Enjoy glamping in a dome tent, and the Facility also features an extra-large kids’ play area. It kept the kids happily worn out all day, so we could relax and enjoy some quiet time together in the evening—an excellent place overall. The meals were quite tasty as well, with a nice mix of Japanese and Western options to enjoy. In the evening, they even offered complimentary handheld fireworks—truly thoughtful service. We stayed for two nights this time; one night would feel rushed, so we recommend two nights as just right.

There was no noise from neighboring rooms, and I had a comfortable stay. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I slept well. The large TV was also a great feature, and I was glad I could watch YouTube. It would be even better if makeup remover were provided among the amenities.

We used various deals to stay at a great price. At first, we were thinking of staying at Sunayama, but this place was more than enough. It’s compact, but it has all the essentials, and there was even a swim ring. If I had to mention one thing, I would have liked a washing machine in the Room. One more thing: you can cook in the Room, but there were no seasonings provided, so it was hard to decide what to make. Overall, it was very good. Thank you very much.

I stayed here two years ago and it was amazing. This time, even though it was raining due to back-to-back typhoons, it didn’t matter at all—our stay was wonderful again. I heard the interior was fully renovated about a year and a half ago, and the Room has been updated with a modern feel. It’s stairs up to around the 5th floor, but each step is low, so getting around isn’t difficult. Our two dogs get excited the moment they arrive when they like an Accommodation, and they were thrilled this time as well. They even used the provided toilet just like at home. Since they’re timid, we didn’t use the dog run. I tried three Onsen baths, and all of them were perfect—the temperature was just right. The food is simply outstanding. The sashimi is expertly prepared, and there’s more than enough overall—I couldn’t finish everything. I especially love how Shiki no Kura serves abalone, and it was truly delicious again this time. Even compared with top Hotels and Ryokan across The whole country, this place ranks among the best. Breakfast was also excellent: a selection of side dishes that anyone would enjoy paired with rice cooked in a clay pot. The staff’s guidance and conversation were great, as were their thoughtful touches in the Room. After breakfast I took a nap and checked out at 11:00—honestly, I relaxed even more than my dogs did. The building itself does feel old in places; when I wiped the floor it came up dirty. But everywhere has something these days due to staffing shortages, so it didn’t bother me. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that prices fluctuate quite a bit during Kawazu cherry blossom season and other peak times. If it were always reasonably priced, I’d make this my regular go-to (laugh). I will definitely be back again.

We stayed in the Kozu Room. The Room was spacious and comfortable. Although the facilities are mostly shared with Kowakien, they are clearly separated in various ways, which was great. The meals were delicious and more than we could finish. All the staff were courteous, and we had a wonderful time. This is an Accommodation I can recommend.

A luxurious, unhurried escape right in front of the sea. The private pool, sauna, and relaxation area were fantastic—an ideal space to enjoy without worrying about anyone around you. Spending time at a leisurely pace while taking in the ocean view was truly soothing, making it easy to forget everyday life and fully unwind. Rather than packing your schedule with sightseeing, this villa is perfect for those who want to slow down and simply enjoy being here. It was very clean. We stayed with our relatives, including four junior high and high school students! The Onsen pool temperature can be adjusted, and even after soaking for two hours we didn’t feel tired. There is also a washer-dryer with detergent provided, so we were able to finish all our laundry and check out with everything clean! Next time the kids are eager to try again—bringing rice and using the rice cooker too. The only reason I deducted one star for the Facility was that there are some overly stylish steps/level changes, and you can unexpectedly drop down, which was startling. Not only my elderly mother, but even adults nearly stepped wrong and could have hurt a foot or their back. In particular, the entrance to the bath area was hard to see due to the colors and felt dangerous. Still, it was a wonderful place! We’ll definitely stay again.

We stayed as three generations—my elderly mother, myself, and my child. The Room had a calm atmosphere, and the Onsen with its unique jungle-style bath was unlike anything else. The meals made great use of local ingredients, and we were very satisfied. My mother was delighted as well, and it became a wonderful travel memory for us.

We chose this Accommodation for our wedding anniversary, hoping for somewhere a little special this year. My husband and I are usually busy with our own schedules, and we’re often surprised by how little time we have to talk at home, but that day we ended up reminiscing about old memories the whole time (laugh). The staff were considerate and didn’t speak to us more than necessary, which made us feel they truly valued our time together. In the morning, we woke up early for a short walk and then returned to the Accommodation, and it was nice to head to breakfast without rushing. It became a wonderful anniversary memory.

Five siblings stayed here together. Our Room was on the second floor, but because the Accommodation is on a hill, we had a great view over the green trees and the Onsen town. The spacious bedroom and Japanese-style room can be separated with sliding doors, which helped us catch up on sleep after the ferry ride. The floor chairs were also very helpful for our elderly family members, and we appreciated the thoughtful touch of having a coffee maker in the Room. We were also grateful that you accommodated an allergy request even though we had failed to inform you in advance. The meals were delicious as well—beautifully presented creative dishes with wonderful colors. The Hotel’s atmosphere, furniture, and furnishings felt beautiful, as everything is carefully maintained and used with respect despite its age. We love Kyushu, so when we visit Beppu again, we would like to stay here again.

This Accommodation is packed with the best of a traditional Ryokan, and our whole family was delighted. We were amazed by how spacious the bath was, and the grandkids were excited about the jungle-like atmosphere. It was cherry blossom season, and everything was spectacular—flower mats, petals floating on the water, hazy blossom skies, swirling petal showers, even a “path of blossoms”! Its setting in the forest, the dignified yet unpretentious interiors, and the quiet time you can spend here offer a charm that is hard to find at other hotels. This time was no different, and it reminded me again how much I like this hotel. Also, though it’s a small thing, I really like the toothbrushes in the guest rooms. They’re comfortable to use, and I can feel the hotel’s thoughtfulness even in these details. I hope you will continue with the current ones. On the other hand, precisely because I’ve been coming for many years, there are a few things that disappointed me. The biggest one is that Japanese dinner has been discontinued since this year. On a Multiple Night Stay, we used to enjoy being able to choose “Western tonight, Japanese tomorrow” within the hotel itself. Especially for us—who prefer not to drive once we arrive and instead relax in the forest or inside—the option was very important. French cuisine certainly has its appeal, but having Western meals both nights makes it feel like a slightly different hotel than before. I would be happy if Japanese dinner becomes an option again someday. I was also sorry to hear that the garden pool, long loved by guests, has ended operations starting this year. I understand it was due to aging facilities (Facility), but combined with the end of Japanese dinner options (Facility), it feels as though some of what made Tateshina Tokyu special is gradually disappearing. One more thing I would love to see enhanced is the in-house library collection (Facility). This is such a quiet Hotel where you can relax while looking out at the forest—perfect for reading. The current selection feels lacking not so much in quantity as in curation quality. If there were more books that you’d want to pick up specifically because you came to Tateshina—on Shinshu’s nature and culture, mountains, architecture, travel writing, literature—it would make time spent at this Hotel even richer. I’m not asking for new facilities or services one after another. Rather, I hope you will continue cherishing and preserving what makes this Hotel unique. These comments come from someone who truly likes this Hotel—and I hope to keep visiting for many years to come.
