Everyone at the Hotel was very kind, and the bath was relaxing. I’m quite particular about cleanliness, but everything was clean and I felt comfortable staying there! Even though it’s a Japanese-style room, it had proper blackout curtains, which was great because the kids didn’t wake up early in the morning.

The emerald-green Onsen was wonderful. In the morning, the baths switch between men and women, so we could enjoy a different atmosphere. All the staff were kind, and we had a very comfortable stay. This is an Accommodation I would love to stay at again.

I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and the Room was simply outstanding. The spaciousness, cleanliness, design, and the in-room Onsen were all excellent. Since we didn’t order meals this time, we had limited interaction with the staff, but we didn’t experience any inconvenience. I’d love to visit again.

Due to the typhoon, train service to the nearest station, Izukyu-Shimoda Station, was suspended. After we contacted the Accommodation, they came to pick us up at a station where trains were still running. A welcome drink (including alcohol) was also prepared, and we felt relieved when we finally arrived. Above all, the meals were outstanding—we truly enjoyed the seafood. We are grateful for their thoughtful care in every way.

When I arrived at the Hotel, I was surprised by how old the exterior looked, but I pulled myself together and checked in. The lobby was filled with all kinds of quirky decorations—toys, masks, stuffed animals, and countless clocks that were each slightly out of sync—making it feel like I had wandered into another dimension. The guest room also felt dated, but it was kept clean and tidy. Best of all, the Pacific Ocean stretched out right in front of me; with Inubosaki Lighthouse to the left and the sound of waves close by, it offered an outstanding ocean view. The baths also included an open-air bath that felt seamlessly connected to the sea, which was very relaxing. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and satisfying. There are several library rooms inside the Hotel, well stocked with a huge selection of manga magazines, collected volumes, and general books—I could even lose myself in reading while looking out at the ocean. “Chospo” (Choshi Sports) was also an entertaining newspaper. It’s not a place you’d call spotless or modern, but in its own way it feels stylish—a unique Hotel where you can enjoy something out of the ordinary.

Unfortunately, due to cloudy and rainy weather, we couldn’t see the starry sky, but we’re already thinking about when to come back for another try. There was a warm, homey atmosphere among guests as well—people asked questions and helped each other out. The drink corner was a great idea, but even after trying many times, no ice came out, and there were a few things that were unclear. An elderly guest seemed troubled because the coffee wouldn’t stop dispensing. I think it would be helpful to post easy-to-understand instructions. At mealtimes, the staff serving us were all foreigners, but they were very polite. Their Japanese was quite limited at times so we didn’t always understand what they said, but we could generally guess from the context and had no issues. One thing that stood out compared with other hotels I’ve stayed at: since it’s a quiet Hotel I thought this might be normal here, but I was surprised that none of the staff said “good morning” to guests in the morning. When my husband passed by the front desk he greeted them first; they may not have heard him, but they were chatting among themselves and didn’t greet guests even as people walked right in front of them. In contrast, the foreign staff in the restaurant—even with limited Japanese—did say “good morning.” Also, the Onsen was wonderful, but there is no fan in the changing room. Having one would help guests cool down more easily and might reduce crowding there. The large public bath and open-air bath are very comfortable and warm you up well. The green view from the open-air bath—and in the morning, clouds or mist drifting over the mountains—felt truly unique. The meals were a good portion size and showed creativity within their price range. Dinner offered an enjoyable mix of Japanese- and Western-style dishes with plenty of variety. Breakfast was buffet-style with many options including both Western and Japanese items as well as desserts; everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The highland area is beautiful—it feels like it could even become a villa resort area someday. We also visited Relaxia Forest next to the Hotel (apparently used as a movie filming location). It’s a lovely forest where we could enjoy forest bathing too. There don’t seem to be any other Hotels around this area, so we’d like to stay again.

The Accommodation and our Room were very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. There were many Onsen options—an in-room scenic-view bath, the Facility’s large public bath, an open-air bath, and a family bath—so my Onsen-loving husband and our 6-year-old son enjoyed them so much they went four times a day (laugh). The hospitality of the proprietress and staff was wonderful. I was pregnant, but I was able to truly relax and take it easy during our 2-night, 3-day stay. Also, there is a river very close by where children can play and enjoy nature, so both adults and kids never got bored. It’s an Accommodation we would love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

I made a Reservation without doing much research because it looked good, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The nostalgic charm of the Showa era is beautifully balanced with modern Facilities, making the stay extremely comfortable. All of the staff were genuinely kind and welcoming—the hospitality was outstanding. The meals were also delicious; even though I’m on a diet, I finished dinner and was completely full. Breakfast felt lighter (not small in portion), and perhaps because it was Japanese-style, my weight didn’t increase much, which was a relief. The private bath doesn’t require a Reservation—if it’s available, you can use it—so I enjoyed it twice without any hassle. Since the number of guests per day is limited, it was quiet with a calm, adult atmosphere, and I could truly relax. Thank you very much.

We stayed for 1 night with 2 adults on a birthday trip for my partner. We chose the Plan with a private chef service, and a local island chef made sushi right in front of us. He was friendly and kind, so we could enjoy the meal while chatting—it was a truly special experience. The food tasted exceptional, the portions were generous, and we were very satisfied. After dinner, we had drinks at the Kura BAR. Even if you don’t drink alcohol, there is a great selection of soft drinks, so you can feel at ease. We tried drinks unique to Shodoshima, and they were delicious. The Accommodation’s Facility is not only spacious—every corner is stylish and beautiful, and you can really feel the owner’s attention to detail. There are four bedrooms; we couldn’t use them all with just two people, but we used two rooms—one for naps and one for sleeping at night. While our meal was being prepared, relaxing in the tatami room while listening to cicadas was simply perfect. The stone bath is also large. It takes about an hour to fill with hot water, but the owner filled it for us during dinner time—his kindness warmed our hearts as well. With the window open, a pleasant breeze came in through the bath area. The morning bath was wonderful too, with sunlight streaming in. It seems you’re allowed to harvest any vegetables from the garden field as well—we picked four tomatoes in the morning. They were crisp and tasty! The fruit prepared for breakfast was sweet too. Having breakfast while looking out at the garden was truly one of a kind. More than anything else, what made us glad we chose this Accommodation was the owner’s personality. Even during Shuttle Service pickup/drop-off he responded flexibly to our needs, which helped us so much. He is very knowledgeable; whenever we asked questions about the island he could answer anything. He laughed that “the birds will eat them,” referring to his vegetables—I felt he has such a calm nature (in a good way). He also took several commemorative photos for us—and he’s genuinely great at taking pictures! You can really sense his taste there too. In any case, he is incredibly kind and offers far more hospitality than I can possibly fit into one Review…! If I have another chance to visit Shodoshima, I would love to stay at Oyashiki Stay Sachi again. One night wasn’t enough—next time I hope we can stay two nights.

My spouse and I stayed here as a couple. Both the bath and the meals were excellent!!! The Room had a log-cabin feel and a resort vibe. Very clean! We’d love to stay again. The day-use bathing is very popular, so it was a bit too crowded. I do wish the time slots were a little shorter, but it’s understandable given how popular it is—a luxurious complaint.

The accommodation may be old as mentioned in other reviews, and it might not compare to high-end places, but for me, this is the perfect onsen accommodation! I was completely satisfied from the moment I arrived. My companion was also delighted, and our first impression was excellent. After arriving, we used the indoor bath. Thanks to the limited number of rooms, we had it all to ourselves. The water quality was fantastic and even alleviated the pain in my right upper arm caused by neuralgia. As for dinner... while you can hear other guests' voices, each group has a private dining space where you can enjoy your meal without worrying about others. The rice was delicious, and every dish served exceeded expectations! For someone over 50 like me, there was plenty of food—it was honestly a challenge not to leave anything behind! But what impressed me most during dinner were the staff members who attended us; their warm personalities and smiles (even through masks) made dining an absolute pleasure. I’ve often avoided meals at accommodations due to past disappointments; however, this place completely changed my perspective with its exceptional food and outstanding service from staff members—so much so that I went to bed feeling deeply moved. The next morning before breakfast, we reserved a private open-air bath (though initially planned for before dinner but it wasn’t available). It turned out beyond expectations—a truly amazing open-air bath! Even large enough for three families together yet just two of us enjoyed it privately. Perhaps due to timing or seasonality—we saw swallows building nests nearby while hearing chirps from baby birds as parent birds busily brought them food—a serene experience indeed! Breakfast afterward left us equally satisfied despite having eaten so much at dinner—it’s hard not being full here! Having stayed at various accommodations over time only two—including this one—made me want return solely because they’re worth visiting again (the other being an unnamed place in Hirugami Onsen). In conclusion: If you're looking for affordable enjoyment combined with must-have private open-air baths—I highly recommend staying here! Lastly—to any staff member who assisted during our delightful evening meal reading this review—I hope these words bring joy your way!

I stayed for one night to show my appreciation to my partner. It was cleaner than I expected, and although many of the staff were foreigners, they were calm and kindly assisted us. The bath was quite hot, so I deducted one star, but we managed by adding water… Still, we were able to relax very well, and above all, it was wonderful to see how happy my partner was. It’s an old Hotel, but their hard work really came through. I’d love to visit again. Thank you very much. The view from the in-room bath was truly soothing.

The Room was very clean, and the bed was spacious. There was also a door that could partition the Room. Since some of us wanted to sleep early while others wanted to watch TV, we could close the door when needed. The TV showed how crowded the large public bath was; it said it was crowded, but when we went, the changing area was spacious and there were plenty of washing stations, so it didn’t feel crowded at all. The buffet food was delicious, but it was a bit too crowded and caused congestion. Unlimited alcohol with the welcome drinks is impressive, but I was surprised to learn that drinks were unlimited during meals as well! It’s a Hotel I’d definitely like to visit again.

We stayed here for our family trip at the end of summer vacation. It was a special Room—the only one of its kind in the Hotel. It had the space of two Rooms plus a living area, and an exceptionally large bathroom—about the size of another Room—with a spacious bathtub where you can fully stretch out, as well as a separate shower room. The bubble-bath function had been removed, but features such as the marble flooring gave it a very luxurious feel. There were also private stairs, a ramp, and an exclusive corridor leading to this special Room, with outstanding attention to privacy. From the Room, we enjoyed breathtaking views over all of Lake Megami and the surrounding mountains. There were three large TVs, which delighted our children, and we could use the air conditioning as well, so we stayed comfortable throughout our visit. The public bath included an open-air bath and even two saunas, and the lockers were clean. From the open-air bath we could look out over Lake Megami and the mountains while relaxing in the Onsen. We enjoyed cooling off in the cold bath, watching clouds drift by, and taking our time to fully appreciate Tateshina Onsen. As it was peak season, both dinner and breakfast were buffet only; while there weren’t many items overall, each dish was truly delicious. The coffee did not seem to be freshly drip-brewed from a machine like those found at some buffets, so having a coffee machine would be nice. Next time we are very much looking forward to trying kaiseki cuisine at the basement-level restaurant as well. As an IKYU.com Diamond member benefit I requested late check-out; unfortunately it wasn’t possible due to peak season demand. Still, this is such a wonderful Hotel that we wanted to stay even longer—the Room was beautiful, spacious, and impressive in every way. Thank you also for the Diamond member gifts (a bottle of wine and souvenirs from Nagano). Since in Parking Lot No. 1 the wheelchair-priority space is shared with EV charging spaces, I think it would be better to separate them so that enough spaces can be secured to meet nighttime EV charging demand while keeping accessible parking available at all times. We arrived at 11:00 and completed check-in procedures first; the front desk staff were excellent. We requested early check-in but it wasn’t possible due to peak season; however when keys became available before 3:00 p.m., they were handed out in order of completion of procedures—so arriving early was worthwhile for us after all. We will be staying in this same Room again in the future as well; thank you in advance from our whole family for your continued hospitality. Thank you very much to all staff members.”

The sashimi set dinner featured local vegetables, and the sashimi was very fresh and delicious. The other dishes were also excellent, and we were very satisfied. The staff were kind, courteous, and attentive, making this a wonderful Accommodation. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Just a short walk from the station with excellent access, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. We were able to relax and enjoy our meals in a private Room. For dinner, each of us was served freshly cooked white rice from a small individual kamado pot, which made us very happy! At breakfast as well, the fish and yudofu were each heated at the table, so we could enjoy a warm meal. The large public bath was not overly crowded and felt spacious, allowing us to relax and enjoy the hot water. The Room was also spacious, making for a very comfortable stay. The only thing that bothered me was a slightly musty smell in the elevator, but the Facility was new and clean overall. It’s also close to central Tokyo, and I would love to stay again.

The staff’s thoughtfulness and service were excellent, and although it was my first trip in a while, it became a wonderful memory. However, the Room air conditioning did not work well, the noise from the unit bothered me and made it hard to sleep, and I was also concerned about the smell of the water in the open-air bath.

It had been a while since I last visited Hokkaido. Because the price was reasonable, I didn’t have overly high expectations, but after actually staying here, it was a perfect 10/10. I would definitely like to stay again next time. I also want to recommend it to everyone. Thank you very much.
