I stayed here for one night on the second night of my five-night solo trip to Kusatsu Onsen from Fukuoka, and I’m glad I was able to get a Reservation. I had heard that Kusatsu Onsen has various types of spring water, so I chose this Ryokan because it has a great reputation for its water quality and allows solo guests to enjoy the Onsen. Just as expected, the Onsen was truly wonderful, and I enjoyed soaking many times. I also visited several public baths—hot, tingling springs like Jizo-no-Yu felt great—but Gokurakukan’s comfortably warm Onsen was perfect for a long soak. It’s also recommended for those who don’t like very hot water. Towels were available in the Room as well as in the changing area by the bath, which was very convenient. Another nice point was being able to go to the Onsen without passing through the front desk, making it easy even early in the morning. The Room was clean, and the toilet was exceptionally spotless. I was happy to find Matsumura manju served with tea snacks. The free breakfast was delicious—the bread was wonderfully chewy. I also had dinner at the restaurant on the second floor; both the curry doria and carrot salad were excellent. At check-out, the owner and staff kindly gave me detailed sightseeing tips around Kusatsu. Thanks to them, I learned about Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano Prefecture and went there using car sharing. After waiting about 30 minutes, I was lucky enough to see monkeys soaking in an Onsen—it was amazing. The next day, I used car sharing again and enjoyed Ikaho’s hot spring buns and Mizusawa udon as well. It became a truly memorable solo trip. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, and next time I’d love to stay with my family—thank you very much.

My children stayed at the Accommodation with their father for the first time. They said the food was delicious and their stay was comfortable. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and they couldn’t set off the fireworks they had been looking forward to, but it still seems to have become a wonderful memory. If we have the opportunity, we would love to visit again.

It was a truly enjoyable trip with our dog. The warm hospitality, delicious meals, and silky-smooth Onsen made us very satisfied. We were surprised at how luxurious the dog meal was! Thank you very much. The Room air conditioner felt a little weak... probably because the Room is spacious. I understand it can’t be helped in this extreme heat, though. We look forward to visiting again.

We stayed here with our beloved dog, who is 16 years and 8 months old! The friendly owner chatted with us in such a fun way, and we were very satisfied with the meals. It was especially appreciated because there aren’t many Accommodations where you can dine together with your dog. There was also an electric kettle and drip coffee set up near our Room, which was a nice touch. The bath was a brown Onsen rich in iron. The tiled design had a charming atmosphere—it's a bit chilly at first, but then you stay warm for a long time. It was truly a comfortable Accommodation. We’d love to visit again if we have the chance.

This was my third visit to Itoshima, the first in two years. Last time, after heavy rain the day before, it suddenly turned into a midsummer day, and the breathtaking sunset—changing moment by moment against the vast ocean—was truly moving. I enjoyed delicious food and the relaxed pace that only an all-inclusive stay can offer. This time had a different atmosphere and some changes. Arriving in a downpour with luggage, I climbed the stone steps to check in. What surprised me right away was “10:00 checkout”! I never expected it to be an hour earlier—maybe a pitfall of being a repeat guest? I was told it was changed because lunch service starts at 11:00 with reservations… but 10:00 still feels far too early. Since we spend about four hours round trip for an overnight stay, we want to relax as much as possible. If possible, I hope you will consider setting check-in to 16:00 and returning checkout to 11:00—I would be glad if this request from repeat guests reaches you. This time we dined while watching the post-rain evening scenery, and the food was just as delicious as ever—I was very satisfied. The soup course in particular had wonderful Japanese dashi flavor and was deeply comforting, and the tempura made from fresh squid (prepared after sashimi) was especially appreciated; as someone who loves cooking at home, having a professional fry dishes is a real treat. It was also disappointing not to see any of the staff members from previous visits. The photo shows “Itoshima Bay—an evening view after the rain.”

Great location, easy to get around, and good value for money. The Room was quiet, and I’d like to stay again. The amenities were a bit lacking for women.

We booked this Accommodation because there was a residents’ discount, so we decided to stay somewhere nicer than usual. When we stayed before, it wasn’t all-inclusive, so we were really looking forward to it this time. The dango grilling was available until 4:00 p.m. We arrived just in time at 4:00 p.m., but we were glad we still got to do it. The amazake was delicious as well. The Onsen was empty, so it felt like a private bath and was wonderful. After the bath, I went to the alcohol corner for a drink, but the room was hot. When I opened the entrance door for ventilation, it was closed again. I also couldn’t find the air conditioner switch. There was a TV installed, but no remote control, so I couldn’t turn it on. Unfortunately, I went back to our Room right away. It said free Wi-Fi was available; it worked in the lobby but not in our Room, which was disappointing. We were very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. At breakfast there were many different side dishes for rice, and I ended up running out of rice. There were a few disappointing points, but all of the staff were kind and very pleasant. The Onsen and meals were great as well, so it turned into a wonderful wedding anniversary trip.

The Onsen is simply fantastic. The indoor bath is spacious enough, and the water is pleasantly lukewarm, so you can soak slowly and relax—perfect. Its nickname, “the beauty bath,” is no exaggeration: the water feels silky-smooth and leaves your skin noticeably softer right away. I ended up bathing five times in total, using both the indoor bath and the large public bath, and was very satisfied. The meals were also excellent—homemade dishes made with local ingredients. It seems to be family-run, and I appreciated that they didn’t get involved more than necessary.

We stayed as a family. Our children really enjoyed the kid-friendly quests and fireworks. We were also able to relax in the large public bath. I do wish there had been a bit more consideration regarding the morning open-air bath tub, but the meals were just right, we could fully enjoy the wine including welcome wine, and we would like to stay again.

I was moved by the sunset from the dining area on the 7th floor. The sashimi boat platter in the Plan was very fresh and delicious. The small pork hot pot was also excellent, and I really enjoyed it with beer and sake. The bath facilities are a bit old, but the water was great—my skin felt smooth, and I could relax and warm up thoroughly. From the hallway, I could see Mt. Chokai, and it looked as if the morning sun rose from its summit, which gave me energy.\nMt. Chokai, the sea, and Yuurari—I'd love to visit again.

Three family members in our 70s stayed in a Japanese-Western style Room. It’s a Showa-era building, but the Room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We could also see a beautiful sunrise from the Room. The location was great, and we took an early-morning walk to Amanohashidate. For dinner, we chose the chef’s omakase Amanohashidate kaiseki course served in our Room, but it was far too much for us in our 70s and we felt sorry for leaving some of it. In hindsight, we should have asked about the menu before choosing the course. The bath had one tub and I recall there were seven or eight faucets and showers. It’s on the small side. It seemed that the men’s bath on the day we stayed was even smaller. The front desk staff answered our questions in a friendly manner. Overall, I think it offers very good value for money.

Room: The room and other facilities are old, but they have a charming atmosphere that added to the experience. Bath: Located in a separate building across a picturesque garden, the bath was delightful with excellent hot water. Meals: Mostly seafood dishes, including abalone sashimi. Everything was delicious and highly satisfying.

I wanted to get into Toba Aquarium first thing in the morning, so I looked for the closest Accommodation and chose this one. The building is a bit old, but it has been renovated regularly and is kept very clean, so it didn’t bother me. I really appreciated being able to stay at a reasonable price. The view is oceanfront. The large Onsen bath was also great. The meals featuring local seafood were very satisfying for both dinner and breakfast. All of the staff were kind and helpful!

We stayed here as a base for sightseeing in Amanohashidate and Ine. One of our companions fell and was injured, and when we asked for help, the staff kindly assisted us by recommending an orthopedic clinic, arranging a taxi, and adjusting our dinner time. Thanks to their support, we were able to receive proper treatment and continue our trip. The view of Amanohashidate from our Room and the bath was even better than expected—absolutely stunning—and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal that combined Kyoto cuisine with fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan. We visited Ine the next day as well; thank you for helping make it such a wonderful memory.

As per the reviews, this accommodation offered exceptional cuisine. Dinner was delicious, and the handwritten menu by the head chef for breakfast the next day added a heartfelt touch to our experience. The staff member who assisted us was very polite and attentive. Visiting the enchanting Kinrin Lake in the morning made for a wonderful memory. Thank you so much! As for future improvements, perhaps strengthening the Wi-Fi in the room would be helpful. It was quite cold walking outside to reach the onsen, so we hope to visit again during a more pleasant season.

This stay became a truly memorable experience. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles, guided us around the Accommodation with great care, and showed thoughtful attention to every detail—service that naturally made us want to return. We felt comfortable throughout our stay. The Onsen was, simply put, outstanding. Our Room had a private open-air bath that we could enjoy all to ourselves. The water temperature was perfect, and from the moment we stepped in, it felt as if all the tension left our body. Soaking slowly while looking out over the beautiful forest was pure bliss, and we enjoyed it many times during our stay. The amenities also had a wonderful fragrance and quickly became a favorite. We chose the sake tasting Plan, and each selection had its own character and was fun to compare. As a sake lover, I was especially happy to be able to order Hiroki Aiyama separately—an exceptionally rare bottle—so finding it on the menu genuinely thrilled me. It paired perfectly with Aizu dishes such as herring marinated with Japanese pepper leaves. Being able to enjoy such precious sake while traveling is a truly luxurious memory, and it felt like something unique to an Accommodation in Aizu. They also lend inflatable rings for the Onsen. At first I thought, “An inflatable ring in an Onsen?” but after trying it, I was honestly amazed by how comfortable it was. Floating effortlessly while soaking lets you relax even more deeply than usual. It made me appreciate both their creativity and their playful desire for guests to fully enjoy the Onsen experience. The inflatable ring left a strong impression—I could soak almost face-down in complete relaxation. The cuisine, Onsen, and service were all excellent; this wasn’t an Accommodation where only one aspect stood out—the entire experience was consistently high quality. Thoughtful care could be felt everywhere, and the whole place overflowed with genuine hospitality. People say travel is defined by where you stay, and this visit truly proved that saying right. From the superb Onsen and heartwarming service to the eye-opening inflatable ring experience, it became a wonderful trip filled with great memories. We would love to visit again in another season—thank you very much.”

A stunning environment with remarkable architecture. Arriving early comes with a special privilege for the first guest of the day, as a charming male staff member guided us through an empty corridor, marking the beginning of a retreat that feels like floating in the forest. The meals were exceptional and truly moving. However, because this is such a perfect retreat accommodation, certain details stood out as unusual: The white chrysanthemums displayed at the restroom sink had turned brown and wilted, and despite being the first to use it that day, there was a mix of hair clumps and dust in one corner of the restroom stall. The flowers remained unchanged for two days, catching my eye multiple times—leaving me feeling disheartened on six occasions. While I didn’t notice any trash elsewhere during my stay, seeing those flowers untouched made me wonder about how cleaning by staff is managed here. Petals are generously used in your beautiful dishes; they were delightful to enjoy and deeply appreciated. However, it left an impression that perhaps no one among your staff noticed or cared for those small chrysanthemums at handwashing areas. I sincerely hope this can be improved upon—and I look forward to visiting again!

I traveled with my dog and my elderly parents. Because my mother was undergoing breast cancer treatment, we ruled out Accommodations with large shared baths that would be used together with other guests. That’s why this kind of private, whole-house rental traditional farmhouse Accommodation was truly appreciated, and it was our first time staying here. We also found the service very comfortable—welcoming and thoughtful, yet not intrusive, with just the right sense of distance. Since the interior is a renovated old house, most areas are wooden floors except for the tatami Room(s). To be honest, that can be hard on a dog’s paws, but if you bring blankets or similar items and make sure your dog has soft places to rest and walk on as much as possible, it isn’t an issue at all. The meals provided were also delicious, and we were very satisfied. There was even a massage chair in the spacious earthen-floor area, which our family took turns using. It seems there are several other Accommodations in this series as well, so next time I’d like to visit a different one too.
