We stayed as a couple. We made our Reservation one week before our stay, and the only Room available came with a semi-open-air bath. The Room was very clean and spacious, facing the ocean—absolutely wonderful. The beach is right in front of the Hotel, and it felt like a private beach; we could take a walk at sunset and really enjoy the resort atmosphere. Not only was the in-room semi-open-air bath great, but the large public bath with an open-air bath was also very spacious, so we could relax and enjoy it at our leisure. For dinner, since we don’t eat much, we chose the standard course and it was more than enough. It seemed you could also order extras such as golden eye snapper, abalone, and spiny lobster. Breakfast was entirely self-service, and even if you wanted to grill dried fish (aji), you had to go get items like a pot and solid fuel yourself, which felt a bit inconvenient. Alcohol was free during dinner, which was excellent; however, there were no vending machines inside the Hotel for other times, so having to go out to a convenience store to buy drinks was disappointing. Considering the Facility and overall offering, it felt like good value for money; overall satisfaction was high, and we would like to stay again.

The website highlighted the dining, and indeed both dinner and breakfast were as beautiful and delicious as expected. The service was attentive, making our stay very comfortable. The view from the terrace is well worth seeing, so don’t miss it.

We have four dogs, including a Golden Retriever and a Mameshiba, so we always stay in a villa with a private dog run. However, every time we’ve felt that something was always just slightly inconvenient—but RETONA was perfect. Since there’s a splash pond in the dog run, we thought we should bring towels, but there were towels right at the entrance, along with a water tank for dogs and bowls. We also received one complimentary drink per person from the vending machine at the dog-run entrance!! Thanks to that, our dogs were able to run around the spacious dog run to their hearts’ content and slept soundly at night. For dinner, since our dogs are always with us as usual, we assumed the food would end up getting cold—but each dish was served at just the right time: hot items while still hot and cold items while still cold. Everything was delicious—the soup and even the mango vegetable juice—and the appetizers were presented like an afternoon tea set: not only tasty but also beautifully arranged. Whenever we met any staff member, they greeted us with wonderful smiles, and they even helped carry our luggage upon arrival—which was truly helpful for our multi-dog household. The bath in our Room was very spacious as well, everything was spotless throughout, and above all we didn’t feel any drawbacks or inconvenience at all. We travel at least five or six times a year, and during long holidays we often stay about four nights. We would absolutely love to visit again. Thank you very much.

The all-inclusive plan made us feel at ease. The meals were just the right portion size, which was perfect for us as seniors. The Hotel staff were excellent, and everything was a convenient, comfortable size to use. However, it was a bit disappointing that there was only one karaoke room.

I stayed at this Ryokan for my first Beppu Onsen trip, and I truly feel it was the best choice. The room had an Onsen bath, allowing us to enjoy it multiple times with our children and fully relax as a family. Additionally, the private family bath was spacious and highly recommended. What left the biggest impression was the delicious cuisine. Each dish was carefully prepared, incredibly tasty, and thoroughly satisfying. The Oita specialty "Toriten" we ordered additionally was exceptional. The attention to detail in children's menus and portion sizes made for a wonderful dining experience. The staff were consistently kind and attentive from arrival to departure, making our stay pleasant and enjoyable. They also provided detailed information about Beppu Onsen, creating great memories for our children. From the meals to the staff's hospitality to even small amenities, every detail reflected their dedication to excellent service. It truly is an outstanding accommodation. If I have another chance to visit Beppu, I would love to stay here again. Thanks to this Ryokan, we had a fantastic trip in Oita. Thank you for such a wonderful time!

We chose this Accommodation because it offers views of Lake Biwa. The scenery throughout the property was exactly as shown in the photos on the website, and we were captivated by the refined design and attention to detail. We booked a Plan that included breakfast and dinner, and every dish made generous use of local ingredients and was truly delicious. We would love to return, and we would also like to recommend it to someone special. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

This was my first stay. The atmosphere was warm and homey, and all the staff welcomed us with bright smiles. The Facility is a bit old, but it is well maintained and spotlessly clean. The meals featured locally sourced ingredients, were beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The Onsen warmed me through to the core and left my skin glowing. I soaked in it many times. I felt refreshed for the first time in a while. I’m happy to have found an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

We stayed here during the Obon holiday on a trip to the Sanin region. The Room was a comfortable space that helped us unwind from our daily fatigue, and it was wonderful. We were also very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast, fully enjoying the bounty of Sanin’s sea and mountains! We are grateful for the warm hospitality of the staff and chef. This was a wonderfully rustic Onsen that Onsen lovers will adore. The naturally gushing spring water flows abundantly, and you can truly feel the power of nature. It also gets very lively with day-trip visitors. We stayed with the conger eel (hamo) course, and what surprised us most—given the simple exterior—was how outstanding the cuisine was. It was like a high-end kaiseki meal: beautifully presented, with seasonal touches so refined it almost felt too beautiful to eat. The soup course even featured delicate dew-like droplets, and as we enjoyed an authentic kaiseki course, we were warmed by the chefs’ heartfelt hospitality. It was our first time having an all-hamo menu from start to finish in so many different preparations! Even delicacies like liver and swim bladder were included—proof of exceptional freshness. The hot pot ingredients featured white vegetables and tofu chosen to match the hamo’s translucent look; even that alone felt like early summer had arrived, and it was subtly garnished with fresh green maple leaves misted lightly for a dewy finish. We were truly moved. Our whole family agreed there’s no more luxurious hamo course than this. With spring quality worthy of being called a hidden hot spring and cuisine that delights both the eyes and palate, it felt incredibly indulgent—and we’re grateful it’s so close to Osaka. The staff were wonderful, and the Accommodation was impeccably clean throughout. This was the most impressive stay we’ve had in recent years!

From arrival to check-out, we had a very comfortable stay. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with such generous portions that we couldn’t finish everything. The staff were kind and their warm smiles were wonderful. When we visit the Nanki-Katsuura area again, we would love to stay at Manshiro again.

First of all, choosing to stay overnight on Miyajima was absolutely the right decision, and this Accommodation was wonderful. The meals were excellent, the Room was spotless, and the property felt remarkably calm and quiet despite the bustle outside. The lounge is a stylish space where you can enjoy both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. They also helped us with information about the island and ferry reservations, which we truly appreciated. This is an Accommodation we would love to return to.

A bright, spacious Room with high ceilings. Surrounded by greenery, we could even hear Japanese bush warblers—it was a wonderful hidden retreat. The carefully prepared dishes made with local ingredients were delicious, and we finished everything. The dried horse mackerel served at breakfast—also used in space food—was so tender we could eat it right down to the bones, a flavor we had never experienced before. When we visit Dogo Onsen again, we would love to stay here once more.

The road to the Accommodation includes steep slopes and narrow sections, so guests who are not confident drivers may find it challenging. On arrival, we received a warm welcome and had a pleasant check-in. The Room was spacious, spotless, and filled with great natural light. However, the Beppu view was blocked by overgrown trees outside the window; please trim them. There were many types of baths, and the iron-rich indoor bath in particular had excellent water quality. The private family bath and open-air bath also offered superb views, which we really enjoyed. Dinner and breakfast were luxurious, featuring only delicious ingredients—very satisfying. All-you-can-drink beer in the lounge is an irresistible service for beer lovers. It seems there are even more wonderful Accommodations in your group, so I’d like to try another one next time as well.

We stayed as two adults. We were able to enjoy a variety of alcoholic drinks in the lounge, and it felt like a quiet, sophisticated space. You can have a truly wonderful time here. The Room was very clean and comfortable. The meals were also delicious, and we could dine at a relaxed pace; there was a great variety of ingredients that felt nourishing for the body, which we really appreciated. If we have the chance to visit Tateshina again, this is a Hotel we would definitely like to stay at.

I found this Accommodation while looking for a nearby place to stay on our way to Kamikochi. It’s a wonderful Accommodation in a quiet mountain village, and everything—the atmosphere, the meals, and the Onsen—was extremely satisfying. We visited with children, and I really appreciate their thoughtfulness, such as preparing the largest Room for us. Although it was near the end of the season, we were able to join the free firefly viewing event and saw about 10 fireflies—it was truly moving!! The Hida beef in the meal was tender, sweet, and absolutely delicious! The Onsen includes both simple spring water and mildly alkaline water; neither has a strong scent or feel, so it’s very refreshing. Some people might find it just slightly hot. The Room was spacious and relaxing, and even in late July it was cool at night—we could turn off the air conditioner, open the windows, and sleep comfortably. We will definitely be back!! *The only thing I noticed: I’m not sure whether it’s due to prefectural policy or the Accommodation’s policy, but there were many foreign staff members (Southeast Asian) working in the dining area. They were friendly and very kind so it didn’t bother us at all, but some guests may feel differently. If you’re concerned, you may want to contact them in advance.*

I stayed at another Accommodation in the same group not long ago, but this was my first return to Tamakiya in 10 years. Last time, discovering Abe Shuzo through the sake pairing was a real highlight, so I did it again this time. Since it was a special occasion, I decided to pay the extra fee and choose the optional premium sake course. It more than lived up to expectations—I truly enjoyed a wide range of excellent sakes, including some with a playful twist. The sommelier’s stories were fascinating, and I wished I could have listened even longer. I was traveling solo, but the staff were consistently courteous and attentive, no different from how they treated larger groups, which I really appreciated. The food was also outstanding: a course featuring plenty of local Niigata ingredients, with every dish delicious from appetizers to dessert. Next time, I’d love to stay in midwinter when there’s deep snow.

We stayed in the new wing this time. The Room layout, design, and atmosphere were excellent, and we were able to spend both nights very comfortably. The meals were very luxurious, but since we had a Multiple Night Stay, the buffet was the same on both days—if the main dish changed by day, it would have been even better. Above all, there are amusement parks and a zoo nearby, and since we traveled with children, it was a flawless five-star stay. Also, the Onsen offers a mixed-gender style where swimsuits are worn, so our whole family could bathe together and our kids were thrilled. We would like to visit again around the same time next year.

Although it was a last-minute trip, we had a very comfortable stay at this Hotel. The dinner buffet was excellent—Aizu local specialties and everything else were all delicious. My husband said it was the best buffet of any Hotel we have stayed at while traveling. The bath was also spacious and clean. We had a wonderful stay.

It was raining when we arrived, and the nearby parking lots were full, but staff were waiting at the entrance and assisted us. The Onsen had different temperatures in each bath, so we could relax at our own pace. The water quality was also excellent. The meals focused on locally sourced ingredients, and we enjoyed a wide variety of dishes. We had a very relaxing stay.

This trip also served as a celebration for my grandchild’s birthday. We chose this Hotel because it offers a child-friendly Plan and the Reviews said the food was delicious. We don’t often get the chance to do handheld fireworks, so being able to enjoy the fireworks included in the Plan made my grandchild very happy. For dinner, there was a kids’ buffet corner with a wide variety of options, and there was also a DIY hand-rolled sushi corner. Even my grandchild, who doesn’t usually eat much, happily ate the sushi they made themselves. There were some unique dishes, and overall everything was delicious. The main steak also tasted excellent—just as the Reviews said. The IKYU member–exclusive Eggs Benedict at breakfast was even better than I expected. The Onsen had both hot baths and very hot baths, which felt great. The changing room was also clean. The Room was Japanese-style, but I noticed some stains on the wall and that there wasn’t a sink in the toilet area. Overall, we were satisfied with this Hotel. All of the staff we met greeted us with smiles, making our stay very pleasant. If we have another opportunity, we would love to stay again. Thank you very much.
