We stayed here with our family just after the Obon holidays. Hot springs and good food are part of the fun of traveling, but discovering a different region is another big pleasure. I hesitated for a moment between heading straight to the baths or joining the in-house tour, but joining was absolutely the right choice. Using a PowerPoint presentation, they gave an engaging explanation not only about the connection to an animated film, but also about the history of the inn and the area, and even how Niigata lies just beyond the mountains. The tour also included moving to places like the old accounting office and a bridge for further explanations—very fulfilling overall. I thought it was wonderful to have a program that satisfies intellectual curiosity (and it could even provide ideas for kids’ summer homework). The property consists of three separate buildings connected across varying elevations within the grounds. Our room had an open-air bath as well, and my only regret is that we didn’t have time to try every bath.

I stayed here on my first trip to Kamakura. The room was clean, and the breakfast was delicious. Above all, the staff’s warm hospitality and smiles made my two-day stay truly comfortable—thank you so much. If I visit Kamakura again, I would love to stay here again. Thank you!

I stayed in a double Room with my daughter. All of the staff were polite and very pleasant. The key was a standard type, and while the Room had a slightly retro feel that showed its age, it felt clean and didn’t bother me at all—perhaps because everything was so thoroughly cleaned. I could even tell how careful the housekeeping was from the way the hair dryer cord was neatly wrapped. I really appreciated being able to enjoy a delicious breakfast for free.

Thank you for taking care of us the other day. I hope this will be helpful to others, so I’ll share my comments by category below. Guestroom & Amenities: We were accommodated in the large room on the 1st floor. Incense was gently burning, which made it very pleasant. The restroom was also spacious, so even elderly guests can feel at ease. The water provided in the in-room refrigerator was truly delicious. Hospitality & Service: This was exceptionally good. The proprietress was very kind, and my two elderly parents seemed genuinely happy. Everyone else as well treated us not by following a script, but with their own sincere words and attitude. I’ve stayed at quite a few places over the years, but this is not something easily done. In the end, I believe this is how true care is conveyed. Hot Springs: We gave the private open-air bath to an elderly couple, and I used the large public bath on the 2nd floor. The quality of the water was excellent—so much so that I almost regretted rinsing off afterward. I took a look at the open-air bath too; it was beautifully decorated with flowers. That said, they mentioned that the water temperature felt a bit low—but that’s simply personal preference. Facilities & Equipment: Since there are only stairs, going up to higher floors may be difficult for elderly guests. We stayed on the 1st floor, so it wasn’t an issue for us. Seasonal flowers were displayed at corners along the hallway, creating a lovely atmosphere. I also wished I could have spent more time looking at the Chichibu Meisen display corner. Meals: No complaints about either taste or portion size. The finishing udon noodles were light and refreshing—excellent. Also, the multigrain rice was wonderfully soft; it tasted completely different from what we cook at home. Overall Satisfaction: There is a star rating system; on a 5-point scale, every category is 5 out of 5. If it were out of 10 then it would be 10/10—and if out of 100 then it would be 100/100. We had no complaints at all—only thoroughly satisfying time throughout our stay. With my elderly parents’ stamina and traveling such a long distance to stay overnight, this will probably be our last trip together. It may sound like closing remarks, but I’m truly glad we chose your inn. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Lastly, to our dinner attendant (I apologize for not asking your name), please take good care of your knee. We look forward to visiting again someday.

I checked in late at night and had given up on enjoying the hotel that day, but the soft-feeling water and soothing background music in the large public bath completely relaxed me, and I ended up soaking longer than usual. I also enjoyed a wonderfully aromatic decaf from the espresso machine in the lobby, then unwound and slept soundly. At breakfast, a different main dish from what I ordered was brought out, but when I mentioned it they promptly remade it and brought it to me. I happily enjoyed a hearty, delicious breakfast that made great use of Kyoto ingredients and flavors, felt fully refreshed from the day before, and checked out feeling energized. All of the staff were friendly, with warm smiles and gentle manners. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of central Kyoto—very convenient yet quiet. Thank you for taking such good care of me! I’d love to stay again.

I think this Accommodation is perfect for a stay during the Gion Festival. I also enjoyed both the Italian and Japanese cuisine. Watching a maiko dance during my stay became a wonderful memory—thank you very much. It seems that, in exchange for opening the lounge, the drinks in the refrigerator have been limited to mineral water only. However, because the lounge has short opening hours, it was not very convenient. I usually stay at Hiramatsu-level Accommodations, but this was the first time I had to buy sparkling mineral water at a convenience store during my stay. That said, it is still a great Accommodation, and I would be happy to stay again.

While solo stays at Onsen Accommodations can be difficult to find, Uematsuya is a welcome option for solo travelers. They also offer a Shuttle Service from the station, which was a big help with my heavy luggage. Bessho Onsen is a small hot spring town, so you can explore the sights on foot. The Ryokan’s Facility is old but well maintained and clean. I was able to enjoy the Onsen at a relaxed pace without running into other guests. The meals were delicious as well. At the dining area, a trainee served us with great dedication, which was truly heartwarming to see.

We stayed here as three generations—my mother-in-law, my husband, myself, and our children. The inn was very quiet, and since there was only one other group besides us, we were able to relax and enjoy a peaceful stay. For the bath, we could check availability on the signboard next to the reception desk, which made it easy to go in when it was free. My mother-in-law, my daughter, and I were able to enjoy it almost like a private bath together across three generations—such a wonderful memory. We were told the meals use herbal medicine ingredients, but there was no strong taste at all—just gentle, wholesome flavors that were truly delicious. They also prepared special dishes for our 6- and 5-year-old children, who were thrilled and really enjoyed their meal. In our room they provided both beds and futons. The children and I slept on futons while my mother-in-law and husband used the beds. Being able to separate sleeping arrangements according to everyone’s routine made our multi-generational stay very comfortable. There is also a river behind the inn, and in the morning my husband and son went for a walk. It seems they had a refreshing start to the day surrounded by nature. The food, the baths, and the staff’s hospitality were all excellent—we were completely satisfied with our stay. If I had one small note: there are quite a few stairs inside the building, so older guests or anyone with mobility concerns may find getting around a bit challenging. Other than that, everything was truly comfortable, and our whole family had a wonderful time. We would love to stay again if we have another opportunity.

The trip was originally planned because we were determined to see Nagano’s first National Treasure—the octagonal three-story pagoda at Anraku-ji Temple. We enjoyed the journey, visiting the footbath, Kitamuki Kannon Hall, and Anraku-ji, but when we returned home, the memories of Ryokan Hanaya came to mind first. From the hospitality and cuisine to the marble bath, the wood-rich architecture and signage, and even the staff attire at breakfast and dinner—every detail reflected a sincere commitment to putting guests first. It reminded us what true “omotenashi” really is. Fresh flowers were arranged throughout the property as well, which was wonderfully calming. Thanks to you, we had a truly memorable trip. Having stayed at Intergate Hiroshima before and knowing the lounge’s wide range of services, I decided to make a Reservation in Kyoto. Choosing the attractive breakfast plan naturally increased the price, but thanks to IKYU.com’s system that lets you use Earn Points right away, it ended up being cheaper than anywhere else. I was also surprised by how many points were awarded. On the day, I enjoyed coffee, sweets, wine, and ochazuke; the large public bath was very relaxing. The next morning brought smoothies and a delicious breakfast buffet. I was able to take my time exploring Kyoto and also enjoy a relaxing staycation.

Our stay, originally planned for August, was moved to September, and we truly appreciated the warm words and kind support from the staff. They also kindly adjusted the ingredients to accommodate my partner’s picky eating, and we enjoyed a delicious meal. The sake was excellent as well—I couldn’t help but keep refilling my cup. It was a wonderful stay that left both body and mind fully satisfied. We would love to visit again.

They assigned us the convenient Room we had requested in advance, and we were able to enjoy a comfortable Multiple Night Stay. It was fun to have a different roller blind from last time! Shinsaibashi and Namba are within walking distance—not too close, not too far. After walking around all day, we could relax and soothe our tired bodies in the bathtub. We also appreciated having a separate bath and toilet. Thank you for the thoughtful care from the Hotel staff. Thank you again for all your help on this trip. We will stay here again when we visit Osaka!

It’s very quiet—around the lobby, in the restaurant, and in the garden as well. It’s a space where you won’t be bothered by people or noise; that’s what makes this small property special, true to its name as an annex. We chose the smallest Room type, and it was more compact than we expected (in a good way). If you plan to spend a lot of time in your Room, a larger one facing the garden would be better. Breakfast is Nouvelle Époque despite (or perhaps because of) the intimate size. It feels more relaxed yet elegant than Toranomon. There are also Kyoto touches, and they even offer French toast—so we could enjoy that Okura feel too. Please let us stay again when we’re looking for a slow trip without trying to do too much!

Located just steps from Meitetsu Gifu Station, the Hotel is clean and well-maintained, likely because it is relatively new. The Room was spacious for a Business Hotel. However, the mattress and pillow were firm for my preference, causing discomfort in my back and head. Additionally, the thin blanket made it difficult to stay warm without increasing the air conditioning temperature. While this was disappointing for me personally, everything else about the Hotel was excellent.

My elderly mother, her friend, and I (her daughter) started a deli one year ago. This time, we stayed here for our 1st anniversary staff trip. I deliberately didn’t tell my mother and her friend what kind of ryokan it was, so they were amazed by the surprise from the moment we arrived. Starting with the comfortable shuttle ride from Izu-Nagaoka Station, everything was wonderful—the entrance lobby space, the garden, the hot springs, the room, and the meals. Every moment was truly exceptional. Not only was the large public bath great, but the bath in our room was also fantastic! Even though my mother and her friend usually eat small portions, they ate a lot that day. And although we tend to be short on exercise in everyday life, we were able to walk a lot while exploring around the property. It felt like my heart, body—and stomach—were all completely satisfied. We made unforgettable memories. Thank you so much for such a wonderful time. As someone who loves architecture, next time I’d love to come back with someone who shares that interest. I’d also love to see your garden in autumn colors and try staying in a different room as well.

Close to the stone steps, we were able to leave our luggage before check-in and enjoy exploring the area. The bath water temperature was just right, so we could relax and soak for a long time. Of course, the hot spring quality was excellent. The changing Room was also very clean and comfortable. The meals were filling, and we were very satisfied. I forgot to mention this to the staff when checking out, but the TV remote in the Room didn’t work—possibly due to dead batteries—so we operated it using the buttons on the TV itself.

The exterior gives the impression of a traditional hotel, but once inside, it feels like a bright and clean luxury Ryokan. The rooms and hallways have a touch of Showa retro atmosphere, yet everything is impeccably clean and well-maintained. The staff's hospitality is excellent. As for the meals, true to the hotel's name, there are many recipes featuring apples that were both enjoyable and delicious. However, the highlight was definitely the Onsen. The large public bath was almost always private whenever I visited, and the water quality was incredibly smooth—leaving my skin warm and moisturized after bathing. I also appreciated how they separated bathing areas for day visitors and overnight guests, which added to the special feeling of staying there. The welcome apple was not only delicious but also a charming idea that brought warmth to my experience. I would love to visit again!

This was our first stay, traveling with a couple in their 60s and our 3-year-old grandchild. The staff were very kind, the food was delicious, and our grandchild happily ate the handmade soba saying, “So good! So good!” Our grandchild has atopic dermatitis and allergies, so the foods they can eat are limited. They usually eat soba at home, but freshly made soba tastes different—and even a small child can tell how delicious it is. The hot spring was also at just the right temperature, and we are truly glad we stayed here. Our grandchild kept saying, “That was fun!” so we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

This is a top-tier resort hotel that makes the most of its stunning lakeside location on Lake Biwa. I chose the plan with lounge access (breakfast service), and it was absolutely the right choice. This stay was for work, but if I have the chance, I’d like to choose the same plan again next time with my wife. During my stay, we were blessed with great weather and I was able to enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the lake. It even made me wonder if Oda Nobunaga once looked out on the same view from Azuchi Castle.
