This price was a great deal with next-day passport included. The Room was spacious and nice, but it was a bit disappointing to find hair in the washbasin.

The Onsen was excellent, with nothing to complain about. The healthy hot pot dinner was very delicious. The property also had a charming atmosphere, but I could clearly hear noise from the hallway at night, which bothered me a little.

The Hotel had a calm, modern Japanese-style atmosphere throughout. The view from the window was beautiful, overlooking the Nagara River and Gifu Castle. The scenery from the large public bath on the 8th floor was also spectacular. I really enjoyed breakfast, with fun and delicious options like comparing different types of rice and making my own furikake seasoning. For dinner, I chose in-Room dining, so I could eat at a relaxed pace. The only disappointment was that the tempura in the Shokado bento had gone cold, but that’s understandable for a boxed meal. All of the staff were polite, and I had a wonderful stay.

Thank you very much for your courteous email support even before our stay. Since we used self check-in and check-out, we were unable to thank the Hotel staff in person. We stayed here on a family trip. It had always been my dream to relax at the Hotel and enjoy fireworks while chatting casually with my family, and that dream came true. Now that our children are grown, I wonder how many more summers like this we will be able to spend together. The Atami Fireworks Festival we watched from Hotel Harvest Atami, the delicious buffet, the bath with a wonderful view—these have become precious memories for us. Thank you very much.

We stayed at Hotel Hanamaki while visiting Shohei Ohtani’s alma mater during our trip to visit family graves. We stayed for one night from June 24, and we were very happy with the excellent value for money. For dinner, we enjoyed crab, steak, tempura, and a customizable kama-meshi (I chose one loaded with crab). What impressed me most was breakfast—it was easily the best I’ve had among all the places I’ve stayed. There was delicious rice and a wide selection of both Japanese and Western dishes. Even at 65 years old, I was completely satisfied and even went back for seconds—especially for the freshly made omelet, grated yam (tororo), salted seafood (shiokara), mekabu seaweed, minced tuna (negitoro), pickles, and more. We were also able to explore several different baths, and my wife and I made wonderful memories. Thank you very much.

While parts of the building had a retro Showa-era feel, overall I was satisfied. I was especially surprised by the wide variety of breakfast options. This Accommodation had the best selection I’ve ever seen. There were so many choices that it was almost disappointing I couldn’t eat more. I stayed here for a business trip to Mt. Rokko in Kobe, and it was easy to get there without taking much time.

We stayed as two adults. We were able to enjoy a variety of alcoholic drinks in the lounge, and it felt like a quiet, sophisticated space. You can have a truly wonderful time here. The Room was very clean and comfortable. The meals were also delicious, and we could dine at a relaxed pace; there was a great variety of ingredients that felt nourishing for the body, which we really appreciated. If we have the chance to visit Tateshina again, this is a Hotel we would definitely like to stay at.

We were able to relax in a quiet, calm atmosphere. The nearby bath was also very pleasant. The breakfast portion was just right for seniors like us. The rice was very delicious, but we couldn’t finish it and regretted leaving some. However, since we didn’t include dinner, we had trouble finding a place to eat in the evening. There were restaurants nearby, but many were closed, so we went to Gotsu. We should have checked in advance.

It was amazing. As others have mentioned, the meals were plentiful and included fresh sashimi platters and large tagged crabs, with a wide variety of delicious dishes that left us impressed. The accommodation, including the rooms, was clean and beautifully designed with a warm wooden atmosphere. The onsen warmed us to the core and kept us feeling cozy even after getting out. We’ve searched for delicious crab in many places, but Showakan was truly the best accommodation we’ve experienced.

This is one of my favorite Hotels, and I have stayed here many times. Dinner was very luxurious and I was extremely satisfied. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I’m happy that there is an all-you-can-drink soft drink option. They also now offer soft-serve ice cream. There is only one Onsen bath, but it’s nice that there are various other baths as well. They had placed a cooler box for sauna users to store drinks they brought with them, which seemed very convenient. All the staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were kind and provided courteous service. However, this time I was concerned about day-use guests reserving washing areas in advance. I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you for your hospitality.

The Room was very clean, and the bed was spacious. There was also a door that could partition the Room. Since some of us wanted to sleep early while others wanted to watch TV, we could close the door when needed. The TV showed how crowded the large public bath was; it said it was crowded, but when we went, the changing area was spacious and there were plenty of washing stations, so it didn’t feel crowded at all. The buffet food was delicious, but it was a bit too crowded and caused congestion. Unlimited alcohol with the welcome drinks is impressive, but I was surprised to learn that drinks were unlimited during meals as well! It’s a Hotel I’d definitely like to visit again.

The front desk staff welcomed us with exceptional kindness. The Room was spacious and spotless, with a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Toya. In the private open-air bath, we could soak in the Onsen while fully enjoying the spectacular scenery of Lake Toya. The open-air bath in the large public bath on the top floor was at the perfect temperature—never too hot—so we could relax without having to step out repeatedly. Looking down over Lake Toya from the infinity bath, we felt completely refreshed in both body and mind; it was truly outstanding. The dining was also excellent. The dinner buffet featured an abundant selection of fresh sashimi and nigiri sushi, including scallops, sea urchin, and shrimp. There were also hot dishes such as grilled crab legs and steak—all you can eat. Breakfast offered a wide variety of seafood as well, including raw surf clams and sweet shrimp, and our whole family was thoroughly satisfied with the meals at “Kohan no Sumika.” I have stayed at more than 70 Japanese Onsen Ryokan so far, but “Kohan no Sumika” is one of the few Hotels that I can say I absolutely want to return to. Thanks to the warm hospitality of all the staff, our family enjoyed an unforgettable and perfect stay. Thank you very much. 2. Business Courtesy Version (more formal and polite tone) This is a flawless Onsen Resort Hotel. I stayed at “Kohan no Sumika” on August 30. The front desk service was extremely courteous, and the Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and well maintained. From the guest Room we could enjoy sweeping views of Lake Toya, and in the private open-air bath we were able to savor both the Onsen experience and the beautiful scenery of Lake Toya to our heart’s content. The top-floor open-air bath had a wonderfully comfortable temperature that allowed for a long soak without overheating. Relaxing while looking down over Lake Toya from the infinity Onsen made for an exceptionally luxurious moment of calm. Dinner was highly satisfying: along with plentiful fresh sashimi and nigiri sushi—such as scallops, sea urchin, and shrimp—there were also all-you-can-eat options like grilled crab and steak. Breakfast likewise included seafood such as raw surf clams and sweet shrimp, leaving our entire family very pleased with its quality. Although I have stayed at more than 70 Japanese Onsen Hotels to date, “Kohan no Sumika” is one of those rare outstanding Accommodations that I would very much like to visit again. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for everyone’s warm hospitality; thanks to you all, our family enjoyed a truly perfect time together.

During the Obon holiday period, I was looking after my grandchild and searched for a nearby Hotel where a 2-year-old could play. We stayed in a family Room created in collaboration with Miki House. While the Hotel’s structure is undeniably old, it has been beautifully renovated and we had a very comfortable stay. The children’s pool inside the Hotel, the slide and jungle gym set up in the Room, toys such as building blocks, and the evening festival-style event all delighted my grandchild. Dinner was served in our Room so we could relax without worrying about others, and the breakfast buffet offered delicious dishes made with local ingredients in a restaurant with a great view. This was an especially recommended Hotel for families traveling with children. Thank you very much.

The Onsen and the food were both wonderful. The staff were also very kind. The building is quite old, but it was thoroughly cleaned and kept very tidy. The Okami theater show was a lot of fun. It wasn’t a one-woman performance by the Okami; it was a show created together with many people. Many young performers around 20 years old also came on stage and showcased various acts with the Okami. It felt like they had practiced a great deal, and we were told they are all students from Yamaguchi University. We also heard that senior students teach the acts to juniors, passing them down over time. This is a Ryokan loved by the local community. It was an amazing, one-of-a-kind trip. I would love to visit again. It was my first trip to Yamaguchi, and it became a truly wonderful memory. Thank you very much.

We stayed here for our elementary school-aged daughter’s birthday trip. She requested a buffet, so we looked for a place with a menu that both kids and adults could enjoy, and this is where we ended up. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes featuring local ingredients, and we were very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. Not only that, but check-in and check-out were smooth, the welcome service was excellent, and the playroom—clean and well stocked with plenty of activities—was always lively with guests. The Onsen was slightly lukewarm, which was perfect for our family since we don’t like very hot baths. The staff kept a comfortable distance; there wasn’t much small talk, but whenever we asked something they responded very politely, which made our stay pleasant. The next day we took a walk through Sosenkyo Gorge right in front of the hotel. It was easy to access, and we were able to enjoy ourselves even after checking out. Thank you very much. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be that the parking lot felt small for how busy it gets; when larger cars line up, getting in and out can be difficult. It would be even more comfortable if it could be expanded or improved.

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Overall, it was comfortable. The bath on the 7th floor had a fairly lukewarm tub, which was great because soaking in it after the hotter tub let us enjoy a longer time without overheating. On the other hand, the bath on the 1st floor has only four washing stations. While there are multiple tubs, most are so small that they barely fit one or two people, so I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you visit on a quiet day or specifically want to try several small baths. Meals (both breakfast and dinner) changed between the first and second night, so even with a Multiple Night Stay we didn’t get bored. You can enjoy many different dishes in small portions, and there’s also a special, creative feel to them. Everything was tasty, but not so impressive that it’s worth setting your expectations too high. The fish dishes were average; the meat dishes were very good. It was also nice that you can order Fukushima sake and other drinks for an additional fee. All staff were warm and welcoming. The Room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. We could see nature through large windows, and the amenities/Facility were well equipped: a large desk with a sturdy chair, a powerful hair dryer, a full-length mirror (stand mirror), tea and coffee, etc. However, it was disappointing that the desk drawer hit the chair armrests making it hard to pull up close to the desk, and that the light on the stand mirror had dead batteries. Since we stayed during Obon season there were many families with children, so it may not suit those looking for a quiet adults-only atmosphere. Also, since it said “no cleaning unless requested” for Multiple Night Stay guests we didn’t ask for anything—but staff still entered our Room to replace amenities without warning us first. This part of their guidance is unclear. There are hardly any shops nearby such as convenience stores, so it’s not ideal if you plan to sightsee only in the immediate area. It seems better suited either for going out toward the station area or for relaxing at this Accommodation. We didn’t use it ourselves, but they also appear to offer a free Shuttle Service bus to another affiliated Onsen.

We stayed for two nights. The Room was spacious and clean, with easy access from the lobby, making it very comfortable. A kids’ festival-style event was being held, and the Accommodation staff were kind and gave us lots of sweets, which made our children very happy. We were also very satisfied with the meals. Best of all was the bath. The open-air bath while looking up at the starry sky was amazing.

It was a wonderful Ryokan in every respect—hospitality, open-air bath, and meals. I would stay here again.

The building feels a bit old, but it is clean, and the view is outstanding with a panoramic look over the Seto Inland Sea. I made a Reservation for a bed Room; it was spacious enough and very comfortable. Dinner included one abalone, simmered sea bream head, beef stew, and many other dishes—so many that I couldn’t finish them all. Breakfast is buffet-style, with plenty of options such as rice porridge. The nighttime taiko drum show is incredibly powerful—you can feel it deep in your stomach—and is a must-see. The only downside was that Wi‑Fi wasn’t available in the Room; otherwise everything was excellent. I’d like to stay here again next time.

We stayed here for the first time just after New Year’s, and my spouse, our dog, and I were all very satisfied—so we came back again four months later. Everything was excellent: truly pet-first, wonderful staff hospitality, great meals, and relaxing baths. Modern stylish Accommodations are nice too, but we really love Kinugawa’s charming retro atmosphere… We’re already planning our third visit this year… We’ll be coming all the way from Izu (lol).
