We stayed in the “Japanese-Western Style Room with Open-Air Hot Spring Bath.” It’s not cheap, but it was absolutely worth it—an incredibly satisfying stay! ■ Room & private open-air bath The room was beautifully luxurious, and the view from it was outstanding. There were both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and I loved that I could adjust the temperature of the open-air bath myself. I set it a bit lukewarm and enjoyed a long soak while taking in the scenery. The room also came with a great selection of complimentary drinks, and having one out on the balcony while admiring the view felt like pure luxury. ■ Scenic public bath (a must!) The in-room baths were amazing, but please make sure to visit the large public bath as well! I’ve been to many hot springs, and the view from this one is among the very best. There are two baths with separate men’s/women’s hours (they rotate), so I highly recommend trying both. The daytime views are spectacular—but nighttime is something else entirely. Everything around you is pitch-black, to the point where you can barely see anything at first. As your eyes adjust, mountain silhouettes emerge with an almost overwhelming presence—like giants looming close by. Just when you think “This is scary,” you look up…and there’s a sky full of stars! It had been ages since I’d seen stars that beautiful—I was so moved I honestly wished they would turn off the lights in the bathing area. ■ Dining & service Every dish was refined and delicious. That said, younger guests might find the portions a little light (though drinking may be part of it—my spouse and I don’t drink). Also, I would have loved to have a big pickled plum at breakfast as well. The staff service was excellent throughout—we were impressed from start to finish. ■ Access / other notes - The roads on the way in and the parking lot are spacious, so even larger vehicles should be fine (we drove a BMW 2-door coupe about 5 m long). However, if it snows in winter, it may not melt quickly and could be challenging. - It’s surrounded by nature, so insects do appear. My wife said that with check-in at 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM there still wasn’t enough time to fully enjoy everything—and she truly didn’t want to leave. For me, Hita used to be just somewhere we passed through—but thanks to this inn, it has become a destination in itself. We will definitely return!

Please remove your shoes upon arrival; guests generally walk around in socks. I loved it from that moment on! The room felt modern, was quite spacious, and very clean—so impressive. All-you-can-drink is available from check-in until 21:00. I don’t drink alcohol myself, but there was a great selection and my companion was very happy. I was a bit disappointed that the “milk” seemed more like a milk beverage, but there were plenty of other drinks. It felt wonderful to enjoy drinks while soaking in the footbath. For dinner we chose the top course, and it was my first time having such amazing meat!!! The salad bar was also very satisfying. The foreign staff member who explained everything to us seemed sweet and new at the job—I couldn’t help but want to cheer her on. Her smile was lovely! Not just her—everyone on staff was kind and had great smiles. There are two baths: the “Beauty Bath” and the “Health Bath.” The Beauty Bath is definitely more exciting. There were ReFa shower heads with a mist setting, and the hair dryers were Panasonic and ReFa as well. It was also nice that you can borrow shampoo. I’d seen reviews saying there wasn’t much for breakfast, but I was satisfied! The curry had a Japanese-style flavor and was delicious. The croquettes were great too—I ate a lot. I also loved being able to eat lots of cherry tomatoes at both dinner and breakfast (I wonder where they’re from). Maybe it just happened to be that way during our stay, but most guests seemed older, and since there aren’t many rooms overall, it felt calm and relaxing—which I really liked. I’d love to stay again. It’s also nice that you can play park golf—I didn’t try it this time, but maybe I should have!

This was my first stay, and from the initial phone call to the moment we left, every staff member’s service was warm, attentive, and flawless. Because I have dietary restrictions, there are usually items in the standard menu that I cannot eat, but this time you made thoughtful adjustments so I could enjoy everything—deliciously and without leaving anything behind. I am truly grateful for the kitchen team’s consideration despite how busy you were. The room layout was also very well designed and easy to use, with a Japanese-style tatami area and a Western-style bedroom with beds, plus an open-air bath and wash area arranged thoughtfully. Although it was quite windy, we were still able to enjoy the private open-air bath in our room. The public bath was always clean, with amenities and towels fully stocked, so we could relax without any stress and fully enjoy the infinity open-air bath. On our final day at checkout, when we requested a taxi we were told it would be a 40-minute wait; however, the front desk staff kindly called around for us, and in the end a taxi arrived in about 10 minutes. We sincerely appreciate your help even during such a busy time. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

The parking lot is spacious, so there's no need to worry about parking even if you check in late. The Room and Facility were excellent, allowing for a comfortable stay. I would love to use this place again if I have the chance.

Unfortunately, due to the rain we couldn’t have a BBQ, but we still had a wonderful time. The villa alone was very comfortable, and we made many great memories. We really appreciated that apple juice, wine, rice, miso soup, and more were provided. Everything was delicious. The Onsen was also excellent; although it rained a bit, everyone went in twice—once at night and once in the morning. We thought we wouldn’t be able to roast marshmallows because of the rain, but the owner showed us how to do it using a siphon coffee maker instead! Next time, we’d love to stay again when the weather is sunny.

I stayed for one night and two days. Rooms & Amenities → The in-room open-air bath was clean and very relaxing. Hospitality & Service → I was warmly welcomed from check-in, and the staff responded pleasantly whenever I needed anything, which made me very happy. Onsen Baths → The large public bath was spacious, and the outdoor open-air bath area was also clean. I also appreciated the service of having drinks and towels available in front of the sauna room. Dining → I only had breakfast, but it was delicious.

Just as when I stayed before COVID, I was able to enjoy a wonderful time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Unfortunately, it was raining when I arrived, but the staff dried my wet umbrella and delivered it to my room. The free-flowing hinoki bath is surrounded by greenery, and the silky-smooth water refreshes both body and mind. At Nichols Bar, I enjoyed a cocktail made with locally grown kabosu—it was wonderfully refreshing. For breakfast, I also enjoyed plenty of ingredients unique to Yufuin. Thank you for taking such great care of me.

I chose this inn for my solo trip because it had great reviews. It was a little disappointing that there were no vending machines on the premises, but the front desk offered complimentary drinks until 24:00, and I could take them to my room, so it wasn’t much of an inconvenience. Above all, the meals were delicious. I couldn’t finish the Japanese-style paella at dinner, so they made it into rice balls for me to enjoy later in my room as a late-night snack. It was a service I’d never experienced before, and I was truly impressed. I would definitely like to stay here again. Thank you very much.

We stayed to celebrate a birthday anniversary. The hot spring water was excellent, and the amenities were well stocked. In the bathroom refrigerator, there were small sherbet treats (for heatstroke prevention?), along with water and tea. At dinner, there was a surprise that made us very happy, and we were able to spend this special time in a meaningful way. Thank you very much.

The location is very convenient, close to the station. The hotel is new, the room was clean, and the service was excellent. The separate pajama set felt great on the skin and was very comfortable. When I went to the breakfast area, most of the guests were foreigners (mainly Westerners), though it may have just been by chance. It was a bit disappointing that a neighboring building was right in front of the window, so we had to keep the curtains closed and couldn’t enjoy any view. The bathtub was spacious enough to stretch out my legs.

I was impressed by the staff’s drive to improve. I was especially amazed by the chef’s thorough attention to detail—even down to the choice of serving dishes. I was also struck by the president’s wonderful spirit when I previously stayed at Takinami, and it’s simply incredible that an even more upgraded Accommodation has been created. I would love to visit again and enjoy your outstanding, carefully crafted cuisine. Thank you very much.

We stopped by on our way back from a memorial interment and were completely exhausted, but this Accommodation was satisfying in every way and truly helped us unwind. Although it is a little far from the station, it is surrounded by greenery, and we also liked the natural, not overly manicured garden. The facilities and service were attentive, and we appreciated having pajamas provided in addition to yukata. The spacious indoor bath that can also be enjoyed like a semi-open-air bath was wonderful. The bedding was very comfortable, and even my husband from Kansai praised the meals highly. I had little appetite, but I was still able to enjoy the food. All of the staff were warm and welcoming, making this an Accommodation our whole family was happy with. Thank you for taking such good care of us—we would love to visit again.

We stayed here for one night during our Yokohama and Kamakura trip. It’s conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from Yokohama Station, with plenty of restaurants and department stores nearby. We left our luggage before check-in and went sightseeing in Yokohama. Since the front desk is set further inside, it might be a little hard to find at first. We chose this hotel because we wanted a place with separate bath and toilet, and a recommended breakfast. For breakfast, you choose a main dish and the side dishes are buffet-style. You can pick from a variety of small plates. The room was spacious and very clean, and we could fill the tub with hot water and enjoy a relaxing soak. With its brown-toned interior, the room had a calm atmosphere that made it easy to unwind. The bakery in the lobby is highly recommended! Definitely give it a try—we even bought some to take home at check-out. We’d love to stay here again when we visit Yokohama. This was our first time using this travel site, and by using points we were able to stay at a great price. It’s an upscale hotel, and the quality absolutely lived up to expectations.

I was able to spend a truly luxurious time surrounded by peaceful, lush greenery. The hospitality was outstanding. The Room and the meals—everything exceeded my expectations. I’d love to visit again in a different season.

I never expected to find such an exceptionally refined Ryokan in the quiet seaside town of Esashi. From the moment you step inside, there’s a sense of quality in the air, and the staff’s attentive, warm hospitality gently eases away any travel fatigue. The cuisine fully showcases the blessings of Esashi’s sea and land, with care and artistry evident in every dish. The seafood freshness, in particular, is outstanding—I truly felt the authentic flavor you can only experience by eating it here in Hokkaido. Overall, Ryotei Gunrai is an Accommodation so complete that the stay itself feels like a work of art. I’ve visited many Accommodations across Hokkaido, but personally I consider this my No. 1 Ryokan in Hokkaido. This was my second stay, and it confirmed it. The tranquility, cuisine, and service are all harmonized at a remarkably high level—an extraordinary place that makes you certain you’ll want to return again.

Although the weather was poor throughout due to the typhoon, it actually made for an almost private stay. My daughter had seen it in a magazine and was looking forward to it, and it was just as relaxing as we had hoped. The hot stone spa, baths, and meals were all exactly as described in the magazine and brochures—nothing to complain about—but above all, the staff’s thoughtfulness was outstanding, and even with just one night we were able to relax both physically and mentally. I was coming down with a slight cold, so I truly appreciated the front desk lady’s subtle kindness and concern. The next day brought clear skies for the first time in a while, and breakfast while enjoying the wonderful ocean view was amazing. Thank you also for accommodating our request during the ride back to the station by stopping at a nearby popular bakery.

I have stayed here several times. I couldn’t clearly remember which room I had stayed in before, so I chose the “Migiwa” room based on intuition. At the time of booking it was a standard suite, but by the time of my stay it had been changed to a sauna suite—an unexpected upgrade that felt very lucky. Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy two types of hot springs (Kinsen and Ginsen), as well as the sauna and pool. I’ve stayed at properties with private saunas before, but this was my first time using this type of sauna at Hoshine. It was the highest quality and best one I’ve experienced so far. They provided everything needed for the sauna, including ponchos and hats, and even had ice cream, Oropo drinks, and herbal tea—perfectly prepared. Compared with my first stay, the dining and lounge services have gradually become a bit more modest, but I still think they are more than satisfying. We were also blessed with great weather, and it was such an enjoyable stay that time flew by. I will be back again. Thank you very much.

This was my first stay, and it was an excellent property. It’s a new, sophisticated hotel, and every area of the facility—from the sense of vertical space to the way shadows are used and the carefully designed indirect lighting—made me want to stay there all day. The dining experience was also wonderful, with well-spaced seating, thoughtful staff check-ins, perfect timing of service, and clear explanations of each dish. I stayed over the weekend. Check-in took a little time due to assisting other guests, but the staff handled everything courteously. Thanks to this site’s perk, my room was upgraded, and I was able to relax in a spacious setting. Even though it was a weekend stay, the hotel was quiet overall, and I truly enjoyed a peaceful hotel experience. I would definitely like to stay again.

The meals are very healthy, using locally sourced ingredients. However, many dishes require guests to cook for themselves, such as shabu-shabu and kushikatsu, and they also feel like dishes that even we homemakers could make. In other words, it seemed there were few dishes with a creative twist. Using freshly harvested vegetables and eggs, I would like the head chef to offer more elaborate dishes. The Room and bath were wonderful, and we were able to relax while fully enjoying nature. This time, when we asked, additional towels were brought free of charge; however, since we bathe in the Onsen multiple times, we would be happy if two towels per person could be provided from the start.
