This time, as a repeat guest, I brought my son along to match his visit home. At the same price, we chose the early-booking perk and upgraded to a sashimi upgrade Plan. That choice was absolutely right—the sweet shrimp and whelk were simply delicious!! The other dishes were also perfectly seasoned, and the portions weren’t too large, so we could finish everything. Each dish was carefully prepared, and we were very satisfied. Breakfast was great too—the hearth-cooked rice timed to our meal was delicious. My husband prefers firmer rice, so it seemed a bit soft for him. I’d love to visit again just for the food.

We stayed here for the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival. The building seems old, but the Room, floors, and Facility are clean. The meals are very delicious. There was plenty of rice, vegetables, and side dishes, and we ended up eating too much at every meal. The Onsen has several types of baths, so you can relax and enjoy it comfortably. We would love to stay here again for the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival next year.

A luxury to soak in the hot water while listening to Japanese bush warblers during the day and a chorus of frogs at night. The spring-inspired meals were also delicious and truly enjoyable. There aren’t any particularly special amenities or services, but everything feels comfortable—from walking barefoot on the tatami floors throughout the property to the subtle aroma in the air—and it’s genuinely relaxing. The building seems old, but it’s kept very clean, with no faults at all. It was so quiet that I could clearly hear the pleasant snoring from the next room—perhaps part of its charm. The Onsen is, of course, wonderful as well.\nI would definitely love to visit again.

We visited as a family of four, meeting up at Yamanashishi Station with our eldest son who lives in Tokyo and the three of us who drove from Kansai. As we got closer to the Accommodation, the country road shown by the navigation system made us think, “Could it really be this way?” and we struggled a little. If I had to mention any negatives from this trip, it would be that—and that the washbasin sink was black, so water marks were slightly noticeable after use. Upon arrival, we were surprised by how distinct and impressive it looked compared with its surroundings. We arrived about 30 minutes earlier than planned, but we were warmly welcomed and smoothly shown inside, which left a great first impression. The moment we opened the tasteful sliding entrance door set back from the gate, we were moved by the view stretching from the pine tree in the center courtyard all the way to the kura storehouse building across it. While preserving many historical elements—such as exterior walls, tiled roof, and pillars—the interior has been renovated into a clean and refined space that feels wonderful to spend time in. In both the audio room at the back where you can listen to records and the second-floor study stocked with everything from relatively recent Japanese literature to art books and foreign titles, there were chairs and ottomans in different styles arranged throughout. We were able to forget everyday life and relax at length. These spaces became favorites for my wife and daughter, who have a strong appreciation for music and art. My eldest son and I also used the sauna in the separate kura building across the courtyard before dinner. It’s available 24 hours; he enjoyed it late at night, while I went again after breakfast the next morning. In addition to a cold plunge bath there is also a regular bathtub; together with the indoor hinoki cypress bath in main building where you can fully stretch out your legs, there are two bathing options. Dinner and breakfast were served in another kura building on opposite side , featuring thoughtfully crafted dishes using plenty of local ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed everything—especially Koshu-style sukiyaki with beef and horse meat paired with three dipping sauces—alongside wine we picked up on our way there. After dinner we projected onto a large screen with projector held family drama viewing night for all four of us. We slept in bedroom where four beds could be lined up comfortably side by side. They even provided charging cables at each bedside equipped with three types of connectors—we were impressed by such attention to detail. Speaking of details: along with alcohol , refrigerator was stocked plenty chilled mineral water which was very helpful given season . There was also an assortment of nostalgic snacks card games insect-repellent items etc., showing both thoughtfulness playfulness. A location completely removed from noise spacious layout well-maintained Facilities lacking nothing an endlessly interesting interior blending old new perfectly—and being able enjoy all without interference as family four. It exceeded our expectations imagination. We’re glad chose this place for one those precious few times each year when whole family can gather . Thank you for your attentive hospitality .

I stayed at the accommodation with my beloved dog. The first thing I felt was the owner's deep love for the local area. Their passion for cherishing local attractions and ingredients was evident in the meals and throughout the facility. The meals were made with plenty of local ingredients, offering a gentle and delicious taste! On our first night, the fruits were a bit large, making it difficult for my dogs to eat, but by breakfast the next morning, they had been finely cut. This thoughtful gesture truly moved me. The sauna was excellent, leaving both my mind and body refreshed. My dogs also seemed to feel safe and comfortable during our stay. It’s a wonderful accommodation filled with kindness that naturally makes you want to return again someday. Thank you so much!

This Accommodation is packed with the best of a traditional Ryokan, and our whole family was delighted. We were amazed by how spacious the bath was, and the grandkids were excited about the jungle-like atmosphere. It was cherry blossom season, and everything was spectacular—flower mats, petals floating on the water, hazy blossom skies, swirling petal showers, even a “path of blossoms”! The kids were also surprised by the waterwheel. Thank you for a wonderful time we will always remember.

This was our third stay, and we always leave satisfied. The meals offer a wide variety and generous portions, and everything is delicious. Some places look impressive but don’t taste great, but here you can tell they use carefully selected ingredients and the flavors are excellent. The Onsen coffee you can order at the front desk has a gentle taste and is very soothing. The bath in the Room also has silky Onsen water, so you can enjoy an Onsen soak anytime you like. Simply the best.

I’ve stayed at various Vacation Villages, but Retreat Azumino Hotel was completely different from any of them! This Hotel is too good to enjoy in just one night. It made me want a Multiple Night Stay. It’s quiet, spotless, and I have nothing to complain about.

A Room with an open-air bath, great views, and a wonderful atmosphere. We also appreciated being able to enjoy free drinks such as beer. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying in both quantity and quality. The relaxed dining atmosphere was excellent! The staff’s thoughtful hospitality was also very pleasant.

This was my third stay in a row (three consecutive years), and once again I had a very satisfying stay. I feel this Hotel is thoughtful in every way. They have a large public bath, a pool, and dedicated areas for washing and drying diving gear. The in-house voucher service for choosing light cleaning, hangers in the bathroom, and charging cables for smartphones are also services I truly appreciate. Honestly, there are probably many more luxurious Hotels in terms of facilities, but at a reasonable price you can fully enjoy a resort atmosphere here—and when you consider cleanliness and an overall satisfying Hotel stay, I don’t think there’s anything better on Ishigaki Island. I’m usually the type who wants to try different Hotels each time, so I rarely stay at the same place repeatedly, but I’ve stayed here three years in a row and would like to return again next year as well. If I had to mention one thing, it would be great if you could add more reclining chairs by the pool (even if it makes the regular seating area a bit tighter).

We stayed here to celebrate my spouse and me turning 70. The Room with an open-air bath was spacious, and we were able to relax comfortably. The Onsen water quality in the large public bath was excellent. We could choose different temperatures depending on the area, and we were very satisfied. The meals were also very delicious. It became a memorable celebration. We would like to visit again.

This was my second stay. Last time, I really enjoyed the “Sukiyaki with Matsutake Mushrooms and Butter-Grilled Autumn Salmon & Mushrooms” course, so this time I chose the classic Plan with a kaiseki meal featuring Mihara’s specialty octopus shabu-shabu and lava-grilled domestic beef. Despite the weak yen continuing due to factors such as the Middle East situation and rising prices overall, it seems they are doing their best with little to no price increase; however, that may be why the meal felt noticeably less satisfying, and I felt the portion size would not be enough for younger families raising children. For guests who want to focus on dining, it would be helpful to recommend choosing a course labeled [Cuisine-Focused]. Even so, the pricing still offers excellent value for money. This year, it seems the “Sukiyaki with Matsutake Mushrooms and Autumn Salmon” course is not being offered, but I hope they will bring it back even if it costs more. This time, we were also able to enjoy fireflies near the Hotel due to the season. The staff are kind, and it’s a great-value Hotel—so I hope they continue offering Plans that let guests fully enjoy delicious food.

I stayed here on my first trip to Hokkaido in a while. I was extremely satisfied with the outstanding location, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the exceptional hospitality of everyone at the Hotel. The view from the open-air bath was also wonderful, and I would definitely like to stay here again. Thank you very much.

The Rooms in the new building were well-designed and clean, making for a very comfortable stay. Dinner featured many ingredients from Mie Prefecture and the Kumano area, and the sashimi was delicious. The staff were kind, and we appreciated having a laundry room as well as discounts on souvenirs.

The dog run is very spacious and pleasant. As soon as we arrived, my dog happily ran around, and I felt glad to have chosen this accommodation. It's an environment where dogs can relax freely, which naturally puts owners at ease as well. The traditional Japanese house has a calm atmosphere, allowing for a very peaceful stay. We enjoyed experiences like making miso and koji, as well as roasting rice crackers over the irori hearth—much more fun than expected! Roasting rice crackers over the irori was surprisingly challenging; adjusting the heat while slowly roasting them was a fresh experience. However, the rice crackers I made myself were far more delicious than I imagined. For dinner, we had an irori kaiseki meal prepared by the staff while we relaxed by watching the fire—a leisurely dining experience without any rush that allowed us to savor every bite. At night, we spent time by the bonfire without doing much of anything in particular. Just watching my dog relax nearby filled me with contentment. This is an accommodation that naturally makes you think, "I want to come back again."

Although it was a shame that we couldn’t go out for a walk because of the heavy rain during our stay, everything else was wonderful. The dinner in particular was carefully seasoned, vegetable by vegetable, and I was surprised at how delicious every dish was. We chose a Room without a view this time, but next time I’d like to stay in a Room with a great view. Thank you very much.

From the moment we arrived by car, the cheerful and friendly staff welcomed us in the parking lot and guided us, and the front desk team also assisted us with great care. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the Onsen was amazing! The private bath is open to all guests from 23:30 to 6:30 the next morning, so we enjoyed a morning soak in a lovely stained-glass bath. The Room was very spacious, spotless, and wonderful. It was an excellent stay.

I had a very comfortable stay. Considering the price, it offered excellent value for money, and every meal was delicious with just the right portions. The Ryukyu-tatami Room was spacious and clean, making it easy to relax. Both the large public bath and the open-air bath were roomy, and the water felt soft with a slight silky texture—very soothing. I also appreciated being seated at a quiet end spot in the dining area for solo guests, which allowed me to enjoy my meals in peace. This is an Accommodation I would definitely like to visit again in a different season.

I stayed at your accommodation two and a half years ago. At that time, the Hokuriku Shinkansen had not yet opened in Fukui Prefecture, so the nearest station was Takefu Station on the Hokuriku Main Line (now Happiline Fukui), and it took about 10 minutes by taxi to reach your accommodation. Now, with Echizen-Takefu Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen as the nearest station, it is conveniently located within walking distance for those traveling by Shinkansen. The room I stayed in was on the top floor of your seven-story accommodation. As shown in the images, you can see Route 8, the Hokuriku Shinkansen, and Hokuriku Expressway from there; however, my room faced away from Echizen-Takefu Station and Takefu Interchange. The design of this room reminded me of a hotel near Kanazawa Station (Via Inn Kanazawa), where a bed was placed next to a sofa in a similar layout. After relaxing briefly in my room, I went to the dining area on the first floor. The menu included some local specialties from Fukui (such as Echizen soba and sauce katsudon). I chose sauce katsudon for my meal. Afterward, I returned to my room and enjoyed a pleasant time there. The next morning when I looked out of my window, I saw beautiful morning scenery (as shown in two images). After checking out of your accommodation, I walked to Echizen-Takefu Station and boarded the Shinkansen for further sightseeing. I was truly impressed with staying at your hotel near this convenient Shinkansen station location. Thank you very much! I'd love to stay again!

It felt like a cozy, homey hidden retreat, and we were able to relax at a very leisurely pace. Dinner was served in small portions, but each dish was carefully prepared, and we enjoyed a delicious meal that left us completely satisfied. Breakfast was beautifully presented in small bowls and felt just right for the morning, but we were surprised when grilled kama (fish collar) was served—though it was absolutely delicious. The owner and hostess were wonderfully warm and welcoming, which made our stay truly comforting.
