We stayed to celebrate my partner’s birthday. In our Room, there were welcome fruits, a towel cake and cake for the birthday celebration, and a message card from the Hotel staff. I initially wondered if paying around 100,000 yen for one night in Kyoto—an easy day trip—might be a bit too extravagant, but we also received Hotel credit as an IKYU Gold member benefit, and overall it turned out to be a very satisfying stay. We enjoyed the Hotel activities and the bath facilities, and I was also happy with the daruma we received when leaving. After turndown service, the soft drinks in the refrigerator had been replenished as well. These days more Hotels don’t even offer turndown service, so I felt that Six Senses really takes care of those details—exactly as you’d expect. For me it was definitely a splurge stay, but since our satisfaction level was high, I’d love to come back again when I have the chance.

As the property is relatively new, the building, Facility, and amenities were all new and spotless. The appliances were thoughtfully selected too—I liked them so much I wanted to use them at home, and I even bought some after returning. Since it is set a little back from the road, we were able to spend our time in peace and quiet. We also encountered wild rabbits and deer, which made it feel like a true getaway. Despite the typhoon’s impact, we still enjoyed a barbecue! Our dog seemed to have a great time as well. We would love to stay again.

A beautiful Japanese-modern building and an impressive, spacious interior. Japanese aesthetics can be felt throughout, and it was a wonderfully comfortable stay—“spacious, yet instantly relaxing.” The welcome service at CAFE SKY LIBRARY was excellent, and we were truly impressed by the staff’s understated hospitality. The large public bath and sauna were also very comfortable, allowing us to unwind and recover from travel fatigue. Getting to the airport was smoother than expected thanks to the moving walkways. We were even able to enjoy shopping at the airport early the next morning. When traveling in Hokkaido, this is a Hotel we would definitely want to stay at as our final stop.

From the Shuttle Service from the parking lot to the attentive hospitality, meals, and everything in between, everything was perfect and made for a truly comfortable stay. While many places in recent years have reduced staff and their service feels lacking, this long-established Ryokan showed us the true essence of thoughtful hospitality—anticipating every need. As long as I am able, I would love to return again on my next opportunity.

I had a wonderful stay. I accidentally arrived at Glover Garden, so I called the Hotel and they kindly helped me. When I entered, they greeted me very politely: “Were you the one who called earlier? We’ve been waiting for you—you arrived sooner than we expected.” After that, every staff member continued to treat me with warm hospitality. That alone made me feel glad I chose this Hotel. In the lobby there are two counters—one open until 10:30 p.m. and another available all day—where you can enjoy as many drinks and snacks as you like. Since I arrived late, I do regret not getting there earlier so I could have tried more from the limited-time counter. The braised pork and chocolate were delicious; there was plenty of braised pork left, so if I hadn’t eaten too much at my dinner gathering, I could have finished it all… maybe next time. Still, the all-day counter was more than enough to enjoy. The lounge also has a great selection of books, so I stayed up a bit reading while enjoying tea and sweets from the all-day counter. It was such a relaxing time. Breakfast in a steamer basket was comforting and delicious as well—the yuzu miso was especially amazing. They also had loquat and mandarin drinks. I expected them to be sweet, but they tasted properly like tea with just a subtle hint of flavor. Personally (with my sweet tooth), the mandarin juice added to the all-day counter in the morning was particularly tasty. There is no Onsen (as expected), and while this is clear if you check in advance, toothbrushes are not provided for sustainability reasons. However, there’s a convenience store about 50 meters away from the Hotel, so it wasn’t inconvenient at all. I’ll definitely come again! Thank you very much for such a wonderful time.

We visited for a family trip to celebrate our daughter’s marriage. As it was formerly an art museum, we were overwhelmed by the meticulously designed building by Tadao Ando and the many artworks displayed throughout the property. The Room was extremely comfortable, and the pool we had been looking forward to was wonderful—we were able to fully enjoy this extraordinary space. We expected Western cuisine, but instead were delighted by beautifully refined Japanese dishes. The drink pairings matched to each course were perfect, and every dish moved us. The congratulatory wedding cake we had ordered was also truly delicious and became a wonderful keepsake. We sincerely appreciate the warm hospitality of all the staff. This is a superb Hotel where architecture, art, and food are all in harmony, and we would love to stay again.

Everything was taken care of, and we truly appreciated your hospitality. Every dish was outstanding, and the timing of each course was perfect. In particular, after enjoying the Takachiho beef, the tempura that followed surprised me—I thought I was too full to eat it, but one bite changed my mind. It was wonderfully crisp, not greasy at all, and pleasantly light. It was the best tempura I’ve ever had. Our room attendant was from overseas, and there were moments when Japanese was a little hard to understand, but they did their very best to look after us. Thank you very much.

I visited by car with my husband and son on our first family trip in a while. We were delighted by the elegant lobby and lounge, beautifully decorated with flowers and furnishings, and by the stunning view of the cove from the windows. The cave-style bath we had been looking forward to, as well as the panoramic bath, were wonderfully relaxing, with silky-smooth water as we enjoyed the scenery. For dinner, we had an exquisite kaiseki course in a private dining room. We chose sashimi made from locally caught fish of the day, and every dish was outstanding—beautifully presented with impressive table settings. We also enjoyed freshly grilled fugu prepared right in front of us, along with a sake tasting. After dinner, we played darts, enjoyed wine at the bar, and went back to the baths—making the most of our stay. Our Room also had a fantastic view, and we were able to truly unwind. This is an unforgettable Accommodation that I would love to visit again.

I found this Facility on IKYU and liked it so much that I made a Reservation. Just as expected, I thoroughly enjoyed the Facility, the meals, and the Onsen (ceramic bath). During a conversation with the staff at dinner, we talked about Hachimantai’s Dragon Eye. They told me they had gone there after borrowing rental boots and that it was wonderful. So I went the next day right away. Like Zao Okama last year, I was moved by the breathtaking scenery. It was a truly great stay—enjoying both the magnificent nature and the delicious meals at the Facility. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

This was my second stay at this auberge. I was deeply moved on my previous visit, so this time I brought my family. The simple Room felt very relaxing, and the thoughtfully prepared cuisine was not only delicious but also beautiful to look at. Everyone who served the meals—led by Madame and the chef—was courteous and kind, making both dinner and breakfast truly wonderful. Everything we purchased to take home, including paella, hamburg steak, jam, and cheesecake, was delicious; even now, about a month after our stay, they bring back fond memories of Auberge de Oishi.

This was our third summer here. This year again, I stayed with my daughter. It was another scorching summer, and we had been spending our days in temperatures higher than body temperature, but Yufuin felt like a different world—so cool and refreshing. In the mornings and evenings, the air was pleasantly chilly with a gentle breeze. Even while soaking in the Onsen, it felt truly comfortable. The Onsen here is wonderful, and even in summer you can relax and soak at ease. The wind was strong due to an approaching typhoon, but the soothing rustling of the trees made it even nicer. Needless to say, every dish was delicious. We enjoyed flavors we’d never had before—it was such a pleasure. We’re always amazed by the chef’s creativity. Thank you as well to all the staff for your courteous service. We were able to relax completely. It became a fun and healing trip for just me and my daughter. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

We arrived by car, and even in the heat we were greeted before we even reached the entrance. Sometimes you’re welcomed after arriving at the entrance, or staff are stationed at the entrance to greet you—but this time they were already waiting out front. Isn’t that almost too wonderful? The welcome drink was delicious as well. This time we chose a lower grade and stayed in the Residence building. Getting from the Main building to the Residence requires walking a short distance outside, so it might be a concern on rainy days. There are also a few stairs, but staff will carry your luggage, so it shouldn’t be an issue. There is a private Onsen along the way, so for those who plan to use it, staying in the Residence may actually be more convenient. The Room was spacious enough. Our pre-requested baby cot, diaper bin, baby bath, etc., were already set up in the Room, so families with babies can stay with peace of mind. The indoor bath is an Onsen with free-flowing natural spring water in the Room. The temperature was perfect—absolutely wonderful. The BVLGARI amenities were also great. Breakfast was delicious, and the portions were just right—more than enough. As for the cuisine overall, I think the chef’s skill is outstanding. At dinner service most guests dress neatly, so for men it’s better to wear something with a collar to match the atmosphere. On our first stay last time we didn’t know what to expect and dressed too casually—lesson learned. Shorts and a T-shirt would probably still be fine; this is simply about maintaining the overall ambiance. The outer-side seating likely has better views, but if you have children I recommend sitting on the lobby side—you don’t have to worry as much about others there, which really helps. If your baby starts crying hard nonstop (as babies do), you can simply step out. I’m very interested in dinner as well, but with a baby we couldn’t use it considering the atmosphere—hopefully someday. The evening ambiance is wonderful. Service is excellent as expected—from checkout through seeing us off was superb—and I honestly wonder if there is any Accommodation that surpasses this one. Given today’s times I imagine staff training must be challenging everywhere, but this Accommodation’s hospitality stands out as truly exceptional. Thank you to all staff members and chefs alike. Thank you again for another wonderful stay.

I stayed here as a birthday gift for my sister. We were amazed the moment we entered the Room—not only did you prepare a Room with a view of the five-story pagoda, but you also gifted us sparkling wine to celebrate. My sister was absolutely thrilled. In the lounge, we enjoyed a wide variety of drinks and alcohol, along with visually stunning sweets and carefully crafted dishes. At night, we dined at the rooftop bar while taking in Kyoto’s night views. For breakfast, I chose a conger eel hot pot—something rare for a Hotel breakfast—and truly savored Kyoto’s summer flavors. We were also able to visit Kiyomizu-dera early in the morning when it was quiet and uncrowded, which made us very happy. It seems it became a wonderful memory for my sister as well. Thank you very much for taking so many photos for us.

Our first time in Noto. Every year, we stay at various seaside places on family trips, and this time we were able to spend a truly memorable moment. You kindly checked in with us about the view affected by the earthquake, but we felt that was part of our connection as well, and we want to cherish it. Everyone on Notojima was so warm, and it was clear how deeply they care for Noto—it really came through to us. The hospitality here is the best we have experienced among all the Accommodations we have stayed at. The sushi dinner featured mostly local ingredients from Noto and the surrounding area. Everything was so fresh—full of items we don’t usually get to eat—and we were genuinely impressed. The staff’s every gesture was pleasant, making our stay very comfortable. For breakfast, we enjoyed a delicious meal while looking out at the sea and feeling time pass slowly. I believe their commitment to local ingredients and caring for what matters is what makes it taste so good. It’s not an easy place for us to revisit due to the distance, but this is a truly wonderful Accommodation that makes us want to return in another season.

Not only were the Facility, amenities, cuisine, and location excellent, but above all, the staff’s attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and care were outstanding—my husband and I were impressed again and again. During meals, they noticed even our smallest movements and responded immediately. My favorite part was the corner where guests can freely read books. Cold barley tea was neatly prepared as well, and while enjoying the beautiful view outside, I was able to spend a quiet, unhurried time as if time had stopped. It was a Ryokan we were completely satisfied with. We will definitely come again!

With Hotel rates rising lately, I hadn’t had many chances to stay, but with my birthday coming up, I visited again for the first time in a while. These days, many Hotels seem busy with inbound travelers, and it’s often hard to receive Diamond member benefits. Here, even though the Hotel was nearly full, they still provided them, which made me very happy. The Room was just as before—very clean, with large windows and a great view. It felt like a unit in a luxury apartment building, and I was able to truly relax. The service was excellent and made me want to stay for as many nights as possible. I can’t visit often, but I hope to come again soon. Thank you very much.

It was our first time staying here!! Our dog was thrilled with the spacious yard. In the evening, we relaxed with a BBQ and a campfire—such a great time. There were also drinks and amenities provided, so it’s a perfect 100/100!! We went ahead and made another Reservation. We look forward to staying again next time!!

It was two days full of surprise and inspiration. I only knew it was a museum Hotel, and to be honest, I came mainly for Briance—but it truly felt like an actual museum. Even while exploring the building, the staff kindly provided detailed explanations, which made it even more enjoyable. Every piece is one of a kind, and through the art tour program we also received in-depth commentary. I understood why so many guests return again and again, and it made me want to explore even more myself. The Room was very comfortable and easy to use, the lounge food was delicious, and even though we had dinner at Briance—the original purpose of our visit—we ended up fully enjoying the bar and lounge as well. The wonderful smiles and thoughtful hospitality from all the staff were outstanding, allowing us to spend a truly relaxing holiday. Thank you very much. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed Briance as well.

During my Kyushu trip in mid-June, I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay (2 nights) in the “Chikurintei—Panoramic Open-Air Bath (Japanese-Western Room)” nestled within Mifuneyama Rakuen’s vast grounds. I stayed in the “Yamazakura” Room, which offered views of Mt. Mifune from the corridor and garden, and even had a private gate with direct access to Mifuneyama Rakuen. The open-air bath is a standing-style bath set among trees. It creates a unique floating sensation, and because the water pressure is applied evenly over the whole body, I felt less fatigue afterward. Being able to enjoy the garden and sky while standing also adds to the wonderful sense of openness. The Onsen water is clear and colorless—an alkaline simple spring—with an exceptionally gentle feel on the skin, so I never tired of soaking. The indoor bath is heated groundwater, but I also enjoyed it: the hinoki tub was very comfortable, and it didn’t take long to fill. What stood out most was the outstanding quality of dinner. The kaiseki course featuring seasonal local ingredients such as Takezaki crab immediately draws you in with its dashi—clear yet deeply flavorful, beautifully balanced. Each dish reflected the season in both taste and presentation: refined and truly beautiful. Beyond ingredient quality alone, there was a confident simplicity backed by real skill. Even on a Multiple Night Stay, every meal was flawless at an exceptional level. Simply superb—thank you for such a feast. Another highlight was visiting teamLab’s art installations at the affiliated Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel on the same grounds (guests of Chikurintei can enter free). From the moment you step into the lobby, you’re struck by countless lamps evoking forest flowers and sunlight filtering through trees. The most breathtaking work was “Megalis in Ruins Bathhouse,” where digital projections of seasonal flowers illuminate massive stones rising throughout an abandoned public-bath space. When we visited, different scenes cycled continuously—twelve distinct visuals representing all months—and we became fully immersed for about an hour until they completed one full round late at night before closing. Also worth mentioning: the cold-brew coffee served in the lounge area was delicious—I refilled it many times and enjoyed it back in my Room as well. To everyone at “Oyado Chikurintei,” thank you sincerely for creating such a wonderful stay. I will absolutely return when I visit Takeo Onsen again.

True to its name as an auberge, the most outstanding part was, above all, the cuisine. The dishes created by a young chef in his twenties used local ingredients and were finished with techniques like careful cooking and fermentation that brought out each ingredient’s natural character. Each plate felt full of energy; the moment it touched my lips, deep, nourishing flavors overflowed. Everything was beautiful to look at as well, and my heart lifted every time a new dish arrived. Listening to the explanations of each course was also a pleasure. Conversation flowed naturally and effortlessly, and even though I stayed alone, I never felt lonely—I simply had a wonderful time. When I showed interest in the modern art throughout the property, I was delighted that the manager took the time to explain each piece one by one. I could sense the owner’s taste and philosophy behind the collection. Every work had its own character, including a Banksy lithograph. Rather than simply displaying art, it felt as though the owner’s aesthetic vision for what this Hotel should be was expressed throughout the entire space. The sea seen from the window was wonderfully calm; without rushing toward checkout time, I was able to relax at ease until departure. A Hotel stay filled with warm hospitality—I would love to return again.
