The lake could be seen from our Room, the dining area, and even the bath, and we were able to truly relax from the heart. The meals were gentle and beautifully presented without overpowering the natural flavors of the ingredients, the portions were just right, and everything was absolutely delicious. The proprietress’s thoughtful care and the kindness of everyone at the Accommodation could be felt in so many ways. It’s far away so we can’t visit often, but this time we even got to enjoy fireworks as a special treat, and staying at your Accommodation became a truly wonderful memory.

The Rooms in the new building were well-designed and clean, making for a very comfortable stay. Dinner featured many ingredients from Mie Prefecture and the Kumano area, and the sashimi was delicious. The staff were kind, and we appreciated having a laundry room as well as discounts on souvenirs.

This Accommodation is a day-use Onsen Facility with lodging, overlooking the satoyama landscape of Okuizumo. Thank you for letting us stay at a very reasonable rate as part of the “Special Room Grand Reopening Commemorative” offer. The Room was clean and comfortable. The refrigerator was well stocked with complimentary drinks such as beer, chu-hi, sake, and tea. There was also a coffee machine with plenty of coffee beans provided—perfect for coffee lovers. The open-air bath is not very open, but it is free-flowing from the source. However, since the source temperature is low at 29°C, it was disappointing that hot water needs to be added. Because it was hot in July, we mostly bathed using the source water as-is. When I returned to the air-conditioned Room I felt chilly at first, but afterward my body warmed up from the core. The large public bath was far from the Special Room, but I still went three times. I noticed a slight chlorine smell, but it was nicely warm. It would be ideal if the in-room bath’s spring water could be heated. For dinner we had the top-tier “Matsu Kaiseki” at a table in the restaurant. At this great price (50,000 yen), we were fully satisfied; however, if it were priced at 70,000–80,000 yen or more for two people, I think more creativity would be needed both in the dining setting and in the meal content. As of writing this Review on IKYU.com , it seems that Special Rooms are not currently being sold there. We were glad to enjoy beautiful satoyama views with no solar panels or anything else in sight from this Accommodation. All staff served us with warm smiles and pleasant hospitality. I also appreciated that most staff were local Japanese rather than foreign workers. We support hardworking Japanese Ryokan like yours. If charging regular rates, we hope you will consider adding one more step of “specialness” worthy of a Special Room. We would love to stay again.

I stopped by and stayed here on my way back to my hometown. Since I’d heard it was attached to a day-use Onsen Facility, I didn’t expect much—but I couldn’t have been more wrong. From the building’s appearance to every detail of the indoor Facilities, everything was impeccably maintained and welcoming. Above all, I was amazed by the staff’s hospitality. They anticipated guests’ needs before being asked—truly top-tier service. The Onsen uses water from the well-known Nakatsugawa Onsen source, and it felt wonderfully silky on the skin. The meal was a creative kaiseki course featuring plenty of Gifu ingredients, with outstanding taste, quality, portion size, and presentation. The room was beautifully kept, and I had a completely comfortable stay with no inconveniences at all. This is an exceptional Onsen Accommodation that I’ll definitely return to.

We had a truly wonderful time. The homemade-style meals, the thoughtfully prepared Room and space, and the open-air bath while listening to the sound of the waves were all exceptional. The all-inclusive plan was very satisfying. And we were deeply moved by the former proprietress’s storytelling. It reminded us to feel grateful once again for being alive—being allowed to live—here and now. Thank you very much. This is a highly recommended Accommodation.

The round-trip Shuttle Service was available, which we really appreciated. It’s in a quiet location, so we were able to relax. All the staff we met were polite and provided excellent service. As others have mentioned, the meals were the best we’ve had among all Kyoritsu Group properties we’ve visited. Since spiny lobster was unavailable due to the closed season, abalone sashimi was served instead—everything tasted great, and the portion was surprisingly generous. One small concern: right after check-in, at the open-air area of the rock-bath public bath (toward the back), there were quite large dead insects (beetles and moths). Given the natural surroundings it may be unavoidable, but I’d appreciate it if that area could also be checked more carefully.

This was my first time visiting Amanohashidate, and thanks to all the staff, I had a truly wonderful stay. The Room—including the semi-open-air bath, comfortable changing area, spacious Japanese-style room, living area, and bedroom—was spotless and could not have been better. Everyone on the staff was kind and approachable. The meals were also excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were served in a private dining room with an ocean view, where we could relax and enjoy the sunset and evening atmosphere, as well as the sunrise in the morning. Every dish was carefully prepared, with gentle seasoning that we really appreciated. If there is one point for improvement, it would be that the bath water temperature felt a bit lukewarm. For the open-air bath in the Room, it would have been nice to be able to adjust the temperature. If I simply missed an operation panel, I apologize. I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

Because of the slope, this Ryokan was a bit far from the seven Onsen, and walking around inside in geta sandals was difficult. However, the two private baths were excellent, and I used them many times. The Room was clean and made for an enjoyable stay, and the meals were delicious. The young staff member in charge was kind and courteous, so I felt very comfortable throughout my stay.

Thank you very much for having us during our stay. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed our meals comfortably on a floor with a wonderful view. In particular, the handwritten message and lovely illustrations at breakfast were very soothing, and we truly felt the staff’s kindness. Thank you. Thank you as well for the Shuttle Service the following day. If there is a regular shuttle to the station, we would appreciate being able to use it on our return trip as well.

The Room was spacious and uncluttered, so it felt like pets wouldn’t be able to get into mischief. It also felt reassuring even with a baby. There was a large trash bin, and being able to throw everything away in one place was more convenient than having multiple small bins. Meals were great as well—BBQ was prepared for each Room, so we only had to grill. The meat was very delicious, and the rice had already been cooked in advance, which showed how thoughtfully everything is arranged. There is very little direct interaction with staff, but if you need anything and call, they come quickly and help. The in-Room bath was wonderful, and there is also a large public bath where you can enjoy different types of baths. The large public bath was almost private during our stay. Each Room also has a cart, making it easy to get to the large public bath. Driving the cart was a fun bonus. There are many insects outside, but measures are taken so they don’t get into the Room or onto the balcony, and there were none at all in the large public bath. A lot of insects fly around outdoors, but it’s impressive how well they prevent them from coming inside. Insect repellent is also provided, which made us feel fairly at ease. It’s an Accommodation I’d like to visit again—next time for a Multiple Night Stay.

I stayed for a two-night, three-day trip this time. When I stayed at a nearby auberge in May, I was struck by the views of the Yatsugatake Mountains, Mt. Fuji, and the Southern Alps under an огром sky—and I felt it would be a waste to spend only one night in a place like this. Another reason was that I wanted to enjoy the fireplace, so I chose a Room with one. It turned out to be exactly the right choice. When I opened the window, I could hear birds singing, frogs croaking, and cows lowing in the distance. Combined with the crackling of firewood in the fireplace, it was incredibly relaxing—truly a great way to relieve stress. For meals, we ate at Seisenryo’s restaurant for everything except lunch on the first day. You can dine while looking out at the mountains, then head straight back to your Room and enjoy the fireplace. I’m thinking of staying again in October or November next time—hopefully with a clear view of the starry sky. This place offers an exceptional level of comfort and relaxation in your Room that’s hard to find elsewhere, so I highly recommend it.

The Facility and service were excellent, and it’s a place where I’d like to stay one more night or visit again. This is a recommended Accommodation. Unfortunately, there were two issues: 1. The shower in Room 106 had almost no water pressure, so I couldn’t wash my hair. I went somewhere else in the middle of the night to wash my hair. I would like enough water pressure in the Room shower to be able to wash my hair. 2. There was no lobby with staff on site at the Accommodation; if anything happened, I was told to scan a QR code and talk via smartphone. However, I could not access the system from my phone no matter how many times I tried. Even though I went there to relax, I had to struggle for a long time with setting up a smartphone system that didn’t work. Please place a telephone in the Room.

We visited with great anticipation, having heard this Accommodation has a 150-year history. From the warm welcome at arrival, everyone greeted us with smiles, and our expectations immediately rose. We were escorted to our Room by a staff member, and the attentive service was remarkably detailed—something rare these days. The building has been beautifully renovated. Relaxing in the lounge surrounded by nature while looking out over the clear stream of the Hoki River was wonderful, and our conversations flowed easily. The facilities and our Room were spacious and spotless, and the gentle scent of incense was delightful. Every staff member we passed had a soothing smile. Dinner was carefully prepared, and the thoughtfully chosen tableware made it feel even more delicious. My mother and aunt—both very particular about food—praised it highly as well; we were truly impressed by the flavors of the ingredients themselves. The semi-open-air bath in our Room and the public baths felt silky soft on the skin, so we enjoyed them again and again. It seemed to promote perspiration; we warmed up from deep within, and all fatigue melted away. There were also table tennis, massages, and more available to enjoy—the service is thorough in every way. We also heard that for a Multiple Night Stay, different dishes are served each day. After dinner, we took a walk along the Hoki River and saw fireflies drifting through an enchanting scene—it felt magical. This became an unforgettable memory of this Accommodation. On the drive home we were already saying, “Let’s come back for a Multiple Night Stay in another season.” At a time when many places are simplifying their services, we are truly grateful to have found such a wonderful Accommodation with such attentive hospitality. We will recommend it to friends and acquaintances as well. Thank you very much.

I stayed here with my sons when they came home for the Obon holidays. Both the lobby and the salon were solid, elegant, and wonderful. From our Room window we could see the river and the sea, and we spent a relaxing time watching the sunset. Dinner was luxurious and delicious, but for me—now over 70—the portions were a bit too large. They asked how much of the finishing sea bream ochazuke we wanted, and I was surprised when my sons chose extra-large servings. The pudding was as delicious as ever, so I enjoyed it easily as a separate dessert stomach. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Although I often stay in Kirishima Onsen, this was my first time in Hitoyoshi Onsen, so I chose a relatively new Accommodation. It turned out to be the perfect choice, and on the way home my companion and I kept saying, “We’re glad we picked this place.” First of all, the Facility itself is new and very well cleaned, so check-in felt comfortable and pleasant. Next, the baths: both the indoor bath and open-air bath are stone-built with deep tubs; the water was pleasantly hot and gentle on the skin—truly a “beauty bath” quality—and I was very satisfied. Meals were served for both breakfast and dinner using local ingredients in thoughtful detail; everything was delicious in just the right portions. When visiting Kumamoto I had been hoping for basashi (horse sashimi), but it wasn’t included in this Plan; it was available to order separately, so I enjoyed it that way. What helped us most was assistance with making Reservations for lunch the next day and for activity facilities, as well as answering detailed questions. They kindly accommodated our requests—such as “I want to eat seasonal salt-grilled ayu” and “I’d like to try pottery on a wheel”—all with a smile. Thank you also for seeing us off even in light rain without opening an umbrella. The salt-grilled ayu at the restaurant you recommended was excellent, and we each made pottery pieces (a plate, a bowl, and a beer glass). After firing them in the kiln, they will be glazed in our requested colors that same day and then shipped to our home once finished—we’re looking forward to receiving them. I would love to visit again; however, there is one disappointing point: there is only one Room type available for stays of two or more people, so I would appreciate more options. I’m so glad I was lucky enough to get a Reservation at the Accommodation I’d been hoping to stay at when visiting Shodoshima! Thank you for emailing me in advance to confirm that my stay date fell on your Children’s Day, and for your very attentive support even before we arrived. The meals were excellent—we enjoyed plenty of Shodoshima’s local vegetables and fish, and we were completely satisfied. Thank you as well for the careful explanations of each dish and for adding a final message. The Onsen was private and wonderful. It was a shame that our timing didn’t work out, and in the end we couldn’t use one of them no matter when we checked… I also really appreciated the free drink service. We were too full to try the homemade fruit drinks or alcohol, so next time I’d like to come with more time (and room in my stomach), haha. Breakfast was delicious too—I finished everything! It was fun chatting about wanting to go to live shows, haha. I hope you enjoy your private time as well, so you can do even more wonderful work. One small thing: I wish the blind on the Room bathroom window could be adjusted. It felt like it might be visible from outside… haha Other than that, it was an incredibly relaxing space—perfect. Shodoshima is such a wonderful place. I’ll be back!

After the typhoon, I wondered what would happen, but they seem to have live fish tanks, and that really helps them secure ingredients. Even for one person, you get a luxurious sashimi platter of delicious, very fresh fish. Dishes like tokobushi (small abalone) grilled on a ceramic plate and simmered kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) make it feel like a high-end Ryokan. And that’s not all—there are also Western-style dishes using fish, so you never get bored. There are plenty of places that focus on Japanese-style seafood, but it’s rare to find an Accommodation that serves fish prepared in such a wide variety of ways. That said, don’t forget the base is still a minshuku (family-run guesthouse). In the morning, no matter how long you wait, no one comes out—so please help yourself. If it’s your first time, this style can be surprising. But because of that, the value for money is outstanding. Very satisfied.

We stayed as a family of three. The Onsen was wonderful—smooth and silky, a truly great Onsen. The meals were also excellent. We chose the course with sukiyaki. Everything—sukiyaki, sashimi, tempura, miso-grilled chicken, and more—was carefully prepared and delicious. Breakfast was served in a different dining area filled with morning sunlight, and it was just as tasty. The building was very clean, the Room was spacious and spotless, hot water and cold water were provided, and the futon was very comfortable. Everyone at the Accommodation was kind and attentive, so we had a great time. It’s an Accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again.

This was our second stay at Umekiya. We stayed once before and it was so great that we chose it again. The owner talked with us about why we picked this place again, as well as products made on Awaji Island and shops run by local creators, and we were able to actually stop by. They also share recommended spots around Awaji Island. On our second visit, we used a nearby super sento. It was extremely crowded with locals, so while Umekiya doesn’t have a bathtub, if you want to take your time in the bath, it’s better to use Umekiya. The Wi‑Fi in the Room (which didn’t work well last time) had been improved, but the best part is spending time enjoying the atmosphere in the shared space on the first floor while having free drinks. There are two shared toilets, but my family wished they were separated for men and women. It’s also hard to tell whether someone is inside; even though one of them was vacant, I was knocked on and asked to hurry up. It would be helpful if it were easier to see whether each toilet is occupied or not. If we come back to Awaji Island again, this is a place we’d like to stay at.

From the seasonal white shrimp to the appetizers, sashimi, grilled dishes, chawanmushi, and tempura, everything was exceptionally delicious and we were completely satisfied. The custom-made white shrimp kakiage was also perfectly crispy with a wonderful shrimp aroma—truly delicious. All Rooms have an ocean view, and the sunrise view in the morning was breathtaking. We had an unexpected issue on our way back, but the staff handled it wonderfully with outstanding service. We would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.
