I stayed at this Accommodation over the weekend. The staff gave me a warm welcome and provided courteous guidance.
The atmosphere was wonderful, and it was the perfect space for me to relax. The meals were delicious, and the bath was excellent.

I recently stayed at Ki no Ma. As my ancestors are from Omi, I visited this time and felt a joy as if I had met them by staying in a historic building connected to the legacy of the Omi merchants. The warm hospitality was wonderful, and above all, the meals were outstanding. The combination of fresh, carefully selected ingredients and the chef’s skill is truly moving. This is a highly recommended Accommodation, and I would definitely like to stay again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the all-you-can-drink craft beer server. The open-air bath overlooking the bamboo grove was also wonderful: during the day, you can hear cicadas, and at night it has a majestic, Bamboo Cutter’s Tale atmosphere. The meals were excellent—both dinner and breakfast offered a great variety of dishes. The bar had many cocktails and Japanese whiskies, all delicious. Thank you to the bartender.

I’m so glad I was lucky enough to get a Reservation at the Accommodation I’d been hoping to stay at when visiting Shodoshima! Thank you for emailing me in advance to confirm that my stay date fell on your Children’s Day, and for your very attentive support even before we arrived. The meals were excellent—we enjoyed plenty of Shodoshima’s local vegetables and fish, and we were completely satisfied. Thank you as well for the careful explanations of each dish and for adding a final message. The Onsen was private and wonderful. It was a shame that our timing didn’t work out, and in the end we couldn’t use one of them no matter when we checked… I also really appreciated the free drink service. We were too full to try the homemade fruit drinks or alcohol, so next time I’d like to come with more time (and room in my stomach), haha. Breakfast was delicious too—I finished everything! It was fun chatting about wanting to go to live shows, haha. I hope you enjoy your private time as well, so you can do even more wonderful work. One small thing: I wish the blind on the Room bathroom window could be adjusted. It felt like it might be visible from outside… haha Other than that, it was an incredibly relaxing space—perfect. Shodoshima is such a wonderful place. I’ll be back!

The meals were delicious, and the Onsen was wonderful.

Used this property while traveling around Kyushu and coming from Nagasaki. It’s located on the outskirts of town and is very quiet. The entire grounds are enclosed, making it feel like a separate world. The Room was just the right size—not too small or too large—and best of all, the Onsen! The private open-air bath in the guest room was amazing. The bed was also spacious and very comfortable, which was truly relaxing. I’d love to stay here again if I visit Kyushu in the future.

My wife and I stayed for one night shortly before Tanabata. We visited after seeing it featured on NHK’s “Bi no Tsubo,” because we wanted to try the irori hearth cuisine. The entrance is located within the large parking area of Shirayama Hime Shrine, and the Accommodation sits in a quiet setting between the shrine’s approach paths. Our Room was a Japanese-style tatami room, and the garden view from the engawa veranda—looking past the irori—was full of charm and very relaxing. There is no toilet in the Room, but one is very close by, so it wasn’t an issue. It felt like staying in a spacious traditional home. Also, in a reading room near the bath called Waraku-an, we could sit on chairs on the veranda and gaze at the greenery along the shrine approach, losing track of time. Dinner was served in another Japanese-style room with an irori. The appetizers presented in a bamboo basket were decorated with bamboo leaves and hydrangeas, giving a cool summer feel. After that, we enjoyed delicious dishes centered around ayu (sweetfish) grilled by the young proprietor over the irori in our room. The ayu rice was excellent as well. Including breakfast, everything was truly delicious, and the portions were just right—we were very satisfied. Before long we noticed handwritten messages from the proprietress throughout our Room and around the Accommodation. They are humorous and warm, and when you speak with her you can really feel her heartfelt hospitality and unhurried sense of time. She even said that when bears once appeared at the shrine, they had simply come to pay their respects—bravo. All in all, Wadayasan at Mt. Hakusan was an outstanding Accommodation for its setting, food, and wonderful proprietress—and it’s an Accommodation we would love to stay at again.

We stayed with our dog, along with my parents—six of us and three dogs. From the warm welcome upon arrival, the staff’s service was outstanding, and we were overwhelmed by the magnificent exterior and luxurious lobby. We travel every year, and this is the first time I’ve written a Review for a Hotel. It was truly a 100% satisfying Hotel, and our whole family was able to spend a fun time together with smiles. It’s such a wonderful place that one night isn’t enough—we’re already planning to celebrate my parents’ 80th birthday here next year at Hotel Kawakyu. All of the staff were incredibly kind and helpful.

This is my favorite Hotel. This time, I visited with my grandchild for the first time, and we had a wonderful time. The meal at Cape Mondo was also very delicious. However, I was disappointed that the seahorses were gone. I would love to have seahorses kept there again so I can hold one. Whenever I went to the Seahorse restaurant, I always made sure to see them. Thank you in advance.

I visited with friends in March, and this time I came with my son’s family. The food is simply delicious, and even my five-year-old grandchild can have fun at the amusement park and inside the Hotel. Beer was available after bathing and during meals as well, which made my daughter-in-law very happy. The meals were excellent—both grilled Hamana Lake eel (kabayaki) and white-grilled eel (shirayaki) were so good that I ate far too much. I usually don’t eat seafood bowls elsewhere (because they’re not tasty), but for some reason I end up having them here. And the staff who prepare the food are very kind. Next time, I’d like to bring my daughter’s family too. The desserts made with local ingredients and the small dishes are also delicious. I don’t think there is any other Hotel buffet as good as this. The only problem is that I eat too much and gain weight. Even breakfast has great variety, and even the scrambled eggs taste wonderful. The shirasu and eel onigiri-style rice balls were very satisfying too. With four adults and one small child, it’s hard to deny that the room feels a bit small. But since a larger room would have doubled the price, we ended up trying to save money. Well, we only sleep there anyway. This may be a bit rambling, but considering the price, all I can say is thank you very much. If possible, I think a dry sauna would be better than the current one in the bath area.

We stayed at Fugaku Gunjo as a couple during a summer holiday we were able to take at short notice. Away from the bustle of everyday life, we were able to spend unhurried time together in a quiet setting. Even though it was a short stay, it felt deeply fulfilling. Although we were blessed with clear weather on the day of our stay, the typical summer haze meant we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly during the daytime. Then, around 6:00 the next morning, I happened to glance outside and there it was—Mt. Fuji standing out in crisp detail. Its powerful, beautiful summer presence—so different from its snow-capped 모습—left a lasting impression. Listening to cicadas, simply taking in the view and enjoying time doing nothing. Even moments when we would normally keep ourselves busy felt like a luxury here. It was an experience unique to Fugaku Gunjo, where only the sounds of nature blend into the stillness. The dining was also exceptional. The French kaiseki dinner showcased each ingredient with great care, and every course was a pleasure. Japanese and French elements came together naturally, creating refined dishes that remained enjoyable through to the end. Breakfast was equally memorable. The rice cooked in a traditional pot was truly delicious—we realized we had finished every last bite between us without even noticing. We also learned that some of their rice and vegetables are grown on their own farm, and we were impressed by how seriously this Accommodation values its ingredients from the very source. Not just presentation but attention to these details is what elevates the entire stay. What especially stayed with us this time was the hospitality of all staff members. From Shuttle Service to check-in and dining, everyone we met was friendly and welcoming with genuine smiles—and their sense of distance felt perfectly comfortable as well. Their warm hospitality never felt formal or scripted; it put us at ease again and again throughout our stay. Though it was only one night and two days, everything from arrival to departure felt consistently pleasant. Beyond the spectacular views, beautiful rooms, and wonderful food—from growing ingredients on their own farm to thoughtful attentiveness by staff—you can feel careful dedication throughout this Accommodation. Looking back on this trip, it feels less like “an Accommodation you stay at for sightseeing somewhere else,” and more like “a place you travel for in order to spend time here.” Next time, we’d love to visit in another season—and enjoy a trip where staying at Fugaku Gunjo itself is our main purpose once again as a couple.

I suddenly got some time off and decided on a trip to Kyoto. Since I made the Reservation the day before, it was almost fully booked and I couldn’t choose the Room type, but the price was reasonable so I went ahead and booked it. The building was very clean, and I was happy that the bath was an Onsen! Both dinner and breakfast were delicious—I was completely satisfied. In addition to the welcome drink, there were lots of free services to enjoy, which made it feel like a great deal… All of the staff were friendly, so I had a very comfortable stay. It was a last-minute trip, but I’m truly glad I stayed here. Super, super satisfied!!! One more thing: the aroma scent used inside the property smelled wonderful and helped me relax even more. Thank you very much.

It was the best trip. This was a wonderful Ryokan in every respect—Japan’s oldest bath, the cuisine, the service, and the Onsen. I stayed at Kashotei with in-room dining, and every dish of the carefully prepared kaiseki meal was outstanding. The staff were perfect—always smiling and considerate—and the tour was also educational, helping me learn about the hot-spring cure area and the history of the Accommodation. After enjoying the open-air bath, family bath, and Japan’s oldest bath, my skin and hair felt silky smooth. The lounge is great too. Please do visit.

We stayed here as a couple, and it was easily one of the top three Accommodations we’ve ever visited. The entire property is beautiful and spotless. The views from the lobby and lounge are wonderful, and since it’s all-inclusive, we were able to relax with a drink even before meals. Both dinner and breakfast are buffet-style, but the quality is truly outstanding. At the live kitchen, some dishes are finished right in front of you. There’s an excellent selection of carefully chosen local ingredients, and the alcohol isn’t the “mystery brands” you often find at buffets—there were familiar options, and they even had Nikka Date. We were especially satisfied with the food and drinks, particularly the alcohol. Another great point was that there’s no time limit for dining, and no fixed start time—within the designated entry window, you can go whenever you like. It was completely stress-free. In the evening there was a salon concert, which we enjoyed while having a drink. The only downside was that our Room was far from the large public bath—but given how big this Accommodation is, that’s understandable. Finally: although all staff members were Japanese, what stood out most was their exceptional hospitality—not only at reception, but also from the chefs in the kitchen and even on the Shuttle Service bus. We could truly feel their warm welcome from everyone. This is an Accommodation we’d love to visit again.

With only a small number of Rooms, we were able to enjoy the Facility without much contact with other guests. As for the baths, we were able to take our time and enjoy all of them—the private open-air bath, the in-room open-air bath, and the in-room indoor bath. We’d also like to try the stone sauna next time. There were hours when we could use the lounge for beer, alcohol, coffee, and more. Although we couldn’t make it for cocktail time, we still made good use of it. It would be even better if the lounge stayed open a little later. Every dish had a gentle flavor and there was an impressive variety; everything was delicious and beautifully presented, so we enjoyed it with our eyes as well. Being able to choose three desserts ourselves was also great. Because we could dine at a relaxed pace, the portions felt just right and everything was very tasty. The Room was so clean that it didn’t feel like 15 years had passed at all, and we stayed very comfortably. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that the wash area was a bit small. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as having separate towels prepared for the open-air bath and the indoor bath. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

We originally planned to stay for one night, but because the weather at our next destination didn’t look promising, we decided on a last-minute Multiple Night Stay here. Before staying here, we had been at the Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima, and compared with that, this felt more family-friendly and like a Hotel where families with children can truly enjoy their time. It’s a little away from the center of Dogo Onsen, but a retro-style complimentary Shuttle Service bus runs regularly, so the distance hardly bothered us. There is a footbath at the Hotel entrance that you can enjoy anytime. In the evening, there was also a festival-style event held beside the souvenir shop area, which delighted our child. The baths are divided between an indoor bath on the 3rd floor and an open-air bath on the 4th floor. Each has its own unique atmosphere, and it was wonderful to be able to enjoy both. The food was delicious as well, and our whole family was very satisfied. The staff were courteous and attentive, so we felt comfortable throughout our stay. Although this Multiple Night Stay was decided at short notice, it turned out to be absolutely the right choice. When we visit Dogo Onsen as a family again, we would definitely like to stay here—without question. The Dogo Prince Hotel character “Yutama Prince” greeted us at check-in and saw us off at check-out by the entrance. We hope he keeps up the great work.

I stayed here with my mother and nephew on a trip for three. We were able to relax in a separate Room, and we could also borrow colorful yukata. This trip was to help cheer up my mother before she begins medical treatment, so it was truly wonderful. Breakfast was gently seasoned, and it seemed my mother was able to enjoy plenty of it as well. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for taking such great care of us. The open-air bath and toilet in the Room were very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. We were also surprised that even the indoor bath was an Onsen. As we traveled with our grandchild, the pool was wonderful and our grandchild was delighted. Since this time was only a one-night stay, everyone was very disappointed, and we are thinking of staying longer next year. Although one of us became unwell, thank you sincerely for your attentive support. The Facility is new, yet it is a wonderful Accommodation that preserves traditional Japanese hospitality and service.

I booked this stay because of the great Reviews, and it really caught my interest. After sightseeing at Kinomiya Shrine, we took a taxi there, and they warmly welcomed us at the entrance upon arrival. We were traveling with our 4-year-old and 1-year-old children, and everyone was so kind that the kids seemed to have a wonderful time. And above all, I was amazed at how incredibly delicious the food was. My husband and I weren’t very hungry when we went to dinner, but every dish was so good that before we knew it, we had finished everything. Even the appetizers were outstanding. We’ve traveled to many places before, but this was the first time we’ve had food this delicious. The children’s meal was also excellent, and even our child who usually eats very little seemed to eat a lot. Since our younger child is still small, my younger child and I used the in-Room bath, but it was spacious and spotless, so we enjoyed it more than enough. When we come to Atami again, I definitely want to stay here again!

This was my second stay. Last time, I stayed in the designated cultural property Room above Koike Tobacco Shop; this time it was the kura-style Room 103, with high ceilings, a spacious layout, and a large hinoki bath that smelled wonderful. The interior was also amazing—no TV or clock, and that otherworldly atmosphere was the best. The bed was excellent and I slept soundly, and breakfast was delicious. The staff were also very courteous and helpful. Thank you very much. The dreamlike time passed in the blink of an eye. Next time as well, I’d like to stay in a kura-style room—preferably Room 102. Please keep NIPPONIA just as it is. I look forward to visiting again. P.S. I bought Takayamaen tea right away. The grape barley tea is delicious, and I purchased many other kinds of tea too. I even became friendly with the shop owner lol. It was a fun trip with lots of discoveries. Thank you for the Diamond Member gift! It made me so happy.
