We stayed at Fugaku Gunjo as a couple during a summer holiday we were able to take at short notice. Away from the bustle of everyday life, we were able to spend unhurried time together in a quiet setting. Even though it was a short stay, it felt deeply fulfilling. Although we were blessed with clear weather on the day of our stay, the typical summer haze meant we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly during the daytime. Then, around 6:00 the next morning, I happened to glance outside and there it was—Mt. Fuji standing out in crisp detail. Its powerful, beautiful summer presence—so different from its snow-capped 모습—left a lasting impression. Listening to cicadas, simply taking in the view and enjoying time doing nothing. Even moments when we would normally keep ourselves busy felt like a luxury here. It was an experience unique to Fugaku Gunjo, where only the sounds of nature blend into the stillness. The dining was also exceptional. The French kaiseki dinner showcased each ingredient with great care, and every course was a pleasure. Japanese and French elements came together naturally, creating refined dishes that remained enjoyable through to the end. Breakfast was equally memorable. The rice cooked in a traditional pot was truly delicious—we realized we had finished every last bite between us without even noticing. We also learned that some of their rice and vegetables are grown on their own farm, and we were impressed by how seriously this Accommodation values its ingredients from the very source. Not just presentation but attention to these details is what elevates the entire stay. What especially stayed with us this time was the hospitality of all staff members. From Shuttle Service to check-in and dining, everyone we met was friendly and welcoming with genuine smiles—and their sense of distance felt perfectly comfortable as well. Their warm hospitality never felt formal or scripted; it put us at ease again and again throughout our stay. Though it was only one night and two days, everything from arrival to departure felt consistently pleasant. Beyond the spectacular views, beautiful rooms, and wonderful food—from growing ingredients on their own farm to thoughtful attentiveness by staff—you can feel careful dedication throughout this Accommodation. Looking back on this trip, it feels less like “an Accommodation you stay at for sightseeing somewhere else,” and more like “a place you travel for in order to spend time here.” Next time, we’d love to visit in another season—and enjoy a trip where staying at Fugaku Gunjo itself is our main purpose once again as a couple.

I always appreciate your flexibility in both Okayama and Kurashiki, and I’ve been able to enjoy a comfortable stay. I’m also satisfied with the breakfast. In Kurashiki, the bath isn’t very large, which is a bit disappointing. Also, with more tourists visiting the nearby Bikan Historical Quarter, if you check in a little late there may be no parking available. Be careful when using nearby parking—if you choose one without a daily maximum rate, you could be shocked by the total when you pay in the morning.

The “Small-portion Gourmet Kaiseki” was just the right amount for seniors, and over our two-night stay the dinner was excellent in terms of ingredients, preparation, and seasoning. The breakfast also offered a variety of small dishes, and we were very satisfied from the morning with both dried fish and sashimi. The Onsen, Facility, and Room were clean and well maintained, and the staff were extremely attentive throughout our two-night stay. True to its name, it provided a five-star experience and made our trip to Izu a wonderful one.

This was my second stay. Once again, I felt the staff’s warm hospitality in so many moments, and it made for a truly wonderful visit. Both dinner and breakfast for solo diners were delicious. Since this trip also celebrated my mother’s birthday, I was especially looking forward to the cake I had requested. It looked beautiful, the figs were wonderfully fresh and juicy, and it was genuinely delicious. It was light and easy to eat, so even though we were full after dinner, we finished it in no time. I also loved the welcome amenity sweets so much that I bought some to enjoy after my stay. I had planned to take the herbal cordial home as well, but after trying a sample I couldn’t stop—I ended up drinking it all during my stay because it was that good! At breakfast, the carrot smoothie left a particularly strong impression. It was sweet and delicious—I even looked up the same one afterward. Everything—from the food to the amenities—showed such care and attention to detail that they were things I wanted to keep enjoying even after leaving. I also used the bath salts included as a Well-being Room benefit right away; they warmed me from deep within and felt wonderful. The bed was very comfortable too. I usually have trouble falling asleep when traveling, but this time I drifted off quickly. One small point: I found the lighting controls a bit hard to understand. At night, I wanted to turn on only the toilet light, but couldn’t get it to work as intended and felt a little confused. If it were more intuitive, it would be even more comfortable. Once again, we had such a relaxing time together and made lovely memories with my mother. We would love to return.

Located right in front of Sakata Station, this was a very clean Hotel. At the breakfast buffet, we enjoyed local Yamagata specialties such as “dashi,” “imoni” (taro stew), “mukisoba,” and Sakata ramen. Perhaps because of the season, there was also squid sashimi, making it a very satisfying meal. I rated the bath lower only because our Room had a unit bath and we did not use the Onsen, so I gave an average score. That said, the bathroom was very clean as well. Opinions may vary, but I personally liked that there were two types of showers. It’s a Hotel I would like to stay at again. If I had to mention one downside, smoking areas are limited to outdoors and the 3rd floor only, which may feel inconvenient for smokers.

We stay here every year, and since the rebranding and reopening, both the cuisine and the service have been taken to an even higher level—making for a truly satisfying stay. I was genuinely impressed by the chef’s careful selection of ingredients and the time and effort put into each dish. Even breakfast featured thoughtfully prepared items, and our food-loving family was more than satisfied. Being able to see the chef at the end of the meal and exchange a few words made dining even more special. The course itself reflected the chef’s warm personality, which makes us look forward to our next visit. We would love to return in a different season. Thank you for making our family vacation such a meaningful time.

For dinner, we chose the luxurious full-course Maezawa beef option. Every dish was absolutely delicious, but the portions were honestly too large for us (next time, the standard Plan will be more than enough). The open-air bath in our Room and the open-air bath at the large public bath were both excellent. From check-in to departure, the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout—this is a wonderful Onsen Ryokan that makes you want to come back.

This was my second visit since coming in May. My dog (my beloved “daughter”) was thrilled. It was about 5°C cooler than down below, but the late-summer heat was still intense, and it felt hot in the sun. My dog ran around the nature-filled dog run and had a great time. Because it was a weekday after the Obon holidays, it wasn’t crowded, so we could relax and enjoy ourselves. The building was clean, and the Room was also very clean. The large public bath felt like we had it to ourselves, so we could unwind and fully enjoy it. (We went twice.) The food was delicious as well. Since it’s close to home, it’s easy to plan travel time both ways, and for me this Facility has an ideal location. I’d love to take another overnight trip with my dog. All of the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Thank you very much.

My wife and I stayed for two nights over a weekend trip. Unfortunately, it rained, so we couldn’t fully enjoy sightseeing in Kanazawa as planned. However, the time we spent at the Hotel was incredibly comfortable, and thanks to the wonderful lounge and the thoughtful care of all the staff, it turned into a truly satisfying stay. We arrived at the Hotel around noon. Our car was taken care of with valet service, which made it easy for us to head to Omicho Market. We enjoyed rock oysters, Noto beef croquettes, grilled scallop skewers, and more. When we returned to the Hotel around 2:00 p.m., even though it was before check-in time, we were kindly told that our Room was already ready. The Room was spotless and had a calm atmosphere—such a welcome gesture after walking in the rain. What I had been looking forward to most during this stay was the club lounge. We were amazed by how well stocked it was: their famous cakes, sandwiches, a wide selection of drinks, and even Häagen-Dazs ice cream. The evening offerings were also excellent—far beyond what you’d expect from “just a lounge,” and more than enough for us as dinner. We were also excited about breakfast. Although we had to wait a little due to full seating, the food exceeded our expectations. It felt distinctly Kanazawa-like as well, and we were very satisfied. Above all else, what left the strongest impression was the staff’s smiles and hospitality. Throughout our two-night stay, every staff member greeted us with genuine warmth, and their attentive care comforted us again and again. Even when checking out and leaving, there was one last pleasant surprise. When our car was brought to the entrance via valet service, chilled mineral water had been placed in the cup holders. My wife and I were truly touched by such thoughtfulness until the very end. Since we couldn’t do as much sightseeing in Kanazawa due to the rain this time around، our time at this Hotel became an especially memorable part of our trip. When we visit Kanazawa again، we would definitely love to stay here. To all of your staff، thank you very much for an amazing two nights and three days.

Day two of my Kagawa trip with my new wife. We headed to “Auberge de Oishi,” an Accommodation I had long hoped to bring her to ever since my previous stay. The oyster dishes I enjoyed a few years ago weren’t available this time due to recent climate-related difficulties in sourcing ingredients, but even so, the cuisine here continues to exceed expectations every visit. It’s not simply a lineup of expensive ingredients—this auberge’s true appeal is the chance to encounter an entirely new dining experience. The space and interior design reflect the owner’s meticulous attention to detail. It has a distinctive atmosphere and palette you won’t find in commercialized large-scale luxury Hotels or typical tourist spots. The staff, including the madam, are friendly yet refined, making your stay all the more fulfilling. Next time, I’d like to return and invite my wife’s parents as well, staying in one of the newly built rooms on the hilltop. If you’re visiting Kagawa, this is a place worth experiencing at least once.

We booked Hana no Sato with the Anniversary Plan for my boyfriend’s birthday trip. After we arrived, we were taking a photo of the Accommodation sign at the entrance when a staff member warmly greeted us and offered to take our picture. From there, everything—from check-in to being shown to our Room—was handled with such care and courtesy. We were already saying to each other how amazing the service was! The Room was fantastic, with a bed larger than a double and an incredible open-air bath. Dinner was the Nagi Wagyu kaiseki course, with steak, shabu-shabu, and many other dishes—so much food that we could barely finish it, and we were completely satisfied. During dinner, they placed a cake in our refrigerator for us, and the surprise was a huge success! (I requested it by email in advance; their reply was quick and very helpful.) At check-out as well, they kindly saw us off all the way to the exit. This was truly the best service we’ve ever experienced at any Accommodation—I honestly didn’t want to leave. The international staff also spoke excellent Japanese and were wonderful. We will definitely stay again! Thank you so much!!!

Located just a short distance from Horyu-ji Temple, the building was new and very clean. As there were few guests on the day of our stay, we were upgraded to the West Wing. The bath was at a perfect temperature, and breakfast the next morning was delicious—this was our favorite Accommodation of the trip. On the Horyu-ji tour, the guide’s explanations were excellent, and the two hours flew by. This is an Accommodation we definitely want to visit again. It truly became a valuable and memorable journey.

I originally planned to stay for one night and then move to another Accommodation, but it was so comfortable that I extended my stay for a Multiple Night Stay. The property was very clean, the air conditioning worked well, and the view was beautiful. Breakfast was carefully prepared, and on the second day they changed the menu. They also provided options for children. During my stay, I enjoyed coffee, and in the evening I had a little alcohol as well. It was a wonderful stay. The view from the Room was great, and the Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Thank you very much.

Due to bad weather, we changed our travel destination and ended up staying here at short notice as a family of five. Everyone except the person who made the Reservation wasn’t very enthusiastic until we arrived, but our stay here won them over and they were extremely satisfied. We felt truly relaxed by the meals, the atmosphere of the Room, and the hospitality. Personally, I was thrilled to find several types of Isamu Noguchi lighting in the traditional Japanese house-style Room. Next time, I’d love to spend time here during the rainy season or when the fresh greenery is at its best.

Thank you very much for a wonderfully comfortable Multiple Night Stay of three nights. When I returned from shopping, a male staff member in the lobby kindly asked, “Shall I take your luggage to your Room first?” Thanks to that, I was able to relax and enjoy sweets and coffee at the café. He was an excellent staff member. As expected of Okura Hotel. I will be staying for another three-night Multiple Night Stay at the beginning of the year, so I look forward to seeing you again.

We stayed for two nights with our adult son and daughter, as a couple, and our 7 kg dog. The Room size was just right—not too big or too small. At night we laid out the futons, played cards, and enjoyed relaxing family time together for the first time in a while. There is an indoor dog run in the building, and an outdoor dog run right in front of the Accommodation; both were clean and felt safe to use. Above all, every dish was delicious. I wanted to eat everything, but there was so much food—in the best way possible. The whole simmered golden eye snapper, yellowtail shabu-shabu, grilled meat, sashimi, and various small side dishes were all excellent. All staff were polite and very pleasant, making it easy to talk with them. If I had to mention minor points: I would have liked a brief explanation of the Facilities at check-in, and it was disappointing that the self-serve coffee machine only dispensed hot water. If I’m being picky, I personally would have liked welcome sweets and a box of tissues in the Room. My husband and son said it would be perfect if there were a sauna in the bath (lol). We were also very happy about the complimentary beer and shochu service for the Obon holiday period. Overall, this was an excellent Accommodation for staying with family while bringing a dog. We’d love to return.

The Facility is new, and I had a very pleasant stay. All the staff were kind, and the calm atmosphere was truly relaxing... The complimentary snacks in the refrigerator also helped soothe my fatigue from the extreme heat... I stayed on a Friday, and the bath was almost private, so I could relax and fully enjoy it. Everything was spotless and very well maintained. It was my first time staying at Dormy Inn, but I’d like to try other locations as well. Also, you should definitely add breakfast! The quality was beyond what you’d expect from a Business Hotel. Everything was carefully prepared and delicious. I’d love to stay again.

This was my second stay. I thought it was amazing last time, but this time was even better!! The building is very clean, and everything is spotless wherever you look. The eggplant soup at dinner was shockingly delicious!! The crispy grilled tilefish is unbelievably good no matter how many times I have it. All the staff were smiling, kind, and attentive. We really appreciated all the thoughtful help during both dinner and breakfast. On our way out, a gentleman who seemed to be the manager was also very helpful—I can’t thank you enough. This is an Accommodation I can recommend to everyone. Thank you very much. We’ll be back again.

The Room was spacious and had a veranda-like deck called the Tsukimidai, with a nice view and the ocean visible in the distance. Meals were served in the Room, and every dish was delicious—we finished everything at both breakfast and dinner. However, it was disappointing that the drinks in the refrigerator were expensive. The Onsen also felt very open; while I did wonder if it might be visible from somewhere, I was still able to bathe comfortably. Another bath area was spacious, and the water in the roofed open-air bath left my skin feeling moisturized like lotion. Inside the building, it seems to have been expanded many times over the years, so some areas are a bit confusing, and many guests seemed to get lost. There were only a few souvenirs for sale, and there were no Facilities such as karaoke or table tennis, but it had an old-fashioned Ryokan atmosphere that we really enjoyed.

Once again, from the Reservation stage onward, your courteous and kind service was outstanding. The Room, Onsen, and meals were all excellent, but above all, the staff’s hospitality is wonderful and makes me glad I come every time. In particular, the staff member who assists us in the private dining room is always exceptional. The male staff members on our previous visits were also excellent, and this time the female staff member was just as wonderful—her explanations were easy to understand, and her attentive service made it a pleasure to enjoy a delicious meal. We will definitely visit again, and we appreciate your continued support. Thank you very much again for this stay.
