We stayed with my parents as a family. We traveled with a school-aged child and an infant, and the in-Room bath made our stay very comfortable. We truly appreciate your thoughtful consideration for our children during meals. The garden view and the river view from the open-air bath were so relaxing. My parents were very happy, and it gave us a wonderful chance to show our appreciation. Thank you very much.

This was my first stay. (Room name: Akebono-an) It was extremely comfortable, and I was able to relax and take my time. All of the staff were very kind, and it left a strong impression on me how they always greeted me with a smile. In particular, the staff member in charge of our Room supported us thoughtfully in every way—from day-to-day needs to sightseeing advice and suggestions—and I truly appreciated it. They also kindly accommodated a change to the Shuttle Service pickup/drop-off location due to our circumstances, and they handled food allergies properly as well, so we were able to stay with peace of mind. The Room had a modern, sophisticated design and was wonderful. Everything was thoroughly cleaned down to the smallest details, and it felt very fresh and spotless. I was also happy that it even had a mist sauna. Above all, the mountain views from the Room were spectacular, and we could spend time leisurely while enjoying the open scenery. Also, because meals were served in-room, we could relax in a quiet environment without worrying about surrounding noise—this was another highlight. The amenities (such as Touvert lotion) were high quality as well, and you could feel the attention to detail throughout. On the other hand, there were a few points that I felt could make it even more comfortable. If a hair iron were provided, it would be more convenient for women. Also, for indoor slippers within the building: rather than using them only up to the shoe cabinet partway down the corridor, I felt it would be clearer if guests could wear them all the way to each Room entrance—so you don’t have to walk barefoot or risk slippers being mixed up. Regarding the Room design: I thought removing closet doors and making it open would not only improve usability but also better match the current modern and refined atmosphere. The lighting around the washbasin area was slightly dim, which felt somewhat inconvenient when getting ready. I moved a tabletop mirror into the dining area to do my makeup; if that area could be made brighter around the sink counter, it would be easier to use. Also regarding shower fixtures: having an additional holder positioned at a height suitable for showering while standing would be even more convenient. I’ve listed several requests above; however overall this was an extremely satisfying stay. Thanks to everyone’s warm hospitality among your staff members at this Accommodation , we were able to spend our time comfortably and at ease. We would love to visit again.

Although it’s a secluded Accommodation deep in the mountains, it’s relatively easy to access by car and not difficult to reach. The Accommodation features classic, traditional Japanese architecture, yet it feels clean and has been thoughtfully renovated for comfort and ease of use. It was clear how much care goes into its upkeep, which I truly admire. The surrounding nature is lush, and the greenery and gentle sound of the river are very soothing. That said, the bedding mattress felt a bit firm for me personally, which was a small minus point (I didn’t wake up sore the next morning, so this is purely my personal impression). The hot spring source is around 37°C and lukewarm, but there are also heated baths, so it wasn’t an issue. If I had one wish: since I’m not fond of lukewarm water, I would have liked the heated tub to be larger. Meals were mainly simple countryside dishes, but everything was very delicious. Younger guests might find it a little light; in that case, I recommend ordering additional dishes. For us it was just the right amount—and we could get refills of rice—so we were very satisfied. Many of the staff were young, but they were always smiling and pleasant, with excellent attentiveness and consideration. This is an outstanding Accommodation that makes Japanese guests feel at ease—I hope it never changes. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This stylish A-frame vacation home is in a very quiet location. It’s far more spacious than staying in a Hotel Room, and even our family of five could truly relax without feeling cramped at all. Thanks to the baby amenities you provided, our stay was genuinely comfortable and very helpful. We sincerely appreciate your thoughtful attention to detail. The Onsen is fed directly from the source, so it may feel hot at first, but you can quickly adjust it by adding water and enjoy an exceptional soak.

The Accommodation has a nostalgic, retro feel while still being very stylish and lovely. This time we stayed in the “Japanese Twin with Terrace” Room—tatami flooring, low beds, and a deck terrace. What impressed me most was how comfortable the bed was! I was told it’s a Nishikawa Muatsu mattress, and it truly felt amazing—I slept unbelievably well. The pillow was also excellent, and I completely fell in love with the bedding. I’d like to use the same one at home, so I would really appreciate it if you could tell me which type of Muatsu it is. The Onsen was wonderful as well. All three private baths had their own unique charm and were beautiful. The large public bath was also very relaxing—I ended up going in many times during our stay. As soon as you soak in the Onsen, your body warms up right away. The water feels soft, and your skin becomes moisturized and silky smooth. I also loved that bath towels were provided at the baths, so you can always use a clean one. Truly excellent therapeutic bathing. Unfortunately it rained this time—but because of that, we were able to take our time at the Accommodation, soak in the Onsen slowly, and enjoy doing nothing. We chose a Plan with 12:00 checkout, so we didn’t have to rush in the morning and could enjoy the Onsen until the very end. And then—the meals. Absolutely no complaints. Each dish was carefully prepared and beautifully presented. It was a meal where you can truly enjoy every course for what it is. And something I’ll never forget: draft Yebisu beer! After it arrived, the foam gradually rose up into a rich head—it looked delicious even before tasting. And when I tried it… it really was incredible. I honestly thought there aren’t many places where draft beer tastes this good—it moved me. This “Joshu Beef & Gunma’s Blessings / Three Free Private Open-Air Baths / 12:00 Checkout / A Nostalgic Holiday” Plan was absolutely perfect for me. Shima Onsen in the rain is wonderful too. Soak in the Onsen, eat well, drink well—and sleep incredibly well. In this charming retro Accommodation, I had an amazing time that relaxed both my mind and body. All of the staff were pleasant as well, and the overall atmosphere throughout the Accommodation felt very comfortable. We felt great from start to finish during our stay. The Onsen, meals, bedding—and above all else—the warm hospitality from everyone on staff. Everything felt so comfortable that this is an Accommodation I definitely want to stay at again.

Searched for Accommodation with an open-air bath in the Room The Room was exactly what we wanted, and we had a wonderful holiday—no need to carry bath items or a change of clothes to the large public bath, and we could enjoy the Onsen whenever we liked. We chose a Plan with breakfast only. The dried horse mackerel was very delicious. For us, who can’t eat that much, it was just the right amount. Enjoying coffee in the lounge while taking in the lovely view overlooking the harbor was also wonderful. Although it felt like being nestled in the woods, we didn’t see any insects. It was a lovely Accommodation that we would like to use again.

I stayed with my elderly mother. After letting them know in advance, they prepared a Room close to the bath and even provided a legless chair, which we truly appreciated. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and each one was delicious—we were very satisfied. My mother was especially happy to enjoy many different dishes little by little. The bath was a milky, cloudy hot spring, with the temperature just right, and it felt wonderful no matter how many times we went in. We were able to relax and spend quality time together as parent and child while warming up slowly. Most Accommodations provide only one small towel, but here there was an extra small towel in addition to the amenity set (with towels), which I found very convenient. The experienced staff had a calm, reassuring “true hotel professional” manner, and their explanations about the facilities were very thorough. The international staff also made a great effort to explain things in Japanese, and their friendly smiles left a strong impression. I think this is an Accommodation with warm hospitality that is also considerate for families traveling with elderly relatives. I would love to visit again with my mother.

The Ryokan baths, the private bath, and the public hot springs were all wonderful. It was a shame we couldn’t visit all of the public baths, but we’d love to come back and do a full hot spring tour next time! As for amenities, we didn’t have any particular issues, but I happened to forget my makeup remover and thought it would have been helpful if the Ryokan had one available. Despite making a last-minute Reservation the day before, we received heartfelt hospitality and thoughtful attention, and were able to relax and truly unwind. Not only were the Room and meals wonderful, but the Onsen was exceptional as well, helping us forget our everyday fatigue and feel refreshed in both body and mind. Throughout our stay, we could feel the Ryokan team’s spirit of hospitality in every detail, which made us very happy. Thanks to you, it became a memorable and wonderful trip. Although I often stay in Kirishima Onsen, this was my first time in Hitoyoshi Onsen, so I chose a relatively new Accommodation. It turned out to be the perfect choice, and on the way home my companion and I kept saying, “We’re glad we picked this place.” First of all, the Facility itself is new and very well cleaned, so check-in felt comfortable and pleasant. Next, the baths: both the indoor bath and open-air bath are stone-built with deep tubs; the water was pleasantly hot and gentle on the skin—truly a “beauty bath” quality—and I was very satisfied. Meals were served for both breakfast and dinner using local ingredients in thoughtful detail; everything was delicious in just the right portions. When visiting Kumamoto I had been hoping for basashi (horse sashimi), but it wasn’t included in this Plan; it was available to order separately, so I enjoyed it that way. What helped us most was assistance with making Reservations for lunch the next day and for activity facilities, as well as answering detailed questions. They kindly accommodated our requests—such as “I want to eat seasonal salt-grilled ayu” and “I’d like to try pottery on a wheel”—all with a smile. Thank you also for seeing us off even in light rain without opening an umbrella. The salt-grilled ayu at the restaurant you recommended was excellent, and we each made pottery pieces (a plate, a bowl, and a beer glass). After firing them in the kiln, they will be glazed in our requested colors that same day and then shipped to our home once finished—we’re looking forward to receiving them. I would love to visit again; however, there is one disappointing point: there is only one Room type available for stays of two or more people, so I would appreciate more options. We stayed here on a trip with a family we know, and it was wonderful as always. I was a bit worried about the impact of the earthquake, but I finally visited Kurokawa Onsen, which I had always wanted to see. It truly felt like an Onsen among Onsens, and I was able to relax and unwind. The meals were also delicious, making it a wonderful stay. I couldn’t help noticing the Kumamon sitting at the front desk, and ended up giving it a hug. I’d love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

We had a truly wonderful stay. We stayed for two nights with our 1-year-old daughter. Dinner and breakfast were included, and the food was outstanding. They thoughtfully accommodated our child’s meals, taking her egg allergy and the size of the ingredients into consideration, and she was very happy. The staff also looked after her throughout, so we could enjoy our meal with peace of mind. The Room has special touches that help you forget the busyness of everyday life. Thanks to that, we were able to enjoy an extraordinary experience we don’t usually get to have. We would love to return again next time.

Perched on a hill near Kawana Station, this Accommodation has a wonderful sense of charm. Even though it is upscale, the attendants were warm and approachable, making our stay truly comfortable. The Onsen baths are available both indoors and outdoors, and we could enjoy them at the same time; the water quality was excellent. The kaiseki dinner was outstanding—as expected of a renowned Ryokan—and we enjoyed it so much that we even had the late-night snack. The peaceful atmosphere, with occasional birdsong, was so soothing that we didn’t want to leave. We will definitely return.

This was our 12th stay. It’s one of our favorite Accommodations as a couple. We love being able to relax in a quiet place with nothing around. The Room is spacious, clean, and comfortable. We would be happy if there were a small buffet, such as a salad bar, not only at breakfast but also at dinner. We had another very pleasant stay this time as well. We’d love to come again. This is the oldest hot spring in the San’in region, and it’s also a natural free-flowing Onsen—an absolute must for an Onsen enthusiast like me (laugh). The building does feel old because of its long history, but that’s part of its charm, and I hope it will continue for many years to come. The meals were a bit too much for me as an older guest; I would have preferred smaller portions with higher quality. The staff were wonderful. Thank you very much.

This was our third summer here. This year again, I stayed with my daughter. It was another scorching summer, and we had been spending our days in temperatures higher than body temperature, but Yufuin felt like a different world—so cool and refreshing. In the mornings and evenings, the air was pleasantly chilly with a gentle breeze. Even while soaking in the Onsen, it felt truly comfortable. The Onsen here is wonderful, and even in summer you can relax and soak at ease. The wind was strong due to an approaching typhoon, but the soothing rustling of the trees made it even nicer. Needless to say, every dish was delicious. We enjoyed flavors we’d never had before—it was such a pleasure. We’re always amazed by the chef’s creativity. Thank you as well to all the staff for your courteous service. We were able to relax completely. It became a fun and healing trip for just me and my daughter. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

This was an Accommodation I’d wanted to visit for a long time. I was hoping for the riverside bath and a starry sky, but due to the river running high and cloudy weather, it didn’t happen. Still, the Accommodation was wonderful, so I was completely satisfied. At check-in, we were served delicious homemade sweets: hanamame beans with shiratama in kinako and kuromitsu. The proprietress and staff were very pleasant, and the hot spring bath—fed directly from the source—overflowed generously and felt amazing. The meals were beautifully presented using local ingredients, and we were happily full. The Room was clean and relaxing, with the sound of the river (it was quite loud this time because of the high water, but I’m sure it’s usually soothing). It was also lovely to see small wildflowers displayed throughout. It’s an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again and again. We will definitely return.

We had an incredibly fulfilling stay. From the interior and exterior design to the furniture, decor, fixtures, amenities, lawn, and open grounds, this was a wonderfully comfortable Facility where you can feel the attention to detail everywhere. The interior is unified in a calm design, with very high ceilings that create an airy sense of openness, allowing us to fully enjoy a special time away from everyday life. The vanity area and bathroom were especially spacious and impressive—made with high-quality materials and kept impeccably clean down to every corner. The amenities also felt thoughtfully chosen; for example, Aesop hand soap was provided at the sink. All essential cookware and appliances were available, so we could stay comfortably without any inconvenience. We even enjoyed handheld fireworks in the garden. The views of Mt. Fuji and the Southern Alps were also stunning—scenery you could gaze at for hours without noticing time pass. Most memorable of all were the wood-fired sauna and cold plunge bath. The wood-fired sauna was exceptional—enjoying it while feeling the flicker of flames, hearing the crackle of burning logs, and breathing in the scent of wood was truly special. Unlike an electric heater, it had a gentle heat that warmed us slowly from deep within and helped us relax completely. A large amount of sauna stones were thoroughly heated, so we could also enjoy pleasant steam from löyly. It’s an ideal setup that I would highly recommend even to dedicated sauna lovers. They added ice to the cold plunge bath multiple times for us, so we could cool down properly. Paired with the wood-fired sauna, it was perfect—we fully enjoyed every session. In the evening we enjoyed a BBQ, and we really appreciated that the owner prepared everything—from lighting the fire to setting everything up. On top of that, we received a generous gift of fresh vegetables grown by his wife. They were all rare varieties you don’t often see day-to-day, and you could feel careful attention not only in each vegetable but also in their labels and packaging. We tried them right away at our BBQ—especially the eggplant, which was unbelievably tender and delicious. Beyond how wonderful both the Facility itself and its location are, we were truly moved by the owners’ thoughtful hospitality as well. In this extraordinary setting—with beautiful views, a wood-fired sauna experience like no other،and BBQ—we spent a luxurious yet deeply comfortable time here. We would love to stay again. I stayed here on a solo trip. Because it is small, everything is well cared for, making it a very pleasant Accommodation. From the aroma scents to the polished furnishings, attention to detail can be felt throughout, and the whole Accommodation has a warm wooden feel. The corner Room by the clear stream also had a raised terrace area where I could relax. Since there are only a few Rooms, I was able to enjoy the bath without overlapping with other guests and soak at ease. Thank you very much—I would love to stop by again.
