to the planetarium instead. But thanks to those clouds, some guests apparently canceled—and unbelievably, everything ended up being completely private just for us! The director’s friendly talk and quizzes had our kids excited from start to finish. He also projected images of what you can see on a clear night, and it turned into an incredibly satisfying 45-minute journey through space! On our way out, each of us got to choose one favorite photo from the director’s collection taken at the observatory. When we stepped outside afterward, we could faintly see the moon and one or two stars starting to appear. Lights-out was at 21:30. We woke up at 2:00 hoping for a miracle—real stars—and somehow even the kids managed to get up too. Looking out through the large south-facing window, my child shouted “The Milky Way!!” I thought it might be a mistake—but it really was the Milky Way!! In the planetarium earlier, we’d heard that Scorpius is a “miracle constellation,” visible in that alignment only from Earth—and that seeing even its tail requires conditions that are rare even here at Ogawa Observatory… yet there it was as well!! We were so moved and happy that I fell asleep peacefully afterward! Breakfast was also excellent—again our kids couldn’t finish everything (sorry!). All of your staff were friendly and welcoming too; it was a truly satisfying trip! I actually stopped by about 20 years ago while visiting filming locations from *Hakusen Nagashi*, but I only briefly passed through back then—so this time left me deeply impressed.

The Hotel’s exterior feels a bit dated, but everything inside was simply wonderful. The moment we entered the Room, the futons were already laid out, and our kids—tired from traveling by car—immediately dove in and happily rolled around. (It seems this is done to reduce the number of times staff enter the Room.) The meals were delicious with just the right portions, and all of the staff were kind and courteous. There were also plenty of family-friendly activities such as a festival-style kids’ event and a stamp rally, pool float rentals, free darts and table tennis, fireworks, and above all, the open-air bath was incredibly relaxing—we went both at night and in the morning and felt refreshed in both body and mind. One small note: there was a sauna set up by the open-air bath; I tried it, but the bench was too hot to sit on, so I wish I had placed a towel down. The kids were very satisfied too—since we stayed only one night this time, they liked it so much they said they want to stay two nights next time. They also love the otter pouch we won from the crane game. We had plenty of time to enjoy the pool as well—it was truly a fun stay at a Hotel where you can feel thoughtful attention throughout. Thank you very much.

At the end of the year, we enjoyed the seafood of Hokuriku, such as crab and cold yellowtail, and had a good New Year's Eve. On New Year's Day, we also enjoyed traditional osechi, and were able to feel the tradition through the excellent arrangements and wonderful utensils. We truly enjoyed the Japanese New Year. We would love to visit again during this season.

The Hotel building seems old, but it was well cleaned and very tidy. The meals were among the best I have ever had during my stays. Each dish was carefully prepared. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity.

Thank you very much for taking care of us the other day. This time, we planned a relaxing trip without overpacking our schedule and chose this Accommodation. The Room we stayed in was a renovated traditional storehouse in an old house, with both a first and second floor—very spacious. There was no TV or clock, so we were able to unwind exactly as planned. Another reason we chose this Accommodation was that we wanted to try the French dinner we saw on the travel site. When we actually had dinner, every dish was even more delicious than expected, and my wife and I were continuously impressed. In particular, the charcoal-grilled A5 Wagyu filet had the aroma of wood fire the moment it touched my mouth, and it easily ranks among the top three meat dishes I’ve ever had. I also quietly appreciated that corn rice was served instead of bread with the meat course. Also, perhaps from a casual conversation at check-in, they realized it was my birthday and surprised me with a celebration at dinner. It was embarrassing but truly made me happy and moved me. If there is one area for improvement, it would be nice if breakfast could be chosen as either Japanese or Western style. Overall, this is an Accommodation I can highly recommend.

The place was clean and well-maintained, allowing for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. I appreciated the availability of bicycles and made good use of them. I understand that maintaining a traditional house can be challenging, but I hope you continue to preserve and manage this building. Thank you very much for everything this time.

The facility was excellent and very comfortable. The parking lot was narrow, making it difficult to load and unload luggage from the trunk. During the checkout time, foreign guests were parked on the street to load their luggage, which took a long time and made it difficult for us to move our car. Since there were no staff available, we had to communicate directly with the foreign guests. It would be helpful if staff could assist during that time period. Thank you very much.

The location was excellent. Since we traveled by car, having a parking lot was very helpful. There were plenty of family restaurants, restaurants, and bars nearby for dinner, so we had no trouble finding a place to eat. There was also a convenience store close by. Breakfast was served in a Japanese-style room with a buffet, and we enjoyed the variety. The food was very tasty and not bland at all. The staff were friendly and easy to talk to. The Room was spacious and felt clean despite being older. The large public bath had quite hot water, which might be a bit much for children. It was a very good Accommodation. I would like to stay here again when I visit Kyoto.

I stayed here for a Multiple Night Stay during my trip to Nagano. Even though I arrived much earlier than planned, the front desk staff kindly assisted me, which was very helpful. The Room was spacious enough for a family, and since it was just the two of us as a couple, we could really relax. Because the location is up in the mountains, it was quiet and cool at night, and I slept well. Breakfast was buffet-style with a sufficient variety. Since I stayed multiple nights, I had breakfast twice, and I appreciated that the selection changed slightly. There are vending machines for drinks and ice cream inside the building, as well as a small shop, but there are no convenience stores or restaurants nearby. If you choose a Plan without meals or plan to have light food and drinks in your Room, I recommend shopping before arriving at the Accommodation. I also had a Plan without dinner, so the front desk staff told me about “Madarao no Yu,” located a short way down the hill. Thank you to all the staff for their kind hospitality—this was my first Multiple Night Stay, and I had a very comfortable time.

The twin room was spacious and comfortable, with an Onsen in the room's bathtub. Although I couldn't use the open-air bath due to light rain and chilly weather, the large public bath with natural hot spring water was excellent. The stay included breakfast, which was satisfying in both quality and quantity. However, the first-floor area felt dimly lit at night, creating a somewhat lonely atmosphere.

It was the hot season, so we stayed here on our first trip to Kita-Karuizawa. Since it was raining, we quickly visited Shiraito Falls and checked in after 3:00 pm. They said they installed air conditioning for the first time last year, but the window screens and fan were enough for us. There are two baths, and families can reserve them for private use; I enjoyed soaking twice by myself. The water felt soft and very pleasant. The Room also had POLA amenities, which was a nice touch. The refrigerator is shared, so you write your name on your items. Dinner uses local and homegrown vegetables and fruit, and everything was delicious. For the main dish there is beef or pork; the barley-fed pork roast was outstanding. The sauce was great, but it was delicious even with just salt and pepper. The salad dressing at dinner was also excellent. There are about 50 kinds of wine, and both extra coffee and alcoholic drinks are very reasonably priced. The breakfast bread was placed in a bag with warmed stones (?) inside, so it stayed warm and crispy—really tasty. The owner’s wife shared lots of information about nearby farm stands and the area around here, so on our way back—once the weather cleared—we stopped again at Kubo Farm, Tsuruya Karuizawa store, and the outlet mall before heading home. Vegetables and fruit are inexpensive there, making shopping really fun. I’ve come to love Kita-Karuizawa, and I think we’ll be staying here again next year as well. Thank you very much.

Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious, and our child was very satisfied! Since you stay at a guesthouse expecting great food, it absolutely met our expectations! We want to eat squid again!

The blue swimmer crab pasta (male crab) at dinner was outstanding. Staying at this charming Accommodation—used as a filming location for the movie “Shayo”—limited to three groups, we were impressed by the attentive service and the creative dishes carefully prepared with local seafood, and enjoyed a truly happy time. Next time, I’d like to come back in winter to try the blue swimmer crab pasta (female crab). In cooler weather, traveling from Himeji Station by bus and ferry won’t feel like a hassle, and renting a bicycle is also a great way to explore the island.

The building felt a bit old, but it was very clean and comfortable. The service was excellent, and I would love to stay here again.

I made a Reservation because the Accommodation’s Facilities looked great, and I actually stayed there! The Room had a nice atmosphere and I really enjoyed my stay, but I was surprised that the Accommodation didn’t provide sleepwear. It was my mistake to assume that an Accommodation would automatically include pajamas, but I didn’t expect such well-equipped Facilities without sleepwear... I’ll be more careful next time. Overall, the Accommodation was great.
