We stayed at “Konpira Machiya Maru” with three adults and one dog (medium-sized). This is a fully renovated, entire-home rental Accommodation, and everything—from the building itself to the Facility, amenities, and supplies—exceeded our expectations. The beds were very comfortable, and everyone said they slept soundly. The location is about a 1-minute walk from both JR Kotohira Station and Kotoden Kotohira Station, making it an ideal base for visiting Konpira Shrine. We traveled by car (HiAce Long), and the parking area is adjacent to the Accommodation with plenty of space even for a large vehicle. We only interacted with the staff at check-in, but they were polite and warmly welcoming without being intrusive. It was a wonderful Accommodation that I would confidently recommend to friends—and I will definitely be returning.

The Room’s interior, Facilities, size, and location were all excellent. I wish I could end my review there, but there was one very disappointing issue. On the morning of the third day (Saturday) of our two-night stay, I found a spider about 10 cm in diameter in the bathroom during a morning bath. The spider itself may have come in when opening or closing the door or windows, and given the natural surroundings—and since I noticed it right before checkout—it wasn’t a major problem. The real issue was what came next. Since new guests might be staying that day, and some people may dislike insects or small children might encounter it (it was large enough to surprise even me), I worried it could ruin their trip. I called the published phone number, but only reached an automated message saying it was outside business hours. I also checked the pre-stay email guidance but couldn’t find any emergency contact information. I understand this Accommodation operates differently from a Ryokan or Hotel, but for situations where guests need to contact someone immediately during their stay (it doesn’t have to be public), there should at least be an emergency contact number provided to guests. In this case, I hope housekeeping removed the spider so the next guests could stay comfortably. However, please recognize that not being able to resolve urgent issues smoothly by phone can potentially ruin a trip, and consider setting up proper emergency contact arrangements. As mentioned at the start, this is an excellent Facility overall—but this one drawback alone makes me hesitate to book again.

I stayed here for the Kameoka Balloon Festival. Unfortunately, the weather was bad and I couldn’t achieve my goal, but staying here blew away my disappointment. The place has such a charming atmosphere that it made me want to stay for days, and it was even better than I imagined. I had used Kameoka Station before when riding the trolley train, but I hadn’t explored the area. This time, I used the Kameoka walking map in my Room and went to a nearby izakaya for dinner and a bakery that opens early in the morning for breakfast. There were also cafes and a shop that brews and sells soy sauce, which I wanted to visit, but it was unfortunately closed on its regular day off. Since I usually travel by car, I’d love to stay here again when sightseeing in Kyoto. Next time, it would be nice to pick up some delicious soy sauce, shop at a local supermarket, and enjoy cooking for myself.

I used this place for the first time because I was attracted by the open-air bath. I was able to enjoy a large open-air bath where I could stretch out my arms and relax. (I entered it more than 10 times.) In addition to water, two drinks were prepared in the refrigerator, and I enjoyed COEDO beer in the open-air bath. The garden at night was also lit up and very beautiful. It is really just a few minutes from Kawagoe City Station, and there are convenience stores and places to eat nearby. I think it's a perfect location for those visiting Kawagoe. I would like to go back soon to relax again. Thank you very much.

From the building's exterior to the interior design, every detail reflects refined sophistication, which we found truly captivating. The convenience and well-equipped facilities, especially the inclusion of a washing machine, were greatly appreciated and brought genuine joy to my wife. We stayed for one night as a family of four after returning from USJ. First, we checked in around 9 PM, and the floor heating was on, making it warm and very appreciated. The abundance of complimentary welcome sweets, drinks, and amenities made us feel the hospitality, which was delightful. The building is a well-renovated old house, so you can feel traces of the past here and there, but the simple and tasteful design and interior allowed us to have a very pleasant stay. The highlight is the location, about a 5-minute walk to Todai-ji Temple, and you can also see the Great Buddha Hall of Todai-ji from the second floor. The luxury of being able to take a leisurely walk to Todai-ji during the early morning when there are fewer tourists is unique to this place. Overall, we were satisfied, but I would like to mention two points we noticed. The barrel sauna, which we were looking forward to, was quite good, but there was only one wooden bench in the relaxation space, and there were no chairs with backrests or infinity chairs, which seemed like a missed opportunity. Also, we added firewood to the fireplace and lit it with the provided gas burner, but only large logs were available, and since the lid had to remain open while lighting with the burner, smoke filled the room, causing a family member with weak respiratory health to start coughing, so we closed the lid early, and the fire went out midway. It would be nice if kindling-sized wood could also be provided. If these two points could be improved, I believe it would become an even more wonderful Facility.

We stayed as a group of six, including my in-laws, my spouse, and our two children. In conclusion, everyone was extremely satisfied with the stay! The first thing that amazed us was the spaciousness and stunning design of the living room. With its high ceilings and open layout, it never felt cramped even with a large group. The terrace featured a "water garden," where the sound of flowing water created an extraordinary sense of relaxation that made us forget we were in a residential area. With multiple bedrooms available, my in-laws stayed in the Japanese-style room while we used the Western-style room. This arrangement allowed everyone to rest comfortably without any concerns—perfect for a three-generation trip. The kitchen facilities were state-of-the-art, allowing us to cook ingredients purchased at the morning market and enjoy a family party together. Features like underfloor heating ensured comfort for families with small children as well. As a base for exploring Takayama, this "perfect private villa" offered far more relaxation than any hotel could provide. We look forward to visiting again during another season!

Since it was a weekday, we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. We were able to relax in peace and were very satisfied with our stay. The location is right in the middle of the Onsen town—Shuzenji Temple next door, a pudding shop nearby, Hakuyu Bathhouse across the street, and the illuminated Bamboo Forest Path was wonderful. We also enjoyed gyoza and beer at a local Chinese restaurant recommended by the Accommodation staff. Since we stayed for hiking, it was reasonably priced and more than enough for us! There is a shared refrigerator you can use freely, cutlery, mineral water, and hot water (a bit lukewarm) in the kettle. The Accommodation is a little dry, so having a humidifier would make it perfect—but that might be asking too much… It may be a good idea to bring a moisturizing sleep mask. We would love to stay again.

My husband chose this place after reading Reviews, saying he preferred it to a Hotel. We didn’t meet the Accommodation staff in person; we communicated only by smartphone. I was surprised by that system, but although we stayed just one night, the Room was simple and clean, spacious and stylish, with a wonderful view outside—perfect for relieving our fatigue. My husband said it was “so relaxing,” and he was very satisfied. I felt the same. We’re glad we chose this place.

First time booking an accommodation through an online system. Also, it was my first experience with an unmanned front desk, so I felt a bit anxious. Initially, there was trouble parking due to the narrow parking space, but after contacting the staff, they came and helped me park successfully. The facility inside was new and clean, with a stylish traditional Japanese house design! I reserved the "Fuku no Ma" room on the second floor. Although the ceiling was low and I almost hit my head a few times, I had a comfortable stay overall. Two issues mentioned in reviews: The bath had cautionary notes; we were four adults but managed without any problems by being mindful while using it. We could hear some voices from children in the neighboring room, but it wasn’t bothersome as we understood it's mutual courtesy. Thank you for your hospitality!

Communication was quick, and when I asked about things I was curious about—such as whether certain requests were possible—they responded politely and thoroughly. Because it is a two-story property, it didn’t feel cramped like a Business Hotel, and we could relax comfortably. The toilet (with a changing area) and the bathroom are separate, both clean, and we were very satisfied. It’s also within walking distance from Kamakura Station, and you can walk to nearby temples and shrines as well, so we were happy with the location. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Kamakura!

We stayed with three people. The charm of the traditional townhouse is very nice. Also, the tatami mat and the low table in the living room are great. You can stretch your legs and relax comfortably. My wife said it was the most relaxing property she had stayed at in recent years and the most comfortable. Unfortunately, it started raining in the evening, so we decided to avoid going out for dinner, but we were able to take out from Sanjo Shopping Street and enjoy it leisurely. Sanjo Shopping Street is nearby, and JR Nijo Station and Subway Nijojo-mae Station are not too far, so I think access to Gion and Kyoto Station is not a problem. The bath was also very nice. The bathtub is spacious, which was very good for our tired bodies. My daughter praised it highly, saying, "They have high-quality shampoo and lotion." It seems you can take a bath while looking at the garden, and I think it would have been great if we could have taken a leisurely bath during the day. There was an earthquake while I was bathing, which was a bit of a surprise. The bedroom on the second floor was also very spacious, and we were able to get plenty of sleep. The only disappointment was that I don't think there was a washlet in the toilet, but if there had been, it would have been a perfect score. Anyway, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a Kyoto townhouse. I definitely plan to stay again on my next trip to Kyoto. Thank you for your hospitality.

We used this accommodation for my son and his wife's first visit home after their wedding, as they wanted to go to Kyoto. Since we wanted separate bedrooms, we reserved a detached house. Although there were no reviews available and I was a bit anxious, it turned out to be excellent! It was a wonderful accommodation that combined an old-fashioned nostalgic feel with cozy rooms and well-equipped facilities. The underfloor heating in the Japanese-style room was fantastic and gave us some ideas for renovations. Unlike a hotel, there was a kitchen where our family could enjoy cooking and eating together—it was so much fun! The parking location was hard to find, which caused some confusion, but since it allowed free entry and exit even after checkout, it was very convenient for sightseeing. Next time, I’d love to stay in the main building too!

The property was a lovely townhouse just as seen in the photos. The building has historical significance but has been moderately renovated, with a beautiful open-plan living room and a rear garden. We didn't feel the presence of neighbors and enjoyed a quiet night, which was very satisfying. Although it was a whole house rental, we could use delivery services like a hotel, so both check-in and check-out were convenient with large luggage being handled at Kyoto Station, allowing for comfortable sightseeing. The response from the property's management company was courteous even at night, which was very reassuring. I think it's a property with hotel-like hospitality without the hassle of a hotel.

This accommodation is a renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse. The semi-open-air Shigaraki ceramic bath was smooth to the touch and very pleasant. The room's furnishings and facilities were top-notch, ensuring a comfortable stay. The staff member was very kind, making us feel at ease.

The toothbrush and comb were better than those in ordinary hotels, it was clean, and there was also a washing machine... I was satisfied!
