This was my first stay, and the Facility was very clean. The staff were also wonderfully welcoming, and I had a great time. The Room was clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the lake right in front of us. It was also great to be able to watch various streaming videos on the large projector. I understand this can’t be helped in summer, but it was disappointing that there were so many insects on the outdoor terrace that we couldn’t really use it. The food was delicious as well, but I noticed that some drinks listed on the menu were sold out. It’s a small thing in itself, but details like this can give the impression that things aren’t being managed thoroughly. (In the end, though, it led me to try something new—so it worked out!)

Iya Bijin is an Accommodation famous for soba. I had carelessly forgotten this, and since my son has a severe buckwheat allergy, we made a last-minute request to remove all foods related to soba. During our stay, they took great care with the meals, and both dinner and breakfast were wonderful—such as ayu sashimi and dekomawashi—and my son ate so much it surprised even us. Of course, he had no allergic symptoms at all. Thank you very much.

We visited to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. It was a long drive from Yokohama to Nagano, but this was a wonderful Accommodation that truly made us glad we came. The in-room open-air bath was a little hot and needed some adjustment, but it was clean, spacious, and free of insects. The shampoo and conditioner also left our hair smooth and silky. (Some Ryokan at this level still leave your hair feeling rough.) All the staff who welcomed us were smiling, and during dinner the head chef served the main dish right at our table. Everything was delicious—made with local ingredients and carefully prepared with great attention to detail. On our way out, they even opened the souvenir shop in the main building earlier for us, so I was happy to be able to buy the souvenirs I wanted. My parents were very pleased as well, so we would love to visit again while they are still healthy.

I stayed at Hanaikada. The staff’s hospitality and attention to every detail made me truly glad I chose this Accommodation. I was able to relax, and both the meals and the baths were wonderful. Thank you very much.

Using aromatic vegetables, fish, and meat from the Kyoto area, each ingredient is prepared and served with the utmost care to preserve its natural fragrance, flavor, and texture in the best possible way. The chef’s evolving craft was truly impressive. I was also moved by the sommelier’s sincere dedication to wine. The cuisine feels perfectly suited to this one-of-a-kind Meiji-era mansion dining experience in Japan.

It was a very comfortable Accommodation with a high level of satisfaction. In particular, the hostess and staff provided service with just the right sense of distance, which made our stay truly pleasant. My father, who turns 95 this year, was also in great spirits. We will definitely visit again.

My best friend and I stayed for one night in a suite. The staff’s service was outstanding, and we received such warm, heartfelt hospitality. The meals were just as delicious as we’d heard—no, even better than expected. When you travel, you want to enjoy local specialties, right? The dishes here use plenty of ingredients from Chiba, and enjoying them while looking out at the sea of Chiba is pure luxury… simply unforgettable! We were told the ingredients change with the seasons, so next time I’d love to visit in a season other than summer. Also, if anyone planning to stay is reading this Review, please be sure to check out the booklet on the bedside table: a hand-written guide by the proprietress introducing Chiba and providing information about the Accommodation. Each page is carefully made, and it really conveyed her love for the Accommodation and her warm hospitality—it left a lasting impression. She also left us a note with the sunrise time, so we woke up early and watched it from the Hotel deck. It was truly beautiful, so I’m attaching photos from that moment. It became an unforgettable trip to Kamogawa. Thank you very much!

This was my first stay. With only three groups per day, it’s a private pet-friendly Accommodation with a gentle, welcoming atmosphere. The cuisine was excellent, as you’d expect from a Ryokan—especially the sesame tofu and soba. Meals were served in a private dining room. Our dog happily ate the dog pizza. We stayed in the “Kuu-chan” tatami Room on the first floor, which felt a bit too spacious, but it was comfortable with no odors. The bath was a private reservable bath assigned to each Room. Since we visited in August, it was too hot outside to do much. We heard bears may appear around places like Enakyo Gorge. One downside was that a belly band (manner belt) is required inside the Room.

I live in Kobe and have been hiking Mt. Rokko and the surrounding mountains frequently for many years. I often passed by “Ocean Terrace Ajisai” and had been curious about it for a long time. After reading the Reviews, the food looked absolutely delicious. So I made a Reservation for our wedding anniversary. The meals more than lived up to their reputation—beautifully presented, wonderfully flavorful, and truly outstanding. Both dinner and breakfast left us happily stuffed. Everything was delicious, but I was especially impressed by how surprising and exquisite the fig dengaku and peach potage were—and it was my first time in my life to be genuinely amazed at how incredibly good Narazuke could be. The dashimaki tamago that appeared with a burst of steam when they opened the bamboo mat was also exceptional. Everyone at the Accommodation was kind and attentive, sharing enjoyable stories that made us feel at ease. The view was slightly hazy when we arrived, but when I woke up around midnight and stepped out onto the terrace, there were the night lights from Kobe to Osaka—and a full moon! I was thrilled by both our good luck and its beauty. And in the morning, seeing trees wrapped in mist—Mt. Rokko like I’d never seen before—moved me again… I would love to stay again in a different season. When making the Reservation, I saw the Room size in square meters and assumed it would be compact, but I must have misread it—it felt very spacious and relaxing, which was wonderful too.

I’d been wanting to visit for a long time, and I treated myself to a Multiple Night Stay solo to truly relax. I’m so glad I chose this place! I’ve stayed at many Hotels and Ryokans in Japan and abroad, and this has become one of my top three favorites. Everything used throughout the Hotel is carefully selected and meticulously maintained. The staff were warm and kind in such a natural way—it was genuinely soothing. And the food—absolutely unforgettable! I had all three meals here, and if only I had another stomach, I would have loved to try even more from the menu. There were plenty of fresh local vegetables; everything was truly delicious, beautifully presented with great taste, and above all, you could feel the chef’s love in every dish. It makes perfect sense that so many guests return again and again. It was hot in midsummer, but I rented an e-bike, rode to the beach, and went for a swim. Just as rumored, the water was crystal clear—the beach was stunning—and it left me feeling completely refreshed. I will definitely come back in another season. I stayed here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. My friend asked me to choose the Accommodation, and I booked Takitei without hesitation. We were extremely satisfied! The Room, baths, meals, and attentive service were all wonderful. Since it was a birthday, we also received such warm hospitality, and my friend was truly delighted. My friend especially loved the jibuni served at dinner. Thanks to you, I was able to spend a wonderful time with friends I hadn’t seen in a while. I’m filled with gratitude. I would love to visit again.

I stayed here during my trip. They kindly stored my luggage very early before check-in, so I could enjoy sightseeing comfortably before heading to the Accommodation. The Room was in a separate annex, and you reach it by passing through the dining corridor—an interesting layout. The annex itself was wonderful. With a truly traditional Japanese atmosphere, it overlooked the garden and Lake Shinji, and it was quiet and very relaxing. I visited in summer so I couldn’t see it, but I was told that in winter you can view the sunset from the Room. The hot spring water felt soft and pleasant. Every dish was delicious, and in addition to the standard menu list, there were separate notes explaining the care put into each dish, which made the meal even more enjoyable. It was also great that coffee service was available in the lounge until late after dinner. Because this is such an excellent Accommodation, there’s only one thing that would have made it even better: an extension cord. When charging my phone at night, there weren’t many accessible outlets, so I had to unplug a lamp at times. Still, this is a minor point—I believe this Accommodation is what made my first trip to Shimane so enjoyable. Thank you very much.

We were able to stay at Kashiwaya again this year as a family, and we had a truly wonderful time. With only a few Rooms, we hardly ran into other guests even in the baths, so we could quietly enjoy the excellent waters of Bessho Onsen. The meals are gently seasoned and make the most of local ingredients, and no matter when we visit, it’s a mysterious Accommodation where we always sleep soundly at night. We look forward to visiting again.

This was my second stay at this Hotel, and once again everything was perfect. The hospitality is outstanding, and every member of the staff is truly impeccable. The interior design is tasteful, the meals are absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend this Hotel. Having lived abroad for many years and stayed at many top-class Hotels around the world, Kinugawa Kanaya Hotel is one of my favorites.

This was my first stay at “Kaze no Kaori MORI,” an Accommodation I had been especially interested in among all-inclusive properties. The maisonette-style Room was more than spacious enough for two, and the large bed—so wide even with both arms outstretched there was still room to spare—allowed us to relax and sleep soundly. Dinner featured creative French cuisine, with unique pairings and techniques that brought out the best in the fresh ingredients; every dish was delicious. Thank you as well for your thoughtful attention to the ingredients we had requested to avoid in advance. During bar time, we enjoyed drinks along with a platter of prosciutto and cheese. We were surprised by the generous amount of prosciutto (a special service?). Breakfast was Japanese-style and equally excellent. My wife especially loved the chawanmushi with sesame tofu. The lounge also offered a great variety, which we enjoyed—especially the gelato. Because there are not many Rooms, we were able to use the private Onsen baths multiple times at our preferred times. By opening the push-button window, we could soak in the Onsen while feeling surrounded by forest. We also used the open-air bath in our Room before going to bed. Looking up at the night sky while soaking, we were delighted to see far more stars than expected. Both Onsens allowed us to enjoy nature and left us feeling refreshed. The two-shot photo we received at checkout (taken during dinner) will be a wonderful keepsake. Thank you very much. I would also like to express my gratitude again for the IKYU Diamond Member–exclusive souvenir gift we received upon arrival. From arrival to departure, we were truly moved by the warm hospitality of all staff members. One staff member even waved goodbye with big arm swings—it really touched us. If given another opportunity, we would love to return.

I stayed here with a friend this March and was so impressed that I returned in July with my family (as a couple). The dining menu had changed to a summer menu, so we were able to enjoy it again with a fresh perspective. With only eight parties staying at a time, this is a hidden-gem Accommodation: the Rooms are spacious, yet limited to two adults per Room. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to relax and unwind in peace. On the other hand, you won’t find sweeping views of Sagami Bay like those from the balcony of a high-rise Hotel (you can see the sea and Oshima Island, but they feel distant), nor is there an expansive garden. There is also no Shuttle Service from the station, so I recommend it for guests who don’t mind that. It’s well suited for making memories as a couple or with your best friend, and for celebrating anniversaries or special occasions. The in-Room open-air bath is spacious, and after bathing you can relax on chairs on the balcony. The food is delicious and very generous in portion size—and the timing of each course being served is excellent. The bedding was comfortable and I slept soundly. Considering this level of quality and service, the Plan pricing is reasonable. I would definitely like to return again.

I first learned about this Accommodation in a travel magazine and had wanted to visit for years. From the moment I made my Reservation, the staff reached out several times with thoughtful messages, which felt truly warm and welcoming. I’m grateful for their kind advice on transportation as well as nearby recommended spots and restaurants. Set on a vast property, the Accommodation offers wonderful views, and I was thrilled to encounter deer while strolling around. The Onsen had excellent water quality, the Facility was well maintained, and I was able to unwind and soothe my fatigue while enjoying the scenery. A local regular I spoke with in the bath said they stay here every month—I couldn’t help but envy them. It was an outstanding Accommodation where both mind and body could fully relax. I would love to visit again. Every staff member was gentle and attentive, and their hospitality made it possible for me to truly feel at ease throughout my stay—each day felt happy. Everything was always clean, and I had a very comfortable stay! All of the staff provided wonderful hospitality. This time, I chose the “Tajima Beef Colorful Kaiseki” course! They carefully explained each dish, which made it even more enjoyable. I was able to fully enjoy Kinosaki at night.

This was my second stay. Last time, I stayed during a snowy season, so this time I was able to relax until dinner and fully enjoy the sight of green trees swaying and the gentle calls of evening cicadas from my clean, refined Room. The meals here are delicious both in the morning and in the evening, with plenty of vegetables. Of course, the fish and meat were also excellent—everything was flawless. Above all, the staff’s smiles were wonderful, and their service was attentive and professional, which made me feel truly happy. I will definitely come back to stay again when I have time. I loved the exceptionally quiet scenery. The service was also very attentive. Everything was spotless, and the scent of the tatami was soothing. The flowers on display were beautifully arranged, and I was impressed by the furnishings as well. The food was as delicious as its reputation suggests. The bath amenities were excellent too—ReFa showerheads and hair dryers, and POLA products. It would be perfect if the bath were an Onsen. Every detail felt pleasant, making this a truly wonderful trip. It’s an Accommodation I’d recommend to others and would love to stay at again.
